        Engineering design primarily focuses on product improvement through enhancing existing functionalities, integrating features, or adding new capabilities. In other words, it can be said that more design(adaptive design) changes to existing products based on benchmarking with competing products, differentiation strategies, changes in customer needs, etc. are actually performed rather than developing new products that did not exist before. Especially in the case of custom production, such as ships or buildings, a significant portion of actual design work involves modifying and adjusting past performance data according to the current customer's requirements. Therefore, design methods should be developed in a way that effectively supports these processes. Therefore, in this study, as QFD (Quality Function Deployment) ‘analysis of existing products’ and ‘creation of new alternatives’ is supported in Marine Concept Design with AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) techniques such as ‘Value Evaluation in Analysis Work’ and ‘Design Alternative Evaluation’, as a result, basic research was conducted on whether it could be used as a tool to effectively support the flow of the design process.

        As a safety device, a rupture disc are used to control pressure to minimize the explosion risk once the internal pressure of high pressure equipment exceeds a critical level. In this paper, optimization method was developed to secure optimal design of domed Rupture disks. The parameter analysis was performed through design of experiment to parameter of Rupture disk made of AISI 316.The Diameter, Thickness and Hight of Rupture disk were selected as design parameters for design parameter analysis. The results of parameter analysis revealed that the Diameter, thickness and hight were burst pressure-sensitive design parameters. Based on the valid performance factors, a regression equation to predict its performance was deducted and using the equation, an optimal design. And a sample model was fabricated, followed by burst pressure testing, after optimal design and analytical verification. In this research, it is verified that the optimal design method and the credibility of the analysis of this study is deemed very high. Furthermore, utilizing this mechanism would inspect the effect of the design parameter performance and increase the credibility and efficiency of a design.

        본 논문에서는 컨테이너선의 선형 최적 설계 자동화와 관련하여 연구한 내용과 결과를 정리하였다. 컨테이너선은 일반적으로 프루우드 수 0.26 근처에서 운항하는 선박으로 이 속도에서 운항하는 선박 전용 선형 최적 설계 자동화를 구현하기 위하여 최적화 알고리 즘, 선형 변경 알고리즘, 선박 성능 예측 알고리즘, 자동화 알고리즘 그리고 반복적 계산 기법을 적용하여 컨테이너선의 선형 최적 설계 자동화가 가능한 수치해석 컴퓨터 프로그램을 개발하였으며, HOTCONTAINER라고 명명하였다. 본 연구에서는 선형 최적 설계를 위한 설 계 변수의 적절한 선정을 위하여 민감도 분석 알고리즘을 개발하여 적용하였다. 개발된 선형 최적 설계 자동화 알고리즘의 신뢰성과 실 선 적용성을 파악하기 위하여 세계적으로 다양한 연구가 진행된 컨테이너 선박인 KCS 선박을 대상 선박으로 하여 선형 최적 설계 자동 화 수치해석을 수행하여 그 결과물로써 최적 선박을 도출하고, 대상 선박과 최적 선박의 조파저항과 파계 그리고 파고를 비교하였다. 결 론적으로 최적 선박이 대상 선박과 비교하여 조파저항이 47.63% 감소한 것을 볼 수 있었으며, 배수량과 접수 표면적은 각각 0.50%, 0.39% 감소한 것을 볼 수 있었다.

        Scanning probe microscopy (SPM) has become an indispensable tool in efforts to develop the next generation of nanoelectronic devices, given its achievable nanometer spatial resolution and highly versatile ability to measure a variety of properties. Recently a new scanning probe microscope was developed to overcome the tip degradation problem of the classic SPM. The main advantage of this new method, called Reverse tip sample (RTS) SPM, is that a single tip can be replaced by a chip containing hundreds to thousands of tips. Generally for use in RTS SPM, pyramid-shaped diamond tips are made by molding on a silicon substrate. Combining RTS SPM with Scanning spreading resistance microscopy (SSRM) using the diamond tip offers the potential to perform 3D profiling of semiconductor materials. However, damage frequently occurs to the completed tips because of the complex manufacturing process. In this work, we design, fabricate, and evaluate an RTS tip chip prototype to simplify the complex manufacturing process, prevent tip damage, and shorten manufacturing time.

        Engineering design involves making numerous decisions as the design process. These decisions can be broadly categorized into selection decisions and compromise decisions. The outcomes of these decisions heavily depend on the designer's intentions, highlighting the need to systematically and accurately incorporate the designer's intentions. The Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) is a design technique that systematically reflects the designer's intentions by hierarchically analyzing and evaluating ambiguous decision problems. Therefore, in this study, effective optimal structure designs that maximally reflect the designer's intentions were confirmed by introducing AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and Neural Network into the foundational decision-making process of engineering design.

        The ductility of the system based on the capacity of each structural member constituting the seismic force-resisting system is a significant factor determining the structure’s seismic performance. This study aims to provide a procedure to supplement the current seismic design criteria to secure the system’s ductility and improve the seismic performance of the steel ordinary moment frames. For the study, a nonlinear analysis was performed on the 9- and 15-story model buildings, and the formation of collapse mechanisms and damage distribution for dynamic loads were analyzed. As a result of analyzing the nonlinear response and damage distribution of the steel ordinary moment frame, local collapse due to the concentration of structural damage was observed in the case where the influence of the higher mode was dominant. In this study, a procedure to improve the seismic performance and avoid inferior dynamic response was proposed by limiting the strength ratio of the column. The proposed procedure effectively improved the seismic performance of steel ordinary moment frames by reducing the probability of local collapse.

        The nanostructured dysprosium oxide ( Dy2O3) was synthesized by the co-precipitation method and incorporated with graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) using the ultrasonication method. The resultant product is denoted as Dy2O3/ g-C3N4 nanocomposite which was further used for electrochemical sensing of riboflavin (RF). The physicochemical properties of Dy2O3/ g-C3N4 nanocomposite were examined using several characterization techniques. The obtained results exhibit the nanocomposite formation with the preferred elemental compositions, functional groups, crystalline phase and desired surface morphology. The electrocatalytic performance of Dy2O3/ g-C3N4 nanocomposite was scrutinized with a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) via differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) and cyclic voltammetry (CV) techniques with the conventional three-electrode system. The modified electrode distributes more active surface area suggesting high electrocatalytic activity for the RF detection with two linear ranges (0.001–40 μM and 40–150 μM), a low detection limit of 48 nM and sound sensitivity (2.5261 μA μM−1 cm− 2). Further, the designed sensor possesses high selectivity, excellent stability, repeatability and reproducibility. Finally, the fabricated sensor was successfully estimated for the detection of RF in actual food sample analysis using honey and milk with better recovery.

        This study was aimed at examining the characteristics of women’s blue denim on the basis of design elements to provide fundamental data for fashion majors and fashion designers. Seven design elements were selected from previous studies to compare them with the following characteristics of blue denim: color (washing, dyeing), ornamentation (trimming, detailing, painting, and printing), and form modification, tearing, and ripping). Data from 1,520 photographs of the 2019 S/S to the 2023–24 F/W collections were collected through overlapping checks. The data were then subjected to frequency analysis using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (version 26). The results are as follows: The most frequent design method used in producing the denim items in our sample was washing, followed by modification, tearing, and ripping and detailing. The greatest change in denim design occurred in 2023, and more design element changes were observed in the F/W season than in the S/S season. Washing was used four times or more frequently than dyeing, while detailing was employed approximately 2 times more often than trimming. With respect to form, the most common approach was modification, followed by tearing and ripping.

        This study aims to merge Picasso’s expressive elements and deconstructive fashion’s formative traits, proposing an upcycle fashion design that fuses artistic and philosophical aspects. The analysis of Picasso’s Cubism identified qualities like liberating revolution, fluidity of vision, geometric reducibility, complex symbolism, and creative imitation. The analysis of Derrida’s deconstructionism revealed expressive traits: uncertainty, intertextuality, différance, and dis-de phenomenon. An upscale fashion design was developed based on six Picasso works featuring women. The design was created using the fashion design software CLO 3D and integrated clothing waste and scrap fabrics as materials.The results are as follows. First, upcycle fashion was viewed from a new perspective based on Picasso and Derrida’s values. This perspective suggested creating better ethical values by upholding environmental protection in novel ways that overcome limitations rather than destroy existing values indiscriminately. Second, upcycle fashion design methodologies were derived from various perspectives utilizing formative features of Picasso’s works and specific expressive features of deconstructed fashion. Third, the direction of mitigating waste and pollution from clothing production and transportation was revealed by making clothes in a virtual space using the CLO 3D program. This study contributed to obtaining various methods for developing upcycle fashion designs using own methods of Picasso and Derrida to diversify the approaches of upcycling, which is relatively stagnant in disassembling.

        The aim of this study is to ensure the structural integrity of a canister to be used in a dry storage system currently being developed in Korea. Based on burnup and cooling periods, the canister is designed with 24 bundles of spent nuclear fuel stored inside it. It is a cylindrical structure with a height of 4,890 mm, an internal diameter of 1,708 mm, and an inner length of 4,590 mm. The canister lid is fixed with multiple seals and welds to maintain its confinement boundary to prevent the leakage of radioactive waste. The canister is evaluated under different loads that may be generated under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, and combinations of these loads are compared against the allowable stress thresholds to assess its structural integrity in accordance with NUREG-2215. The evaluation result shows that the stress intensities applied on the canister under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions are below the allowable stress thresholds, thus confirming its structural integrity.

        A transfer cask serves as the container for transporting and handling canisters loaded with spent nuclear fuels from light water reactors. This study focuses on a cylindrical transfer cask, standing at 5,300 mm with an external diameter of 2,170 mm, featuring impact limiters on the top and bottom sides. The base of the cask body has an openable/closable lid for loading canisters with storage modules. The transfer cask houses a canister containing spent nuclear fuels from lightweight reactors, serving as the confinement boundary while the cask itself lacks the confinement structure. The objective of this study was to conduct a structural analysis evaluation of the transfer cask, currently under development in Korea, ensuring its safety. This evaluation encompasses analyses of loads under normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, adhering to NUREG-2215. Structural integrity was assessed by comparing combined results for each load against stress limits. The results confirm that the transfer cask meets stress limits across normal, off-normal, and accident conditions, establishing its structural safety.

        This study addresses the optimal design methodology for switching between active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar operating modes to easily select the necessary information to reduce pilots' cognitive load and physical workload in situations where diverse and complex information is continuously provided. This study presents a procedure for defining a hidden Markov chain model (HMM) for modeling operating mode changes based on time series data on the operating modes of the AESA radar used by pilots while performing mission scenarios with inherent uncertainty. Furthermore, based on a transition probability matrix (TPM) of the HMM, this study presents a mathematical programming model for proposing the optimal structural design of AESA radar operating modes considering the manipulation method of a hands on throttle-and-stick (HOTAS). Fighter pilots select and activate the menu key for an AESA radar operation mode by manipulating the HOTAS’s rotary and toggle controllers. Therefore, this study presents an optimization problem to propose the optimal structural design of the menu keys so that the pilot can easily change the menu keys to suit the operational environment.         다중 에이전트 강화학습의 발전과 함께 게임 분야에서 강화학습을 레벨 디자인에 적용하려는 연구가 계속되 고 있다. 플랫폼의 형태가 레벨 디자인의 중요한 요소임에도 불구하고 지금까지의 연구들은 플레이어의 스킬 수준이나, 스킬 구성 등 플레이어의 매트릭에 초첨을 맞춰 강화학습을 활용하였다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 레 벨 디자인에 플랫폼의 형태가 사용될 수 있도록 시각 센서의 가시성과 구조물의 복잡성을 고려하여 플랫폼 이 플레이 경험에 미치는 영향을 연구한다. 이를 위해Unity ML-Agents Toolkit과MA-POCA 알고리즘, Self-play 방식을 기반으로2vs2 대전 슈팅 게임 환경을 개발하였으며 다양한 플랫폼의 형태를 구성하였다. 분석을 통해 플랫폼의 형태에 따른 가시성과 복잡성의 차이가 승률 밸런스에는 크게 영향을 미치지 않으나 전체 에피소 드 수, 무승부 비율, Elo의 증가폭에 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것을 확인했다.

        Taguchi method is one of the most popular approaches for design optimization such that performance characteristics become robust to uncontrollable noise variables. However, most previous Taguchi method applications have addressed a single-characteristic problem. Problems with multiple characteristics are more common in practice. The multi-criteria decision making(MCDM) problem is to select the optimal one among multiple alternatives by integrating a number of criteria that may conflict with each other. Representative MCDM methods include TOPSIS(Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution), GRA(Grey Relational Analysis), PCA(Principal Component Analysis), fuzzy logic system, and so on. Therefore, numerous approaches have been conducted to deal with the multi-characteristic design problem by combining original Taguchi method and MCDM methods. In the MCDM problem, multiple criteria generally have different measurement units, which means that there may be a large difference in the physical value of the criteria and ultimately makes it difficult to integrate the measurements for the criteria. Therefore, the normalization technique is usually utilized to convert different units of criteria into one identical unit. There are four normalization techniques commonly used in MCDM problems, including vector normalization, linear scale transformation( max-min, max, or sum). However, the normalization techniques have several shortcomings and do not adequately incorporate the practical matters. For example, if certain alternative has maximum value of data for certain criterion, this alternative is considered as the solution in original process. However, if the maximum value of data does not satisfy the required degree of fulfillment of designer or customer, the alternative may not be considered as the solution. To solve this problem, this paper employs the desirability function that has been proposed in our previous research. The desirability function uses upper limit and lower limit in normalization process. The threshold points for establishing upper or lower limits let us know what degree of fulfillment of designer or customer is. This paper proposes a new design optimization technique for multi-characteristic design problem by integrating the Taguchi method and our desirability functions. Finally, the proposed technique is able to obtain the optimal solution that is robust to multi-characteristic performances.

        이 연구는 생성형 AI(Generative AI) 기술을 활용하여 기본 시각디자인 분야에서의 새로운 접근 방법과 가능 성을 탐색한다. Generative AI는 데이터 기반 학습을 통해 창의적인 디자인을 생성하는 인공지능 기술로, 시 각디자인에서 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 본 연구는 Generative AI가 시각디자인의 기본 요소와 원리에 어떻게 적용되며, 디자인 프로세스를 어떻게 혁신할 수 있는지를 분석한다. 먼저, Generative AI가 색채, 형태, 구성과 같은 디자인의 기본 요소를 어떻게 해석하고 재창조하는지에 대해 연구한다. 이를 통해 AI가 디자인의 창의 성과 예술성을 어떻게 향상시킬 수 있는지를 탐구한다. 또한, AI가 디자인 결정 과정에서 어떻게 인간 디자 이너를 보조할 수 있는지에 대해서도 연구한다. 이 연구는 Generative AI를 실험하고, 이를 통해 얻은 시각디 자인 결과를 통해, AI가 시각디자인의 전통적인 접근 방식에 어떤 새로운 시각과 해석을 제공하는지를 조사 한다. AI 기술의 발전이 디자인의 미래와 디자이너의 역할에 어떤 변화를 가져올지에 대한 통찰과 디자인 분 야의 전문가뿐만 아니라, AI 기술에 관심 있는 학자들에게도 중요한 시사점을 제공한다는 점에서 의의를 찾 을 수 있다.

        본 연구는 테이블 탑 보드게임 개발 방법론인 CDR 모델을 제안하여 보드게임 개발과정에서의 어려움을 일 부 해소하고 나아가 디자이너가 개발 경험을 지속할 수 있는 토대를 마련하는 것이 목적이다. 이를 위해 보 드게임 개발 방법론인 CDR 모델을 설계하고 보드게임 개발 경험이 있는 전문가 패널 15명을 대상으로 인터 뷰를 진행하였다. 연구 결과 CDR 모델이 기존의 개발 방법론보다 체계적인 개발이 가능하도록 설계되어 개 발 시 단계별 작업 내용을 확인하고, 오류를 줄이면서 누락내용 없이 개발이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 본 연 구에 의한 CDR 모델을 통해 보드게임을 만들고자 하는 디자이너는 보드게임을 디자인하는 데 있어서 가장 중요한 게임요소와 그것을 어떻게 부각할지에 대한 고민을 해결하고 개발을 지속할 수 있는 토대를 마련하 는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

        본 논문에서는 몬스터에게 붙잡히지 않고 키를 찾아서 연구소를 탈출하는 공포 방탈출 게임을 제안한다. 제 안하는 게임을 진행한30명의 게임 플레이 로그 데이터 분석 결과와 설문조사 결과를 바탕으로, 제안하는 게 임의 특징을 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 제안하는 게임은 다양한 아이템, 액션, 탈출 경로를 제공한다. 제안하는 게임이 숨을 곳도 많고 다양한 상호작용을 제공한다고 설문에서4점 이상 주었다. 또한, map의 footprint를 분석한 결과, 플레이어는 다양한 경로를 통해 키를 찾아서 탈출하였다. 둘째, 제안하는 게임은 외 관으로 기능을 추론할 수 있는 직관적인 오브젝트를 제공한다. 따라서, 플레이어는 시각적 공간 및 게임 아 이템 용도를 쉽게 파악하여 조작할 수 있다. 설문조사 결과에서, 플레이어는 조작감 관련 항목의 점수를4점 이상을 주었다. 셋째, 제안하는 게임에서 플레이어는 아이템이 충분할 때보다는 부족할 때 더 몰입을 잘 한 다. 게임 플레이 로그 데이터 분석 결과와 설문조사 결과에 따르면, 플레이어는 아이템이 부족할 때 더 크게 공포를 느끼고 상황에 몰입하여, 더 적극적으로 행동하게 되고 더 민감하게 반응한다.

        This study investigates the enhancement of surface precision and dimensional accuracy in STS 316L oval pipes through the application of magnetic abrasive finishing. The experiment involves the modification magnetic pole shapes(A, B, C, D) and a comprehensive analysis of their impact on surface quality. Key parameters include magnetic abrasive KX#320, iron powder, aluminum oxide, light oil, a test specimen rotating at 600rpm, and periodic injection of polishing liquid, a permanent magnet Nd-Fe-B, and magnetic pole steel 1018, reciprocating distance 20mm, and a feed rate 1mm/sec over a 32minutes duration with measurements every 4minutes. The results demonstrate significant variations in surface quality based on magnetic pole shape, with specific configurations demonstrating superior precision and smoothness from the initial surface 0.32μm to 0.06μm.

        This study chiefly aims to clarify important items to establish design guidelines for the habitability of temporary housing. Though prevention of occurring disasters would be the best way, readiness for the protection of suffering psychological damage is essential to construct emergency shelters and temporary housing. Temporary housings until now have raised second psychological injury, due to the lack of community spaces between victims by the disasters. It is meaningful to make fundamental data for establishing design guidelines for the habitability of temporary housing through the advanced countries for the disaster protection.

        OWEC(Overtopping Wave Energy Converter)는 월파된 파도를 이용한 파력발전시스템이라한다. OWEC의 성능 및 안전성은 파고, 주기 등 파도의 특성에 의해 영향을 받는다. 따라서 해역 특성에 따른 OWEC의 최적 형상과 구조안전성에 관한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구 에서는 울릉읍 연안 해양 환경 데이터를 이용하였으며, SPH(Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics) 입자법 해석을 통해 기존 케이슨 하부 구조에 변화를 준 모델 4개를 비교하여 월파 효율을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 하부 구조의 변경 및 경량화가 가능함을 확인하였다. 최적화 해석을 통 해 설계 하중에 내하력을 가지는 하부 구조인 새로운 트러스형 구조를 제안하였다. 이후 부재 직경 및 두께를 설계변수로 하는 사례 연구 를 통해 허용응력조건 하에서 구조 안전성의 확보를 확인하였다. 주기적인 파랑 하중을 받기 때문에 제안하는 구조의 고유 진동수와 해 당 해역의 파주기를 비교하였으며, 1년 재현 주기의 파랑을 하중으로 한 조화응답해석을 수행하였다. 제안하는 하부 구조는 동일 가진력 에서 기존 설계 대비 응답의 크기가 감소하였으며, 기존 대비 32% 이상의 중량 절감을 수행하였다.
