        Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is a useful tool to analyze the relative efficiency of decision making units (DMU) characterized by multiple inputs and multiple outputs. This method has been popularly used as an analytical tool to suggest some strategic improvement. To do this, the results of DEA provide decision makers with a single efficiency score, efficient frontier, return to scale, benchmarking decision making units, etc. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate research performance of 38 universities and provide an inefficient university with the way of organizational changes to be an efficient university by using DEA. Various input and output variables are used to identify technical and scale inefficiency. Additionally, we analyze how an inefficient DMU could be changed an efficient DMU based on a case university. This result will give an insight of constructive directions for increasing of research performance to university decision makers.

        해양계대학교 실습해기사들은 승선하기 전 필요한 안전교육을 충분히 이수하고 승선해야 되지만 기초안전교육만 이수하고 승선을 하며 승선실습을 마치고 졸업 전까지 남은 학기 중 상급안전 교육과 탱커선 교육을 이수하고 있다. 그러나 해양대학교 실습해기사들은 선박회사 승선실습 과정 중에 위험에 노출되는 많은 작업들을 하게 된다. 이처럼 대부분의 상선들은 ISM관리 하에서 선박회사 및 승선하는 선박에서 각종 점검표에 의해 사전 교육을 행하고 작업을 하는 것이 당연한 것이다. 그러나 본 연구조사 결과 선박회사와 승선하는 선박 및 해양대학교에서도 교육이 제대로 이루어지지 않고 있으며 특히 '유해화학 물질의 취급'은 승선 경험이 없는 실습해기사들에게 상당한 위험이 되고 있다. 또한 승선실습 해기사들은 유해화학물질 취급에 관한 개인안전과 취급에 관한 사전교육이 없이 승선하게 되는 경우가 대부분이다. 이로 인해 실습해기사들이 승선실습 중 유해화학물질 취급 부주의와 무지로 인해 신체적 손상을 입고 하선을 하거나 승선에 어려움에 처하는 경우가 종종 발생하고 있다. 따라서 사고를 미연에 방지하기 위해서는 승선 실습 전에 해양대학교에서 이 부분의 철저한 교육이 이루어져야 하고, 선박회사에서는 취급하는 유해화학물질의 안전에 대한 데이터 베이스화가 체계적으로 갖추어져야하며, 각 선박에 맞는 유해화학물질 안전교육을 위한 온라인 켄텐츠 개발이 절실히 필요하다. 또한, 선박회사에서는 유해화학물질 안전점검일지를 만들어 관리감독하고, 선박에서는 이에 관한 교육을 이수한 관리책임자를 지정하여 안전교육과 관리를 하여야 할 것을 제안한다.

        본 연구는 서울대학교 학부생들의 기초교양 교과목의 수강 경향을 분석하여 지난 수년간 기초교육 강화를 위한 노력이 학생들에게 어떻게 수용되고 어떤 교육적 성과를 거두었는가를 평가하고자 하였다. 분석 결과, 서울대학교 학부생들은 평균 8.49학기를 이수하였고, 대학에서 졸업요건으로 정해진 학점을 크게 벗어나지 않았지만 평균 전공 취득 학점은 2000년부터 점차 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 학과별로 전공 학점수를 더 많이 요구하는 경향을 보여서 대학이 전문 직업을 위한 고도의 지적, 직업적 훈련을 시켜야 한다는 목표와 근본적이고 기초적인 교육에 중점을 두어야 한다는 교육 목표 사이에는 적절한 균형이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 또한 지난 5년 간 복수전공을 수강한 학생은 406명, 연합전공 31명으로 다양한 분야의 전공을 수강한 학생이 연평균 437명으로 나타났다. 이러한 추세는 학생의 사회적 관심 영역을 확장하고 교육적인 기초를 더욱 확고히 다지는 기회를 제공하였을 것이며, 다양한 학문적 경험을 통한 융합을 구현하는 것에 도움이 되었을 것으로 판단된다.

        스웨덴 룬드대학은 중국어 교육의 주요 기지이며, 중문과 전공의 초급 단계 학 생들은 중국어 교육에 있어서 10년이 넘게 『初級漢語』라는 자신들이 편찬한 교 재를 사용함으로써 학습 동기를 유발하고, 스웨덴어와 중국어를 서로 참고할 수 있도록 하였다. 통계에 따르면, 『漢語水準詞彙與漢字等級大綱』의 갑급 단어와 비교해 본 결 과, 약 41%의 갑급 단어가 『初級漢語』에 보이지 않는다. 『初級漢語』의 단어가 이렇게 된 이유는 한자의 출현 순서에 따라 본문의 내용을 따라갈 뿐, 『漢語水準詞彙與漢字等級大綱』의 단어 등급과 한자 등급을 따르지 않기 때문이다. 이외에 도 전문적인 한자과목이 개설되지 않았기 때문에 학생들은 한자의 규칙을 학습하 는데 매우 어려움을 느끼고 있으며, 이로 인해 학생들의 중국어 능력을 향상시키 는데 일정 정도의 어려움이 있다. 본고는 비한자문화권 초급 단계 학생들에게 어휘와 한자를 교육하는 방법을 제 시함으로써, 향후 비한자문화권 학생들의 중국어 학습에 있어 보다 효과적인 어휘와 한자 교육에 대해 토의하는 계기가 되고자 한다.

        This research introduces an English language program of a research-oriented science and engineering university in Korea. The university had established a PBT TOEFL score of 550 as one of its graduation requirements in 1995, implementing it for fifteen years. The policy, however, created problems such as students’ learning focus on receptive skills of the language and the discrepancy between the English curriculum and the graduation requirement. In addition, students who were unable to graduate on time due to not meeting the graduation requirement had increased. Facing these issues, the institute abolished the TOEFL policy and developed a new English program, which is characterized by a level-based curriculum, the implementation of an in-house placement test, mandating a number of courses to take, focus on productive skills, and teaching both general English and ESP-oriented courses. With the aim to introduce its rationale, placement test and curriculum, this study also reports on the results of questionnaires designed to determine students’ perceptions of the new English program and main issues raised in a panel discussion designed to examine the program. Limits and suggestions for the program are lastly presented.

        The purpose of this study was to determine differences in perception of weight management, balanced food intake, knowledge of obesity, and nutrition knowledge in university students. The average weight and height of male subjects were 175.0±5.7cm and 69.1±11.8kg, whereas those of female subjects were 161.7±5.0cm and 51.7±6.9kg, respectively. Average scores for balanced food intake were not significantly different between male and female students. The total number of correct answers for obesity knowledge was not significantly different according to gender, but four responses related with losing weight showed higher perception scores in females compared to males (p〈0.05). The total number of correct answers for nutrition knowledge was not significantly different between males and females. The average BMI of male and female subjects were 22.5±3.44 and 19.7±2.21, respectively, ranged in normality. Self-evaluation of body shape was mostly in the normal or standard range in both males and females, but females showed a higher perception rate of chubby or fat than males. The percentages of interest in weight management was 36.0% in males and 50.8% in females, with higher interest in female subjects (p〈0.01).

        This study investigated the effect of salt preference on dietary habits and the body composition of university students. The subjects were divided into two groups: 85 students who dislike salt (salt-dislike (SD) group) and 104 students who like salt (salt-like (SL) group). We found that the SL group showed a higher preference for sweet, sour, spicy, and bitter flavors compared to the SD group. There was no significant difference in the frequency of eating breakfast according to the salt taste preference. The meal speed of the SL group was significantly higher than the SD group (p〈0.01) and the body mass index of the SL group (22.59kg/m2) was higher than SD group (21.04kg/m2). The fat mass of the SL group (15.30 kg) was higher than the SD group (12.80 kg) (p〈0.01). Salt preference and snack intake frequency had a significant and positive correlation with fat mass. The frequency of eating breakfast, and meal speed also showed a significant and positive correlation with subcutaneous fat. In conclusion, the SL group eats relatively more, speedily and frequently intakes snacks and carbonated drinks, likely resulting in higher body and subcutaneous fat. These results suggest salt preference is related to food choice, influences unreasonable eating habits, and possibly changes body composition. Taste preferences should therefore be considered for dietary consulting and nutritional education.

        Information on time spent in microenvironments has a critical role in individuals’ exposure assessment. Time-activity studies have become an integral part of comprehensive exposure assessment and personal exposure modeling. The aims of this study were to estimate the exposure level of NO2, PM10 and VOCs, and to compare the estimated exposure by using time-activity pattern and indoor air concentration. This study was performed upon 28 university students living in Daegu. We measured air pollutants of NO2, PM10 and VOCs at houses where the university students spent most their times. In this study, according to the summer and winter, time-activity patterns of university students were different. The 28 university students average spending times in house indoors and other indoors time were 11.52±2.14 and 7.63±2.65 hours in summer, and 14.78±3.30 and 6.59±3.03 hours in winter, respectively. The university students personal exposure NO2 concentrations were average 21.62±5.88 ppb and I/O ratio was 0.89±0.27. Personal average exposure of PM10 concentration was between house indoors and outdoors concentrations which indoor house concentration was 37.68±7.57 μg/m3 and outdoor house concentration was 43.85±9.80 μg/m3 with 0.88±0.17 of I/O ratio. Personal exposure to benzene and the average concentration of benzene did not exceed in atmosphere environmental standard (annual 1.5 ppb) and the outdoor houses concentration was much higher than indoor houses.

        본 연구는 코칭의 학문적 동향과 국내외 대학의 코칭전공 교육과정을 비교분석하고, 표준교육과정을 개발함으로서 대학에서의 코칭전공 개설에 필요한 기초자료를 제공하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 문헌연구와 국내외 대학, 학회, 협회 등의 사이트 검색을 통한 코칭전공 교육과정을 수집하였고, 코칭전공 및 교과목에 관한 개설현황을 비교분석하였으며, 분석자료를 토대로 코칭전공 표준교육과정(안)을 개발하였다. 연구결과를 살펴보면, 첫째, 교육계와 학계에서 보이고 있는 코칭의 학문적 동향을 전반적으로 분석한 결과, 대학 학부 과정에서 코칭이 학과목으 로 선정되어 코치를 양성하고 있고, 평생교육으로 코칭 강의가 이뤄지고 있으며, 최근에는 대 학원에 코칭전공이 점차 늘어나고 있다. 뿐만 아니라 석박사논문과 학술지 논문발표가 2005년 이후에 급격히 증가하고 있고, 한국코칭학회, 한국코치협회 등과 같은 협회 및 학회의 창설로 코칭학의 체계적 정립을 위한 다각적인 시도가 이뤄지고 있다. 둘째, 국내외 대학의 코칭전공 및 교육과정을 비교분석한 결과, 외국대학의 경우, 미국, 영국, 호주, 캐나다 등 여러 국가에서 다양한 형태로 코칭전공이 대학에 개설되어 있으며, 학부생들을 대상으로 코칭교육이 활발하 게 이뤄지고 있는 대학들도 다수로 나타났다. 국내대학은 교과목으로 운영되고 있거나 코칭전 공이 석사과정에 도입되고 있는 대학들이 점차 늘어나고 있다. 셋째, 코칭전공 표준교육과정 (안)은 기초과정, 심화과정, 실습과정, 논문작성과 제출을 통해 코칭전공 학위를 취득할 수 있도록 개발하였다.

        This study summarized findings from an investigation into the awareness and evaluation of traditional foods among 197 male and female university students in the Chungnam area. The results were as follows. Regarding awareness of cooktable setting of traditional foods, 44.67% (88 students) of subjects answered that they had little knowledge. Female students showed a significantly high level of awareness of cooktable setting (p<0.05). Regarding the taste of traditional foods, 64.97% (128 students) of subjects responded appropriately. Regarding the necessity for partial development of traditional foods into a modern style, 61.90% (52 students) of male subjects and 84.96% (96 students) of female subjects were in agreement (p<0.01). Regarding the necessity for traditional food education, 77.16% (152 students) were in agreement, especially female students (86.73%, 98 students) showed considerably higher consent (p<0.05). For the assessment of traditional foods, nutrition (4.57 scores), taste (4.31 scores), and appearance (4.26 scores) were very highly assessed, whereas cookery (3.30 scores) and economic aspects (3.04 scores) scored relatively lower. Traditional desserts were recognized as routine and modern by male students. On the other hand, girls recognized desserts as traditional (p<0.05). Accordingly, we must preserve and pass down Korean traditional foods by increasing awareness through education or experience as well as through planning better cookery and economical aspects by applying certain standards for traditional foods.

        Engl ish as a Foreign Language (EFL) students in traditional second language (L2) writing classrooms are not provided sufficient opportunities for giving and receiving peer feedback. To compensate for this limitation, blended learning has been suggested in the L2 writing classroom. However, there has been little research on peer feedback in blended learning in L2 writing. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the patterns of peer feedback and the impact of peer feedback on revisions in blended leaming in L2 writing. The subjects for the qualitative study consisted of three university students, representing low- intermediate, intermediate, and advanced levels of English writing proficiency. Data sources included student-produced feedback in online and offline sessions, 18 drafts in process-oriented writing, classroom observations, and the interview. The major fi ndings of the study are as fo llows. First, the students produced more onl ine peer feedback than offline peer feedback. Second, they provided more fonn-focused feedback in online sessions, but more meaning-focused feedback in offline sessions. Third, they incorporated online peer feedback in their second drafts more than offline peer feedback in the final drafts. Based on the findings, implications are considered and suggestions are made for the effective use of peer feedback in blended learning in L2 writing .

        The objective of this study was to investigate the perception of ginseng and ginseng products among university students living in Yeongsu, Ganwon-do. 196 university students participated in the survey for our study. The ginseng intakes of male students(59.1%) was significantly(p<0.05) higher than the intake of female students(40.9%). The primary reasons for consuming ginseng were to “Maintain my [one’s] health” and to, “Restore my [one’s] energy”. The reasons for not consuming ginseng were “Taste” and, “Physical constitution”. Consumers purchased the following ginseng products at the market: For males, ginseng wine(21.7%), ginseng beverage(17.4%), ginseng candy(17.4%) and ginseng kimchi(17.4%) for females, Korean ginseng snacks(23.3%), ginseng yogurt(20.9%), ginseng candy(14.0%), and ginseng jelly(11.6%).

        Especially because of the distinctiveness that new experiments and research provoke coexistence of various risk factors, the researchers in university laboratory are being exposed to incidents that are difficult to predict. Due to the fact that the numbers of accidents that occur at the university laboratory are increasing, the necessity for laboratory safety management is on the rise. Most laboratory accidents are caused by the ability that can detect risk factors such as unsafe behavior or unsafe condition but is not working perfectly. In order to prevent researchers in advance from unsafe behavior or unsafe condition, effective safety education, systematic safety management, safe research environment, continuous safety check and proper measures after accident are the most important factors. In this study, survey was conducted in university laboratory to identify the factors that affect on safety management and to measure the safety management level. As a result, effective measures are proposed for the improvement of the safety management level.

        Yang Tae-sun. 2012. University Students' Perceptions about NESPs and NNESPs in EMCs. The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea 20(2). pp. 291-312. The purpose of this study was to investigate Korean university students' perceptions about NESPs (Native English Speaking Professor) and NNESPs (Non-native English Speaking Professor) in EMCs (English Medium Course) to suggest better ways to implement EMCs in university settings. 100 university students who had an experience in taking EMCs with both NESPs and NNESPs answered the questionnaire and 30 students out of them were also interviewed to consolidate the data. Students expressed that they could benefit from NESPs in the area of language. On the other hand, they thought that they could have more chances to broaden content knowledge with the help of NNESPs. Based on the results of the study, the following suggestions were made for NESPs and NNESPs to implement EMCs in a successful way: NESPs should deepen their knowledge of content areas. NNESPs should use a monitoring service at the university to get comments on their teaching, participate in one-on-one tutoring sessions to practice English with NESPs, participate in meetings to get effective teaching tips from experts, and the university should regularly conduct needs surveys and do ongoing analyses of students' and professors' needs to provide more customized EMCs.

        For one hundred years, the Chinese character is good or poor? Is it easy or Complexity? Should continue to go its own way, or take the 'world of common phoneticdirection'? Repeatedly set off a heated debate until the new century, the problems have not been fundamentally resolved. The authors think that these arguments completely resolved, depends on the proper distinction, aware of two eras: the era of type and the computer age. In other words: the correct understanding of the new features of today's computer age is the key to Chinese characters all kinds of disputes resolved. Summary explanation: a century of Chinese characters should distinguish between two eras: type times and computer age; computer era of Chinese character information processing efficiency has alreadyovertaken English;electronics and software technology has beensuccessfully cracked a large amount of Chinese characters, the complex structure of the various problems; simplified and traditional Chinese characters compared in two age has a radically different landscape; implified and traditional Chinese characters compatible coexistence of conversion, wonderful, bright and harmonious development prospects.
