Marine microalgal biotoxins can accumulate in seafoods, posing significant risk to human health. These toxins include tetrodotoxin (TTX) and can cause paralytic shellfish poisoning (PSP), diarrhetic shellfish poisoning (DSP), and amnesic shellfish poisoning (ASP). With accelerating climate change, the frequency and intensity of harmful algal blooms capable of producing biotoxins have increased. In South Korea, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) regulates traditional toxins, including TTX and toxins causing PSP, DSP, and ASP. In contrast, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) have established regulatory standards for a broader spectrum of marine biotoxins, including yessotoxins (YTXs), brevetoxins (BTXs), azaspiracids (AZAs), and ciguatoxins (CTXs), to ensure seafood safety. To effectively address this global concern, the MFDS launched an R&D project entitled "Establishment of the Safety Management System for Marine Biotoxins" (2020–2024). This project focused on enhancing analytical methods to detect unregulated toxins, assessing contamination levels, and developing rapid detection techniques. The project proposal emphasizes the need to establish a comprehensive monitoring system to mitigate future risks, particularly as climate change expands the range of toxic marine species. This project aims to advance our understanding of marine biotoxin contamination and strengthen seafood safety measures in South Korea by aligning them with international standards. This special issue compiles knowledge accumulated and technical advancements related to marine biotoxins, stemming from the outcomes of this project. It includes 12 papers describing analyses of various regulated and unregulated marine biotoxins, the current prevalence of seafood contamination, toxicity assessments, rapid analytical methods, and the state of safety management.
Occupational safety and health management expenses in the construction industry are statutory and separately included in the cost statement to prevent occupational accidents and health problems. The expenses are determined by multiplying the standard amount by the rate decided according to construction types and scales. However, the current expense appropriation method does not properly reflect the recent changes in the construction industry such as industry size, industry diversification, and social atmosphere about safety reinforcement. This study surveyed 1579 questionnaires in total and analyzed expense execution rate and proportion of each expense category. The expense execution rate was relative higher in complex construction (e.g., heavy construction = 126%, civil engineering = 125%) and long-period project (equal to or over 48 months construction = 133%) compared to general construction (98~116%) and short-period project (less than 48 months construction = 115%). The proportion of spending expenses was higher in the category of safety manager labor costs (25~52%), safety facility costs (22~40%), and personal protective equipment costs (10~25%). The analysis results of the study can be utilized in revising the standard expense appropriation method by reflecting the current usages of the occupational safety and health management expenses in the construction industry.
The purpose of this study is to investigated occupational accidents of child care worker. We surveyed 392 childcare worker to investigate their experience of occupational accidents. Fifteen percent of the respondents from occupational accdients survey for child care workers reported that they had experienced more than one occupational accident, but mostly did not claim Occupational Safety and Health Insurance. We suggested policy tasks to improve system for protecting child care workers.
본 연구는 선원들의 안전보건활동 실태조사를 통하여 선내 재해예방과 안전보건활동 대책에 필요한 기초 자료를 제공하기 위한 목적으로 최근 6개월 이내 승선경험이 있는 437명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 분석결과 선원들의 안전보건활동 수준은 평균 68.82점이었으며, 작업장 정리정돈이 76.08점으로 가장 높았고, 안전보건관리체계가 62.78점으로 가장 낮았다. 안전보건활동 수준 차이 검증결과 해상직원이 육상직원보다 높았고, 고학력자가 저학력자에 비해 높았다(p<0.01). 외항이 내항보다 높았으며, 특수화물선이 다른 선종보다 높았다(p<0.01). 선박의 크기는 대형선이 소형선에 비해 높았으며, 선령이 5년 미만 선박종사자에서 가장 높았다(p<0.01). 따라 서 선원의 안전보건활동 수준을 높이기 위해 개인 및 직무특성과 선박의 특성 차이를 고려한 다양한 안전보건교육프로그램의 개발, 선 내 안전보건활동의 활성화 등 선원들의 재해 예방을 위한 적극적인 선내 안전보건 활동 지원 대책이 필요하다.
This study is performed to analyze the actual conditions of safety monitoring teams operating at a construction sites with high industrial accidents to derive more efficient methods and operational effectiveness. A fundamental study to improve the problems of the safety monitor's existing management system to provide more reasonable solutions will help prevent safety accidents.
The aim of this study was to investigate status of safety accidents of school foodservice cooks in Daegu and to analyze the factors affecting the occurrence of the accidents in order to seek effective ways for preventing safety accidents in school foodservice. The survey showed that the most frequent safety accidents were ‘bruises’, followed by ‘burns’, ‘contact with harmful substances such as disinfectants’, ‘fall-off ’ and ‘sprains’. The mental fatigue perception of the respondents was generally lower than the physical fatigue perception. The means of the perception levels of work intensity, cooking environment of the foodservice place, and safety-related behaviors, and consciousness were 3.15, 2.99, and 4.06 out of 5 points, respectively. In addition, the annual average of the number of participating in the accident prevention training per person was 17.34 times, that is, the respondents received the training at least once a month on average. A multiple regression analysis was conducted to investigate the variables affecting the occurrence of safety accidents that happened to foodservice cooks. It revealed that the work intensity perception and the cooking environment perception influenced the frequency of safety accidents.
본 연구는 경기도에 유통되는 기능성 쌀을 대상으로 농약 및 이산화황의 잔류실태를 조사하고 위해성평가를 실시하였다. 2016년 2월부터 10월까지 대형마트 및 재래시 장에서 유통되는 기능성 쌀 91건을 수거하여 수행하였다. GC/ECD, GC/NPD, GC/TOF/MS, LC/PDA, LC/FLD를 이 용한 다종농약다성분 분석법으로 220종의 잔류농약검사를 실시한 결과 3건(3.3%)에서 2종의 농약성분이 검출되었다. 검출된 농약은 살균제 농약인 propiconazole과 살균제 및 식물생장조절제 농약인 isoprothiolane이며, 검출수준은 0.0340~0.0566 mg/kg으로 MRL (Maximum Residues Limits) 대비 각각 34%, 2.8% 이하로 검출되었다. Monier-Williams 변법을 이용하여 이산화황(sulfur dioxide)을 분석한 결과 91건의 시료 모두 불검출이었다. 농약 검출량을 바탕으로 일일섭취추정량(EDI)과 일일섭취허용량(ADI)을 이용하여 위해성평가를 한 결과 %ADI (Hazard Index)는 0.24~ 1.25%로 안전한 수준이었다.
The purpose of this study is to provide basic data to help ensure the safety and enhance industrial competitiveness of plant construction projects by analyzing the safety management status of, mainly, chemical engineering plant construction projects, and proposing specific measures and models to reduce human/educational, technical/systemic, institutional disasters. This study was done using literature research and case study/empirical study methods. The results of this study are summarized as follows. First, we classified the major disasters from the quarterly released ‘major diaster cases in construction business’from Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency according to the type of construction and presented the causes and prevention measures.
Full embroidery industrial accidents in recent years has shown a declining trend. But disaster embroidery of domestic construction industry were more than 20,000 deaths per year is about 500 people. The government has introduced a construction site often changing the recruitment of new construction based on health and safety as an alternative to road safety education training yisuje of construction workers, daily work periods short. Certificate of Basic OSH Training in Constructions had also been evaluated as successful by reducing the accident rate problem. It is conducted in private educational institutions has occurred on the friction between workers and employers and training costs are difficult to approach workers in the education standards for such facilities due to the superintendent. Educational institutions are institutions that have been caused by excessive competition lowered levels of education. There is also a lack of evaluation that the training is limited to the basic safety knowledge. These details are brought formal safety education purposes only and is introducing the results of other self jyeotgi difficult to reap the proceeds to good effect. In this study, we propose a plan for improving operational problems and enemy status based on research data presented after the Certificate of Basic OSH Training in Construction.
This study was performed to investigate the ingredients and subsidiary feed production policies, actual condition, and understanding. The survey was conducted by e-mail about 60 feed companies in Korea. The results of the analysis on the production status and perception of the ingredients and subsidiary feed production facilities were summarized as follows. First, the most urgent problem to be solved for the development of a sustainable feed industry and development and stable supply of domestic and international feed resources. Second, the quality of feeds maintained a considerable level in comparison with the developed countries. Third, the production equipment for the introduction of the feed safety management system was after set conditon of introduction. Therefore, to develop a sustainable feed industry, we should proceed to secure reliable sources about fodder resources. In order to maintain a food quality, the role of feed safety inspection for imported feeds materials are more important. The government's various efforts are more necessary for the imported feeds test agencies to improve the reliability, satisfaction and a feed management system.
Occupational Safety and Health Expenses Law in construction industry was enacted in 1988 by the notification of Ministry of Employment and Labor and 22 revisions have been made since. The fact that revisions have been made almost every year since the first enactment shows that Occupational Safety and Health Expenses can effectively prevent construction accidents and the need for revisions to fit the reality has been raised continuously. Despite the construction industry has undergone various internal and external environmental changes, (such as the changes in the safety and health management techniques and the increase in the construction employees’ desire for safety) the appropriation standard of Occupational Safety and Health Expenses has been calculated based on the contract price. The construction industry has constantly suggested that the Occupational Safety and Health Expenses be calculated based on the estimated construction expenses since applying the current method doesn’t provide enough money to secure the safety. Also because it has become mandatory to hire a health manager since 2015, the lack of Occupational Safety and Health Expenses is expected to get worse. In this study, we will analyze the usage of Occupational Safety and Health Expenses and propose a more practical and realistic change in setting the appropriation standard of Occupational Safety and Health Expenses.
본 연구는 식품접객업소 등에서 사용되는 94건의 물수건(위생처리업소 39건, 식품접객업소 55건)에 대하여 위생 지표세균, 중금속, 염소부산물 등에 대한 안전성을 조사하였다. 중금속 안전성 조사결과 납은 불검출 ~ 0.41 mg/kg(불검출 75건), 비소는 불검출 ~ 0.25 mg/kg(불검출 93건), 카드뮴은 불검출 ~ 0.01 mg/kg(정량한계 미만 7건, 불검출 87건), 수은은 0.003 mg/kg ~ 0.09 mg/kg, 6가크롬은 모든 시료에서 검출되지 않았다. 이 중 납의 검출량이 가장 많았으나, 가장 높은 검출량인 0.41 mg/kg조차 납 규격기준(20 mg/kg 이하)의 2.1%로 매우 낮은 수준이었다. 미생물 안전성의 경우 대장균은 모든 시료에서 음성이었으며, 일반 세균수는 43건 양성이고, 그 중 24건은 규격기준을 초과 하였다. 물수건의 포장상태는 세균의 오염 및 물수건 간의 교차오염에 큰 영향을 끼치는 것으로 확인할 수 있었다. 포장에 따른 미생물 오염 비교결과는 덕용포장이고 개봉포장일 때 세균의 오염이 가장 높았다. 수거 시 위생물 수건의 수분함량과 미생물의 상관관계를 확인해본 결과 유의성은 없었으며, 각 시료별 수분함량은 50.0% ~ 77.0%(평균 61.9%)이었다. 물수건 소독에 사용되는 염소화합물 로부터 유래되는 염소부산물(클로라이트, 클로레이트)은 88건 중 17건(19.3%)에서 검출되었다. 본 연구결과는 물수건의 제조업 및 식품접객업 종사자의 교육 및 안전관리 정책의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 생각된다.
