This mixed-methods study explores perceptual learning style preferences among Korean and Uzbek EFL learners and examines teachers’ interpretations of these preferences. Quantitative data were collected from secondary-level learners in both countries (N= 208) using Reid’s PLSPQ, followed by semi-structured interviews with English teachers (n= 18) to contextualize survey patterns. The PLSPQ was selected for its modality-based structure and comparability with current EFL research, and teacher interviews were added to triangulate self-report. Independent-samples t-tests showed that Uzbek learners reported significantly higher preferences across all six modalities, with no group differences on visual. These higher scores are interpreted as context-responsive tendencies rather than indicators of superior ability, with Uzbek patterns linked to smaller classes, limited private tutoring, early instruction prior to full literacy, and movement-based activities in resource-limited schools. In contrast, narrower preference profiles among Korean learners align with exam-oriented, text-focused instruction, larger classes, and classroom norms of deference. While this study contributes a cross-context perspective on learning style preferences, its findings are limited by reliance on self-report and the absence of factor analytic validation of the PLSPQ. Future research should include psychometric testing and behavioral measures. Overall, results underscore the value of inclusive, multimodal pedagogy and learner metacognitive awareness.
Purpose: This mixed-methods study developed an infant nursing simulation practice program for nursing students and analyzed its effects on nursing knowledge, critical thinking disposition, clinical competence, and learning satisfaction through quantitative research. The study also qualitatively explored student’s experiences through focus group interviews. Methods: A mixed-methods design was employed incorporating a nonequivalent one-group pretest-posttest design(N=62) and focus group interviews(n=11). Participants were nursing students who applied for simulation training at a university between March and June, 2024. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and paired t-test, while qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. Results: Quantitative findings revealed that participation in the infant care simulation program, result in significant inprovements in nursing knowledge (t=-3.60, p<.001) and clinical competence(t=-2.95, p=.004). However no significant improvement critical thinking disposition was observed. Qualitative analysis revealed three themes: ‘performing nursing care for infants’, ‘experiencing real situations and repeated practice’, and ‘reflection on nursing performance and disappointment with the set contents’. Conclusion: The infant nursing simulation training effectively enhanced nursing knowledge and clinical competence, providing a positive learning experience for nursing students. Further development and evaluation of simulation training across various subjects are recommended to confirm its broader educational effectiveness.
Purpose: This study aimed to identify the status of medication errors by nurses using patient safety incident reports and to gain a detailed understanding of nurses' experiences with medication errors. Methods: An explanatory sequential mixed-methods design was used, combining a retrospective analysis of 204 patient safety incident reports on nurses’ medication errors with a qualitative study that explored the experiences of eight nurses through thematic analysis. Results: Most of the medication errors occurred during day shifts in intensive and trauma intensive care units. Injectable drugs accounted for 37.7% of errors, with dosage errors being most frequent. Although 67.6% of incidents resulted in no adverse effects, 65.7% were classified as adverse events, and 89.2% of predicted outcomes indicated potential physical harm to patients. Qualitative analysis of interviews yielded 36 meaningful statements, organized into 11 sub-themes and 3 main themes: (1) the whirlwind of negative emotions caused by medication errors, (2) obstacles in the clinical environment hindering adherence to medication principles, and (3) insights and reflections gained from medication error experiences. Conclusion: Organizations can prevent medication errors by improving workload distribution, ensuring safe environments, addressing staffing shortages, promoting a patient safety culture, and providing psychological support for affected nurses to improve their mental health and productivity.
Purpose: This study applied a mixed-methods design to examine the effects of the nurse shift system improvement pilot project, organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, on ward nurses’ quality of life, job satisfaction, and patient safety nursing activities, as well as to explore their overall evaluation of the project through in-depth interviews. Methods: Using a mixed-methods approach, this study simultaneously conducted quantitative analyses of ward nurses’ quality of life, job satisfaction, and patient safety nursing activities, along with qualitative research through in-depth interviews to explore overall perceptions of the nurse shift system improvement pilot project. Results: Patient safety nursing activities showed a significant positive correlations with quality of life (r=.24, p=.017) and job satisfaction (r=.21, p=.038). There was also a significant positive correlation between quality of life and job satisfaction (r=.63, p<.001). As a result of the qualitative analysis, eight facilitating factors and five hindering factors related to the pilot project were identified. Conclusion: Through the research, the effectiveness of the pilot project and the factors influencing nurses were identified. Accordingly, strategies are needed to enhance patient safety nursing activities by improving nurses’ quality of life and job satisfaction in pilot project wards.
본 연구는 한국어교육 분야의 기존 메타버스 관련 개별 연구를 혼합연 구의 방법으로 종합적으로 분석하고 수업 모형 개발을 통해 구체적인 교 육 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 먼저 일차 선정된 한국 어교육 분야의 학술지 논문 및 학위논문 52편을 대상으로 통합 요소를 도출하고, 양적·질적·혼합적 방법으로 결과를 통합하였다. 먼저 양적 통 합 결과 교육 분야에서 많이 활용되는 플랫폼, 학습자 대상 및 숙달도 수준의 경향성을 확인할 수 있었다. 다음으로 혼합적 통합 결과 메타버 스 활용 수업에 대한 인식과 기대, 몰입감 및 실재감과 관련된 의견을 통합할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 질적 통합 결과 기존 연구에서 제안한 수 업 모형 사례를 분석하고 교육 방안과 방향성 내용을 통합하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에서는 메타버스 활용 모듈식 한국어 수업 모형을 제안 하였다. 이 모형은 지식 중심, 상호작용 중심, 수행 중심 모듈로 구분되 며 수업 환경이나 학습자에 따라 적용할 수 있도록 구성되어 효용성이 높다는 점에서 의의가 있다.
Purpose: This mixed methods study aimed to investigate the anxiety and nursing satisfaction levels and experiences among users of a general health checkup center. Methods: A total of 152 participants completed a questionnaire to assess their pre-checkup anxiety and post-checkup nursing satisfaction levels. Additionally, 11 participants were individually interviewed to determine their pre-checkup anxiety and post-checkup nursing satisfaction experiences. Survey data were analyzed using SPSS software, while qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. Results: The mean anxiety scores were 2.80±2.24 on the Visual Analog Scale for Anxiety and 44.06±9.55 on the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) scale. Education level was a significant factor influencing the STAI scores. Participants with a college education or higher had significantly lower STAI scores(p<.005), indicating the association between higher education levels and lower STAI scores. The mean nursing satisfaction score was 36.49±8.84, with male participants reporting higher nursing satisfaction levels. The pre-health checkup anxiety experience included three themes: “contrasting expectations about checkup results,” “various emotions felt during the checkup process,” and “physical and mental reactions.” The health checkup nursing satisfaction experience included four themes: “satisfaction with nurses’ support and care,” “comfort during the checkup process,” “dissatisfaction due to nurses’ habitual responses,” and “expectations for nurses’ emotional support and communication.” Conclusion: Providing comprehensive nursing information is essential to reduce user anxiety and improve nursing satisfaction. Moreover, integrating advanced technologies, such as virtual reality, augmented reality, and metaversing, into information delivery can enhance educational effectiveness and better address the experiences and needs of checkup users.
Purpose: The study aim was to explore the meaning of male nursing students’ experiences in women’s health nursing practicum through photovoice and focus group interviews. Ways to improve the conditions and quality of practicum education for women’s health nurses were explored. Methods: The participants were eight senior male nursing students who had completed a women’s health nursing practicum. They captured topic-specific photos depicting their experiences in a women’s health nursing practicum through the photovoice method and conducted focus group interviews using the PHOTO strategy to explore the meanings behind the photos. The final data were analyzed using a content analysis. Results: The male nursing students’ experiences in the women’s health nursing practicum produced five themes: “The untraveled Way.”, “Role conflicts amid indifference.”, “Opportunities that never come.”, “Unable to overcome gender barrier.”, and “The time of perseverance and hope.”, These five themes were accompanied by 13 sub-themes. Conclusion: Though initially apprehensive, the study participants engaged in women’s health nursing practices with excitement and anticipation. Despite experiencing discrimination and role conflict due to gender differences, they discovered opportunities for growth through a simulation practicum. Anticipating personal development from their experiences, they desired a future in which male nurses would be recognized solely as nurses, without gender distinctions. Efforts are required to enhance awareness and organizational culture and prevent discrimination based on gender differences. Comprehensive endeavors are necessary for enhancing the quality of clinical practice education by developing and validating women’s health nursing practicum programs covering diverse topics.
As one of the biggest service-oriented industries worldwide, the hotel industry significantly contributes to environmental degradation in several ways. Service marketers, consumers, and policy makers are increasingly aware of the damage that excessive natural resources depletion in the guise of water and energy consumption and CO2 emissions by hotels might bring about to the planet. As a result of the growing global concern about climate change, there has been an increase in consumer demand for environmentally-responsible hospitality options. One such option is green hotels, which are environmentally-conscious hospitality properties that are gaining popularity worldwide at a rapid pace. Consumers who prioritize eco-friendliness are willing to pay a premium for green hotels. However, unlike tangible products, services such as hotel experiences are subjective, emotional, and therefore, difficult to evaluate before actual usage. One of the prominent ways in which consumers assess green hotels’ credibility is through user generated content in the form of reviews.
Upgraded activated carbons (ACs) are typically synthesized by mixed methods, such as solid–solid mixing and wet impregnation of low-grade ACs with KOH. This study compares the properties of upgraded ACs prepared by different methods using elemental analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, N2 adsorption isotherms, and X-ray diffraction. In ACs produced by the solid–solid mixing, the ratio of potassium activator is proportional to the surface area and amount of gas produced. However, in wet impregnated ACs, the potassium ratio exhibits a zero or negative correlation. It is demonstrated that potassium ions in solution are not transferred to K2O and do not contribute to the surface area and pore size, generating less amount and different composition of gases. As such, impregnated ACs exhibit similar surface areas and large pores, regardless of the potassium ratio. The physical properties, such as specific surface areas and pore size distribution, of ACs using wet impregnation were similar to the ACs generated by the water physical activation. It indicated that the KOH does not efficiently act as a chemical activator in the wet impregnation method. Therefore, a certain amount and suitable mixing method of chemical activator play an important role in the property upgrade of ACs.
식감과 기능성이 우수한 혼합잡곡의 혼합비율 설정을 위해 보리, 검정콩, 팥, 조, 기장, 수수, 찹쌀 등을 혼합하여 취반전후의 품질 및 이화학 특성을 조사하였다. 아밀로그램 특성은 혼합잡곡 처리구별로 유의적인 차이를 보였으며, 쌀에 혼합할 경우, 잡곡에 비해 최고점도, 최저점도, 강하점도 및 최종점도는 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 쌀을 혼합하지 않은 잡곡과 쌀을 70% 혼합한 잡곡의 수분결합력은 105.32~136.05 및 111.93~127.87%, 용해도는 각각 15.85~25.21 및 4.90~23.89%, 팽윤력은 각각 19.41~22.13 및 19.01~24.29%로 혼합잡곡 처리구별로 유의적인 차이를 보였다. 혼합잡곡을 일반밥솥으로 취반한 밥의 명도, 적색도 및 황색도는 각각 47.62~64.89, 0.83~3.54 및 3.33~8.11이었고, 압력밥솥으로 취반한 혼합잡곡밥은 각각 42.14~59.52, 1.40~4.22 및 3.93~7.32로 혼합잡곡 처리구별로 색도는 유의적인 차이를 보이는 것으로 나타났다. 일반밥솥으로 취반한 혼합잡곡밥의 경도, 탄력, 부착성 및 찰기는 각각 102.2~157.0, 55.1~83.3, 19.3~33.2 및 34.9~50.9, 압력밥솥으로 취반한 혼합잡곡밥은 각각 57.2~119.2, 37.9~ 63.9, 21.4~40.7 및 44.3~72.0으로 혼합잡곡 처리구별로 조직감은 유의적인 차이를 보였으며, 전체적으로 백미밥에 비해 경도와 탄력은 증가, 부착성과 찰기는 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 취반 전 혼합잡곡과 일반 및 압력밥솥으로 취반한 혼합잡곡밥의 총 폴리페놀 함량은 각각 4.46~5.16, 0.58~0.93 및 0.65~0.96 mg GAE/g, 총 플라보노이드 함량은 각각 250.74~ 548.89, 129.26~207.04 및 127.41~218.15 μg CE/g으로 나타났다. DPPH radical 소거활성은 각각 79.25~181.61, 22.07~53.64 및 7.51~39.97 mg TE/100 g, ABTS radical 소거활성은 각각 203.25~328.24, 47.28~84.94 및 58.27~99.51 mg TE/100 g으로 잡곡류의 혼합비율에 따라 유의적인 차이를 보였다. 이상의 결과, 취반방법에 따라 페놀 화합물 함량과 radical 소거활성을 차이를 보여 취반방법에 따라 잡곡의 종류를 달리할 필요가 있을 것으로 생각된다.
This study was carried out to compare the cooked and antioxidant characteristics with of cooked mixed grain rice with an addition rate (0, 5, 10, 15 and 20%) of proso millet and various cooking methods. Mixed grain rice with added proso millet was cooked by general and high pressure cooking methods with and without fermented alcohol. All pasting characteristics, except for breakdown viscosity, decreased with increasing the amounts of proso millet. Water binding capacity and swelling power significantly decreased when increasing the amounts of proso millet, however the water solubility index significantly increased. The palatability characteristics of rice with added proso millet showed similar results to rice without proso millet. Total polyphenol contents of rice with 20% proso millet and fermented alcohol added, cooked by general and high pressure cooking methods, were 184.33±2.69 and 179.80±5.22 μg GAE/g, respectively. Total flavonoid contents increased as amounts of proso millet increased. DPPH radical scavenging activities with and without proso millet added were 4.20~7.50 and 2.97~5.19 mg TE/100 g, respectively. ABTS radical scavenging activities with and without proso millet added were 14.36~27.92 and 14.07~15.83 mg TE/100 g, respectively. In this study, cooked and antioxidant characteristics of cooked mixed grain rice with added proso millet were expected to be used as basic data for manufactured processed products.
동역학의 새로운 변분이론인 혼합 합성 변분이론은 수학물리학을 비롯한 공학에 있어 초기치-경계치 문제해석에 광범위하게 적용될 수 있는 기반을 제공하는 것으로, 본 논문은 이 이론을 토대로 시간에 대한 이차의 형상함수가 적용된 시간 유한요소해석법을 개발하고 그 해석법의 수치특성 확인을 통해 향후 다양한 동적시스템 해석의 적용에 대한 가능성을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 가장 기본적인 선형탄성의 단자유도계가 고려되었다. 에너지 보존시스템의 경우(비감쇠 시스템에 외력이 작용치 않는 경우), 제안된 알고리즘 모두는 time-step에 관계없이 안정적이며 수치감쇠가 없이 에너지와 모멘텀이 보존되는 symplecticity property를 가지고 있음을 확인할 수 있었고, 감쇠시스템인 경우, time-step이 점점 작아질수록 정확한 해에 빠르게 수렴하는 것을 확인하였다.
본 연구는 시특법에 따른 비탈면 상태평가에 활용되는 절리암면비탈면의 가중치에 대한 수정안을 제안했다. 일반적으로 평가 항목 수정 및 각 항목별 가중치 부여와 항목별 평가 기준에 대한 연구는 Delphi 방법 및 AHP 방법 등 전문가의 경험에 의존하는 의사결정기법으로 결정되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 보다 합리적인 결과를 얻기 위하여 기존의 주관적인 방법뿐만 아니라 비탈면의 점검 및 진단 데이터를 활용한 통계적 기법을 함께 활용하여 객관적인 가중치를 제시하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서는 절리암반 비탈면의 점검 데이터를 활용하여 엔트로피의 개념을 적용한 객관적인 가중치를 산정하고, AHP 기법에 의한 주관적 가중치는 전문가의 의견을 토대로 산정하였다. 그리고 두 가지를 결합하여 수정가중치가 제안하였으며, 그 결과, 도출된 절리암반 비탈면의 수정 가중치는 인위적 요인과 손상상태 항목들이 높은 가중치를 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 수정된 평가 기준을 향후 비탈면 세부지침 개정 등에 반영되면 보다 합리적인 절리암반 비탈면의 상태안정성 파악이 가능할것으로 판단된다.
