        This paper presents a novel knitted data glove system for pattern classification of hand posture. Several experiments were conducted to confirm the performance of the knitted data glove. To find better sensor materials, the knitted data glove was fabricated with stainless-steel yarn and silver-plated yarn as representative conductive yarns, respectively. The result showed that the signal of the knitted data glove made of silver-plated yarn was more stable than that of stainless-steel yarn according as the measurement distance becomes longer. Also, the pattern classification was conducted for the performance verification of the data glove knitted using the silver-plated yarn. The average classification reached at 100% except for the pointing finger posture, and the overall classification accuracy of the knitted data glove was 98.3%. With these results, we expect that the knitted data glove is applied to various robot fields including the human-machine interface.

        Agricultural practices are known to have a crucial influence not only on soil physico-chemical properties but also on microbial communities. To investigate the effect of farming practices on soil microbial communities, a total of 10 soil samples were collected, including five conventional and five organic farming soils cultivated with peppers in plastic greenhouse. We conducted barcorded-pyrosequencing of V1-V3 regions of 16S rRNA genes to examine soil microbial communities of two different farming practices. Taxonomic classification of the microbial communities at the phylum level indicated that a total of 22 bacterial phyla were present across all samples. Among them, seven abundant phyla (>3%) including Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, Firmicutes, Acidobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Chloroflexi, and Gemmatimonadetes were found, and Proteobacteria (33.0 ± 5.7%), Actinobacteria (19.9 ± 9.7%), and Firmicutes (13.6 ± 5.0%) comprised more than 66% of the relative abundance of the microbial communities. Organic farming soils showed higher relative abundances of Proteobacteria and Firmicutes, while Actinobacteria and Chloroflexi were more abundant in conventional farming soils. Notably, the genera Bacillus (higher in organic farming soils) and Streptomyces (higher in conventional farming soils) exhibited significant variation in relative abundance between organic and conventional farming soils. Finally, correlation analysis identified significant relationships (p<0.05) between soil chemical properties, in particular, pH and organic matter content and microbial communities. Taken together, this study demonstrated that the changes of soil physico-chemical properties by agricultural farming practices effected significantly (p<0.05) on soil microbial communities.

        This paper proposes a pattern recognition and classification algorithm based on a circular structure that can reflect the characteristics of the sEMG (surface electromyogram) signal measured in the arm without putting the placement limitation of electrodes. In order to recognize the same pattern at all times despite the electrode locations, the data acquisition of the circular structure is proposed so that all sEMG channels can be connected to one another. For the performance verification of the sEMG pattern recognition and classification using the developed algorithm, several experiments are conducted. First, although there are no differences in the sEMG signals themselves, the similar patterns are much better identified in the case of the circular structure algorithm than that of conventional linear ones. Second, a comparative analysis is shown with the supervised learning schemes such as MLP, CNN, and LSTM. In the results, the classification recognition accuracy of the circular structure is above 98% in all postures. It is much higher than the results obtained when the linear structure is used. The recognition difference between the circular and linear structures was the biggest with about 4% when the MLP network was used.

        This paper presents a multiple DoFs (degrees-of-freedom) prosthetic forearm and sEMG (surface electromyogram) pattern recognition and motion intent classification of forearm amputee. The developed prosthetic forearm has 9 DoFs hand and single-DoF wrist, and the socket is designed considering wearability. In addition, the pattern recognition based on sEMG is proposed for prosthetic control. Several experiments were conducted to substantiate the performance of the prosthetic forearm. First, the developed prosthetic forearm could perform various motions required for activity of daily living of forearm amputee. It was able to control according to shape and size of the object. Additionally, the amputee was able to perform ‘tying up shoe’ using the prosthetic forearm. Secondly, pattern recognition and classification experiments using the sEMG signals were performed to find out whether it could classify the motions according to the user’s intents. For this purpose, sEMG signals were applied to the multilayer perceptron (MLP) for training and testing. As a result, overall classification accuracy arrived at 99.6% for all participants, and all the postures showed more than 97% accuracy.

        The paper proposes a stiffness measurement device composed of a measurement part including six indenters and a fixing part including four fixtures. The device is able to make simultaneously measurements of the stiffness of human arm. The six indenters make use of both position and force control schemes sequentially whenever needed. In addition, the loadcells and the digital encoders are attached to the indenters and electric motors, respectively, so that the data can be provided in real time. On the end of the indenter, two-axis potentiometer is attached in order to measure the angle difference between the applied force axis and the axis normal to the skin of human arm, and to convert the force measured on the loadcell into the actual applied force to skin. For this purpose, the mapping between the voltage output and the angle of potentiometer was obtained by fitting it for each axis. Ultimately, the measurement device was able to measure the stiffnesses of six regions of human arm.

        The recent prosthetic technologies pursue to control multi-DOFs (degrees-of-freedom) hand and wrist. However, challenges such as high cost, wear-ability, and motion intent recognition for feedback control still remain for the use in daily living activities. The paper proposes a multi-channel knit band sensor to worn easily for surface EMG-based prosthetic control. The knitted electrodes were fabricated with conductive yarn, and the band except the electrodes are knitted using non-conductive yarn which has moisture wicking property. Two types of the knit bands are fabricated such as sixteen-electrodes for eight-channels and thirty-two electrodes for sixteen-channels. In order to substantiate the performance of the biopotential signal acquisition, several experiments are conducted. Signal to noise ratio (SNR) value of the knit band sensor was 18.48 dB. According to various forearm motions including hand and wrist, sixteen-channels EMG signals could be clearly distinguishable. In addition, the pattern recognition performance to control myoelectric prosthesis was verified in that overall classification accuracy of the RMS (root mean squares) filtered EMG signals (97.84%) was higher than that of the raw EMG signals (87.06%).

        In this study, an operational data set was analysed by establishing a path model to figure out the actual cause-effect relationship of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP); in particular, for the effluent concentrations of T-N and T-P. To develop the path models, data sets of operational records including effluent concentrations and operational factors were obtained from a field scale WWTP of 680,000 m3 of treatment capacity. The models showed that the relationship networks with the correlation coefficients between variables for objective expressions indicated the strength of each relationship. The suggested path models were verified according to whether the analyzation results matched known theories well, but sophisticated minute theoric relationships could not be cropped out distinctly. This indicates that only a few paths with strong theoric casual relationships were represented as measured data due to the high non-linearity of the mechanism of the removal process in a biological wastewater treatment.

        목적: 본 연구의 목적은 저소득층 아동·청소년의 신체 활동에 관한 선행연구를 토대로 신체활동상담 프로그램을 개발하고, 이를 아동·청소년에게 적용하여 그 효과를 검증하는 것이었다. 방법: 인천에 소재한 초등학교 2개교와 중학교 2개교의 재학생 중 저소득층 학생 189명(초등학생 92명, 중학생 97명)이 선정되어 초등학교 46명, 중학교 50명이 실험집단에 배정되어 신체 활동 상담 프로그램이 12주간 진행되었다. 프로그램의 효과 검증은 양적 연구방법과 질적 연구방법을 병행하는 동시적 혼합연구 방법을 사용하였다. 양적 연구에서는 프로그램의 적용 효과를 검증하기 위하여 네 가지 항목, 즉 유연성, 근력, 순발력, BMI를 측정하였다. 신체적 자기개념의 변화를 알아보기 위해 최선인, 정청희, 김병준(2005)의 신체적 자기개념 측정 도구를 사용하였다. 체력검사와 신체적 자기개념 검사 모두 사전 검사, 사후검사, 지연검사를 12주 간격으로 실시하여 이원혼합 설계 분산분석을 활용하여 자료를 처리하였다. 한편, 질적 연구에서는 양적 연구에 참여한 학생 중 무작위로 초등학생 13명, 중학생 12명을 대상으로 비참여적 관찰, 반구조화 개별 면담, 학생 신체 활동일지를 활용하여 문화 기술적 연구를 시행하였다. 연구 자료는 영역분석과 분류 분석의 절차를 통해 자료의 분석이 이루어졌다. 결과: 양적인 연구에서는 4가지의 체력검사와 6가지의 신체적 자기개념 검사별로 이원분산분석을 실시하여 사후검사에서는 프로그램의 효과가 있다는 것을 확인하였으나 지연검사에서는 일부 요인에서 집단별 평균점수의 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 질적 연구에서 학생들은 신체 활동과 영양에 관한 지식, 개인 내적 변화(체력향상, 재미, 건강증진, 학업태도의 변화), 관계향상에서 진전이 있었다고 하였다.

        Planetary global localization is necessary for long-range rover missions in which communication with command center operator is throttled due to the long distance. There has been number of researches that address this problem by exploiting and matching rover surroundings with global digital elevation maps (DEM). Using conventional methods for matching, however, is challenging due to artifacts in both DEM rendered images, and/or rover 2D images caused by DEM low resolution, rover image illumination variations and small terrain features. In this work, we use train CNN discriminator to match rover 2D image with DEM rendered images using conditional Generative Adversarial Network architecture (cGAN). We then use this discriminator to search an uncertainty bound given by visual odometry (VO) error bound to estimate rover optimal location and orientation. We demonstrate our network capability to learn to translate rover image into DEM simulated image and match them using Devon Island dataset. The experimental results show that our proposed approach achieves ~74% mean average precision.

        This study was conducted to investigate the effect of chlorine dioxide fumigation as a substitute for sulfur fumigation which has been used as a method to prevent the quality change of persimmon during storage and distribution process. Dried persimmons were treated with chlorine dioxide gas concentration (0, 15 30, and 45 ppm) and time (0, 15, 30, and 45 min) and microbiological changes, texture properties and color of the treated samples were investigated during storage at room temperature. Total aerobic bacteria, yeast and mold numbers after chlorine dioxide gas fumigation were decreased when compared with the control group. The inhibitory effects of total aerobic bacteria, yeast, and mold were observed during storage. The texture properties and color value of dried persimmons were not affected by chlorine dioxide gas fumigation concentration and time. There was no difference in quality between chlorine dioxide gas fumigation treatment group and control group. These results suggested that chlorine dioxide gas fumigation treatment can be utilized as a processing technique to secure microbiological storage stability of dried persimmons.

        This study identified the effect of changes in the riverbed on the benthic macroinvertebrate communities. The benthic macroinvertebrates collected from the surveyed sites belonged to 119 species, 65 families, 20 orders, and 7 classes in 4 phyla. The number of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (E.P.T) species was 42, 10, and 8, respectively, in the tributary, confluence, and Nakdong River sites. Lotic species (Hydropsychidae) showed a high density at the tributary sites, whereas lentic species (Chironomidae) showed a high density at the confluence and Nakdong River sites. Community analysis showed that the Dominance Index (DI) was 0.54 in tributary sites, and dominance indices increased closer to the Nakdong River sites. The diversity index (H’) was inversely proportional to DI. The ratio of Burrowers species (BU) at the surveyed sites increased closer to the Nakdong River sites. Analysis of common species showed 37 species (34.6%) between the tributary and confluence sites and 66 species (51.5%) between the confluence and Nakdong River sites.

        목적: 본 연구의 목적은 저소득층 아동⋅청소년의 신체활동 장애요인을 탐색하여 신체활동을 촉진할 수 있는 전략을 모색하는 것이다. 방법: 신체활동 장애요인의 정보를 얻어 나타난 주제에 대한 제언을 하기 위해 변형근거 이론이 활용되었다. 58명의 아동⋅청소년을 대상으로 개별 반구조화면담, 집단 초점 면담, 현장노트를 통해 자료를 수집하였으며, 전사된 자료는 항시 비교 방법을 통해 범주화되었고, 이 자료는 요인끼리의 상호관련성이 검토되고 3 가지의 주제로 조직되었으며, 이는 다시 본 연구 자료의 개념적 틀로 형성되었다 본 연구자와 세 명의 연구보조자들이 일련의 회의를 통해 나타난 개념적 틀을 고찰, 토의하는 과정을 통해 확정되었다. 문헌연구와 두 명의 외부전문가의 피드백을 통해 본 연구의 외재적 타당성이 향상되었다. 결과: 본 연구의 결과는 세 가지의 주제에 따라 논의되었다. 이들 주제는 선행요인, 동기 유발요인, 제언이었다. 선행 요인은 신체활동에 대한 개인 내적, 외재적 장애요소였다. 동기유발 요인은 신체활동에 참여하고자 하는 개인의 욕구를 활성화시킬 수 있는 요소들이다. 제언 요소는 신체활동을 증진하기 위해 참여자가 규명할 수 있는 아이디어들이다. 결론: 본 연구는 신체활동을 촉진할 수 있는 중재전략을 세우기 위해 필요한 종합적 접근방법을 강조하고 있다. 신체활동을 위한 제언은 보다 건강한 생활양식을 활성화시켜 신체활동을 증가시키는 것이다.

        목적: 이 연구의 목적은 영유아 어머니의 운동행동 실천에 따른 양육스트레스의 차이를 분석하고, 이들의 운동제약 요인을 탐색하는 것이다. 방법: 연구대상자는 0세부터 6세까지의 자녀를 둔 어머니 275명이며, 측정도구는 운동행동변화단계, 한국판 양육스트레스 축약형 척도(K-PSI-SF), 운동제약 요인에 대한 개방형 질문이다. 수집된 자료는 확인적 요인분석, 독립 t-검증, 귀납적 내용분석에 의해 처리되었다. 결과: 첫째, 영유아 어머니의 운동실천에 따른 양육스트레스는 부모의 고통 요인과 총 양육스트레스 요인에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타났다 (p< 0.05). 그러나 부모-자녀 간 역기능적 상호작용 요인과 아동의 까다로운 기질 요인은 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다(p >0.05). 둘째, 영유아 어머니의 운동제약 요인에 대한 귀납적 내용 분석의 결과는 환경적, 대인적, 개인적 영역의 세 영역으로 범주화 되었다. 환경적 영역은 시간적, 경제적, 프로그램 및 정보 제약의 범주를 포함하며, 대인적 영역은 아이돌봄과 주요타자 제약이, 개인적 영역에는 신체적, 심리적 제약을 포함한다. 결론: 이 연구를 통해 영유아 어머니들의 운동행동 실천에 따라 양육스트레스에 부분적으로 차이가 나타나는 것을 확인하였으며, 이들의 운동제약 요인을 탐색하였다. 미래 연구에서는 영유아 어머니들의 규칙적인 운동실천을 위한 운동 상담 프로그램의 개발 관련 연구가 수행될 것을 제언하는 바이다.

        Although rice has been cultivated as a major food crop for approximately 5,000 years, the interest of customers in ‘scented rice’ is a recent trend in the Korean market. As a part of developing a germinated scented rice variety, the newly bred scented rice variety ‘Cheonjihyang-1 se’ was germinated for 24 h, and changes in profiles of flavor-related volatiles, lipophilic phytonutrients, and fatty acids were investigated. The profiling of volatile compounds by using a headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-GC-MS) revealed a total of 56 odor-active flavoring compounds; 52 at the pre-germination stage, 51 at the post-germination stage, and 47 common at both stages. The major flavoring compounds were nonanol and benzene, which constituted 11.5% and 6.6%, respectively, of the total peak area in pre-germinated rice, and 19.4% and 6.5%, respectively, in post-germinated rice. Germination induced an increase in 13 flavoring compounds, including 3,3,5-trimethylheptane and 1-pentadecene, which increased by 763 and 513%, respectively by germination. However, we observed a germination-induced decrease in most of the other flavoring compounds. Especially, the most important scented rice-specific popcorn-flavoring compound, 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline, showed 89% decrease due to germination. Furthermore, the germination of scented rice induced a decrease in the content of various phytonutrients. For example, the total contents of phytosterols, squalene, and tocols decreased from 207.97, 31.74, and 25.32 μg g -1 at pre-germination stage down to 136.66, 25.12, and 17.76 μg g -1 , respectively at post-germination stage. The fatty acid compositions were also affected by germination. The composition of three major fatty acids, linoleic, oleic, and palmitic acids, increased from 36.6, 34.2, and 24.4%, respectively, at the pre-germination stage to 37.9, 36.9, and 20.7%, respectively, at the post-germination stage. All these results suggested significant changes in the flavor-related compounds and phytonutrients of the scented rice variety ‘Cheonjihyang-1 se’ during the process of germination, and subsequently the need for developing a more precise process of germination to enhance the flavor and nutritional quality of the germinated scented rice products.

        This research, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Environment in 2014, was the first epidemiological study in Korea that investigated the health impact assessment of radon exposure. Its purpose was to construct a model that calculated the annual mean cumulative radon exposure concentrations, so that reliable conclusions could be drawn from environment-control group research. Radon causes chronic lung cancer. Therefore, the long-term measurement of radon exposure concentration, over one year, is needed in order to develop a health impact assessment for radon. Hence, based on the seasonal correction model suggested by Pinel et al.(1995), a predictive model of annual mean radon concentration was developed using the year-long seasonal measurement data from the National Institute of Environmental Research, the Korea Institute of Nuclear Safety, the Hanyang University Outdoor Radon Concentration Observatory, and the results from a 3-month (one season) survey, which is the official test method for radon measurement designated by the Korean Ministry of Environment. In addition, a model for evaluating the effective annual dose for radon was developed, using dosimetric methods.         The purpose of this study was to screen desirable yeast strains for alcoholic fermentation of tomato paste without sugar addition. The moisture, crude protein, crude fat, ash, and soluble nitrogen contents of the tomato paste (25 °Brix) were found to be 67.33%, 1.90%, 0.03%, 0.02%, and 30.72%, respectively. Free sugars found in the paste were fructose and glucose. Most abundant free amino acids of the paste were glutamic, aspartic, and γ-aminobutyric acids. Total seven yeast strains (Saccharomyces cerevisiae KDH (TWA), S. cerevisiae Lalvin ICVD-47 (TWB), S. cerevisiae Lalvin RC-212 (TWC), S. cerevisiae Lalvin K1-V1116 (TWD), S. bayanus Lalvin EC-1118 (TWE), S. cerevisiae Enoferm (TWF), and S. cerevisiae DJ97(KCTC8842P) (TWG)) were tasted for alcohol fermentation of the tomato paste. The highest alcohol content (8.2%) and the lowest residual sugar content (13.25 °Brix) were observed in the tomato paste fermented using the S. cerevisiae Lalvin ICVD-47 strain (TWB) after 3 day and 4 day of fermentation, respectively. Sugar and reducing sugar contents, and pH of the tomato paste were not remarkably affected by the difference in yeast strains used, showing 13.25~13.45 °Brix, 28.37~28.48 mg/mL, and 4.43~4.54, respectively, after 4 day of fermentation. Color and total acid content were significantly affected by the types of yeast strains and fermentation time, but the numerical changes were negligible. These results indicate that TWB would be the suitable strain for alcoholic fermentatiom of tomato paste based on its highest alcohol production and the lowest residual sugar content produced during fermentation.

        The objective of this study was to make a SBR+MBR complex process to evaluate the possible use of the advanced water treatment system for ships (SBR+MBR complex process) in accordance with the amendments MAPOL 73/78 that went into effect. The conditions 1 and 2 did not show the quick reduction in anaerobic condition while in the precipitation and stirring stages of the SBR treatment which was determined to be ineffective denitrification, same as with the ORP. Removal of organic matters such as BOD5 and CODCr in the SBR treatment was observed to happen smoothly and going through the MBR treatment as well would provide a stable water quality. However, the results were not satisfactory in accordance with BOD5 25 mg/L and CODCr 125 mg/L. Thus, the operating conditions improvement is deemed necessary. Likewise for the nutrients (T-N and T-P), the nitrification in bioreactor, denitrification and phosphorus absorption in aerobic tank due to phosphorus release in anaerobic tank had not been proceeded effectively. It was concluded that the improved operating conditions and structural changes would provide more effective treatments since the removal rates of T-N and T-P were less than 70% and 80%, respectively, which were standards specified by the MEPC. 227(64).

        There are two treatment processes that are currently applied to ships are the biological treatment process using the activated sludge and the electrochemical treatment. However, neither of them are able to remove both nitrogen and phosphorus due to their limited ability to remove organic matters, which are main causes of the red tide. This study was conducted to identify the characteristics of nitrogen removal factors from manure wastewater by replacing the final settling tank in SBR (Sequencing Batch Reactor) process and applying immersion type hollow fiber membrane. SBR process is known to have an advantage of the least land requirement in special environment such as in ship and the immersion type hollow fiber membrane is more stable in water quality change. As the result, the average in the cases of DO (Dissolved Oxygen) is 2.9(0. 6∼3.9) mg/L which was determined to be the denitrifying microorganism activity in anaerobic conditions. The average in the cases of ORP (Oxidation Reduction Potential) is 98.4∼237.3 mV which was determined to be the termination of nitrification since the inflection point was formed on the ORP curve due to decrease in the stirring treatment after the aeration, same as in the cases of DO. Little or no variation in the pH was determined to have positive effect on the nitrification. T-N (Total Nitrigen) removal efficiencies of the finally treated water were 71.4%, 72.3% and 66.5% in relatively average figures, thus was not a distinct prominence. In being applied in ships in the future, the operating conditions and structure improvements are deemed necessary since the MEPC (Marine Environment Protection Committee). 227(64) ship sewage nitrogen is less than the standard of 20 Qi/Qe mg/L or the removal rate of 70%.

        This study was carried out to inventory the vascular plant flora in Deokjeokdo and its adjacent regions (Mungapdo, Soyado), Ongjin-gun, South Korea, from April to October 2014. Based on the voucher specimens, vascular plants in this area consisted of 108 families, 362 genera, 578 species, 5 subspecies, 66 varieties and 4 forms, totally 653 taxa. In the flora of this area, 5 taxa of Korean endemic plants were found distributed in the sites, including Hepatica insularis Nakai and Asarum glabrata (C.S.Yook & J.G.Kim) B.U.Oh. Korean rare and endangered plants found in this area were 1 taxa of Critical Endangered Species (CR) and 5 taxa of Vulnerable Species (VU). The floristic regional indicator plants found in this area were 67 taxa comprising 3 taxa of grade V, 2 taxa of grade IV, 12 taxa of grade III, 3 taxa of grade II and 47 taxa of grade I. Naturalized plants consisted of 67 taxa, such as Chenopodium album L. and Erigeron annuus (L.) Pers. were recognized widely distributed in the area.
