According to Johan Huizinga (1949), as a Homo Ludens, man developed play (game) element in our culture during evolution. Roger Caillois (1961) categorized play into four groups: Agon (competition), Alea (probability), Mimicry(roleplaying), and Ilinx (altered perception). Current video/computer games are comprised of one or more of them combined. As these sociologists of game assert, game is one of the most basic and fundamental elements of our culture. However, some gamers become highly immersed in playing games, even to the degree of addiction. In 2013, National Assembly of Korea proposed a bill that would help alcoholics, drug addicts, gambling addicts and video game addicts. This caused huge social debates among experts and lay people. While some experts say that gaming addiction is not a truly existing phenomenon, some people say that we need law to regulate gaming in order to help prevent the addicts. These issues have become a problem of technological governance. This article analyzes 80 researches or so that may help us to learn about the problems and answers of the internet addiction, gaming addiction, and internet game (online game) addiction, or computer games for the youth in general. In order to maintain a well performed technological governance, first we need to know the characteristics of the issue. The author hopes that this article may be a ground study to start the scholastic discussion about the gaming governance in Korea.
In this paper, we present a serious game that can prevent elderly people from brain illness using natural finger interaction and Fumanet exercise. As population of elderly people has continually grown in our society, brain illness like dementia can be naturally observed, which makes treatment cost up rapidly. Hence, we propose Leap-Motion based serious game for elderly people, which uses natural finger motions to interact with game contents. In our approach, we enhance finger motion recognition rate by adding auxiliary conditions that is superior to ordinary Leap-Motion APIs. Finally, we have also carried out user study and quantitative analysis to verify our methods.
The current study examined whether and how players’ aggression is affected by playing games focused on Intrapersonal level of player. In contrast to most existing studies, our study asks about crucial underlying factors among the general game population and thereby investigates mental health belief, interdependent and independent self-construal, game-efficacy, loneliness, depression, gender and age. Results show that mental health belief is particularly important to the players because their aggressive tendencies are greatly diminished. Independent self-construal and game efficacy reduced the levels of players’ aggression. Interestingly, both depression and loneliness decreased the levels of players’ aggression. This paper introduces good game design elements to consider for educational game. A suggested theory is applied on case study of educational history game development which was conducted by collaboration of game and education research experts. In the beginning of study, we seek for good game elements from the nature of play. We define and reorganize indigenous characteristic of play into two categories, Ludus and Paidia. Ludus is more oriented toward complex rule base game, and Paidia goes toward play attributes. We design and develop educational game based on suggested core design elements. At last, we observe how suggested good game design elements influences our educational game, addressing how to apply our design theory to the educational game development process.
In recent, modern people has been suffering from their hair loss. According to the definition, hair loss refers to the status in which hairs on certain regions are lost, due to multiple causes albeit they are supposed to be present under normal conditions. Compared to the normal hair growth cycle, numbers of hair loss outnumber the newly growing hairs and there is excessive amount of hairs in the resting phase, thereby resulting the reduction of total numbers of hairs. In the present study therefore, we designed and developed the scalp management system to pursue more efficient management of hair loss. In the suggested system, scalp types were classified as follow: Plain Scalp, Dry Scalp, Oily Scalp, Compound Scalp, Sensitive Scalp, Seborrhea Scalp, Pressure alopecia Scalp, Tinea capitis Scalp, Aging Scalp, Inflame Scalp, Psoriasis Scalp, Steroid side effect Scalp, alopecia scalp and so on. It was designed that each individual can perform the scalp imaging analysis using the system so that relevant experts review diagnosis history of existing databases and diagnose various statuses of scalps. Utilizing the system herein, we are looking forward to improving competitiveness of relevant industries.

The basic concept of the network is communication among multiple computers. Typical methods of this communication is to use a client and a server. The server may be a host device that everyone can access, the player playing the game may be to act as a server to other players directly. Once the server is running, and the client is connected, the two computers are to exchange data required for the multi-player network games. When developing the network game should pay a lot of attention and effort on some details. Most easily design and even in the game engine that can produce a functional networking remains a very complex thing. The network element of the game can develop in several different ways, which means that some of the key to determine a game developer. These decisions would be better to decide quickly on the single-player game, but the things that did not need anyhow multiplayer game development would give a very large impact early development possible. There is a common and proven three approaches deneun to configure the network game, reserved (authoritative) server, no access (non-authoritative) server, a peer-to-peer manner. The two approaches are leading the way to send and receive information to the client connects to the server. This approach, because there is no direct connection between the IP of the client are hidden from each other to provide more privacy (Privacy) to the end user (End user). In Peer-to-peer way all connected computers can send information directly to each other. In addition, communication concepts covered in the gaming network is two. The right remote procedure call (Remote procedure call, or RPC) and state synchronization (State synchronization). In general, two methods are used in the game, but in some cases, not according to the genre. In this paper, we approach networking in a general game network architecture, looked at the network communication method, we proposed a game networking components and design plans through them. Through this and to implement actual design of future multi-platform network game engine.
Evolutionary computation is a powerful tool for developing computer games. Back-propagation neural network(BPNN) was proved to be a universal approximator and genetic algorithm(GA) a global searcher. The game of Tic-Tac-Toe, also known as Naughts and Crosses, is often used as a test bed for testing new AI algorithms. We tried to recognize the strategic fitness of a finished Tic-Tac-Toe game when the parameters, such as a sequence of moves, its game depth and result, are provided. To implement this, we've constructed an evolutionary model using GA with back-propagation NNs(GANN). The experimental results revealed that GANN, in the very long training time, converges very slowly; however, performance of recognizing the strategic fitness does not meet we expected and, further, increase of the population size does not significantly contribute to the performance of GANN.
