In this paper, we present a new method for interactive movie that can be automated running without any coordinator. The presented method can also be automated and same effect as an experimental short film. Movie content is developed using interaction with motion recognition system and plots that require attention for more intensively and interest. In addition to a simple questions was conducted before and after watching contents for determine the effects of movie content and reaction of viewers. Through the interactive movie content has been investigated.
AR(Augmented Reality) techniques have been one of the most important areas in current mobile applications and games. This paper presents a novel mobile rendering method using environmental light sources. The location and intensity of the environmental light source is computed with Android mobile device, which is used for AR image rendering. The experimental results show that using the surrounding illumination enables us to generate more realistic rendering images with the shadows reflecting the environments.
To assess effectiveness in serious games is the principal means for the purpose of developing the game and criteria for assessing quality of the game. Until now, serious games assessment has been implemented mainly through surveys that measured from the outside of the game using in-depth interviews, or sensor-based psycho-physiological observation. However, these methods have limitations that do not properly reflect on the gaming experience that is characterized by the coevolution through player participation activities. Therefore, we propose a model to assess the effectiveness of serious games systematically through evaluating the functionality based on the player's feedback.

With the advent of the smartphone era, game design techniques are being used for smartphone applications, which have rapidly increased consumption, and their necessity and usefulness has become widely known. This paper introduce some definitions and category of gamification and suggest modified concept of gamification, Also this paper introduce representative examples in various fields. Lastly this paper identify the limitations of gamification through the analysis of various examples. Although we acknowledge the importance and effectiveness of gamification, it is more important to understand the advantages and limitation of it when we apply.
The international and domestic revenue keep growing constantly, and nowadays the international casino game industry is getting upgraded utilizing IT technology. In contrast, due to many constraints and limitations, Korean IT society has not paid attention to the casino IT area. Slot machine is one of popular gaming systems in the casino. In this paper, we present our design and implementation of protocol analysis system for SAS 6.0 protocol. Slot machine accounting system (SAS) is an international standards protocol and provides auditing, management, and additional service for slot machines. Our protocol analysis system design experience provide in-depth understanding on slot machine and its accounting requirement than a simple conceptual introduction of protocol. Also, the key difficulties of SAS protocol implementation and performance requirement is examined. Our system successfully works in small portable embedded system and showed its benefits, showing benefits for debugging and reverse-engineer a real work problem with commercial system. The engine of the analysis software will be the base of real SMIB (slot machine interface board) system for commercial use.
Housing system of MMORPG is value-gaining system introduced to maximize the accumulation of wealth and means of ownership that emerged in 2000 from the game named Ultima Online. Degree of application is determined by techincal elements and the skills of the player. MMORPG game is the one which accumulate the value, own and show-off. Players build house and inivite other players to show their influences, social standings and powers. Housing systems, but until now, there are several problems. Proper management such as protecting house or livestock raising is required while player leave the house for hunting or collecting resources. Like the real world's real estate, housing system require proper area to build the house and huge server to solve the process technically. In case of relocation, there could be several problems to resolute by applying theories of real estate and architecture. In this study, we proposed future housing system that complements a variety of problems of present housing system through customization of housing, the introduction of various applications and applying partner characters. Which will provide higher lever of entertainment while enjoying games. Future housing system should get out of existing uniform structure, develop with artistic value and eventually transform to higher and more diverse lever.
The MORPG(Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game) is one of the popular online game genre that its game play is more addictive and it has longer playing time compared with casual-style online game. This property makes it possible for game company to derive stable revenue for a long time other than casual- style online game. So far, developing MORPG has been popular on PC platform and now it has been started on a smart phone platform due to advances of hardware technologies and MORPG gives a new game experience to smartphone users. In order to make a new MORPG on smart phone platform, we have to design various use scenarios that are characterizing users’ behavioral actions in the game. It is time-consuming but we could save the design time if we reference to those of MORPG on PC platform. The paper proposes systematic user play scenarios for MORPGs on PC platform by characterizing 「Dungeon & Fighter」 and 「League of Legends」 which are the most popular MORPGs on PC, these days. We present the whole user scenarios with flowcharts showing the characteristics of all possible users’ actions in the MORPGs. When we make a new MORPG based on a smart phone platform, our results will provide with an effective design guideline for its game design.
MMORPG Gameplay is based in a Law of Spatial Maintenance. There are 4 distance types - critical distance, flight/chase distance, interaction distance, and escort distance- according to the interaction object’s types and goals. These distance are related that the player appreciates and recognizes the game space. This study is significant in the sense that it is the cornerstone of finding in gameplay's essence.
Although the history of the game of Go is more than 2,500 years, the theoretical studies of Go are still insufficient. In recent years a lot of studies using Artificial Intelligent (AI) have been conducted, but they do not provide the prominent theoretical reality. We applied traditional Principal Component Analysis (PCA) algorithm to the Go openings, which are the early stage in Go, to analyze them especially focused on the Go game records of the Korean top 10 professional Go players. We firstly analyzed the number of most significant eigenvectors capturing most of variance. Experimental result shows that among the 361 eigenvectors the eight most significant eigenvectors capture most of the variance (96.2%). We secondly used PCA classifier with Euclidean distance to recognize a pro player's opening to a class obtained from the training openings. Result shows that the best average recognition rate of 22% is so much lower than the recognition rates reported in face recognition research.

Virtual reality means artificial reality which can be realized through five senses. Observation can be possible as virtual reality leads to that human being are at tele-existence. In addition, human beings can have teleconferences and do cooperative work in the virtual reality environment. If we hear 3D sound in the space of virtual reality, we can almost realize such operations. 3D sound is essential to realize virtual reality. A variety of factors need to be considered such as intensity of sound delivered to ears, frequency spectrum, phase of sound and auditorial senses to implement 3D sound. In this paper, the information of the software can be transferred to the hardware, the hardware can be controlled, then 3D sound for teleconferences can be implemented in the virtual space, using Head Related Transfer Function (HRTF). Furthermore, it can also apply to 3D games.
Since the advent of smart phones in 2007, the population of smart phone user has been increasing at stunning rate in Korea. In spite of many benefits such as full internet access, location based service, and easy installation of new applications, many social and medical researches have been reported the concern of overuse of smart phones, especially for teenagers on game and internet addiction. However, most of studies are based on the survey research, so often questioned to be limited number of sample and subjective, which can be overcome by evident-based study. The paper presents a pilot development of Google Android app that provides the 24-hour-measured application usage pattern of smart phone users. A requirement study performed with medical doctors and phycologists are discussed and the key technical and application issues are discussed and their solutions are presented. The system is designed to be extensible so that social network and additional service can be applied based on the user. The measured data is expected to be used for study the cause and treatment of game and internet addiction for teenagers and adults.

This thesis is for introducing developed game contents for Child-centered play psychotherapy considering features of children in their developmental processes. with this, application of child-centered play psychotherapy as a medium and realization of game contents where children can play on touch screen are introduced to induce better remedial performance. Furthermore, it will guide a measure for application of child education.
In this paper, we propose the escape game Loony considering natural interaction. For user's immersion, the proposed game is designed similar to the real world such as a security card key, its card reader, coin, and a vending machine. In order for the user to easily understand the situation in the virtual environment, the proposed game provides enough information in game user interface. For easy operation, the proposed game reacts based on simple input method: mouse and just few keys on keyboard. For the purpose of verifying the effects of the interaction between the proposed game and the user, we compare the proposed game with two previous escape games based on the observational evaluation and the questionnaire evaluation. The evaluation results show that the proposed game is better than the previous games on the operation feeling and the situational awareness of the users.
Along with development of medical science, stroke is showing an increasing trend of occurrence due to improvement in living standards and increase in aged population. In particular, about 56% of all stroke patients are suffering from hemiplegia, which bring difficulty in everyday activities. There are various means of rehabilitation for such hemiplegic stroke patients, but such methods cannot be carried out alone but must be accompanied by therapists. Patients must visit treatment facilities to receive treatment. Accordingly, under the consideration that treatment and rehabilitation of stroke can be assisted using functional game as an auxiliary means to continued counseling and treatment by physician without limitation on location, time, and cost, the purpose of this study is to propose a rehabilitation rhythm game based on motions using appropriate platforms such as PC and smart phones.
In the game graphic design process, design results are based on ideas that drives major decisions. Many information and stimuli could help to determine an initial game graphic design concept which is called concept generation. In this study Related Search Term and WordNet stimuli were given to the game design students in the concept generation. This study seeks to clarify which kind of stimuli contributes more to the creativity of the game graphic design concept. As a result, significant difference was found in creativity scores between two conditions. This result showed that related search terms which are based on collective knowledge could assist as stimuli on concept generation more effectively than WordNet which offers semantic dictionary definitions.
Chroma key technique which composes images by separating an object from its background in specific color has restrictions on color and space. Especially, unlike general chroma key technique, image composition for stereo 3D display requires natural image composition method in 3D space. The thesis attempted to compose images in 3D space using depth keying method which uses depth information of Microsoft Kinect. Object was converted into point cloud type in 3D space after separating it from its background according to depth information. The image in which 3D virtual background and object are composed obtained and played stereo 3D images using a virtual camera. The research showed naturally composed stereo 3D images as well as the feasibility of applying stereoscopic 3D mixed reality image technology.
Creating avatar animations are tedious and time-consuming task since the desired avatar poses should be specified for each of a large number of keyframes. This paper proposes a fast and handy method to create game character animation contents using the motion data captured from the Kinect sensor. A Kinect sensor captures and saves the human motion. The Kinect sensor provides the motion information in a simple form of coordinates of joint positions. Using the captured motion data we determine the set of bone transforms that makes up the human skeletal animation data. The animation data is utilized to determine the position of all the bones at the current time in the animation. For experimental purpose we create a simple avatar character. We express the character model by the MD5 format, in which the mesh data and animation data are separated. A set of twenty joint positions reflect a snapshot of the character pose. The sets are used to evaluate the bone transform matrices and construct our skeletal animation scheme. We verified our method by appling the captured Kinect motion data to character animation. Our approach provides an easy method for creating avatar animations.

Autotelic user activity and rich user experience can be the key factors causing immersion as an intrinsic motivation of steadily using smartphones. We have selected Csikszentmihalyi's Flow as a basic and theoretical framework of study on the intrinsic motivation. We have derived which user experience design factors bring about flow while using smartphones. We have collected specific key words by literature analyses, web sites survey and in-depth interviews and have summarized. As a results, the user experience design factor is categorized into usability, personalization, physical satisfaction, interactivity, aesthetic satisfaction, usefulness. The 6 design measures are different from general categories of previous media and interface design researches, but they are based on emperical data and realistic factors which reflect design characteristics of smart phones.
