        This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of phosphorus acid (H3PO3) addition to the horticultural bed soil on the initial growth of red pepper (Capsicum annuum L. cv.), cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. cv.), and kimchi cabbage (Brassica campestris L. ssp. pekinensis (Lour.) Rupr. cv.). The stem heights of red pepper and cucumber were 46.1% and 23.0% greater in the 50 mg/L of phosphorus acid treatment than the untreated (control). Further, the stem diameter of pepper and cucumber were 48.7% and 23.0% greater in the 50 mg/L of phosphorus acid treatment than the control. In addition, the number of kimchi cabbage leaves was 47.5% greater in the 50 mg/L of phosphorus acid treatment than the control. The dry weights of red pepper, cucumber and kimchi cabbage were 72.9%, 16.5%, and 30.4% heavier in the 50 mg/L than the control, respectively. Cations (K, Ca, and Mg) and total phosphorus (T - P) were quantitatively analyzed for these three horticultural crops. The concentrations of K, Ca, and Mg, and T - P were higher in the 50 mg/L of phosphorus acid than the control, respectively. Based on the results obtained in this study, it appears that treatment of phosphorus acid in horticultural bed soil enhanced the growth of red pepper, cucumber and Kimchi cabbage.

        The purpose of this study was to evaluate the mixed treatment of compost tea and amino acid liquid fertilizer as a substitute of oil cake for the organic cultivation of maize in Goesan, Chungbuk province. As a result, nitrogen, phosphoric acid, potassium, calcium and magnesium contents of each organic fertilizer were in the order of oil cake > amino acid fertilizer > compost tea. Each of these organic fertilizers had little influence on the change of soil chemical. Individual treatment of amino acid fertilizer and oil cake for weight of an ear as well as all individual treatments for the fresh weight of 100 kernels showed significant increase, compared to the untreated control. For the corn yield of merchantable quality, each treatment of compost tea, amino acid liquid fertilizer and oil cake increased higher 3.9, 5.4 and 5.9% than untreated control, respectively. On the other hand, as a result of mixed treatment of amino acid fertilizer and compost tea, the change of soil chemical property was insignificant. The mixed treatment, Nonetheless, showed significant increase for stem height to 1st ear, grain setting length in an ear, weight of an ear, and fresh weight of 100 kernels, compared to the oil cake as a control. After all, the corn yield of merchantable quality produced by the mixed treatment was 3.9% higher than the control. Therefore, our study would be considered that the mixed treatment of amino acid and compost tea is one of organic materials that can replace oil-cake in maize.

        Background: To obtain useful cosmetic resources, this study aimed to determine the non-saponin fatty acid and inhibitory activities of collagenase and elastase by treatment of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in supercritical fluid extracted oil of the adventitious root culture of wild mountain ginseng. Methods and Results: We performed supercritical fluid extraction at various conditions such as pressure, temperature, time, and use of co-solvents, unlike the n-hexane extraction for the adventitious roots culture of wild mountain ginseng. The non-saponin-fatty acid obtained from the oil of the adventitious roots culture was incresed by treatment with S. cerevisiae. The supercritical fluid extraction was conducted using gas chromatography. Non-saponin-fatty acid content, in the oil of adventitious roots culture of wild mountain ginseng treated with S. cerevisiae for 2 days were three times higher than that in the control. In addition, the oil of the adventitious roots culture treated with S. cerevisiae was investigated for the anti-wrinkle effect by using collagenase and elastase. The oil of adventitious roots culture treated with S. cerevisiae exhibited higher collagenase and elastase inhibitory activities than those in the control. Conclusions: Supercritical fluid extracted oil of the adventitious roots culture of wild mountain ginseng treated with S. cerevisiae was found to have decreased ratio of saturated fatty acids and incresed ratio and content of unsaturated fatty acids increased. Furthermore, it showed anti-wrinkle effects in vitro.

        This study was conducted to investigate the removal characteristics of heavy metals and sulfate ion from acid mine drainage by porous zeolite-slag ceramics (ZS ceramics) that was prepared by adding wood flour as pore-foaming agent while calcining the mixtures of natural zeolite and converter slag. The batch test showed that the removal efficiency of heavy metals by pellet-type porous ZS ceramics increased as the particle size of wood flour was decreased and as the weight mixing ratio of wood flour to ZS ceramics was increased. The optimal particle size and weight mixing ratio of wood flour were measured to be 75 ㎛ and 7∼10%, respectively. The removal test with the porous ZS ceramics prepared in these optimal condition showed very high removal efficiencies: more than 98.4% for all heavy metals and 73.9% for sulfate ion. Relative to nonporous ZS ceramics, the increment of removal efficiency of heavy metals by porous ZS ceramics with 75 ㎛ and 10% wood flour was 5.8%, 60.5%, 36.9%, 87.7%, 10.3%, and 57.4% for Al, Cd, Cu, Mn, Pb, and Zn, respectively. The mechanism analysis of removal by the porous ZS ceramics suggested that the heavy metals and sulfate ion from acid mine drainage are eliminated by multiple reactions such as adsorption and/or ion exchange as well as precipitation and/or co-precipitation.

        A continuous process of persulfate oxidation and citric acid washing was investigated for ex-situ remediation of complex contaminated soil containing total recoverable petroleum hydrocarbons (TRPHs) and heavy metals (Cu, Pb, and Zn). The batch experiment results showed that TRPHs could be degraded by Fe2+ activated persulfate oxidation and that heavy metals could be removed by washing with citric acid. For efficient remediation of the complex contaminated soil, two-stage and three-stage processes were evaluated. Removal efficiency of the two-stage process (persulfate oxidation - citric acid washing) was 83% for TRPHs and 49%, 53%, 24% for Cu, Zn, and Pb, respectively. To improve the removal efficiency, a three-stage process was also tested; case A) water washing - persulfate oxidation - citirc acid washing and case B) persulfate oxidation - citric acid washing (1) - citric acid washing (2). In case A, 63% of TRPHs, 73% of Cu, 60% of Zn, and 55% of Pb were removed, while the removal efficiencies of TRPHs, Cu, Pb, and Zn were 24%, 68%, 62%, and 59% in case B, respectively. The results indicated that case A was better than case B. The three-stage process was more effective than the two-stage process for the remediation of complex-contaminated soil in therms of overall removal efficiency.

        Aeration with low energy micro-bubble generation and UV/H2O2 processes was introduced to verify the possibility of oxidation treatment for acid mine drainage. During 10 hours of aeration with micro-bubbles, Fe and As concentrations were decreased to 18.1 and 61.8%, respectively, while Cu, Cd, Al were kept at influent concentrations. Other heavy metals such as Mn, Cr, Pb, Zn, and Ni concentrations fluctuated due to the repetition of oxidation and release. Twenty days of aeration indicated the oxidation possibility for Cu, Cd, and Al. With the employment of UV/H2O2 processes, more than 77% of Cu and Fe removed, whereas slightly more than 30% of Cd and Al removed.

        Even though removal of fluoride in HF wastewater by crystallization using a fluidized bed reactor (FBR) has been widely studied as an efficient alternative to the chemical precipitation method using traditional stirred tank reactor, serious problems have been encountered for the optimum design of FBR together with the determination of proper operating conditions. One problem is the proper formation of the fluidization state of the seed as a function of seed particle characteristics such as particle size and density. Because dynamics in the reactor are governed by forces such as gravity, drag, and buoyancy as a function of particle size, particle density, relative velocity together with flow characteristics, this study carefully examines the effects of these factors on the formation of fluidization via theoretical analysis and numerical calculation in fluidized bed reactors in the range of practical design and operation condition. The results of this study show the overall trend of the motion of particle behavior in terms of particle size and flow condition.

        Li을 포함하는 삼팔면체 스멕타이트 계열의 헥토라이트가 터키 서부 퇴적 기원의 붕소광상에서 다량 존재하는 것이 확인되었으며, Li을 포함하는 헥토라이트는 리튬 자원으로서의 개발 가능성이 높 기 때문에 많은 관심의 대상이 되고 있다. 헥토라이트의 열적 변화와 산에 대한 특성은 산업적인 적용 을 위해서 매우 중요한 성질임에도 불구하고 아직 완전하게 이해된 것이 없다. 이번 연구에서는 터키 붕소광상 중 Li2O 함량이 가장 높은 비가디치 광상에서 채취된 점토광석을 이용하였다. 채취한 점토 광석 내에 존재하는 헥토라이트를 Stoke’s Law를 이용하여 분리한 후 열 및 산 처리 실험을 실시하여 특성 변화를 검토하였다. 헥토라이트는 84℃ 부근에서 흡착수 및 층간수의 탈수에 의한 강한 흡열반 응이 일어나며, 600℃ 이후 결정수의 탈수에 의한 흡열반응이 일어난다. 저온의 흡열반응은 약 6%의 많은 중량 감소를 동반한다. 762℃ 부근에서 헥토라이트가 완화휘석, 크리스토발라이트 및 비정질 산 화철 광물로 분해되는 발열반응이 일어난다. 0.1 M 농도의 무기산으로 1시간 헥토라이트를 반응시킨 결과 황산 ≥ 염산 > 질산 순으로 용해 정도가 높았다.

        Background : The purpose of the present investigation is to enhance extracellular acidic protease production by subjecting a protease producing strain Cordyceps pruinosa DK-01 to random mutagenesis by UV irradiation after ethidium bromide treatment. Methods and Results : Mutants were screened as protease producers on the basis of zone of clearance and relative proteolytic activity (RPA) on skimmed milk agar plates. In addition, mutants showed strong pink-red color intensity and different RAPD profiling compared with wild type control. Four mutants were randomly selected and their extracellular enzyme activities were investigated. In liquid culture without casein, 2.2-, 2.9-, 5.2- and 4.4-fold higher acid protease activity was achieved from mutants DK-m9, -m11 and -m12, respectively, than that of wild type strain (11.13 ± 1.60 U/ml). In liquid culture with casein, 1.1-, 1.3-, 1.3 and 1.3-fold higher acid protease activity was achieved with those mutants were found to produce, respectively, than that of wild type strain (93.95 ± 12.84 U/ml). Maximum acid protease activity was noticed from a mutant DK-m11 in liquid culture with casein (121.18 U/ml) and without casein (57.65 U/ml). The extracellular acid protease produced from DJ-m11 that was active in the pH range 4.5-6.5 and optimum temperature for the activity was 37°C. Furthermore, we found a deformed, shorten structure of setae on the elytron surface of dynastid beetles treated with culture supernatant of the DK-m11. Conclusion : These findings have more impact on enzyme economy for biotechnological and insecticidal applications of fungal proteases.

        There is about 80% organic acid in the Food wastes leachate and organic acid can be used as organic carbon source for mixotrophic microalgae. The mixotrophic cultivation is that the combination of autotrophic and heterotrophic cultivation, where inorganic and organic carbon sources are used in their methabolism simultaneously. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of various organic acid on the microalgae when Food wastes leachate treatment. Chlorella vulgaris was used in this study, also NaHCO3 is supplied at all conditions as inorganic carbon source. In order to see the effect of organic carbon sources centrally, the carbon source conditions was set in 5 conditions - glucose known to have excellent effectiveness to increase of biomass productivity 1500 mg-COD/L, acetate 1500 mg-COD/L, isobutyrate 1500 mg-COD/L, propionate 1500mg-COD/L and the mixed organic acid (acetate, isobutyrate, propionate each 500 mg-COD/L). This study evaluated final biomass production, consumption of organic carbon, and N,P removal. In the result, the final biomass productivity by using glucose, acetate and isobutyrate is the highest level, followed by mixed organic acid and propionate. This is same aspect in N,P removal; the more rapid growth rate is, the more rapid N,P removal rate is. In the view of consumption of organic carbon, acetate make best use among organic acid.

        거대쌀눈의 특성과 검정쌀 그리고 찹쌀의 특성을 보유한 눈큰흑찰의 침종과 발아 그리고 기질로 글루탐산을 처리하 였을 경우의 가바를 포함한 주요 성분의 분석 결과는 다음 과 같다. 1. 싹 발아 길이를 기준으로 눈큰흑찰의 가바 함량은 싹 길이가 5~10 mm인 stage-3에 93.9 mg/100 g으로 최 고를 보였고, 대량 제조 조건에서는 최고 126.9 mg의 가바를 함유하고 있음을 확인하였다. 2. 침종에 의한 성분 분석에서는 72시간 침종에서 폴리 페놀, 플라보노이드, 아미노산 그리고 가바 함량이 가 장 많이 축적됨을 확인하였다. 3. 글루탐산 탈탄산효소의 작용에 의한 가바 함량 증가는 현미와 쌀겨 모두에서 급격한 증가가 관찰되었고, 눈 큰흑찰 현미와 쌀겨의 경우 가바 함량이 각각 354.6 mg/100 g과 726.4 mg으로 현미와 쌀겨에 비해 각각 14배와 3배 함량이 증가하였다. 따라서 본 연구에서 눈큰흑찰의 발아와 침종에 따른 품질 특성을 분석한 결과, 뇌의 대사전달 물질의 조정 작용과 고 혈압 그리고 스트레스 조정 기능이 있는 가바의 함량이 침 종과 발아에 의해 일반 쌀에 비해 급격히 증가함을 확인하 였다. 특히나 글루탐산탈탄산 효소의 작용에 의한 눈큰흑찰 의 현미와 쌀겨의 가바 생성은 현재까지 보고된 그 어떤 쌀 품종에서 분석된 가바 함량보다도 가장 우수함을 확인할 수 있어 향후 기능성 발아현미 가공을 위한 원료로 활용이 가 능하며, 침종 조건은 가바 함량이 증진된 밥의 제조에 활용 이 가능하고, 일본에서 시판되는 가바 건강식품의 용량과 맞먹는 함량을 지닌 눈큰흑찰을 이용한 가바쌀 생산과 가바 의 효능에 의한 혈압강하, 체중조절, 알코올 관련 질환 등에 효능이 있는 건강기능성 식품 원료로 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

        This study was performed to identify optimal harvesting time of ginseng seeds and to examine the effect of GA3 treatment for improvement of seed stratification rate. Ginseng seeds harvested from Land race, Chunpoong and Yunpoong cultivar in July 20 were tested for stratification rate. It was shown that stratification rates of land race, Yunpoong and Chunpoong cultivar were 94.1%, 93.1%, and 82.6%, respectively. Seeds of Chunpoong cultivar harvested 10-15 days later showed a comparable stratification rate to that of Land race, indicating that late harvest of Chunpoong seeds is beneficial for the increase of stratification rate. The higher stratification rate was found in mature seeds (92.3%) than immature seeds (37.8%), both of which were harvested in July 20. Stratification rate of mature seeds harvested in July 15 was 87.5%, demonstrating optimal harvesting time of ginseng seeds with higher stratification rate is after mid-July. An exponential growth of endosperms of ginseng seeds was observed from early June to mid-June and then slow growth was observed. There was no obvious growth of embryos from fertilization to mid-August. After the this time, embryos quickly grew until late October. Thus, appropriate stratification control is essential during the period (from early September to late October) in order to optimize embryo growth and development. While no increase of stratification rate was observed in seeds treated with 50 ppm of GA3, significant increases were observed in seeds treated with 100 ppm of GA3. At this concentration of GA3, the stratification rate of Land race, Chunpoong and Yunpoong cultivar was 95.0%, 95.3%, and 96.5%, respectively.

        A comprehensive fractionation technique was applied to a set of water samples obtained along drinking water treatment process with ozonation and biological activated carbon (BAC) process to obtain detailed profiles of dissolved organic matter (DOM) and to evaluate the haloacetic acid (HAA) formation potentials of these DOM fractions. The results indicated that coagulation-sedimentation-sand filtration treatment showed limited ability to remove hydrophilic fraction (28%), while removal of hydrophobic and transphilic fraction were 57% and 40%, respectively. And ozonation and BAC treatment showed limited ability to remove hydrophobic fractions (6%), while removal of hydrophilic and transphilic fractions were 25% and 18%. The haloacetic acid formation potential (HAAFP)/dissolved organic carbon (DOC) of hydrophilic fraction was the highest along the treatment train and HAAFP/DOC of hydrophilic fraction was higher than hydrophobic and transphilic fraction as 23% 30%, because of better removal for hydrophobic fraction both in concentration and reactivity.

        수확 후 돌나물의 미생물학적 안전성 확보를 위해 1% acetic acid 침지 세척과 10 kJ/m2 UV-C 조사를 병합처리하여 10°C에서 6일간 저장하면서 미생물 수, 색도, 비타민 C 함량, 항산화능을 측정하였다. 돌나물에 병합처리 후 총 호기성 세균 수는 대조구와 비교하여 3.28 log CFU/g, 효모 및 곰팡이에서는 4.22 log CFU/g 감균 효과를 보였으며, 이러한 효과는 저장 6일 동안 유지되었다. Acetic acid와 UV-C 병합처리는 대조구와 비교하여 돌나물의 저장 중 Hunter 색도 값에 부정적인 영향을 끼치지 않았다. 또한 비타민 C 함량과 항산화능은 저장기간 동안 처리구와 대조구 모두 감소하였으나, 처리에 의한 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구 결과 acetic acid와 UV-C 병합처리가 수확 후 돌나물의 저장, 유통 시 미생물학적 안전성을 확보하고 품질 유지에 효과적인 hurdle technology라고 판단된다.

        일월탄광에는 산화조, SAPS, 소택지의 3단계 자연정화시설이 설치되어 있으며 갱내수를 모아 정화한 후 주변 하천으로 유출시키고 있다. 일월탄광 갱내수의 pH 값은 계절에 관계없이 2.28-2.42로 낮은값을 나타내지만 산화조를 거치는 동안 pH 값은 6.17-6.53 급격하게 증가한다. 정화시설에 의한 정화효율은 SO4, Mg, Al, Ca, Mn은 각각 약 50%, 40%, 100%, 24%, 59%이다. 갱내수의 Fe는 아주 낮은값(1.06-1.09 ㎎/ℓ)이지만 정화시설을 거치는 동안 100%의 제거효율을 나타낸다. 이와 같이 일월탄광에 설치한 정화시설은 pH 상승과 Fe와 Al의 제거 효율은 높지만 SO4, Mg, Ca, Mn 등은 60% 이하로 상대적으로 낮다. 따라서 이러한 이온을 제거하기 위해서는 다른 정화기술을 적용해야 할 것으로 판단된다. pH 2.28-2.42 범위인 갱내수가 유입되는 정화시설 바닥에 침전되는 침전물은 슈워트마나이트이며(Fe8O8(OH)6SO4), pH 5.83-5.96인 침출수에서는 2-line 페리하이드라이트(2-line Fe2O3⋅0.5H2O)가 침전된다.
