        The bark of Berberis koreana Palibin was fermented by Bifidobacterium longum B6 and Lactobacillus paracasei at 37℃ for 72 hour, then extracted by water solvent at 100℃ for 180 min. Total pholyphenol and flavonoid contents were improved by fermentation process, compared to conventional water extraction. The barks of B. koreana Palibin extracts by B. longum B6 (FE-B.L.) and by L. paracasei (FE-L.P.) showed 17% and 16% cytotoxicity on human normal cell lines(HEK293) at 1.0 mg/ml of the highest concentration, respectively, which was about 3~5% lower than 20% from normal extracts (NE). DPPH radical scavenging activity of the FE-B.L. and FE-L.P. were about 73% and 75.9% higher than 56.8% of NE. The highest inhibitory potency on xathine oxidase and superoxide dismutase (SOD)-like activities were also measured as 31.9% and 61.9% by adding FE-L.P. of 1.0 mg/ml. On tyrosinase inhibition test, the FE-L.P. showed highest activity as 75.9% at 1.0 mg/ml. Generally, FE-L.P. showed higher antioxidant activities as well as higher tyrosinase inhibition activity, possibly due to high contents of total pholyphenol and flavonoid. In general, fermentation of barks of B. koreana Palibin has relatively better biological activities than normal extracts. Specifically, the extracts fermented by L. paracasei showed higher activities than that from B. longum B6.

        This work was to improve antimicrobial activities of horseradish by encapsulated with edible biopolymers such as lecithin and gelatin since it has been difficult to directly use horseradish extracts into foods and food containers due to its strong and undesirable flavors. It was shown that most of the nanoparticles containing the extracts were well formed in round shape with below 400 nm diameter as well as fairly stable and less odd flavors in various pH ranges by measuring zeta potentials. The encapsulation efficiencies of nanoparticles were estimated as 66.6% and 53.4% for lecithin and gelatin, respectively. Minimal Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) of both nanoparticles against G(+), Listeria monocytogenes and G(-), Salmonella typhimurium were also measured as 79 ppm based on AIT concentrations in the extracts, whose activities were about 65% higher than the case of adding crude extract. It was also found that the nanoparticles efficiently penetrated into the cell membrane and started to destruct the cells after 6 hours cultivation under Transmision Electron Microscopy observation. These results prove that the nano-encapsulation of the horseradish extracts can be employed to directly treat into the foods and food containers for antimicrobial purposes with the aids of aerosolization system, by using small amounts of the extracts and having less flavors due to masking effects of nanoparticles.

        This study was carried out in order to observe how the bay sediment would be changed with microbial treatments and a chemical oxidant like CaO2. The sediment during the treatments was analyzed in terms of pH, ORP, volatile organics content, COD, AVS, T-N, and T-P. With CaO2 treatment, pH was kept over 9.66 and ORP ranged from +4.70~+46.0, which meant an aerobic state meanwhile with the microbial treatment those were worse. In addition the chemical treatment showed better environmental index values than the microbial one: volatile organics content and COD values in the former were 12.9% and 37.9% while those in the latter were 4.5% and 18.7%, respectively. AVS and T-P were 71.1% and 100% versus 56.5% and 85.8%, respectively. However, the microbial treatment was better for T-N(66% higher). On the other hand, both treatment at a time enhanced all the environmental indices but COD meantime pH and ORP values were lower than with the chemical treatment only. Thus additional input of an oxygen generator like CaO2 could improve the environmental state of a bay sediment where the biological treatment is going on.

        This study showed the increase of antitumor activities of water soluble E. sinica extract by nano-encapsulation process with lecithin. Five groups of lecithin only group (LO), lecithin nano-encapsulated E. sinica group (LE), E. sinica only group (EO), one negative control group (NCO) and positive control group (PCO) were set for several anticancer experiment and fed into Sarcoma-180 injected mice. The cytotoxicity of LE on the human normal kidney cell (HEK293) showed 14.8% lower than 19.2% of EO and 18.4% of LO. Growth of human liver carcinoma cell and human stomach carcinoma cell as representative of digestive system in vitro was inhibited up to about 85.1% and 87.3%, in adding 1.0 mg/ml of LE, which values 15% higher than that from conventional EO. The survival rates of each mice group were 40%, 63%, 48%, 33% and 100%, respectively after 40 days of injecting Sarcoma-180. The increment of their body weights of the extract feeding groups was suppressed down to 10~15%, compared to the negative control. The nano-particles also reduced the hypertrophy of the internal organs such as spleen and liver down to 15~20%, compared to those as the other groups. Among them, LE effectively reduced the size of tumor form to 20%. From these results, in vitro and in vivo antitumor activities of E. sinica could be enhanced by using nano-encapsulation process with lecithin because of better permeation into the cancer cells by confocal observations.

        Low quality fresh ginseng was fermented by Pheliuus linteus mycelium at 22℃ for 30 days, then extracted by water solvent at 100℃ for 180 min. On human normal cell lines (HEK293), cytotoxicity was about 10% lower in adding extracts of the fermentation ginseng than that from low quality ginseng. The fermented extracts also inhibited the growth of several human cancer cells. Among them, respectively, digestive organs related cancer cells, such as human stomach adenocarcnioma and human epithelial adenocarcinoma were most effectively inhibited up to 85% and 90%, respectively. Then, selectivities were in the ranges of 3 to 5, compared to 2 to 3 from low quality fresh ginseng. Generally, fermented ginseng extract showed higher anticancer activities as well as higher DPPH radical sacavening activity, possibly due to high contents of total phenolic components as 6.96 mg/g. It was very interesting that the fermented ginseng contained very higher contents of ginsenoside-Rc+Rb2, compared to others in low quality fresh ginseng because of partition digestion of mycelium growth. The results can tell that low quality fresh ginseng can be utilized by the fermentation with Pheliuus linteus mycelium.

        본 연구에서는 화훼장식품의 가치제고와 대중화를 위해 새로운 감상 모델을 제시하였다. 그 구성요소로 서 제목, 외관, 소재와 함께 스타일을 감상 기준으로 설정하였다. 이를 근거로 하여 새로운 감상 모델을 개발하고 꽃모델이라고 지칭하였다. 꽃모델을 화훼장식품 감상에 적용한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 작품 해석의 다양성을 도출 및 입증할 수 있었다. 둘째, 형식과 내용의 측면에서 작품의 전체와 이를 구성하는 부분적 요소 간의 관련성을 통합적이고 유기적요로 반영할 수 있었다. 셋째, 화훼장식의 학문적 연구률 위한 접근 방식의 한계점을 극복할 수 있었다. 넷째, 감상시각의 구체화를 실현할 수 있었다. 다섯째,작품 감상의 다양한 사유를 유도할 수 있으므로 교육적 효과를 지닐 수 있을 것으로 생각되었다.

        Rapid industrialization has brought Nam-Hae area serious environmental problems associated with released oil and other hydrocarbons. In this work, in order to enhance the quality of the shoreline sediment we made enviro-chemical analyses of its substances, TPHs and microbial growth after treating with oxygen releasing compound(ORC) such as MgO2. Total organic compound(TOC) was reduced from 33.45% to 25.1∼31.08% meanwhile COD decreased from 27.5∼28.9mg/g·dry to 19.9∼26.1mg/g·dry for input of 2∼10% MgO2 in 20days. For 10% MgO2 input, TP and TN were reduced by 13.3% and 18.8%, respectively. Most of all TPH was decomposed by max. 42.4% in 21days, and the total viable count of microbes was found to be exponentially increased by 75.9%.

        본 연구의 목적은 시합에서 승리하거나 패했을 때 자기고양 및 자기핸디캡 수준에 따라서 승패결과 귀인이 달라지는지 또한 그 차이가 이기적 편향 혹은 집단 이기적 편향의 방향으로 나타나는지 증명하는 것이다. 연구 참여자는 경기도 소재 6개 고교 축구팀 204명이며, 이들에게 자기고양, 자기핸디캡, 승패결과 귀인 질문지를 배포하고 시합의 중요도 및 자기관여를 평정하게 했다. 자기고양과 자기핸디캡의 수준에 따른 승패결과 귀인의 차이를 살펴 보기 위해 기술 통계 분석과 이원 다변량분석(2-way MANOVA)을 실시했다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 자기고양이 높은 선수들은 승리했을 때 팀 실력이 더 기여한 것으로 판단했고 자기고양이 낮은 선수들은 자기 실력이 더 기여한 것으로 판단했다. 또한 자기핸디캡이 낮은 선수들은 운 때문에 이기거나 상대방이 못해서 이겼다고 판단했다. 둘째, 패배상황에서 자기고양이 높은 선수들은 자신의 책임이 작고 운이 없어서 졌다고 판단했다. 또한 자기핸디캡이 높은 선수들은 운이 없어서, 자기핸디캡이 낮은 선수들은 상대방이 잘해서 패배한 것으로 판단했다. 연구결과를 토대로 선수들의 자기고양과 자기핸디캡이 이기적 편향이나 집단이기적 편향으로 나타났다는 점을 제시했고 이에 대해서 논의를 제시했다. 마지막으로 본 연구의 제한점과 시사점을 토대로 후속연구에 대한 제언을 했다.

        Enhancement effect of ultrasonification process on UV-protection and skin-whitening activities using Centella asiatica L. Urban extract was investigated. Cytotoxicity of the extracts measured on human skin fibroblast cells, CCD-986sk, and then, ultrasonification associated extracts showed 5~9% lower cytotoxicity then normal crude extracts on 1.0 mg/ml of highest sample concentration. The associated extrats showed highest inhibition activity of hyaluronidase on 1.0 mg/ml of concentration as 54.2%. Also, the associated extract reduced expression of MMP-1 on UV-irradiated CCD-986sk cells down to 100.2% from 136.1%, and revealed high inhibitory potency on tyrosinase as 74.6% by adding 1.0 mg/ml of concentration. Ultrasonification associated extract showed strong inhibition effect of melanin production on Clone M-3 cells as 84.2% by adding 1.0 mg/ml of concentration. From the preliminary observations, we considered that the extracts from C. asiatica could be potent natural materials for skin-whitening and anti-aging agent, and could enhance the activities by ultrasonification process.

        본 연구에서는 화훼장식의 가치를 제고하기 위하여 문헌에 나타난 예술의 정의, 특성, 목적, 요건, 범주, 종류를 통해 화훼장식이 예술의 한 분야에 속할 수 있음을 고찰하였다. 그 결과 의미와 정서 전달, 인식의 다양성, 표현의 다양성, 제작과 관리의 기술, 그리고 미와 선의 추구가 주요 내용에 속하였다. 이와 같은 예술의 보편적 요건들 속에서 화훼장식의 특성을 찾을 수 있었다. 또한 이러한 점들은 화훼장식의 정의 속에도 이미 내포되어 있었다. 그러므로 본 연구를 통해서 화훼장식이 예술의 범주에 속할 수 있다는 근거를 찾을 수 있었다.

        An objective of this study is as follows: 1) performing sensitivity analysis and parameter estimation of RMA2 and RMA4 models for the West-Nakdong River, 2) drawing up alternatives of gates-operation for water-quality enhancement, and 3) quantitative evaluation of methodology of 'flow-restoration by gates-operation' among 'Comprehensive Plan Improving Water-Quality in the West-Nakdong River(WNR)' with the target water-quality(BOD at Nakbon-N point: below 4.3 mg/L). The parameters for the RMA2 (depth-averaged two-dimensional flow model) and RMA4 (depth-averaged two-dimensional water-quality model) were determined by sensitivity analysis. Result of parameter estimation for RMA2 and RMA4 models is 1,000 Pa․s of the eddy viscosity, 20 of the Peclet number, 0.025 of the Manning coefficient, and 1.0 m2/s of the diffusion coefficient. We have evaluated the effects of water-quality enhancement of the selected alternatives by numerical simulation technique with the models under the steady-state flow condition and the time-variant transport condition. Because of no-resuspension from river bottom and considering BOD as conservative matter, these simulation results slightly differ from real phenomena. In the case of 50 m3/s of Daejeo-gate inflow, two-dimensional flow pn results result represents that small velocity occurs in the Pyungkang Stream and no flow in the Maekdo River. In the WNR, there occurs the most rapid flow near timhae-bridge. In the WNR, changes of water-quality for the four selected simulation cases(6, 10, 30, 50 m3/s of the Daejeo-gate inflow) were predicted. Since the Daejeo-Gate and the Noksan-Gate can be opened up to 7 days, it would be found that sustainable inflow of 30 m3/s at the Daejeo-gate makes BOD in the WNR to be under the target of water-quality.

        자운영답 입모부족시 생초량 증진방법을 구명하고자 실시한 시험결과는 다음과 같다. 1. 3월초에 Sethoxydim 유제로 둑새풀을 일찍 방제시 방제가가 84%로 높았으나 처리시기가 늦을 수록 방제효과는 낮았다. 2. 둑새풀 방제후(처리 76일 후) 자운영 입모수는 처리전과 비슷하였고 가을철 재입모수도 처리전에 비해 2.2~2.6 배가 증가 하였으나 무처리는 둑새풀과 경합에 의해 자운영 입모수가 감소하였다. 3. 둑새풀 방제후 자운영 건물중은 자운영 피복도가 20%일때 63%, 50% 피복도일 때 164%가 증가하였고 질소함량으로는 12.3 kg, 16.4 kg/10a으로 표준질소시비량 9 kg/10a 보다 높았다. 4. 둑새풀 방제에 따른 쌀 수량은 기계이앙 및 부분경운 이앙 모두 무방제와 비슷하였다.

        Phosphatidylcholine was used to encapsulate aqueous extracts of Centella asiatica, and its biological activity was compared with another aqueous extracts. Nanoparticle of C. asiatica was made by encapsulation to w/o type spherical liposome which of aqueous extracts seized with oil phase as 78.2 nm average diameter. Cytotoxicity of the nanoparticle was measured on human skin fibroblast cells, CCD-986sk, and showed lower cytotoxicity on 1.0 mg/ml of highest concentration as 28% than that of another extracts. The nanoparticle showed the highest promotion of human B and T cell growth up to 138% and 135%, respectively, compared to the control. and the NK cell growth was promoted up to 8% higher than the control in proportion to secretion of IL-6 and TNF-α from immune cell growth. Also nanoparticle showed highest inhibition activity of hyaluronidase on 1.0 mg/ml of highest concentration as 60.5%. It seems that because of enhanced biological application of aqueous extracts on cell through nano-encapsulation process.

        This study was performed to enhance anticancer activities of E. sinica, and A. gigas by ultra high pressure extraction process. The cytotoxicity of E. sinica and A. gigas on human kidney cell (HEK293) was as low as 24.94% and 25.3% in adding 1.0 mg/ml of the sample extracted at 500 Mpa for 15 minute. Generally, the inhibition of cancer cell growth on A549 and MCF-7 was increased over 20% in the ultra high pressure samples, compared to the conventional extraction process. Under the extracts from ultra high pressure process showed not only the strongest anticancer activities, but also had better stability than normal extracts. It was also found that the extracts of A. gigas reduced the hypertrophy of the internal organs, such as adrenal and spleen caused stresses in several mouse models.

        This study was performed to improve immune activities of Rubus coreanus Miquel by encapsulation of nanoparticles. Immuno-activities of R. coreanus were investigated through aqueous extracts associated with process of water at 60℃. It showed high promotion of human B and T cells growth about 50%, compared to the case of other conditions. The secretion of IL-6 and TNF-α was also enhanced as 2.44×10-4pg/cell and 1.94×10-4pg/cell, results by adding nano samples. NK cell activation was improved up to 29% higher than the conventional extraction process. The secretion of NO from macrophage showed 14.9 μm on the nano-encapsulation process extracts, which was higher than others. The size of nanoparticles was in the range of 50~300 nm, which can effect the penetration into the cells. It was clearly observed by real time confocal microscope.

        Hydrogen gas is used as a fuel for the proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC). Trace amount of carbon monoxide present in the reformate H₂ gas can poison the anode of the PEMFC. Therefore, preferential oxidation (PROX) of CO is essential for reducing the concentration of CO from a hydrogen-rich reformate gas. In this study, conventional Pt/Al₂O₃catalyst was prepared for the preferential oxidation of CO. The effects of catalyst preparation method, additive, and hydrogen on the performances of PROX reaction of CO were investigated. Water treatment and addition of Ce enhanced catalytic activity of the Pt/Al₂O₃ catalyst at low temperature below 100℃.
