        A giant jellyfish (Nemopilema nomurai), which is presumed developing in the East China Sea, is recently one of major issues in the Northeast Asia region due to its fatal damage to the fishery. The biomass estimates have generally been conducted by trawl sampling and sighting survey methods. The biological research is also needed to clarify such environmental origin or diurnal migration patterns. While trawl sampling or sighting survey methods are effective to investigate its density estimates in its distributed community of near bottom or surface, they have a problem in investigation on the vertical distribution of jellyfishes. In this case, an echo sounding detection would have an advantage to survey it more extensively and effectively. This trial was conducted to observe the vertical distribution of giant jellyfish, where thermocline strongly formed, during mooring at each station of the East China Sea and southern coastal area using acoustical and optical methods. By the results, they were observed to exit and move at the water column under the thermocline using the optical camera and echo sounder system, and the information was analyzed to find out the acoustical sound scattering characteristics relatives to 120kHz frequency. These results can be utilized effectively to estimate the vertical distribution and biomass of Giant jellyfish with comparing results from trawl sampling and sighting survey methods, hereafter.

        Estimating fishing capacity is one of current hot issues in the international fisheries. It is because that increased fishing capacity has caused not only fish stocks to be reduced, but also additional fishing costs to be incurred without additional incomes, which resulted in decrease of economically viability of fisheries. In order to solve this problem, FAO adopted 'the International Plan of Action for the Management of Fishing Capacity' in 1999 and recommended that member countries to measure fishing capacity and to implement the domestic action plan to reduce excess fishing capacity. This study is aimed at assessing fishing capacity of the octopus coastal trap fishery(OCTF) using data envelopment analysis(DEA) which is a method recommended by FAO. The DEA results on 10 individual OCTF vessels showed that the capacity utilization(CU) was a 0.93 on average, indicating some differences in CU among vessels(0.79-1.0). In addition, results of the sensitivity analysis revealed that under the current level of catch, the gross tonnage, horse power, days fished, and traps per trip could be reduced by 35%, 33%, 16%, and 18% on average, respectively.

        All of the city gas companies in Korea must employ the gas safety patrols by law. The gas safety patrols are responsible for the various tasks including daily gas pipeline patrol to prevent gas accidents. Since the size of jurisdiction varies among the city gas companies, it is very difficult to compare their efficiency for the operations of the safety patrol each other directly. The objective of this research is to develop the methodology to analyze and compare the efficiency of the safety patrol's operations among various city gas companies. Several factors that are related to the safety patrol's duty on the gas safety factors were identified and DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) model for efficiency analysis was developed. Finally, the DEA model was applied to the collected data from six city gas companies. The less efficient city gas companies can benchmark the higher efficient city gas companies in order to improve the safety control systems.

        Ordered to FePt nanoparticles are strong candidates for high density magnetic data storage media because the phase FePt has a very high magnetocrystalline anisotropy , high coercivity and chemical stability. In this study, the ordered FePt nanoparticles were successfully fabricated by chemical vapor condensation process without a post-annealing process which causes severe particle growth and agglomeration. The nanopowder was obtained when the mixing ratio of Fe(acac) and Pt(arac) was 2.5 : 1. And the synthesized FePt nanoparticles were very fine and spherical shape with a narrow size distribution. The average particle size of the powder tended to increase from 5 nm to 10 nm with increasing reaction temperature from to . Characterisitcs of FePt nanopowder were investigated in terms of process parameters and microstructures.

        본 연구는 소 배반포의 내부 세포괴로부터 다능성(pluripotency)을 지닌 배아 줄기 세포(embryonic stem cell) 또는 그 유사 세포를 분리 및 배양함으로써 줄기 세포 관련 분야의 기반 기술을 확립하고자 하였다. 소 체외수정란을 10~12일간 체외배양하여 생산된 부화 배반포를 세포분열이 불활성화된 생쥐 태아 섬유아 세포(mouse embryonic fibroblast, MEF) 위에서 배양하여 콜로니 형성을 유도하였으며, 이들로부터 내부 세포괴 유래의 형태를 지닌 것만을 광학현미경 하에서 물리적으로 분리하여 약 5~7일 간격으로 계대배양을 실시하였다. 이러한 방법을 통하여 배아 줄기 유사 세포의 특성을 40계대 이상 유지하는 2개의 세포주를 확립하였다. 각각의 세포주들은 높은 alkaline phosphatase(AP) 활성을 지니고 있었으며, 형광 면역 염색법과 PCR 기법을 사용하여 Oct-4, Nanog, STAT3, SSEA3 및 SSEA4의 발현을 관찰할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과를 종합하여 볼 때 ,본 연구에서는 소 배반포로부터 배아 줄기 세포주를 확립하는 제반 기술이 확립되었다고 판단되며, 향후 관련 분야 연구에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

        본 연구는 소의 초기 난할 단계인 2 또는 4세포기 수정란의 특정 분할구가 배반포 단계의 내부 세포괴(Inner Cell Mass) 와 영양막 세포(Trophectoderm cells)로의 발달 운명이 미리 정해지는 지를 확인하기 위해 실시되었다. 먼저 생쥐의 체내 수정란과 소의 체외 수정란에서 배반포의 영양막 세포에서만 특이적으로 발현하는 cdx2 단백질의 발현 양상을 조사하였다. 또한, 소의 경우 2세포기와 4세포기가 내부 세포괴와 영양막 세포로 나눠지는 시점인지를 조사하기 위해 2 또는 4세포기의 특정 분할구에Dextran의 주입 실험과 분할구 제거 실험을 통해 ICM과 TE 형성을 확인하였다. cdx2의 발현 경향은 생쥐와 소의 2세포기일 때 대칭과 비대칭적으로 발현되는 것을 확인하였다. 생쥐의 4, 8세포기 및 상실배기에서는 분할구 전체에서 발현되었으나, 소 수정란의 분할구에서는 전체 또는 부분적으로 발현되었다. 또한, 생쥐와 소의 배반포기에서는 영양막 세포에서만 발현이 되는 것을 확인하였다. 소 수정란의 2세포기와 4세포기 단계에서 특정 분할구에 주입된 Dextran은 배반포의 내부 세포괴와 영양막 세포의 양쪽에 분포된 것을 관찰할 수 있었다. 2세포기 단계에서 하나의 분할구가 제거된 수정란 역시 ICM 및 TE 세포를 지닌 정상 배반포로 발달함을 확인하였다. 따라서 본 연구 결과는 영양막 세포에서만 특이적으로 발현하는 cdx2의 발현이 2 또는 4세포기 단계 소 수정란에서는 특별한 차이를 보이지 않으며, 궁극적으로 난할 초기에는 ICM과 TE 세포로의 운명이 결정되지 않는다는 것을 보여준다.

        제주도 동백동산 상록활엽수림 식물군집 구조의 특성을 파악하기 위하여 34개의 조사구를 설정하고 식생조사를 실시하였다. 동백동산 상록활엽수림은 28~52년 된 식생으로 TWINSPAN과 평균상대우점치 분석결과 먼나무군집, 구실잣밤나무군집, 구실잣밤나무-종가시나무군집, 종가시나무-구실잣밤나무군집, 종가시나무군집, 종가시나무-동백나무군집, 종가시나무-때죽나무군집 등 총 7개의 군집으로 나누어졌다. 상대우점치와 흉직경급별분포 분석결과 동백동산은 교목층에서 구실잣밤나무와 종가시나무가 우점하고 하층에 동백나무가 우점하는 식생이었다. 먼나무군집과 종가시나무-때쭉나무군집은 교목층이 훼손된 식생이었다. Shannon의 종다양도는 구실잣밤나무와 종가시나무가 우점종인 6개 군집은 0.8745~1.3018이었으며, 먼나무군집이 0.7619로 가장 낮았다. 7개의 군집 모두에서 제주도 상록활엽수림의 전형적인 아교목 및 관목성상 수종인 동백나무, 사스레피나무, 먼나무, 마삭줄, 백량금 등이 출현하였다. 또한 조사구내 난대기후대의 극상수종으로 추정되는 육박나무, 생달나무 및 참식나무가 출현하였으며 생달나무의 상재도는 80%이상이었다. 제주도 동백동산 상록활엽수림은 구실잣밤나무와 종가시나무가 혼생하는 식생으로 그 하층에 동백나무가 우점하는 식생이며, 천이방향은 상록활엽수림의 극상수종으로 보고되고 있는 육박나무, 참식나무 등의 세력 이 약하며 하층에 동백나무의 세력이 강하여 지속적인 관찰이 필요하였다.

        The sciaenid species, which has swimbladder, generates sounds by vibrating in its length wards when spawning or getting stimulus from something else. This research analyzed on sound frequency characteristics relatives to their swimbladder length of three sciaenid species, yellow croaker(Larimichthys polyactis), brown croaker(Miichthys miiuy), and white flower croaker(Nibea albiflora). As results, the dominant frequency for yellow croaker ranged over 38.08 to 141.60Hz in wide frequency band, and the averaged pulse duration expressed in 280.3±156.0ms. For brown croaker, the dominant frequency ranged in 49.80 to 59.57Hz, and the averaged pulse duration was 129.1±36.9ms. Moreover, the dominant frequency of white flower croaker ranged in 73.24 to 86.91Hz, and the averaged pulse duration was 88.0±15.9ms, it has shorter pulse duration than any two species. Therefore, the dominant frequency relatives to swimbladder length of sciaenidae showed that it had widely resonant characteristics and long pulse duration as in shorter swimbladder length. Additionally, for white flower croaker, we could confirm their behavior and sounds in response to production of recorded sounds using underwater speaker.

        Fishing power, which means performance of fishing vessel or catchability of fishing gear, can explain using by fishing power index(FPI) to compare fishery efficiency among uniformity types of fishery that work during the fixed period in specific fishing ground. This research analyzed on their fishing power and catchability using comparing each sampled vessels of coastal trap fishery for common octopus. The results showed that they were no difference in amount of used trap and immersed time etc. in CPUE among sampled vessels, and had no correlation of catch production due to vessel's tonnage. Most vessel's FPI estimates but 3 vessels were higher than the averaged, and showed similar fishing power in general. And then, CPUE and FPI showed that 4 to 5 tonnage vessels would be superior to another, 4 tonnage vessels had also good catchability. Therefore, we estimated that 4 tonnage vessels had the most efficiency work for coastal trap fishery for common octopus.

        The electrophoretic deposition process of Ni nano-particles in organic suspension was employed for self-repairing of heat exchanger tubes. For this purpose, Ni nano-particles prepared by levitational gas condensation method were dispersed into the solution of ethanol with the addition of dispersant Hypermer KD2. For electrophoretic deposition of Ni nano-particles on the Ni alloy specimen, constant electric fields of 20 and 100 V were applied to the specimen in Ni-dispersed solution. It was found that as electrophoretic deposition proceeds, the size of the pit or crack remarkably decreased due to the agglomeration of Ni nano-particles at the pit or crack. This strongly suggests that the electrophoretic mobility of the charged particles is larger for the damaged part with a higher current value rather than outer surfaces with a lower current value.

        본 연구에서는 수컷 랫드에 DEHP를 투여하여 실험적으로 생식 독성을 유발하고, vitamin E와 catechin을 단독 및 병용 투여하여 수컷 랫드에서 정소의 조직학적 변화, 정액 특성의 변화 및 정자의 운동성 변화 등을 조사하여 그 예방 효과를 알아보고자 하였다. DEHP를 투여한 군은 대조군에 비해 정자농도, 정자 생존율, 정상 정자율이 감소하였다. DEHP에 의한 생식 독성을 예방하기 위해 vitamin E와 catechin을 단독 또는 병행

        The microstructure and hardness of (W,Ti)C cemented carbides with a different metallic binder composition of Ni and Co fabricated by powder technology were investigated. The densifications of the prepared materials were accomplished by using vacuum sintering at . Nearly full dense (W,Ti)C cemented carbides were obtained with a relative density of up to 99.7% with 30 wt.% Co and 99.9% with 30 wt.% Ni as a metallic binder. The average grain size of the (W,Ti)C-Co and the (W,Ti)C-Ni was decreased by increasing the metallic binder content. The hardness of the dense (W,Ti)C-15 wt%Co and (W,Ti)C-15 wt%Ni, was greater than that of the other related cemented carbides; in addition, the cobalt-based cemented carbides had greater hardness values than the nickel-based cemented carbides.
