        As contemporary society has become more complicated, specialized, and segmented, people are experiencing more diverse types of stress. In particular, while several factors associated with job stress have been examined among nurses, who belong to a professional group, the existing research has made no quantitative assessments of stress that reflect temporal differences in individuals. Therefore, the aim of this study is to understand the effects of job stress on alpha-amylase with regard to the working hours of nurses, to assess the variations in jobs stress over time, and provide basic data to improve the quality of nursing services. Ninety nurses working in three shifts in general, emergency, and intensive care wards of a university hospital in D City participated in this study. Salivary alpha-amylase (SAA) was extracted and analyzed at two-hour intervals from 07:00 to 15:00 from nurses on the day shift and from 23:00 to 07:00 from those working the night shift. The SAA level was highest between 23:00 and 01:00 for nurses in general wards (mean±S.D. 39.00±14.88) and between 11:00 and 13:00 for those in both intensive care units and emergency wards (mean ± S.D. 67.50 ± 62.93 and mean ± S.D. 39.67±35.96, respectively). The characteristic variation in SAA was significant between 23:00 and 01:00 (p < 0.01) and for those in their fifties or older (p < 0.01). The activation ratio of alpha-amylase, a stress reactant, showed an increase when the sympathetic nervous system was activated by mental stress; in addition, job stress was manifested with the effect of awakening at different time segments and at different ages among the nurses. With the aim of raising the level of service based on the nurses maintaining their mental health, it is necessary to focus sharply on the time segment for critical control and to conduct repetitive studies to determine the divisions of eustress critical values as well as to expand the population.

        목적 : 정부는 2013년부터 ‘보호자 없는 병동’으로 지칭되는 포괄간호서비스 제도를 시범적으로 실시하고 있으며 이것을 2018년까지 모든 병원으로 확대할 계획이다. 이 제도는 입원환자에 대해 가족 구성원이 간병을 해야 한다거나 혹은 사설간병인을 고용해야 한다는 사회ㆍ경제적 부담을 줄이기 위함이 목적이 다. 하지만 보호자가 상주하지 않는다는 측면에서 환자의 낙상과 같은 안전사고에 대한 우려가 제기되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 우려를 해결하기 위한 대안을 조사해보고자 한다. 연구방법 : 이미 선진국에서는 오래전부터 포괄간호서비스 제도를 시행하고 있고 낙상예방을 위하여 병원 안내지침(guideline)을 제작하여 활용하고 있다. 이러한 낙상예방 안내지침이 우리나라에 적용 가능한지 를 알아보기 위해 미국, 영국 그리고 호주의 병원 내 낙상예방 안내지침을 분석하였다. 결과 : 미국, 영국 그리고 호주의 병원 낙상예방 안내지침에 의하면 병원 내 환자의 안전한 생활을 위하여 다학제간 보건 인력팀을 구성하여 역할을 분담하고 있다. 각 전문 인력들은 낙상의 요인들을 분야별로 접근하여 중재를 제공한다. 특히 물리치료사와 작업치료사는 노인 환자의 병원 입원에 있어서 낙상을 예 방하고, 안전한 생활을 하는데 있어 매우 중요한 역할을 하고 있다. 결론 : 정부는 포괄간호서비스의 확대와 더불어 환자의 안전한 병원생활을 위해서 물리치료사와 작업치료사 가 포함된 낙상예방을 위한 안내지침을 연구 및 개발해야 할 것이다.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the studies that included simulation based learning for nursing students in Korea. Methods: We searched for published and unpublished researches using electronic Korean database such as RISS, KISTI/NDSL, the National Library of Korea, KERIS, KISS, DBpia, Hakjisa, and Google scholar. The term for nursing, simulation, and scenario were entered as key words. Result: Total 42 studies were included and categorized in final. The major subject of simulation based learning was adult nursing for 3rd and 4th grade nursing students using high fidelity simulators. For applying the simulation based learning, 3-6 students were designated as a team. The most evaluation components were knowledge, clinical performance and satisfaction on simulation based learning. Conclusion: The results provide that the main theme or scenarios for simulation based learning in nursing students were varied and detailed according to clinical situation. However, the qualification for instructors should be reported in studies for simulation based leaning in nursing.

        Background: Team-based learning (TBL) strategy have been applied in various nursing education as focusing on what students doing in-class and how learning from their experience. The purpose of this study was to develop and apply the TBL approach to teach pain assessment and management for undergraduate nursing students. Methods: Pain management education using TBL was applied in fundamentals of nursing course and consisted of three sessions for 2nd year nursing students. For developing the TBL, instructors redesigned the course before starting the semester and collected the cases reports from clinical environment. TBL on pain management was then applied into fundamentals of nursing course for 3 weeks. After completion the TBL course, satisfaction and self-confidence were collected. Result: We designed activities in four different points of TBL course such as a) before class begins, b) preparation, c) readiness assurance, and d) application. In before class, students can be identified instructional goal of TBL and activities of each point of course with their team member. The scores of students’ satisfaction and self-confidence in learning were high. Most students were positively described their experience of TBL course on pain management. Conclusion: Based on this development process and application, TBL approach will be applicable in various nursing education for enhancing the knowledge and making a clinical decision of nursing students.

        Purpose: This study was tried to identify the effects of simulation program by applying hazard perception training on self-efficacy of patient safety, error recovery and problemsolving process in nursing students. Methods: A nonequivalent control group designed was used. The study was composed of hazard perception training and simulation program. Sixteen teams of a total of 61 nursing students participated in the simulation program using a high fidelity simulator. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, χ2-test and t-test using PASW 18.0 program. Result: There were statistically signigicant in self-efficacy of patient safety(t=2.55, p=.013), error recovery(t=2.82, p=.007), and problem-solving process(t=3.29, p=.002) in the experimental group. Conclusion: These results indicate that the simulation program by applying hazard perception training is effective in improving self-efficacy of patient safety, error recovery and problem-solving process for nursing students. Further study is recommended to confirm the long-term effects of the simulation program by applying hazard perception training.

        Purpose: This study was to identify the effect of siimulation-based educational for delivery nursing program on knowledge, problem solving process and confidence in nursing students. Methods: This study was one group pre-post test design, participants are 51 nursing student. This simulation-based education for delivery nursing program was applied to the subjects from 31th, August to 25th, September, 2015. The program consist of a scenario in which each of the situations presented from first stage of labor to the fourth stage of labor. Data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Result: There was a significant difference on delivery nursing knowledge, problem solving process and confidence. Conclusion: Therefore, the educational program of labor simulation was effective on improving knowledge, problem solving process and self-confidence among nursing students.

        This study investigates the current states and strategies to promote simulation based nursing education. The subjects of study were 118 domestic four-year college samples, the survey was used a self-report questionnaire from October 2015 to February, 2016. The result of this study was that Simulation training course was composed of 'credits' (82.5%), practice personnel for simulation training course was mean 11.6 persons per practice group, and simulation training course consisted of almost six placement, and there were mean 3.08 simulation models. And Charge instructors for simulation practice were a assistant professor(28.9%), professor(26.3%), and dedicated personnel was mean 1.7 persons. Instructors were received education an average of 4.40 times, they learned the most common from institutions and medical device company(30.4%), The result was revealed that "Critical thinking skills" (23.7%) of the goal of simulation nursing education was the most common, and the contents of evaluation contents was problem-solving skills (20.9%). Most majors to conjugate simulation nursing education were an average of 2.54 credits/3.14 hours as an adult nursing, 1.55 credits/1.60 hrs as an pediatric nursing, 1.50 credits/3.00 hrs as fundamentals of nursing, and 1.25 credits/2.63 hrs as an maternal nursing, respectively. Most scenarios that were dyspnea care (67.5%) %), cardiovascular care (50.0%), maternal child-related care (47.5%), and hypoglycemia nursing care(37.5%), and others(67.5%). In conclusion, it is necessary to establish the standard for simulation nursing education and it is expected to reflect in the policies of educational accreditation.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to find and describe the social adjustment process of nursing students in the clinical practice. Methods: The participants were 19 nursing students who hadmore than 24 weeks clinical practice and agreed with the participation in this research. Data were collected from focused group interviews. The participants were divided into three groups. Data and transcribed notes were analyzed using the grounded theory methodology and it was developed by Strauss & Corbin (1998). Results: Core concept was extracted as “Adapting to the strange environment". And 6 interaction strategies of the social adjustment process of nursing students in the clinical practice were derived. 6 interaction strategies were as follows: 'Inquiring', 'Changing', 'Enduring', 'Accepting', 'Acquiring', and 'Attracting'. Conclusion: The results of this study will be used to develop the programs to support the adjustment of nursing students to the clinical practice. Especially this support program must embody the core concept that is "Adapting to the strange environment". That has been developed by nursing students who adjusted themselves to the strange environment by their own methods.

        The health care markets are rapidly expanded due to population aging, increasing incomes, strengthening assurance of health insurance and so on, and the competition in the markets is getting serious. In the industry, hospitals have played more important role than any others, where doctors, nurses, medical technicians, administrative staff, etc cooperatively works hard. Among them, nurses capture 40 percents of specialized hospital workers and their role for patients as customers is essential. Therefore, it could be one of the most important keys to increase the productivity and wellbeing of nurses with respect to enhancing efficiency and competitiveness of operating hospitals. In this paper the impact of nurses' job satisfaction, job stress, burnout, and organizational citizenship behavior on their productivity is studied. The subjects were 576 nurses in 20 different hospitals in Seoul, Kyounggi, etc. We held hypotheses and statistically tested and analysed them, using SPSS 20.0 software. Thus, we found various significant results(p<0.05), and they will give useful suggestions for managing nurse manpower and enhancing their productivity.

        The veterinary technology of the U.S. has been improving for fast 60 years. Now, the practical study is getting more important in field of veterinary medicine and laboratory research and the veterinary technician is leading the people who work for veterinary field in the world. The history of veterinary technology in the U.S. reaches to over 60 years. They, however, make their veterinary technology to be organized and to be good partners with veterinarians. In the very first time, the veterinary technology was started in the U.S. Army for caring of military dogs and horses. The army established the veterinary troop for the management of foods, public hygiene, and animal service. From the early 1960, some veterinarians recognized the need of animal assistant according to the increase of veterinary industry in the U.S.. They began to establish department of veterinary technology in a few colleges and to organize committee or board which controled its exam, curriculum, and accreditation. In 1967, American Veterinary Medical Association started to accredit some program of veterinary technology in official. Now, it has accredit over 300 programs in the U.S.. The organization of veterinary technician has grown to lead animal industry in the country. The Bureau of Labor Standards reported there were over 80,000 veterinary technicians in the U.S. and the job growth will grow average or more in the next ten years.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the difference in problem solving ability and learning flow by team based simulation learning depending on the level of metacognition of nursing students. Methods: This study was one group pre-posttest design. The subjects were 81 students enrolling in the simulation-based practice. Simulation learning included team based pre-discussion, taking a simulation and being debriefed during 4 weeks. Data were collected from May to June, 2015 using a structured questionnaire on metacognition, problem solving ability, and learning flow. Data were analyzed using SPSS win 20.0 program. Result: There were significant positive correlations between metacognition, problem solving ability, and learning flow. The student who had higher metacognition score than other group had scored problem solving ability and learning flow in pre and post program. Conclusion: These results suggest that metacognition has a positive effect on nursing students' learning outcomes. Therefore, it should be considered the metacognition in composing the team based simulation learning in nursing.

        Purpose: This study was to identify relationship between instructor and learner's evaluation in the simulation-based maternity nursing. Methods: The simulation-based nursing education program was taken by 112 fourth year nursing students. 30 item clinical practice competency evaluation tool has been developed for instructor. And 30 item clinical practice competency scale(self reported form) was used for students. Result: The critical items of the simulation-based maternity nursing were suggested in this study. Mean score for clinical practice competency are as follows: student's evaluation 4.0(on a 5-point scale), instructor's evaluation 76.7(on a total 90-point). There was a positive correlation between instructor and learner's evaluation score. Conclusion: These findings will be useful guideline in development direction of qualitative simulation-based nursing education program.

        Purpose: This study was tried to identify the effects of problem-based learning integrated with simulation education on the critical thinking disposition, problem-solving process and self-confidence of nursing process in nursing students. Methods: This study was one group pre-post test design, participants are 47 senior nursing students. We developed the simulation practice by applying problem based learning taking 2 hours per session, once per week for 15 weeks. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Result: There was a significant difference simulation practice by applying problem based learning on the critical thinking disposition, problem-solving process and self-confidence of nursing process of nursing students. There was a correlation between each other variables. Conclusion: Therefore, suggest that the repeated studies to verify the effects of simulation practice by applying problem based learning.

        Purpose: The purpose of this study were to compare the satisfaction in major and work value among the each grade of college nursing students. Methods: This study adopted the descriptive comparative design, Subjects were 225 students from two nursing schools in the Seoul city. The instruments used for this study were a self-report questionnaire. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, one way ANOVA, Duncan post-hoc test, and Pearson correlation coefficient using the SPSS WIN 18.0 program. Results: There were significant differences in major satisfaction and especially, senior students showed the lowest score. There were no significant differences in the work value among the grades. The major satisfaction was correlated significantly with the work value. It showed that higher major satisfaction, more positive work value. Conclusion: Based on the results, major satisfaction had significant correlations with the work value among the students. Which proves that the scores of major satisfaction has its effects on the students’ values of the profession. Therefore, new education system using various learning strategies such as simulation and team-based learning is must needed for each grade in order for students to gain satisfaction in their major, which will improve the nature of future nursing environment and their working values.

        Purpose: This study sheds light on the learning experiences of simulation-based education in nursing, through a comparative analysis with clinical practice experiences. Methods: Participants were six nursing students who underwent simulation-based nursing education. In-depth focused individual interviews were conducted, and themes were extracted from the data through content analysis. Results: Two essential themes were extracted: 1) shift from being an observer to being active participants and 2) shift from unidimensional to multi-dimensional problem solving. Conclusion: These results indicate that simulation-based education was effective in enhancing learning attitude and problem-solving skills. These results can also guide nurse educators regarding the conditions under which simulation environments are more effective

        Purpose: this study was to investigate the correlation between sleep, self-efficacy and intuition among nursing students. Methods: data were obtained from 144 nursing students with 3rd and 4th during Oct and Dec, 2008. Data were collected using by several measurement tools which were Oh's Korean Sleep scale A, Sherer's General Self-efficacy scale, and Smith Intuition instrument. Results: the results showed that there was difference between the grade and self-efficacy, difference between religion and sleep, between religion and self-efficacy, and between perceived health status and sleep. The correlation between sleep and self-efficacy was positive correlation. Conclusion: it has to develop the nursing intervention program to improve sleep and self-efficacy for nursing students. And then, nursing students will have the competence to reduce stress and anxiety about clinical practicum and overload of studying. For further research, it should to study the relationship between sleep, self-efficacy and intuition among nurses.

        Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify instructor’s experience on debriefing of nursing simulation education Methods: The participants were nine instructors in simulation-based nursing education. Data were collected from May, 2015 to June, 2015, through in-depth interviews and were analyzed on the basis of Colaizzi’s phenomenological methodology. Results: Three essential themes were extracts that were as follows 1) Instructors’ reflection on their teaching of debriefing in education 2) Determining the effects of debriefing in the simulation-based nursing education 3) Devoting one’s efforts for successful debriefing Conclusion: Debriefing is built on instructors’ reflection of how the debriefing process can be applied in simulation-based nursing education; this process can provide a practical understanding of nursing students, educational contents, and educational environments. Successful debriefing for enhanced nursing competency requires instructors’ effects to identify and deal with educational problems by reflecting on their teaching experience.

        Purpose: This study was to develop a clinical competence scale to assess competence of nursing students in neonatal core nursing management after delivery in the simulation-based clinical situations. Methods: The assessment items developed with 14 items of 3 point scale. An expert panel of 4 professor and 1 nurse reviewed the scale for content validity by using the CVI(Content Validity Index). Following the establishment of content validity, 14 items of the checklist were developed. The simulation-based neonatal core nursing education that consisted of four sessions for 6 hours lecture and practice was provided to 26 small groups. Result: The total mean score of clinical competence in neonatal core nursing care was 20.04. Items with the highest mean score was 1.87 with 'apply clean gloves'. Items with lowest mean score was 1.15 with 'perform the body temperature management to the neonatal'. Reliability of between two evaluation using Cronbach's alpha was .86. Conclusion: This results show neonatal core nursing care assessment tool developed this study had reliability and validity. Further studies are needed to determine property of tool in neonatal core nursing care assessment tool.
