        우리나라의 고유한 향신료로 활용되고 있는 소엽의 휘발성 향기성분 분석에 적합한 solid phase microextraction(SPME) fiber를 선정하기 위하여 carboxen/polydimethylsiloxane(CAR/PDMS)과 polydimethylsiloxane(PDMS)의 2종류 fiber를 이용하여 향을 추출한 후 GC/MS로 분석하였다. CAR/PDMS fber에 소엽의 향을 흡착시켜 분석한 결과, 39종의 성분이 확인되었으며, PDMS fiber를 이용하였을 때는 20가지의 향기성분이 확인되었다. 특히 PDMS fiber를 사용하였을 때 CAR/PDMS fber를 이용하였을 때 보다 perillaldehyde (40.50%), limonene (27.32%), E,E-,α-famesene (10.22%) 및 β-caryophyllene (8.02%)의 소엽의 주요 향기성분이 선택적으로 많이 확인되었다. 따라서 방향성 식용식물인 소엽의 향기를 SPME법으로 추출할 때는 PDMS fiber가 적합하다고 판단된다.

        The beeswax sample was collected from the beehives, isolated and then refined. The first step of producing beeswax was to separate honey from beehives. The beehives which were cut put in hot water. The upper layer was crude beeswax, which was treated with phosphoric acid. The crude beeswax was purified through the bleaching. The objectives of this study are to identify headspace volatile compounds and to know the contents of α-carotenes and β-carotenes of korean beeswax. Headspace volatile compounds of Korean beeswax were measured by using the combination of dynamic headspace sampler (DS 5000, Donam System Inc.), gas chromatography and mass selective detector (HP5890 & 5971, Hewlett Packard). Seventy five compounds identified from about 100 peaks by analyzing the purified beeswax were 60 hydrocarbons, 8 carbonyls, 4 essential oils, 3 esters. Carotenes of Korean beeswax were analyzed by using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (Waters Inc.). As A result, the content of α-carotenes and β-carotenes were 0.07ppm, 0.011ppm individually.

        Porous asymmetric membranes were prepared from polyetherimide polymer by the phase-inversion technique under different conditions. The performance of the membranes was tested for the removal of acetone vapour from nitrogen. A membrane which showed a high acetone permeability and a high selectivity was chosen and tested further for the separation of different organic vapours from nitrogen. The molecular structure of organic vapours and the selectivity were correlated. A strong correlation was also found between the chromatographic retention time of the organic vapour and the selectivity. These experimental results led to the conclusion that the sorption is the factor governing the separation of volatile organic compounds from nitrogen. A membrane was also prepared by coating the surface of a porous polyetherimide membrane with silicone rubber. The performance of membranes with and without silicone rubber coating was compared.

        솔잎의 향기성분을 용매분획과 수증기증류법으로 분석한 결과는 다음과 같다. 솔잎을 hexane, ethyl acetate 및 ethanol로 연속적으로 추출하였을 때, 29종의 향기성분이 분리, 확인되었고, 주요 성분은 hydrocarbon이었다. hexane 추출에 의한 솔잎의 주요 향기성분은 α-pinene, β-thujene, trans-caryophyllene, β-cubebene 순으로 높게 나타났다. 솔잎을 hexane으로 추출한 잔사에 ethyl acetate를 가하여 향기 성분을 분석하였을 경우 추출된 향기성분은 α-cubebene, 3,6,9,12,15-petaoxanonadecan-1-ol, camphene, 순으로 높았고, 솔잎을 hexane 및 ethyl cetate로 추출한 잔사에 ethanol을 가하여 분석한 경우는 β-D4-tetrahydropyran, γ-cadinene, 3-ethyl-1,4-hexadiene, α-cubebene등이 주성분이었다. 솔잎을 수증기 증류하여 향기성분을 분석한 결과 44종의 성분이 분리, 확인되었고, hydrocarbon류가 주성분이었다. β-cubebene, trans-caryophyllene, 2-hexenal, T-muurolol, δ-cadinene 순이었다. 수증기 증류법에 의한 방법으로 추출 하였을 때 용매분획 추출시 보다 더 많은 성분이 검색되었고, 용매분획에 따라 추출되는 향기성분의 함량과 조성은 차이가 있었으며, 추출방법에 따라서도 향 기성분의 조성비가 다르게 나타났다.

        전통안동식혜를 제조하여 5℃에서 보관하면서 GC와 GC-MS를 이용하여 향기성분의 원인 물질을 분석, 동정하였고 맛성분의 원인물질인 유기산의 변화를 검토하였다. 안동식혜의 주요 향기성분으로는 camphene, sabinene, 1-(1.5-dimethyl-4-hexyl)-4-methyl-benzene, α-zingibirene, farnesene, 2.6-b is-(1.1-dimethylethyl)-4-methyl-phenol, β-sesquiphellandrene, calalene, tetradecanoic acid, hexadecanoic acid 및 9.12-octadecanoic acid 등을 들 수 있었다. 안동식혜의 숙성 및 저장중에 있어서 생성된 향기성분은 2.4-undecadienal, 1H-indole, 2.4-decadienal, isoterpinolene 및 D-nerdiol 5종류이었다. 비휘발성 유기산 함량의 변화를 보면 저장 초기에는 젖산 0.49 mg/100 g이던 것이 19.37 mg/100 g으로 증가하였고 다른 유기산들의 함량 변화는 거의 없었다. 안동식혜의 숙성 및 저장 기간중의 pH의 변화는 차차 감소하였고 산도는 차차 증가하여 저장 6일째 0.41이었다.

        In this study, we investigated the characteristics of Volatile Organic Compounds(VOCs) emission from painting and printing facilities in the Pyeongdong industrial complex in Gwangju. In addition, the objective was to understand the distribution characteristics of VOCs in the ambient air in industrial complexes affected by painting and printing facilities. The painting facility mainly emitted toluene, acetone, butyl acetate, 4-methyl-2-pentanone, ethyl acetate, 1-butanol, methyl ethyl ketone, m,p-xylene, o-xylene, 4-ethyltoluene, ethylbenzene, 3-ethyltoluene, and 1,2,4-trimethylbenzene. The main emission components in printing facilities were methyl ketone, ethyl acetate, acetone, 2-propanol, toluene, heptane, and butyl acetate. Ethyl acetate, toluene, 2-butanone, acetone, butyl acetate, 2-propanol, xylenes, and 4-methyl-2-pentanone were detected in the ambient air of the Pyeongdong industrial complex, consistent with the VOCs emitted by painting and printing facilities. The average concentration of seasonal TVOCs followed an order of winter > fall > spring > summer, whereas the concentrations of daytime and nighttime TVOCs were generally higher at night than those during the day, and the wind speed was greater during the day than it was at night. Based on a factor analysis of VOCs in the ambient air of Pyeongdong industrial complex, it is considered that organic solvents used in coating, printing, and electronics manufacturing facilities, as well as diesel vehicle emissions played a major role.

        The aim of this study was to investigate the amount (i.e., retention volume) and chemical composition of Natural volatile organic compounds (NVOCs) across different sites in a temperate forest. The three forest sites that were considered include riparian zones (site 1), streams (site 2), and densely-canopied areas (site 3). From May to October 2021, a mini pump was used to measure the collected NVOCs. These measurements were conducted once a month, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am; these times encompass peak visitation times. In the tree layers of the site 1 and 2, Quercus acuta was dominant, whereas Camellia japonica dominated their subtree layers. On the other hand, the tree layer of site 3 was dominated by Castanopsis sieboldii, whereas Camellia japonica dominated its subtree layer. The retention volume and chemical composition of NVOCs was as follows: benzaldehyde (107.528ppm), α-pinene (37.868ppm), linalool (16.258ppm), eucalyptol (14.818ppm), and sabinene hydrate (14.679ppm). In particular, the retention volume of benzaldehyde decreased as temperature increased. In contrast, the retention volume of α-pinene increased as the temperature increased. The differences in forest topography across the studies sites were in the following order: riparian area> forest area> stream area.

        This study investigates the concentration distribution of aldehydes and volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the archive of the National Library in Korea and evaluates the health risks to workers from hazardous chemicals. Acetaldehyde had the highest concentration among the nine species of aldehydes present in the archive and the concentration of toluene was the highest among the six species of VOCs. Most of the detected substances showed that their indoor concentrations were higher than the outdoor ones, suggesting the possibility of indoor sources of aldehydes and VOCs. The evaluation of health risks for workers based on these measurement results showed that not all substances were hazardous to the human body. However, considering the possibility of the presence of indoor sources and the potential limits of our study owing its short period, it is necessary to conduct long-term studies on the concentration distribution of indoor pollutants in the archive environment.

        This study was conducted to compare the volatile flavor compounds of Artemisia annua L. after extraction by simultaneous steam distillation extraction (SDE) and solid-phase micro extraction (SPME) followed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Via SDE and SPME processes, 79 (1,254.00 mg/kg) and 39 (488.74 mg/kg) compounds were identified respectively. The compounds extracted by SDE included 27 alcohols, 13 aldehydes, 22 hydrocarbons, 3 esters, 12 ketones, 1 oxide and 1 N-containing compound, on the other hand, using the SPME method, 7 alcohols, 5 aldehydes, 1 ester, 18 hydrocarbons, 7 ketones, and 1 oxide were extracted. The major volatile flavor compounds of Artemisia annua L. isolated by the two methods were caryophyllene oxide, -caryophyllene, camphor, -selinene, -muurolene, 1,8-cineol, (E)-pinocarveol and pinocarvone. β β γ The sesquiterpene named caryophyllene oxide was the most abundant volatile flavor compound with relative contents of 234.16 mg/kg and 195.44 mg/kg obtained by the SDE and SPME methods, respectively. Among the identified volatiles, sabinene, β-pinene, α-terpinene, γ-terpinene, yomogi alcohol, myrtenol, (Z)-nerolidol, p-cymen-8-ol and eugenol were detected by the SDE method only while (E)-anethole and α-cubebene were detected by the SPME method only. This study confirmed that the composition and contents of the volatile flavor compounds vary between different extraction methods. More volatile flavor compounds were identified using the SDE method than the SPME method.

        휘발성 유기화합물(VOCs)은 유기용매를 주로 사용하는 산업공정에서 배출되는 일반적인 대기오염물질 중 하나로 그 물질 자체가 독성 및 발암성을 지니기도 하고 오존 생성의 전구체로 작용하기도 하여 인체 건강과 환경에 부정적인 영향을 주고 있다. 또한 최근 초미세먼지 2차생성에 기여하고 있음이 알려짐에 따라 VOCs 저감에 대한 국제적인 관심은 더욱 높아지고 있는 실정이다. 중소규모 사업장에서는 VOCs 처리를 위해 주로 활성탄 흡착탑을 이용하고 있으며 활성탄의 짧은 파과점으로 일정기간 사용 후 교체가 필요하지만, 교체 비용 부담에 따른 적절한 유지관리가 미흡하여 VOCs가 직접 대기로 방출되는 문제가 발생되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 활성탄 파과 후 현장에서 재생이 가능한 흡탈착 공정에 대하여 연구를 수행하였다. 기존 재생 공정인 열탈착(TSA) 공정은 에너지 비용이 많이 소요되며 수분 또는 고온 가스를 사용해야하므로 재생 시간이 길고 부대시설이 필요한 단점이 있어 현장에서 흡착 후 직접 재생하기에는 다소 무리가 따른다. 저온 감압탈착(VSA) 공정은 상대적으로 저온(80∼90℃)에서 진공펌프를 이용하여 탈착하는 방식으로 감압시에 VOCs가 휘발하는 온도가 낮아지므로 상대적으로 낮은 온도에서 탈착이 가능하다. 이에 따라 현장에서 자체재생 가능한 탈착 방법으로 저온 VSA 기술을 적용하였으며, 30 CMM급 흡탈착 시스템을 제작하여 실제 도장 공장의 배출가스에 대한 현장 적용성 연구를 수행하였다. 또한 저온 VSA 공정을 통해 배출되는 탈착가스는 재생시 캐리어가스 유량이 상대적으로 적어 고농도로 배출되므로 회수하여 유기용매로 재활용할 경우 원료 절감에 따른 경제적 효과가 매우 크다. 따라서 VOCs를 회수하기 위한 방법으로 기액 접촉 효율이 높은 용매 직접접촉식 응축 방식을 적용하였으며, 30 LPM 직접접촉식 회수장치를 제작하고 실 탈착가스를 이용한 회수실험을 수행함으로써 본 기술에 대한 현장 적용 가능성에 대하여 평가해보고자 하였다.

        The study compared the juice and wine odorants of the Cheongsoo grape cultivar with those of Chardonnay and Reisling wines. The volatile compounds of the three grape varieties were analyzed using headspace solid-phase microextraction coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The most common volatile compounds in the juices from the three cultivars were terpenes, C13-norisoprenoids, etones, alcohols, and aldehydes. Terpenes were established as the most abundant group of volatiles in Cheongsoo grape juice, where as aldehydes predominated in Chardonnay and Riesling juices. Forty-two volatile compounds (acids, alcohols, esters, and others) were detected in the three white wines. The concentration of esters was about four times higher in Cheongsoo wine than in Chardonnay and Riesling wines. Five esters found in the Cheongsoo wine, namely, isoamyl acetate, ethyl butanoate, ethyl hexanoate, ethyl octanoate, and ethyl decanoate, exhibited high odor activity values (OAV) of >1. Furthermore, only Cheongsoo wine had a high OAV for isoamyl acetate odorant, which is associated with banana and sweet aromas. Therefore, the abundant and varied esters are believed to be key volatile fruity/sweet odorants in Cheongsoo wine.

        This study was conducted to confirm the usefulness of essential oil components in yuzu and kumquat cultivated in Korea for comparison with those in lemon and lime. The volatile flavor compounds in citrus fruits (yuzu, kumquat, lemon and lime) were extracted for 3 h with 100 mL redistilled n-pentane/diethylether (1:1, v/v) mixture, using a simultaneous steam distillation and extraction apparatus (SDE). The volatile flavor compositions of the samples were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The aroma compounds analyzed were 104 (3,713.02 mg/kg) in yuzu, 87 (621.71 mg/kg) in kumquat 103 (3,024.69 mg/kg) in lemon and 106 (2,209.16 mg/kg) in lime. Limonene was a major volatile flavor compound in four citrus fruits. The peak area of limonene was 35.03% in yuzu, 63.82% in kumquat, 40.35% in lemon, and 25.06% in lime. In addition to limonene, the major volatile flavor compounds were γ-terpinene, linalool, β-myrcene, (E)-β-farnesene, α-pinene and β-pinene in yuzu, and β-myrcene, α-pinene, (Z)-limonene oxide, (E)-limonene oxide, geranyl acetate and limonen-10-yl acetate in kumquat. Furthermore, γ-terpinene, β-pinene, β-myrcene, geranyl acetate, neryl acetate and (Z)-β-bisabolene in lemon and γ-terpinene, β-pinene, (Z)-β-bisabolene, neral, geranial and neryl acetate in lime were also detected. As a result, it was confirmed that the composition of volatile flavor compounds in four citrus fruits was different. Also, yuzu and kumquat are judged to be worthy of use alternatives for lemon and lime widely used in the fragrance industry.

        Background : Cynanchum wilfordii and Cynanchum auriculatum belong to the Asclepiadaceae family and appear morphologically similar. In order to discriminate them, it is needed to find the presence of sap and the leaf shapes: C. auriculatum has a blade ovate leaf comparing to C. wilfordii. However, in the herbal medicine market, they have been handled as cut and dried roots. Due to their similar morphology, it is limited to distinguish the roots of C. wilfordii and C. auriculatum. Recently in Korea, it has been a critical issue to misuse these two roots in the herbal market and food industry. Thus, it is required to establish a robust tool for the discrimination and quality control of them. Methods and Results : To separation and characterization of flavor compounds, C. wilfordii and C. auriculatum samples were analyzed by head space solid phase micro extraction (HSS) fiber coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry using Rtx-5MS (30 m x 0.25 mm x 0.25 μm) column. As a result, We have identified compounds of a few hundred in aliphatic aldehydes and aliphatic alcohols, alkenes and acids, aromatic compounds, aromatic compounds containing nitrogen & sulfur, etc,. In particular, The aliphatic and aromatic compounds had been clearly separated on the second dimensional direction by using two-dimensional GC. Conclusion : The volatile flavor compounds of C. wilfordii and C. auriculatum could easily analyzed without pre-treatment with improved resolution and sensitivity using HSS-GCxGC-TOFMS. We have identified compounds of a few hundred in C. wilfordii and C. auriculatum sample. And It was more accurately qualitative confirmed with separation of GCxGC and TSD. We have confirmed the PCA and PLS-DA Plot that was classified depending on C. wilfordii and C. auriculatum through multivariate statistical analysis of the identified flavor compounds.

        In order to prepare the information needed to construct a reduction system for volatile organic compounds (VOCs) exhausted from ship-block paint-booths in a giant shipyard, VOCs in paint-shop airs were analyzed and compared to the components in paint thinners. Aromatic hydrocarbons containing eight and nine carbon atoms are known to be major VOC compounds found in shipyard paint-shops. The total hydrocarbon (THC(C7)) concentrations calibrated using toluene gas, were measured in block paint-shops with two photo-ionization detector (PID) meters, and the resulting THC(C7) data were converted to THC(C1) concentrations according to the Standard Methods for the Measurements of Air Pollution in South Korea. THC(C1) concentrations near the spray site ranged from 10 to 2,000 ppm, but they were less than 400 ppm near the walls of the paint-booth. The measurements of THC concentrations, based on the height of the monitoring sites, were related to the height of the target to which the spray paints were applied. The maximum concentrations occurred at almost the same height as the spray targets. When painted blocks had been dried-by warming with no spraying, the THC concentrations were 80~100 ppm.

        본 연구는 과열증기처리 기술을 양파에 적용하여 불쾌취 를 저감화하고, 이를 통해 고품질 양파 가공품 개발 및 소재 화에 활용하기 위한 기초 자료를 확보하고자 과열증기처리 에 따른 양파의 휘발성 물질, 불쾌취 유발 물질과 항산화활 성, 조직감, 관능적 특성 등 품질특성을 분석하였다. 과열증 기처리에 의해 휘발성 향기성분 및 불쾌취와 매운맛의 지표 물질이 저감화됨을 확인하였다. 항산화활성 및 총 페놀성 화합물 함량은 다소 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, hardness, chewiness 등은 확연하게 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 양파 추출액의 총 가용성 고형분 함량은 처리에 의해 전체적으로 증가하였으며 처리에 따라 기호도 점수가 높아지는것을 확인하였다. 결과적으로 과열증기 처리가 양파의 불쾌취 저감화에 효과적임을 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구결과는 과 열증기 기술을 적용한 양파의 불쾌취 저감화 및 이를 통한 다양한 고품질 가공품 개발 및 소재화를 위한 중요한 기초 자료로 활용될 수 있으리라 판단되며, 과열증기오븐 처리 를 통해 불쾌취를 조절함과 동시에 생리활성능을 지니는 향기 성분 및 유용성분의 감소는 최소화하는 추가적인 연구 가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

        In present study, the temporal characteristics of nine selected volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including four alcohol, 2 aldehyde, and 3 ketone compounds, in high-stories urban apartments over a 2-y period were investigated. The indoor VOC concentrations had generally a decreasing trend over the 2-y follow-up period. For examples, the 2E1H indoor concentration decreased from 10.8 ㎍/m3 for the first two months to 5.1 ㎍/m3 for the last two months. In addition, the DCA and ACT indoor concentrations decreased from 5.0 and 14 ㎍/m3 for the first two months to 2.2 and 6.4 ㎍/m3, respectively, for the last two months. The indoor-to outdoor concentration ratios over the 2-y period were much greater than 1, indicating that indoor VOC concentrations were higher than the outdoor VOC concentrations. Similar to those of the individual VOCs, the indoorto- outdoor concentration ratios of all three VOC groups were higher than 1 over the 2-y follow-up period, suggesting higher indoor concentrations of the three VOC groups than outdoor concentrations. In consistence with the results of VOC indoor concentrations, the VOC emission rates decreased gradually as time passed, due to the decreased VOC emission strengths of indoor sources. Finally, there was an initial sharp decrease in the indoor VOC concentrations followed by a slower decrease, indicating a multi-exponential decay model for the target VOCs, which was demonstrated by comparison of the residuals and the adjusted coefficient of determination associated with the one and two-exponential fits of each data set.
