        Extraction of Natural Artemisia by using super critical carbon dioxide is operated under 40-50℃ and 200-250 atm, thus, conversion rate is very low as 7wt% while high energy is being wasted. When Natural Artemisia Extract is applied in the control of microbe, concentration and reaction time greatly affected to the growth of microbe. Especially, when refined oil concentration from Natural Artemisia added more than 1,000ppm, staphylococcus aureus and fungi are terminated completely. Thus, it is proven that Natural Artemisia Extract has antimicrobial effect.

        Nitric oxide(NO) is synthesized via the oxidation of L-arginine by a family of nitric oxide synthases(NOS), which are either constitutive(cNOS) or inducible(iNOS). The induction of iNOS in tissues can lead to the sustained production of high concentrations of NO which may exert pro-inflammatory effects including vasodilation, edema, cyototoxicity, and its activity can be mediated by various pro-inflammatory cytokine, including interferonγ(INF- γ), tumor necrosis factor, IL-1 and IL-6. The enzyme, iNOS, became a new target for pharmacologcal research with the aim to find new substances for the treatment of chronic inflammatory disorders. Murine macrophages produce large amounts of NO when activated with TFN-γ plus LPS. Murine macrophage-like cell line, RAW 264.7, is a suitable cell model to perform in vitro studies regarding the iNOS system. Artemisin feddei Lev. et Vnt.(Compositae) is a perennial herb growing in Korea. The aerial parts have been used in foik medicine as antiinflammatory, antipyretic, choleretic and diuretic agent. Sesquiterpenelactones were isolated from this plant. In the course of screening for NO inhibitory activity from medicnial plants, the aqueous extract of this plant was found to have a significant activity.

        본 실험은 고기능성 채소 생산을 위한 배양액내의 적정 셀레니움 농도를 구명하고자 수행되었다. 벨기에의 채소연구소에서 허브재배를 위해 개발된 양액을 이용하여 각각 Na2SeO4를 0, 2, 4, 6, 8mg/l농도로 처리하였다. 배양액내 셀레니움의 농도가 국화과 식물인 향쑥의 생육에 미치는 영향을 알아본 결과 저농도의 처리는 생육을 향상시켰으나 6mg/l이상의 고농도 처리는 생육을 감소시켰다. 엽록소의 함량은 셀레니움 처리에 의해 증가되었는데 배양액 내의 selenate ion 농도가 높을수록 전체 엽록소함량도 증가되었다. 비타민 C의 함량은 좋은 생장을 보였던 4mg/l처리까지는 증가하였으나 그 이상으로 농도가 증가했을 때 비타민C의 함량은 감소하였다. 저농도의 selenate 이온 농도는 정유의 함량을 증가시켰으나 고농도에서는 정유의 함량이 감소되었다. 식물에 의한 셀레니움의 흡수는 배양액내의 selenate 이온 농도가 증가할수록 촉진되었다.

        한국산(韓國産) 야생 산채류인 맑은대쑥의 휘발성 풍미성분을 수증기 증류법으로 추출해서 GC와 GC-MS 조합에 의하여 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 hydrocarbons 17종류, alcohols 6종류, aldehydes 2종류, oxide 1종류, 그리고 furans 3종류 등 총 29개의 성분이 확인되었다.

        Background : The small-scale medicinal crops is rapidly decreasing, and there is a risk of collapse of the pharmaceutical production base due to the radical market opening such as the Korea - China FTA. Among them, the Artemisia gmelinii has been used in the oriental medicine, and it is effective in treating the fever, humidity, urination, and scabies. Although it is being grown in small areas such as Gyeongnam and Gangwon Province in Korea, standardization of raw material production is insufficient. Then we were carried out on seed characteristics and growth characteristics by harvest time of A. gmelinii. Methods and Results : We were collected 114 accession from 7 regions from 2017 to 2018. The collected resources were growing to the testing field of Department of Herbal Crop Research. An average length and width of seed in A. gmelinii were 1.05 ㎜, 0.57 ㎜ respectively. A thousand seed weight were 0.42 g. Seed germination rate was highest at 25℃ (76.4%). Plant height was similar, stem diameter was 9 – 15 ㎜ in early growth collected resources. AG1801 had many leaves (60 ea), AG1802 was blooming fast. Conclusion : The above results showed that AG1801, AG1802, and AG1803 were selected good resources. We will analyze a valid ingredient by harvest time.

        Background : Medicinal crops the importance of good agricultural practice (GAP) cultivation is increasing, but the number of GAP-certified farms is decreasing because of the decrease and undeveloped application of medicinal crops. In the case of Artemisia capillaris Thunb., GAP cultivation is difficult because there is no registered application agricultural pesticides. The insect pests that occur mainly in apples are Aphis gossypii. Especially, if the high temperature is continued as in this year, the incidence rate increases rapidly, which greatly affects the growth delay. Therefore, this study was conducted to select the application agricultural pesticides of A. gossypii for the stable production of GAP in A. capillaris. Methods and Results : Three-years-old (Jangsu, Jinan) A. capillaris were used as test materials. The treated medicines (2,000-fold dilution) were acetamiprid wet table powder (WP), clothianidin suspension concentrate (SC), imidacloprid WP and thiacloprid SC. To investigate the phytotoxicity, 2 times of medicine (1,000-fold dilution) was treated. The medicinal effect was confirmed at 3 and 7 days after the treatment of the medicinal stuff, and the phytotoxicity was investigated from symptoms appearing in the stem and leaf. As a result of treatment, in Jinan area, the treatment rate was more than 80% in all treatment chemicals on the 3 day after treatment, but on the 7 day, acetamiprid WP and clothianidin SC remained more than 80%. In the jangsu area, only the imidacloprid WP was less than 80% on the 3 day of treatment, but on the 7 day, acetamiprid WP and imidacloprid WP were maintained more than 80%. In particular, thiacloprid SC had a high control rate of 93% on the 3 day, but as the fell rapidly to 32% on the 7 day, It is considered that the persistence of medicinal effect is low. Conclusion : The results of medicines treatment for A. gossypii control showed that the control efficacy was higher than 80% until the 3 day of treatment, but the efficacy decreased at 7 day. The medicines with high control rate were acetamiprid WP, and the control rate was maintained more than 80% from 3 day to 7 day. Therefore, appropriate conclusions were obtained for the applied medicine.

        This study was conducted to compare the volatile flavor compounds of Artemisia annua L. after extraction by simultaneous steam distillation extraction (SDE) and solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Via SDE and SPME processes, 79 (1,254.00 mg/kg) and 39 (488.74 mg/kg) compounds were identified respectively. The compounds extracted by SDE included 27 alcohols, 13 aldehydes, 22 hydrocarbons, 3 esters, 12 ketones, 1 oxide and 1 N-containing compound, on the other hand, using the SPME method, 7 alcohols, 5 aldehydes, 1 ester, 18 hydrocarbons, 7 ketones, and 1 oxide were extracted. The major volatile flavor compounds of Artemisia annua L. isolated by the two methods were caryophyllene oxide, -caryophyllene, camphor, -selinene, -muurolene, 1,8-cineol, (E)-pinocarveol and pinocarvone. β β γ The sesquiterpene named caryophyllene oxide was the most abundant volatile flavor compound with relative contents of 234.16 mg/kg and 195.44 mg/kg obtained by the SDE and SPME methods, respectively. Among the identified volatiles, sabinene, β-pinene, α-terpinene, γ-terpinene, yomogi alcohol, myrtenol, (Z)-nerolidol, p-cymen-8-ol and eugenol were detected by the SDE method only while (E)-anethole and α-cubebene were detected by the SPME method only. This study confirmed that the composition and contents of the volatile flavor compounds vary between different extraction methods. More volatile flavor compounds were identified using the SDE method than the SPME method.

        This study was carried out to investigate the quality characteristics of vinegars containing jaceosidin and eupatilin using Artemisia argyi H. ethanol extract (AEE). 10% malt extract (ME) and water extract of Artemisia argyi H. (AWE) were also prepared for vinegar production. Three kinds of materials were mixed in the same amount to prepare vinegar as follows; CO (ME, water, 18% edible ethanol), SE (ME, water, and AEE), SW (ME, AWE, and 18% edible ethanol) and SM (ME, AWE, AEE). All samples were fermented by Acetobacter pasteurianus A8 at 30℃ for 25 days and analyzed at 10, 15, 20 and 25 days. The pH decreased significantly during the fermentation. pH was lower in SE and SM than CO and SW. The acidity increased significantly during the fermentation, and was highest in SM (4.44%) at 25 days of fermentation. The concentration of acetic acid was higher than other organic acids for all vinegars. Jaceosidin and eupatilin were not detected in both CO and SW, but both were detected in the SE and SM. At 25 days of fermentation, jaceosidin and eupatilin concentrations in SE and SM were 6.49-6.88 mg/kg and 2.23-2.24 mg/kg, respectively. From these results, we confirmed that production of vinegar containing jaceosidin, eupatilin and phenolic compounds can be prepared by using Artemisia argyi H. edible ethanol extract.

        GABA 함량이 증가된 섬애약쑥 발효물의 제조를 위하여 섬애약쑥 추출물을 15% 첨가하여 제조한 식혜에 MSG를 0, 0.25, 0.5 및 1.0% 첨가하고, Lactobacillus brevis(KI271266)를 접종하여 3일간 발효하면서 일자별로 시료를 취해 이화학적 특성을 분석하였다. 발효기간이 경과할수록 탁도는 점차 감소하였고, 명도와 황색도는 증가하였고, 적색도는 감소하는 경향이었다. 가용성고형분도 점차 낮아져 발효 3일에는 19.70-20.80 °Brix의 범위였다. 환원당의 함량은 MSG의 첨가량이 많을수록 더 높았는데, 발효기간이 경과할수록 감소하는 경향이었다. pH는 4.65-4.83이던 것이 발효 3일 후에는 3.15-3.68로 낮아졌다. MSG의 첨가농도가 높을수록 GABA의 함량도 높았으며, 발효기간이 경과할수록 그 함량도 증가하여 MSG 1.0% 첨가군에서는 354.38 mg/L로 가장 높은 함량이었다. Fructose, glucose 및 sucrose는 발효 전에 비해 3일간 발효 후에 50-67%가 감소하였다. 유기산 중 propionic acid, oxalic acid, citric acid 및 fumaric acid의 함량은 발효기간의 경과와 더불어 감소하였고, lactic acid, acetic acid, succinic acid의 함량은 점차 증가하였는데, lactic acid의 증가폭이 가장 컸다. 3일간 발효가 완료된 발효물 중의 총 페놀화합물의 함량 및 DPPH 라디칼 소거활성은 동일한 경향으로 MSG 0.5% 첨가군이 유의적으로 가장 높았고, 다음으로 1.0% 첨가군이었다. 이상의 결과로부터 섬애약쑥 유산균 발효물 제조시 MSG를 첨가함으로써 발효물의 이화학적 특성에는 영향을 미치지 않으면서 GABA의 함량 증가가 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.

        This study was performed to develop the efficient phytoremediation model in the paddy soil contaminated with heavy metals by cultivating Pteris multifida and Artemisia princeps with different mixing ratios (1:0, 8:1, 6:1, 4:1). As a result of investigating the heavy metal accumulation of each plant per dried material (1 ㎏), content of arsenic and cadmium was the highest in aerial part of P. multifida (169.82, 1.70 ㎎·㎏-1 DW, each) among the treated group. Lead content was the highest (12.58 ㎎·㎏-1 DW) in the aerial part of P. multifida cultivated with 8:1 mixed planting. But the content of copper and zinc was the highest (33.94, 61.78 ㎎·㎏-1 DW, each) in the aerial part of A. princeps with 8:1 treatment. Regardless of heavy metals, plant uptake from the 1 ㎡ soil was the highest in 4:1 mixed planting group, which showed the best yield of A. princeps.

        전통 음료인 식혜의 기능성 강화를 위한 연구의 일환으로 섬애약쑥 추출물을 0. 5, 10, 15 및 20% 첨가하여 식혜를 제조하고, 5시간 동안 당화 시키면서 1시간 간격으로 품질 특성을 분석하였다. 섬애약쑥 추출물을 첨가한 식혜의 탁도는 당화 2시간에 최고치를 보인 후 점차 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며, 당화 5시간에는 섬애약쑥 추출물 5-15% 첨가군 간에는 유의적인 차이가 없었고, 20% 첨가군은 유의적으로 높았다. 쑥 식혜의 명도값은 당화 완료 후 모든 실험군에서 유의적인 차이가 없었다. 적색도와 황색도는 당화시간이 경과하고 섬애약쑥 추출물의 첨가량이 많을수록 더 높은 경향이었다. 당화 전 pH는 섬애약쑥 추출물의 첨가 비율에 따른 유의차는 없었고, 당화 완료 후 5.68-5.73의 범위로 증가하였다. 가용성 고형분 및 환원당의 함량은 당화 시간의 경과와 섬애약쑥 추출물의 첨가 비율이 많을수록 높아지는 경향이었다. 총 폴리페놀 화합물의 함량과 DPPH 라디칼 소거활성도 당화 시간과 섬애약쑥 추출물의 첨가와 정의 상관관계를 나타내며 높아졌다. 관능평가 결과에서는 섬애약쑥 추출물 5% 첨가군은 대조군과 차이가 없었으나 20% 첨가군의 경우 강한 색과 쑥 향으로 인해 기호도가 낮았고 전체적인 기호도도 유의적으로 낮았다. 이상의 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 섬애약쑥 추출물을 첨가한 식혜의 경우 쑥 추출액의 첨가량이 높을수록 항산화활성이나 이화학적 특성은 향상되었지만 관능평가에서는 오히려 기호도가 낮아지므로 적정 첨가비율은 15% 이내가 적합한 것으로 판단된다.

        Since the acetylcholinesterase (AChE) inhibitor is used to treat Alzheimer’s disease, the present study aimed to analyze the component with anti-AChE activity from the essential oil of Artemisia iwayomogi (Compositae). The four major components of the essential oil were identified to be camphor (29.8%), borneol (28.0%), eucalyptol (5.81%) and coumarin (5.49%) from a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The essential oil and its three components, camphor, borneol, and coumarin, were subjected to anti-AChE assay. The IC50 values of the essential oil and coumarin were shown to be 0.298 ㎎/㎖ and 0.236 ㎎/㎖, though those of other two components, camphor and borneol, were more than 0.250 ㎎/㎖. These results suggest that coumarin is an active substance of this essential oil with anti-AChE activity.

        The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum amount of Artemisia annua L. powder for adding rice flour. The A. annua powder was added to the rice flour at ratios of 1% (30 g/3 kg), 2% (60 g/3 kg), 3% (90 g/3 kg, w/w). As the amount of A. annua powder in rice cake dough increased, carbohydrate, ash content, total amino acid, and dietary fiber contents increased whereas the moisture content decreased. Hunter’s L value decreased as A. annua powder content increased. On the contrary, the a- and b values increased. The sensory score of the rice cakes containing 30 g of A. annua powder was the highest of all the rice cakes tested. Based on these results, adding A. annua powder could improve the quality and sensory characteristics of rice cake.

        본 연구에서는 항암 등의 기능성이 우수한 것으로 알려 진 개똥쑥 추출물을 첨가하여 김치를 제조하여 김치 품질 특성 변화를 살펴보았다. 개똥쑥의 물 또는 70% 에탄올로 추출물 1 또는 2% 첨가하여 김치를 제조하고 10, 15℃에서 20일간 숙성하면서 pH, 산도, 환원당, 생균수 및 젖산균수 의 변화 및 관능조사를 하였다. 개똥쑥의 첨가여부와는 관 계없이 pH, 산도 환원당, 생균수 및 젖산균수는 저장 4∼6일 까지 증가하고 이후 완만히 증가하는 경향을 보여 개똥쑥 추출물이 김치 품질에 미치는 영향은 크지 않은 것으로 나타났으며 개똥쑥 추출물 첨가 김치의 적정 숙성온도 및 기간은 10℃에서 10일간이었다. 관능검사의 경우 맛, 향 등의 기호도에서 전반적으로 개똥쑥 물 또는 에탄올 추출물 1%를 첨가하여 제조하는 것이 좋았으나 개똥쑥 물 또는 에탄올 추출물 2%를 첨가한 김치는 쓴 맛과 검은 색 등으로 인해 기호도가 떨어진 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 개똥쑥 물 또는 에탄올 추출물은 김치 제조에 1%를 김치 제조에 첨가 하는 것이 적당한 것으로 사료된다.
