It is well known that the metallo- phthalocyanine (MPcs) are sensitive to toxic gaseous molecules such as NO2 and also chemically and thermally stable, Therefore, lots of MPcs have been studied for the potential chemical sensor for NO2 gas using quartz crystal microbalance(QCM) or electrical conductivity. In this study, ultra-thin films of octa(2-ethylhexyloxy)copper-phthalocyanine were prepared by Langmuir-Blodgett method and characterized by using UV-VIS absortion spectroscopy and ellipsometry. Transfer condition, and characterization of LB films were investigated and preliminary results of current-voltage(I-V) characteristics of these films exposed to NO2 gas as a function of film thickness and temperature were discussed.
We have synthesized the water-insoluble chitosan derivative, N-dithiocarboxy chitosan sodium salt, through the reaction of chitosan with carbon disulfide in the presence of alkali metal hydroxide, Chitosan itself has been prepared using chitin, one of the most abundant compounds in nature, as a starting material. To elucidate this natural polymer the capacity of adsorbing heavy metal ions, we have performed adsorption experiments using chitosan derivatives of various average molecular weights with different contents of sulfur. The effect of pH, adsorption time and temperature on adsorption efficiency was also studied. The adsorbent derived from chitosan of average molecular weight ranging 5,700~20,000 was shown to have the highest capacity of adsorbing heavy metal ions. Adsorbing efficiency was increased as the reaction time was increased and as the reaction temperature range of 25~45℃. The adsorption capacity at various pH, however, appeared to vary depending on the heavy metal ions studied.
This paper reviews physiological changes in the nervous system of patients with hemiparesis that may contribute to muscle weakness. The discussion includes the important role that alterations in the physiology of motor units, notably changes in firing rates and muscle fiber atrophy, play in the manifestation of muscle weakeness. This role is compared with the lesser role that spasticity of the antagonist muscle group appears to play in determining the weakness of agonist muscles. The contribution of other factors that result in mechanical restraint of the agonist by the antagonist is discussed relative to muscle weakness in patients with hemiparesis. More studies on patients with hemiparesis are required to assess what role muscle strength training should play in rehabiliting patients after a stroke.
The objective of this study was to identify the immediate effects of the short leg brace on the weight bearing distribution and gait patterns of hemiplegic patients. The subjects of this study were 18 hemiplegic patients who had been hospitalized or visited out-patient department of Rehabilitation Hospital, Yonsei University College of Medicine, from January 5, 1996 through March 23, 1996. PLS(Posterior Leaf Spring) on and off changes in gait patterns were measured using ink foot print as well as by recording weight bearing distribution using a limb load monitor. The data were analyzed by the correlation and paired t-test. The findings were as follows: 1. Eighteen subjects were more weighted on the affected leg when PLS was put off(42.74%) than on(40.08%). 2. The defference in gait patterns between PLS on and off was statistically significant, with an increase in step length by 1.7cm on the involved side; a decrease in foot angle by 4.41 degree on the involved side; and a narrowing of base of support by 1.46cm when PLS were off. In conclusion, this study showed that PLS did not affect the weight bearing distribution and gait patterns of hemiplegic patients. Since, the evaluation method used in this study has limitations in regard to temporal distance gait values. Further studies are required to numerous experiments for subject and extensive study.
The purposes of this study were to measure skin temperature and blood flow on the contralateral upper extremity when heat is applied to one upper extremity, were to compare the effect of contrast bath. The subjects were 38 healthy adults with no history of peripheral vascular disease. The subjects of contrast bath were 18 persons and the subjects of warm bath were 20 persons. The subjects of one group were seated with their right arm in water() up to the mid-forearm. The subjects of the other group were seated with their right arm up to the mid-forearm in water which was changed from warm to cold using the contrast bath technique. The continually changing temperatures and blood flow were measured by an independent observer at intervals of 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 minutes respectively after the start of the procedure. The results were as follows. The temperature of the warm bath group rose 4.28% over the pre-experimental temperatures and the temperature of the contrast bath group rose 3.41%. There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups. The blood flow of the warm bath group rose 8.31% over the pre-experimental blood flow and the blood flow of the contrast bath group rose 17.24%. There was a statistically significant between the two groups 20 minutes after the start of the procedure. Thus the contrast bath is a more effective method than the warm bath to increase blood flow.
Two standard methods of cane length measurements were compared to find which methods really achieve the elbow flexion of 20 degrees to 30 degrees Twenty-four patients with hemiplegia who were ambulatory participated in this study. Method I : Length of the cane measured from the floor to the top of the greater trochanter. Method II : Length of the cane measured from the floor to the distal wrist crease with the arm at the side. Using an adjustable cane, each individual was fitted according to the two methods, and elbow angle was measured after each adjustment. The elbow angle according to Method I and Method II was , , respectively. No significant difference was found in the elbow angle or the cane length between the two methods. Of the 24 participants, 5(20.8%) measured according to method I and 3(12.5%) measured according to method II showed the elbow angle between 20 degrees and 30 degrees. These low predictive rates of agreement between ideal cane length and actually achieved elbow angle showed that these two methods which have conventionally been accepted as a standard to measure ideal cane length need to be revised through further research.

To elucidate this natural polymer capacity of adsorbing heavy metal ions, we have performed adsorption experiments using the water-soluble chitosan derivative various average molecular weight and of different percent contents of sulfur. The effect of pH, adsorption time and temperature on adsorption efficiency was also studied. The adsorbent derived from water-soluble chitosan of average molecular weight ranging 9,000~120,000 was shown to have the highest capacity of adsorbing heavy metal ions. On the whole, adsorbing efficiency was increased as the reaction time goes longer and also increased as the reaction temperture goes higer in temperture range of 15℃~45℃. The adsorption capacity at various pH, however, was appeared to vary depending on the heavy metal ions studied Judging from these finding, water-soluble N-dithiocarboxy chitosan sodium salt, a derivative of a biodegradable nature polymer, is believed to be a potential adsorbent for heavy metal ions since it not only is shown to lower the concentration of heavy metal ions to below the drainage quality standard, but also it would not cause acidification and hardening of soil which is one of the detrimental effects of synthetic macromolecular adsorbents present.
화학증착기에 의한 실리콘막의 증착에서 증착기의 기초 진공도는 잔류가스로부터 실리콘 막내로 유입되는 oxygen, carbon과 같은 분순물의 양을 결정하며, 따라서 증착 거동 및 막의 결정성에 영향을 줄 수 있는 공정 변수이다. 본 연구에서는 고진공 화학증착기를 이용하여 기초 진공도는 비정질 실리콘의 증착과 결정화에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 높은 기초 진공도는 비정질/결정질 천이 증착온도의 감소를 가져왔다. 또한 비정질 실리콘막의 결정화 속도 및 박막 결정성을 향상시키는 것으로 조사되었다. 이와 같은 기초 진공도의 영향은 증착시 잔류가스에 함유되는 O, C과 같은 불순물의 영향으로 설명될 수 있었다. 기초 진공도에 따른 실리콘 막의 결정성 향상은 다결정 실리콘 박막 트렌지스터의 구동 특성을 향상시키는 것으로 조사되었다. 기초 진공도가 10-3Torr에서 10-5Torr 로 증가함에 따라 전자 이동도는 17cm2/V.s에서 25cm2/V.s로 증가하였으며 누설전류는 감소하였다.
7월과 9월에 채엽하여 제조방법을 달리하여 제조한 인삼 엽록차의 일반성분 함량은 조단백질, 조회분 함량은 7월엽이 다소 높은 경향이나 조지방과 당의 함량은 9월엽이 비교적 높은 함량을 보여 채엽시기에 따라 성분 함량이 상이한 결과를 보였다. 또한 9월엽을 FHT로 제조하였을 때 유리당의 함량이 증가되었다. 인삼 엽록차의 색깔은 7월에 수확한 HHT의 색을 좋아하는 것으로 나타났고, 일반향기와 인삼엽 특유의 향기는 9월에 수확한 HHT를 좋아했으며, 맛성분은 쓴맛 성분이 너무 강한 것으로 나타나 쓴맛 성분의 조화 또는 제거 과정이 필요한 것으로 지적되었다. 또한 인삼 엽록차에서의 떫은맛, 구수한 맛이나 차를 마신 뒤의 끝향기나 구수한 뒷맛은 FHT나 HHT를 이용할수록 향상되었으며 7월보다는 9월에 수확한 잎에서 더욱 우수한 것으로 평가되었다. 그러므로 인삼 엽록차에 대한 전체적인 기호도는 9월에 수확하여 가열처리 방법으로 제조한 것이 차로서 좋다는 것이 평가되었다.
This study is to analyze the geometrical composition system for the plan of S. Pietro by Michelangelo. In the result of study, the plan is based on the geometrical elements of circle square cross, and shaped to symbolize the Universe which consists of the Heaven the Earth the Man. The plan is constituted of the conception of composition into hierarchy and repetition intersecting 45 degree the same sized square with inscribed square in a circle. Such the geometrical composition system can be found out a large number of example to the geometrical composition of architecture and city planning from Vitruvius to Bramante and Da Vinci. This plan is disposed in balance as the regularly proportional system of 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, which is formed the principal space. And the interior space is constituted of the organic space system, expanding to the direction of horizontal, vertical(ascension), development for primary space and secondary space with center in the geometric composition system of altar.
This study was carried out to select the best cryoprotectant and to establish optimal concentration of the cryoprotectant in ultrarapid freezing of mouse 4-cell embryos and morulae, respectively. We investigated survival of ultrarapid frozen embryos according to various cryoprotectants such as glycerol, ethylene glycol, propylene glycol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). Suvival of the embryos frozen at different concentrations (3.0, 4.0 and 5.0 M) of indivisual cryoprotectant was also tested. Preimplantation developmental rate (96.3%, 83/86) of 4-cell mouse embryos treated with 4.0 M ethylene glycol after ultrarapid freezing and thawing was higher than those of other cryoprotectants (glycerol, propylene glycol and DMSO). In the ultrarapid freezing of mouse morulae, the highest developmental rate (98.8%, 89 /90) of the embryos to blastocysts was shown in the group of 5.0 M glycerol. Thus, these results demonstrate that 4.0 M ethylene glycol and 5.0 M glycerol are optimal for ultrarapid freezing of 4-cell mouse embryos and morulae, respectively.
The school food service system has been an important national policy in Korea. To find out the reference data of the school food service system, we surveyed four primary schools, one middle school, and one food service center in Nara, Japan. The results are as follows; 1. The school food service was carried out in 99.4% of primary school children and in 82.5% of middle school students. 2. The central commissary school food service system was utilized at 49.0% of primary schools and 68.5% of middle schools. 3. The expense of the system is supported partially by the student's parents and partially by the government, of which the support rate was noticed by the law of school food service. 4. The dietary content of school food service was laid down by 'The rule of the operation basis of school food service'. The menu was chosen by the 7 kinds of stepwise meetings. 5. The teachers emphasized on the food etiquette, the appreciation to the food and the personal relationship during meal, as well as on the nutritional balance. 6. We found other problems in Japanese food service system, such as the sanitary problems, the problems of the new tableware, and whether the central kitchen had less advantage than the individual school kitchen. We can conclude that the school food service system is becoming the essential part in school education, and hope to design not only economical but also educational system in Korea, with the consideration of Japanese system.
충의 방제에 효과적으로 이요할 수 있는 Bactllus thuringiensis 균주를 분리하기 위하여 전국의 다양한 토양을 채취하여 B. thuringiensis의 분포와 독성을 조사하였다. 총 548개의 토양을 전국 각지에 채취하여 포자와 내독소 단백질을 생산하는 64개의 B. thuringiensis를 분리했다. 분리된 64개의 B. thuringiensis를 나비목의 누에(Bombyx mori), 파리목의 빨간집모기(Culex pipens), 딱정벌레목의 쌀바구미(Sitophilus oryzae)의 세 종에 대해서 독성을 검정한 결과, 누에에 독성을 띠는 균주가 42.2%로 가장 많았으며, 누에와 빨간집모기에 동시에 독성을 띠는 균주가 31.3%, 빨간집모기에 독성을 띠는 균주는 20.3%의 비율로 분리되어 다양한 독성 분포를 보였다. 그러나 쌀바구미에 독성을 띠는 균주는 분리되지 않았고, 내독소 단백질은 형성하지만 독성이 없는 무독성 B. thuringiensis가 62%의 비율로 분리되었다.
