In previous research team had reported that the durability of carbonation is improved by filling voids due to the saponification reaction of oil and concrete. The purpose of this study was to have experimental investigation the effect of mock-up experiment on the carbonation resistance of the waste concrete admixture.

In previous research, the durability of the concrete was improved by filling the capillary voids with soap by the saponification reaction of the glycerin ester of the oil and the alkali of the concrete. Thus, in this research, there will be an experimental investigation on the effects of various strengths on the resistance to salt attack resistance by applying ordinary strength concrete.

As interest in sustainable concrete increases, research on replacing cement with alternative materials has been actively conducted. Therefore, in this study, flexural and compressive tests were carried out using sustainable specimens fabricated by replacing part of cement with blast furnace slag and activated Hwang-Toh as alternative materials and control specimen. Based on the test results, the specimen with blast furnace slag showed the best load-carrying capacity. Compared with the control specimen, the specimen with activated Hwang-Toh indicated about 94.8~102.1% load-carrying capacity. Thus, it appears that the sustainable concrete can be practically used in the construction field.

This study investigated the properties of foamed concrete by using surfactant foaming agent and synthetic foaming agent. The effects of foaming agent types on the compressive strength, density and pore structure of the concrete were investigated. The samples were assessed by XRD analysis and simultaneous SEM was used to study their pore distribution. This study showed the improvement of important properties of foamed concrete. Lower pore distribution and correspondingly higher compressive strength values were reached. Also, synthetic foaming agent had more positive effect on the strength of foamed concrete

This paper presents the flexural test results of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) prisms with different lengths of steel fibers. The specified compressive strength of SFRC is 40 MPa. Two types of steel fiber used in this study have lengths (0.5 and 0.9mm). Test results indicated that steel fibers with longer length is more effective to improve the flexural performance of concrete prisms than steel fibers with shorter length.

This paper provides the flexural test results of steel fiber reinforced concrete (SFRC) prisms with different aspect ratios of steel fibers (60 and 67). All mixtures have specific compressive strength of 40 MPa and steel fiber volume fraction of 0.75%. According to ASTM C 1609 and EN-14651, SFRC prisms with 150×150×550 mm were made and tested under bending loading. Test results indicated that the aspect ratio of hooked-end steel fibers has insignificant effect on the first-cracking strength and flexural behavior of SFRC prisms.

In this study, we study the characteristics of thermal diffusion of cement paste at elevated temperature. Results of the experiments can be used to predict the fire damaged temperatures of concrete, and to recommend proper methods for repair and rehabilitation.

This paper investigates the effect of amount of Paraffin-encapsulated phase change material (PCM) on the thermal energy storage of cement mortar for developing energy saving concrete. The PCM with melting point of 44℃ was used in this study. The added amounts of PCM in the cement mortar were 0, 10, 20 and 30% of cement weight. The results indicated that the heat storage properties of cement mortar was improved with increasing contents of PCM.

This study presents the results of experimental research to investigate the drying shrinkage properties of mortar containing the fly-ash and glycol-ether shrinkage reducing agent. the drying shrinkage of mortar was measured according to KS F 2424. It was confirmed from test results that 10% fly-ash replacement and 1% shrinkage reducing agent is most effective to decrease the shrinkage of mortar.

Concrete has been recognized as a material which is resistant to the high temperature, but chemicophysical property of concrete is changed by the high temperature. So, mechanical properties of concrete may be reduced. Therefore, concrete is evaluated mechanical properties for safety inspection. However, research of ultrasonic pulse method is not much. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to Non-Destructive Test of 30, 70, 110MPa concrete exposed high temperature using ultrasonic pulse velocity.

In this research, the investigation of the temperature condition of reinforcing bars under laboratory temperature and outside temperature conditions in the insulation curing method of Korean-Chinese concrete bubble sheet to examine the suitability of the bubble sheet curing method. As a result, the heat of hydration of the concrete on the wall part affects the exposed reinforcing bars to delay the temperature drop at the part where the bubble sheet is not laid.

In this research, in order to improvement the performance of the two-component mixed aggregate mixed with fine granite fine aggregate and seawater, the examination of the effect of reject ash on the cement mortar according to the change of substitution rate was done. As a result, it was found that the effect of improving the compressive strength is more effective when the rejection ash is replaced by 5% in the mixed aggregate than in the case of using the high quality aggregate.

Research on concrete using activated Hwang-Toh is intensively conducted to protect environment. Therefore, in this study, the effect of activation of Hwang-Toh on strength was investigated through flexural and compressive tests. The specimen made by replacing part of cement with inactivated Hwang-Toh showed strength 55~61% of the control specimen. However, the specimen with activated Hwang-Toh as alternative material indicated load-carrying capacity 76~102% in comparison with the control specimen. Hence, concrete with activated yellow soil can be use in the construction market.

Phase change material (PCM) has been developed and applied in various fields as construction material. If the application of PCM as the semi-rigid pavement cement grout becomes available, it would be possible to control the occurrence of a micro crack due to the generation of hydration heat in the ultra rapid harding cement, and if the occurrence of a micro crack is reduced, it would be possible to improve the cohesion performance between asphalt matrix and grout as well as to compact the matrix of the pavement material, improving the durability. This study was conducted examine the mechanical properties of LEFC in relation to the type of light weight aggregate and replacement ratio. For the specimen, different replacement ratio was used for recycled waste ALC and the bottom ash light weight aggregate respectively. The tests revealed that 60% of the waste ALC light weight aggregate is suitable for securing the optimal strength and light weight of the LEFC.

This study was conducted examine the workability of LEFC in relation to unit quantity of water and fiber addition. The LEFC should secure low weight and good flow by mixing light weight aggregate because the fresh concrete should cured so that gaps do not form between the acrlyic wedges and the concrete with the fresh. The slump tests revealed that fresh concrete with 180 units of water and 0.1% fiber content and fresh concrete with 190 units of water and 0.1%, 0.2% fiber content respectively had excellent workability.

This study was conducted to examine the workability of LEFC in relation to the types and the mix ratio of different foaming agents. The foam agents act as lightweight aggregates in the concrete matrix and provide an alternative to obtaining the adequate strength level for the foam concrete. The results of the test showed that the synthetic foam agents were able to act properly as replacements for the lightweight aggregates.

In this study, it was developed geopolymer concrete of alkali-activated using the mixed fly ash and blast furnace slag. and it was developed the interlocking block using the developed geopolymer concrete. In addition, the bending strength and water absorption rate of the interlocking block was tested by KS standard. The test results were as follows. The water adsorption ratio of the BSF4 specimen was under 10%, and the flexural strength of that was over 5MPa.
