        Distribution of pathogenic vibrios in the seawater of live fish tank and effect of environmental factors an their existence were investigated by collecting samples from fish markets and restaurants in 6 different cities. Pathogenic vibrios and coliforms were determined by using the most probable number (MPN) procedure, and aerobic plate count was enumerated by the standard pour plate method. No Vibrio cholerae O1 was detected in all the samples tested. Detection rates of Y. cholerae non-Ol, V. parahaemolyticus and V. vulnificus in all the samples tested were 7.7%, 69.2% and 23.1%, respectively. Water temperature and turbidity of the seawaber measured were higher in the pathogenic vibrios positive samples than in those negative samples. However, higher salinity and pH were shown in the pathogenic vibrios negative samples than in positive samples. The aerobic plate counts and MPN of total and fecal coliforms in the seawater were higher in the presence of pathogenic vibrios than in the absence of pathogenic vibrios. In this study, the presence of pathogenic vibrios in the seawater tested was closely related with other physiochemical parameters and populations of coliforms, indicators for food safety.

        In this study, the bathymetric data acquired from 2018 to 2020 and the precipitation and suspended sediment data were analyzed for changes in bathymetry owing to the discharge from the Nakdong River barrier and environmental factors, especially the torrential rain in 2020. Sediment erosion and deposition processes are repeated because of complex environmental factors such as discharge from the Nakdong River barrier and the influence of waves generated from the external sea. In the first half of the year after the dry season, bathymetric data showed relative erosion trends, whereas in the second half after the flood season, deposition trends were identified owing to the increase in sediment transport. However, the data from the second half of 2020 showed a large amount of erosion, resulting in tendencies different to those of erosion in the first half and deposition in the second half of the year. This result is judged to be influenced by the weather in the summer of 2020. The torrential rain in the summer of 2020 resulted in a higher force of erosion than that of deposition. In summary, the tendency for erosion is more significant than that of sedimentation, especially in the main channel area of the Nakdong River.

        This study was initiated to isolate the microorganisms removing phosphorus (P) from domestic sewage and to investigate the effects of environmental factors on the growth and P removal of the isolated bacteria. Microorganisms isolated from the sewage were identified as Chryseobacterium sp., Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, and Bacillus licheniformis. Among them, Bacillus licheniformis was selected as the P removal microorganism. The environmental factors considered in this study included initial phosphorus concentration, temperature, pH, and carbon source. At initial P concentrations of 10, 20, and 30 mg/L, the P removal efficiencies were 100.0%, 84.0%, and 16.5%, respectively. At 20°C, 30°C, and 40°C, the P removal efficiencies were 0%, 75.8%, and 60.6%, respectively. The removal efficiencies of phosphorus according to pH were 1.6%, 91.7%, and 51.1% at pH 5, pH 7, and pH 9, respectively. Using glucose, acetate, and glucose + acetate as carbon sources yielded P removal efficiencies of 80.9%, 33.6%, and 54.1%, respectively. Therefore, the results from the study demonstrated that the P removal efficiencies of Bacillus licheniformis were the highest when the initial P concentration, temperature, pH, and carbon source were 10 mg/L, 30°C, 7, and glucose, respectively.

        Algal blooming in 4 major rivers introduces substantial impacts to water front activity. Concentrations of algae are increasing at major points along the Geum River. Ecosystem food webs can be affected by algal blooming because blue-green algae release toxic materials. Even though there have been many studies on blue-green algae, its causality to environmental factors has not been completely determined yet. This study analyzed the exclusive correlation between various hydrometeorological, water quality, and hydrologic variables and the cell number of cyanobacteria to understand causality of blue-green algae in the Geum River. A prewhitening process was introduced to remove the autocorrelation structure and periodicity, which is useful to evaluate the effective relationship between two time series.

        This study evaluated the lateral thermal deformation induced by environmental factors for a precast I-girder. Lateral temperature gradients across the cross-section of the girder were calculated using analytical equations based on daily solar radiation, temperature variation, and wind speed. Then the lateral thermal deformation showed an average of approximately 40% to 71% of the tolerance for the initial lateral deformation of the girder, defined in the PCI bridge design standard.

        As concerns have been raised about health effects of children's products containing hazardous chemicals on children, the Korea Ministry of Environment announced 135 environmental hazardous substances in children’s products (EHSCP) which were subject to risk assessment. Therefore, it is necessary to identify the current status of EHSCP for management due to their various exposure routes and types. In this study, we investigated the exposure assessment of EHSCP as well as relevant policies implemented in domestic and foreign countries. Domestic and foreign cases of detection of EHSCP were reviewed in the literature and websites of related agencies. Due to the lack of reference values for child-specific toxicity of EHSCP, those for adults and regulatory status of EHSCP were also investigated and reviewed with literature. The related agencies of foreign countries provided 13 child-specific reference doses (RfDs), 76 RfDs, and 42 reference concentrations as toxicity reference values of the EHSCP. Among substances investigated in the studies to assess exposure of hazardous substances in children’s products by the Korea Ministry of Environment, 23 substances were included in 135 EHSCP. The same studies identified 9 substances which were excluded from the 135 EHSCP. For regulatory status for hazardous substances in children’s products, 44 substances (32.6 %) and 84 substances (62.2 %) of 135 EHSCP were under regulation in Korea and foreign countries, respectively. In the present study, we found that a list of 135 EHSCP should be revised to ensure children’s safety.

        With the incorporation of hydrogen peroxide(H2O2) and NaLS as an initiator and emulsifier, acrylic acid monomer was graft copolymerized with sodium alginate prepared from alginic acid, and then the grafted copolymer was confirmed through IR spectrometer. When the amounts of acrylic acid increased the grafting also showed increasing trend. While the contents of hydrogen peroxide was varied in the aqueous sodium alginate solution, the grafting efficiency decreased gradually as the amounts of initiator increased.

        FRP 재료는 높은 부식저항성과 강도에도 불구하고 지난 20여년 동안 심각한 환경적 노출에 의한 재료의 성능저하에 대한 문제가 제기되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 섬유와 수지로 구성된 이질재료인 FRP보강근이 온도와 화학적 노출을 복합적으로 받는 경우에 대하여 실험적으로 분석하였다. 각기 다른 형상으로 제작된 탄소, 유리 및 하이브리드 FRP 보강근 5종류에 대하여 중량변화, 계면전단강도(ILSS), SEM 및 FT-IR분석을 수행하였으며, 모든 FRP 실험편은 최대 150일까지 알칼리 용액과 증류수에 침지시킨 다음 60, 100, 150 및 300도의 온도에서 30분동안 노출하였다. 실험결과, 또한 FRP 보강근의 성능저하는 섬유의 종류뿐 아니라 수지의 종류와 제조과정에 따라 영향을 받는 것으로 관찰되었다. 침지 초기에는 ILSS 강도가 약간 증가한 후 시간경과에 따라 강도가 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 알칼리 용액과 증류수 용액에 의해 손상을 받은 ILSS의 차이는 무시할 수 있는 수준인 것으로 관찰되었다.

        천연집단에 서식하는 개비자나무 개체들을 이용해 무생물 및 생물적 환경인자가homoharringtonine(HHT) 함량에 미치는 영향을 조사하여 향후 항암제 가능성이 있는 HHT의 고부가가치 산업적인 생산이 기대되는 연구에 기초자료를 제공하고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. 무생물적 환경인자(토양습도, 토양pH, 서식밀도, 기온)와 HHT 함량과의 상관관계에 있어 HHT 는 토양습도(0.77)와 토양pH(-0.68)에서 높은 상관을 보였다. 고도에 따른 무생물적 환경인자 (토양습도, 토양pH)와 HHT 의 함량 관계에 관해 다중회귀 분석을 실시한 결과, 토양 습도의 회귀계수(26.48***) 만 유의하여 토양 습도가 상대적으로 HHT 함량에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 생물적 환경인자(damage index)에 따른 HHT 함량에 미치는 영향을 살펴 본 결과, HHT는 2차곡선회귀적으로 증가하다 감소하는(H=278.23+1242D-398.87D2) 경향을 보였고 damage index는 HHT 함량에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 마지막으로 HHT 의 함량에 영향을 미치는 최적환경인자를 분석한 결과, damage index와 토양 습도 모두가 2차다항회귀식으로 가장 적합하였고 결정계수는 각각 0.73와 0.67로 damage index가 상대적으로 HHT 함량에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 섭식자 또는 균류와 같은 스트레스로 인한 방어기작이 HHT 의 생성에 높은 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.

        The most important factors relating to the indoor air environment are temperature, airflow, humidity, and contaminant concentration. A sensitivity analysis of indoor environment factors was carried out to grasp influences along with changes of atmospheric conditions. An integrated multizone model was used to predict these sensitivities. This model was applied to an apartment with six zones. Airflow rates are influenced very seriously by changes of wind direct or wind velocity, but are influenced very slightly by changes of outdoor air temperature and are not influenced at all by changes of outdoor air humidity or contaminant concentration. Indoor air temperatures are influenced very directly by changes of outdoor air temperature, but are influenced very slightly by wind direction or wind velocity and are not influenced at all by changes of outdoor air humidity or contaminant concentration. Indoor air humidities are influenced very directly by changes of outdoor air humidity, but are not influenced at all by changes of outdoor air contaminant concentration and have little or no influence by changes of wind direction, wind velocity, or outdoor air temperature. Indoor air contaminant concentrations are influenced very seriously by changes of wind direct or wind velocity, but are influenced somewhat by changes of outdoor air contaminant concentration and are influenced very slightly by changes of outdoor air temperature and are not influenced at all by changes of outdoor air humidity.

        This study was conducted to develop the effects of site environmental factors on estimation of site index function for Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher stands. We derived nonlinear growth equation and the draw site index curves by applying this estimated equation. This study with Chapman-Richards function showed significant P-value which was less then 0.0001 and R2 value 0.5947. This study was conducted to develop the feasible site index equation of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher. For the table, the data of 82 sample areas that were thought to be without errors among the data of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher sample area located on the value-oriented forest location chart were used and estimated. After analyzing the quantification method I based on 13 environmental factors to develop the score table for the site-index estimation of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher, R2 value of the model was 0.7555. It has been analyzed that the scope value of Soil moisture in horizon A was 7.5045, that of total soil depth was 6.3896, that of topography was 5.3471, that of slope was 4.7000 and that of aspect was 3.2038. After analyzing the partial correlation to examine the factors that affected most the site-index of Chamaecyparis obtusa Endlicher, it has been noted that the partial correlation of climatic zone was 0.4987, which was highest, and it was followed by Soil moisture in horizon A (0.4592), slope (0.4537), topography (0.3299) and total soil depth (0.1035). As a result of conducting the significance test for partial correlation, it has been found that topography, climatic zone, parent rock, slope, altitude, aspect, Soil moisture in horizon A, soil hardness in horizon A and total soil depth were recognized significant with 1% of significance level and sedimentary type and soil texture in horizon A were recognized significant with 5% of significance level.

        With the help of mechanical mixing method such as Banbury mixer and open 2 roll mill, ethylene propylene diene terpolymer (EPDM) was blended with the chloroprene rubber (CR) then mechanical properties and ozone resistance test of blends were subsequently investigated. It was noted that the hardness increased with an increasing of CR contents. Generally the hardness was increased with heat aging time most likely due to the post cure. In ozone resistance test of blend, after 8 hours a portion of fine crack is obtained for pure CR. It is confirmed that ozone resistance is greatly improved by addition of 25wt% EPDM to CR.
