        This study was conducted to evaluate roughage to concentrate ratio on the changes of productivity and metabolic profiling in milk. Six lactating Holstein cows were divided into two groups, T1 group was fed low-concentrate diet (Italian ryegrass to concentrate ratio = 8:2) and T2 group was fed high-concentrate diet (Italian ryegrass to concentrate ratio = 2:8). Milk samples were collected and its components and metabolites were analyzed by 1H-NMR (Nuclear magnetic resonance). The result of milk components such as milk fat, milk protein, solids-not-fat, lactose and somatic cell count were not significantly different between two groups. In carbohydrate metabolites, trehalose and xylose were significantly higher (P<0.05) in T1 group, however lactose was not significantly different between two groups. In amino acid metabolites, glycine was the highest concentration however, there was no signifi-cant difference observed between two groups. Urea and methionine were significantly higher (P<0.05) in the T2 group. In lipid metabolites, carnitine, choline and O-acetylcarnitine there were no significant difference observed between the two groups. In benzoic acid metabolites, tartrate was significantly higher (P<0.05) in T2 group. In organic acid metabolites, acetate was significantly higher (P<0.05) in T1 group and fumarate was significantly higher (P<0.05) in T2 group. In the other metabolites, 3-methylxanthine was only significantly higher (P<0.05) in T2 group and riboflavin was only significantly higher (P<0.05) in T1 group. As a result, milk components were not significantly different between two groups. However, metabolites concentration in the milk was significantly different depends on roughage to concentrate ratio.

        The study was initiated to compare crop productivity as affected by a long-term application with homemade liquid fertilizers in leading organic cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) farms in Suncheon and Kimcheon provinces. A Suncheon farm have applied an EM (effective organism) liquid fertilizer for one year and fifteen years, designating as EM 1-year and EM 15-year plots, respectively, with 4-year and 5-year application of native microbes-liquid fertilizer in Kimcheon farm, designating as Micro 4-year and Micro 5-year plots, respectively. pH in the EM-liquid fertilizer was high to approximately 7.7, and EC in the Micro-liquid fertilizer was 0.1 dS/m higher than those of EM-liquid fertilizer, with similar macro-nutrient concentrations observed in the both liquid fertilizers. Soil EC was the highest to the 10.0 dS/m for the liquid fertilizer with EM 1-year and showed less than 1.5 dS/m for other liquid fertilizer plots. Micro-liquid fertilizer plots had soil OM contents less than 20 g/kg, which was approximately two times less than those of EM plots. Soil microbial properties were not significantly different among the liquid fertilizer plots. SPAD and PS II values were significantly increased by EM 15-year plots with high levels of soil OM and EC. Liquid fertilizer plot with EM 1-year had high concentrations of T-N, Ca, and Na in the cucumber crops but low concentrations of P and Mg, in particular for low K of 1.2% which was two times less than those of desired level for an optimum cucumber growth. The lowest fruit yield was observed for the liquid fertilizer plot with EM 1-year with the highest soil EC accumulated. Liquid fertilizer plot with EM 15-year produced the expanded volume of crop canopy and increased fruit yield. Therefore, long-term of continuous application with an organic liquid fertilizer would have sustainably improved soil stability and the crop productivity.

        This study was investigated the effect of immature rhizome production according to harvest times-based treatment method for seed production of Gastrodia elata. The results revealed that when the tuber weight of G. elata harvested in spring (GEHS) was ≥ 100 g, the rate of artificial fertilization, protocorm formation, and immature rhizome formation was 90.9%–94.8%, 3.1%–5.4%, and 10.1%–15.3%, respectively. When G. elata harvested in fall (GEHF) was treated at a low temperature for 4 weeks or more, the rate of artificial fertilization, protocorm formation, and immature rhizome formation was 70.4%–87.6%, 2.2%–2.6%, 8.7%–9.5%, respectively. Therefore, to produce seeds and immature rhizomes, GEHS must have tubers of more than 100 g, whereas GEHF requires breaking dormancy by low-temperature treatment for 4 weeks or more. Compared with those of GEHS, the rate of artificial fertilization, protocorm formation, and immature rhizome formation was lower in GEHF; however, it was higher than those in the natural germination state. Thus, it can be expected that G. elata can be produced throughout the year by ensuring that the seeds and immature rhizomes of G. elata are produced using a constant tuber weight and by breaking dormancy with low temperature treatment.

        Light is an essential and powerful element to animals. A light-emitting diode (LED) is most efficient in terms of economic benefits. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of LED lighting time on milk production, milk composition, and the immune response of Holstein cows. Forty lactating cows were assigned to four experimental groups: control; natural daylight, treatment; am3-6, pm6-12 and pm6-am6. We found that there was no significant effect on the decrease ratio in milk production among the groups. Milk urea nitrogen (MUN) was significantly decreased in pm6-am6 and pm6-12 than the control. With regard to the hemolytic biochemical analysis, GLU was significantly increased and CRE, T-BIL were significantly decreased in the pm6-12 than the control. IGF-1 levels were significantly increased in pm6-12 compared to other groups. Besides, cortisol was significantly lowered in the pm6-12 than the control, while prolactin, IgA and IgG were not significant among the groups. In addition, catalase and glutathione peroxidase were also significantly increased in pm6-12 than the control. However, antioxidant enzyme activity and superoxide dismutase were not significant among the experimental groups. Therefore, it was concluded that LED lighting time had some impact on blood parameters and immune responses in dairy cows without any changes in milk production.

        Paddy-upland rotation system is one of the important cropping system for improving soil quality and crop productivity. we conducted to investigate the effect of paddy-upland rotation system on soil properties and crop productivity in reclaimed tidal land. The paddy-upland rotation could be effective to conserve soil water contents and prevent from salt damage when cultivating upland crops. The first two years of maize cultivation after rice cultivation could be effective to secure stable production. However, in case of soybean crop, the rotation effect might be lower than that of maize. In the first year, the yield of soybean was 214 kg/10a. In the second and third year, the yields of soybean decreased consecutively to 152, 123 kg/10a respectively. In this paper, it would be suggested that maize be cultivated for up to two years and soybean be cultivated for one year after rice crop grown in reclaimed tidal land. This study could be provide basic data of the physico-chemical properties applicable to paddy-upland rotation system at reclaimed tidal lands.

        화석 연료 사용량 증가로 야기되는 지구 온난화를 비롯한 여러 환경문제와 자원 고갈로 인해 화석 연료를 대체 할 수 있는 연료원이 요구되고 있다. 이에 동식물성 기름으로부터 추출한 바이오디젤은 재생 가능한 연료로 주목을 받았으나 여러 한계를 보였고, 단위면적당 높은 에너지 수율과 빠른 성장속도 및 친환경적 특징을 겸비한 미세조류가 3세대 바이오디젤의 원료로 주목받고 있다. 본 연구는 독립영양과 혼합영양을 가능하게 하는 광 조건이 바이오매스 축적 지질의 지방산 특성 변화와 상관관계를 도출하여 바이오디젤 생산성 향상 방안을 고찰하였다. 본 실험에서 배양한 미세조류는 지질 축적능력이 우수한 Botryococcus braunii 종을 명암주기를 조절하여 광영양 및 혼합영양 조건으로 배양하였고, 회수한 바이오매스를 fatty acid methyl ester (FAME)형태로 지질을 추출하여 FAME 구성 성분과 FAME 수율을 비교 평가하였다. 실험결과는 독립영양과 혼합영양에 상관없이 C16, C18, C20 지방산이 주요 FAME의 구성 성분으로 밝혀져 바이오디젤로써 이용 가능성이 충분함을 확인하였다. 광영양 조건에서 전체 지질의 61.1%가 FAME 형태로 추출되었고 구성성분 중 C16, C18, C20 지방산의 함량이 각각 52.3%를 차지하였으며, FAME 수율(g FAME/g biomass)은 2.4%로 도출되었다. 혼합영양 조건에서 74.3%의 FAME이 추출되었고 C16, C18, C20 지방산의 함량은 73.9%를 차지하였으며, FAME yield는 3.1%로 도출되었다. 이 결과는 폐수로부터 수확한 미세조류 바이오매스가 대체 연료원으로 이용가치가 높음을 보여준다.

        Background : For ginseng breed development, mostly the pure-line separation method that registers excellent varieties after performing the regional adaptation test with the varieties selected through the preliminary and main productivity tests on selected excellent individuals cultivated in farms or excellent lineages for growing from collected lineages is used. Recently, the quality of ginseng is degrading while the yield decreases by 15 - 20% due to the high-temperature injury, the physiological disorder and/or the diseases caused by the climate warming so that development of disaster tolerant varieties strong against high temperatures, salts and diseases are demanded. For such reason, three lineages showing excellent overground and underground growing were selected from the gene resources collected from 1997 to 2000. And the productivity test has been conducted with these lineages having Chunpoong and Yunpoong, the existing varieties as the reference varieties. For the lineages excellent in growing, the variety registration will be performed after the regional adaptation test. Methods and Results : The results of productivity tests on the 3 lineages (GS98-3-4, GS00-58 and GS97-69) selected for excellent growing while having Chunpoong and Yunpoong as the reference varieties show that on the 2-years-old dormant roots, all of the selected 3 lineages are better in growing compared to the reference varieties. Especially, GS98-3-4 shows excellent leaf lengths and stem lengths while GS97-69 shows excellent leaf widths. On the overground growing of 3-years-old ones, GS00-58 and GS97-69 lineages are exceedingly more excellent compared to the reference varieties while the selected 3 lineages showing superb underground growing. Especially, GS98-3-4 lineage shows great root weights and diameters. Conclusion : According to the productivity tests on the 3 lineages selected for excellent growing, the selected lineages are excellent in both overground and underground growing compared to the reference varieties of Chunpoong and Yunpoong. On the 2-years-old ginsengs, GS98-3-4 shows excellent overground growing while GS97-69 shows excellent underground growing. On the 3-years-old ginsengs, GS00-58 and GS97-69 show excellent overground growing while GS98-3-4 shows excellent underground growing.

        Background : Multi-stage system were used for development of stable ginseng seedling production. Bed-soil for the production of ginseng seedling in the multi-stage was similar to the conventional bed-soil but the weight of the bed-soil was high and the efficiency of operation in the multi-stage was lowered. In this study, the yield and quality of ginseng seedling was investigated by commercial lightweight bed-soil in the multi-stage facilities, and the possibility of application of lightweight bed-soil. Methods and Results : This study was carried out by a 3-stage cultivation bed using a 50 ㎜ sandwich panel in a house shaded with 85% light-shielding net. The width of the cultivating bed was 90 ㎝, the height was 30 ㎝, and the height of each stage was 50 ㎝. In the first and second stages, the amount of light was insufficient, so two rows of fluorescent lamps were installed and the third stage was used natural light. Ginseng seeds were sown on the cultivating bed in November 2016, and ginseng seeds (native species) were sown with a density of 3 × 3 ㎝. The chemical properties of lightweight bed-soil were pH 5.11, and EC 0.76 dS/m. It was suitable for ginseng seedling cultivation. The bulk density was 0.21 Mg/㎥. Among the growth characteristics of the ginseng seedlings, the root length was the longest as 17.0 ㎝ in the conventional cultivation, and the second stage was the longest at 14.8 ㎝ in the multi-stage facility. The root diameter in the multi-stage system was 0.2 - 0.4 ㎜ thicker than the conventional one. Root weights of lightweight bed-soil were similar to those of conventional cultivation. The yield of ginseng seedlings in the 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd stage was 721.3 g, 692.0 g, and 394.7 g/1.62 ㎡ respectively. Conclusion : In the production of ginseng seedling using multi-stage facilities, the commercial bed-soil was better than the conventional bed-soil (light, workability). The differences in yields in the multi-stage facilities can be overcome if the growth management such as moisture management is more systematic. If we develop the technology to reuse the bed-soil after harvesting the ginseng seedling, it will be economical and able to supply to farmers.

        Amaranth (Amaranth caudatus) is attracting attention as a preference crop in Gyeongsangbuk-do province. To determine its growth potential and cultivation requirements, we investigated its growth characteristics, dry matter productivity, and grain yield according to the growing period. Growth and dry matter productivity were significantly higher for plants that were sown on May 10th when the temperature was the highest, whereas the yield was significantly higher for plants that were sown on April 10th. Amaranth grain yield ranged from 96 to 243 kg according to the sowing date and cultivation year. The optimum harvest time for plants that were sown on April 10th, May 10th, and June 10th were 120, 110, and 110 days after seeding, respectively. The mean temperature and growing period had a significant quadratic function with yield. Based on these equations, the optimum growing temperature was estimated as 20.6℃ and the optimum growing period as 104-119 days after seeding.

        본 연구는 가나의 비료 보조금 정책(Fertilizer subsidy program: FSP)의 농업 생산성에 대한 영향을 분석하였다. 가나의 군(district) 지역 수준의 농업 생산량 및 투입요소에 대한 자료를 사용하여, FSP 도입 이전과 FSP 도입 이후의 농업 생산성을 계측하였다. 지역적으로 상이한 수준의 농업 생산성을 반영하기 위한 지리적가중회귀(GWR)모형을 사용하여 계측 의 오류를 줄이고 공간이질성을 고려하였다. 추정 결과를 바탕으로 ArcMap을 이용하여 생산성을 지도로 시각화 한 자료를 살펴보면, FSP 도입 이후 농업 생산성이 전반적으로 개선되었으며 그 중에서도 생산성이 크게 향상된 지역을 특정할 수 있다. 이러한 공간적 변화는 FSP의 지역적 할당의 효율성 증진을 위한 의사결정 자료로 이용 가능하며, 국내 ODA 추진기관에 서 농업 지도 및 지원을 위해 유용한 정보로 사용할 수 있다.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of envrionmental factors on the ecological responses, yield, and quality properties and physicochemical characteristics of yacon cultivated in various regions of Korea. Experiments were carried out in eight regions from 2010 to 2013. The temperature range in Jinbu, Bonghwa, Cheolwon, and Gangneung during the growth period of yacon cultivation was 17.5-24.6°C. The total yield and marketable yield of tuberous root in Jinbu were 4,065 and 3,196 kg/10a, respectively. The sugar content of yacon tuberous roots comprised 0.11-0.20% fructose, 0.11-0.37% glucose, 0.39-0.68% sucrose, 0.07-0.37% reducing sugar, and 7.03-9.62% fructo-oligosaccharides. The content of fructo-oligosaccharides, which is a functional substance, was the highest in yacon cultivated in Jinbu. Based on the productivity and functional fructo-oligosaccharides, the optimum areas to cultivate yacon are Jinbu and Bonghwa, which are located in the middle-highland zone (500-560 m) and have a suitable growth temperature of 18-25°C. The results of the present study indicate that temperature could be the factor with the greatest influence on the root growth of yacon.

        항만의 서비스 수준은 항만의 운영 및 관리 주체인 터미널운영사(TOC), 항만공사 및 정부의 입장에서 항만간 경쟁력의 기준이 되 며, 항만의 이용 주체인 선사 및 화주의 입장에서는 어느 항만을 선택할 지를 결정하는 중요 지표로도 활용된다. 이러한 지표의 중요성을 고 려하여 컨테이너 부두 및 벌크부두를 대상으로 중요 서비스 지표인 선석 점유율, 선박 대기율, 선석 처리량, 접안 척수, 평균 대기 척수, 평균 대기 시간과 같은 6개 지표를 객관적으로 정의하고 관리할 수 있는 소프트웨어를 개발하였다. 컨테이너 부두는 1개 선석부터 6개 선석까지와 벌크 부두는 1개 선석부터 4개 선석까지를 선택적으로 활용할 수 있도록 6개의 서비스 지표를 산정하여 예측이 가능토록 하였다. 이를 활용 하면 선석점유율 대비 선박 대기율, 선석 처리량, 접안 척수, 평균 대기 척수, 평균 대기 시간을 예측할 수 있다. 추가하여 선박의 도착 패턴에 따라 선박 대기율과 항만의 생산성 지표인 연간 처리량도 어떻게 변화되는지를 예측할 수 있도록 하였다. 결과적으로, TOC 입장에서는 서비 스 지표인 선박 대기율과 생산성 지표인 연간 처리량의 관계에서 최적의 운영 수준을 전략적으로 선택(Trade-off)할 수 있으므로 경쟁 항만 에 대비하여 더 많은 선사 및 화주를 유치할 수 있으므로 터미널 수입도 극대화할 수 있다.

        우리나라는 런던협약 이행을 위하여 2012년부터 하수슬러지의 해양투기를 금지하고, 매립용 복토재, 발전소 보조연료, 바이오가스 생산 원료 등 하수슬러지를 다양한 재활용 물질로써 활용하기 위한 방법을 모색하여왔다. 이중 수열탄화(Hydrothermal carbonization)방법은 닫힌계에서 180℃~250℃온도조건과 이때 생성되는 반응기내 압력으로 운영되는 기술로, 기존 건조기술대비 에너지소비가 적은 연료화 기술이나 수열탄화 공정이후 다량으로 발생하는 탈리액의 처리가 필요하다. 이처럼 수열탄화 공정이후 고액분리된 액체생성물을 효과적으로 처리·활용하고자 본 연구는 하수슬러지 수열탄화 액체생성물의 단독 혐기소화 및 음폐수와의 혼합소화실험을 통하여 바이오가스 생산추이를 비롯한 혐기소화 특성변화를 관찰하였다. 실험은 유효용적 5L 규모의 혐기성소화조를 이용하였고, 35℃ 항온조건을 유지하기 위하여 water jacket형태로 반응기를 구성하였으며, 반응기 내부 균질화를 위하여 80rpm속도로 기계적 교반을 진행하였다. 유기물부하율(OLR)은 1g VS/L-day로 운영후 1.5g VS/L-day까지 증대시켰다. 실험 결과, OLR 1g VS/L-day 조건에서 하수슬러지 수열탄화 액체생성물의 경우 0.17L/g COD의 메탄전환율을 보였고, 음폐수혼합액의 경우 메탄전환율은 0.30L/g COD로 수열탄화 액체생성물 단독소화일 때 보다 높은 값을 보였다. OLR 1.5g VS/L-day 조건에서는 수열탄화액 액체생성물 단독처리시 OLR 1g VS/L-day 조건보다 메탄전환율이 크게 감소하는 경향을 보였고, 음폐수 혼합액은 OLR 1g VS/L-day 조건과 유사한 메탄전환율을 나타냈다.

        Net primary productivity (NPP) is considered as an important indicator for forest ecosystem since the role of the forest is highlighted as a key sector for mitigating climate change. The objective of this research is to estimate changes on the net primary productivity of forest in South Korea under the different climate change scenarios. The G4M (Global Forest Model) was used to estimate current NPP and future NPP trends in different climate scenarios. As input data, we used detailed (1 km × 1 km) downscaled monthly precipitation and average temperature from Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) for four RCP (Representative Concentration Pathway) scenarios (2.6/4.5/6.0/8.5). We used MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) NPP data for the model validation. Current NPP derived from G4M showed similar patterns with MODIS NPP data. Total NPP of forest increased in most of RCP scenarios except RCP 8.5 scenario because the average temperature increased by 5°C. In addition, the standard deviation of annual precipitation was the highest in RCP8.5 scenario. Precipitation change in wider range could cause water stress on vegetation that affects decrease of forest productivity. We calculated future NPP change in different climate change scenarios to estimate carbon sequestration in forest ecosystem. If there was no biome changes in the future NPP will be decreased up to 90%. On the other hand, if proper biome change will be conducted, future NPP will be increased 50% according to scenarios.

        가속화되는 미디어의 확장과 데이터, 정보, 지식의 홍수 속에서 급변하는 커뮤니케이션 환경과 시대에 맞는 소통방법인 시각언어의 중요성을 인식하여야 한다. 본 논문은 시대에 맞는 시각언어의 생산이 요구되는 시점에 미래지향적 부가가치의 핵심인 시각언어의 디자인적 생산에 대한 효용성을 논의하였다. 시각언어의 사회적 역할과 특성, 표현방법을 살펴본 후 디자인적 생산성의 개념을 정의하여 생산 환경의 변화에 따른 사회 결정론적 디자인적 생산성에 대하여 알아보고 이를 바탕으로 인포그래픽을 통해 디자인적 생산을 시도한 기업 사례를 살펴보았다. 디자인적 생산에 기반을 둔 시각적 표현은 직접적인 표현방식에서 벗어난 또 다른 의미와의 연계성, 추상적인 것을 구체적인 것으로 대체해 주며 표현의 발전적 방법론을 콘셉트에 맞춰 효과적으로 제시해 준다. 시각언어의 요소를 파악하고 연상적·정서적 의미를 부여할 수 있는 인지적 접근이 요구되며 수용자의 입장에서 논리적인 핵심기능과 정보를 시각언어로써 접근해야 한다. 이 같은 내용에 따라 새로운 창조적 가치를 창출하기 위해 적극적인 시각언어 생산이 필요하며 시각언어가 디자인의 시각적 아름다움으로써의 생산이 아닌 체계적이고 전문화된 의미생산에 초점을 두어 개발되어야 할 것이다.

        This study was aimed to grow organic forage as a prime requirement for organic Hanwoo cattle production over a period of 3 years (2012~2015) in Gyeongbuk region, Korea through mixed cropping of winter fodder barley with legume and application of fermented cattle manure. The effect of barley-legume mixed cropping and application of different levels of fermented cattle manure was studied on forage productivity of whole-crop barley (WCB) and evaluation of feeding capacity of Korean native cattle (Hanwoo) per unit area. The collected data was analyzed using SAS 9.3 software. Barley-legume mixed cropping increased (P< 0.05) yields of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and total digestible nutrients (TDN) as compared to those of sole WCB as monoculture. Similarly, acid detergent fiber (ADF) contents and relative feed value (RFV) were also higher (P<0.05) in barley-legume mixed sowing forage compared with those of sole WCB as monoculture. In case of manure application, yields of DM, CP and TDN were also found (P<0.05) highest in 100~150 ㎏ N/㏊. However, varying cattle manure levels did not influence (P>0.05) CP and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) contents. In response to increasing nitrogen application level, ADF content increased (P<0.05) but TDN content and RFV decreased (P<0.05). The Barley-legume mixed sowing and increasing application levels of fermented cattle manure also significantly enhanced (P<0.05) feeding capacity of organic Hanwoo (head/ha) having 450 kg body weight with 400 g of daily gain. Findings of present study indicated that barley-legume biculture not only cut nitrogen application level of fermented cattle manure by over 50 kg per ha but also increased their feed value and productivity of forage as compared to WCB monoculture. This would be contribution to the diversity of forage resources as well as production of organic animal product by creating low cost and high quality organic forage.

        Background : Generally, price of Jiwhang(Rehmannia glutinosa L.) is highest in August. In this study, Economic Evaluation and Productivity of 9 Jiwhang varieties w ere analyzed according to harvesting tim es of August and October. The lower roots yield at August harvest was in Korea jiwhang and Hwanggang. The higher economic feasibility at August harvest was in Gogang, Togang, Dagang and Wongang. The higher economic feasibility at ended-October harvest was in Gogang, Yeongang, Togang, Dagang and Wongang.

        Background : Angelica gigas N., one of the herbs has been used most frequently with Glycyrrhiza uralensis. It is usually cultivated in semi-alpine of more than 400m in North Central province of South Korea. However its production is becoming more unstable due to the climate change especially abnormally high temperature. In particular, the environmental change may cause not only a change in production but also a change in active ingredient of Angelica gigas N. This study was performed to investigate these problems. Methods and Results : This study was carried out in temperature gradient tunnel(TGT) in Pyeongchang, Gangwon province. Temperature conditions were maintained the ambient+0~2℃ (T1), ambient+2~4℃(T2), ambient+4~5℃(T3) throughout the year. We planted and grown one year old seedlings of Angelica gigas N. from mid-April to early November. As a result, there was no difference in early growth of Angelica gigas N. among the temperature range but there was a difference between each treatment region from the survey in June. Average length of soot in T1, T2, T3 was the largest(36cm), medium(27cm), smallest(19cm) respectively. This trend was similar to a survey in September and November. Each of death rate was 0%(T1), 19%(T2), 71%(T3). There was no bolting according to the temperature. The yield of a plant of Angelica gigas N. was 476g(T1), 76g(T2), 26g(T3), respectively. Production of Angelica gigas N. is foreseen 84.7% and 94.5% reduction if the temperature rises to 3±1℃ and 4±1℃ more than it is at present based on temperature in Pyeongchang 2015. Total amount of Decursin was reduced at higher temperatures. Conclusion : The results of this study show that quality and production of Angelica gigas N. is expected to decline significantly if the temperature rise than the current. Therefore development of various techniques is required to response to climate change.

        This study was conducted to investigate the effects of mixed-sowing of legume forage and applying of cattle manure on the productivity of organic rye to provide dairy farmers with safe organic feeds. Also the present study aimed to evaluate optimal applying level of cattle manure and carrying capacity of Korean native cattle (Hanwoo) per unit area. The amount of crude protein was significantly higher in the mixed-sowing of legume forage (average 760~786 kg/ha) than in the single-sowing of rye (average 353 kg/ha) (p<0.05). The mixed-sowing of forage peas and the single-sowing of rye tended to improve by increasing the level of nitrous fertilization rather than the fertilization treatment. The amount of crude protein on the rye according to the mixed-sowing of legume was significantly higher in the mixture (average 8.29~9.90%) than in the single (average 4.93%) (p<0.05). The comparison by the level of nitrogen fertilization indicated signifi-cantly high for the rye in 50 kg N/ha than in fertilization treatments (p<0.05). Total digestible nutrients (TDN) amount in the single-sowing of rye was average 46.86% and has lower than average 49.96~50.12% of the mixed-sowing of legume, and especially the mixed-sowing of forage pea was the highest with 54.55% in 150 kg N/ha for the level of nitrogen fertilization (p<0.05). The breeding ability of annual organic livestocks per unit area according to the feed value of rye presented significantly higher ability in the mixed-sowing of legume (3.72~4.12 heads) than the single-sowing of rye (average 2.26 heads) (p<0.05). By summarizing above results, the mixed-sowing of legume is required to improve the productivity and the feed value of rye for increasing organic livestock breeding ability in southern area of Gyeongbuk regions, and the study for identifying the appropriate fertiliza-tion level using livestock excretions is further necessary.

        Nitrogen is a key component in the growth of crop plant. To increase the yield of crops, an enormous amount of nitrogen fertilizer is currently being used, which increases the total production cost and leads to environmental pollution by the residual nitrogen sources. For these reasons, researchers have tried to improve the crop’s nitrogen use efficiency (NUE) as a solution for reducing the amount of nitrogen fertilizer used. MicroRNAs are a class of small non-coding RNAs regulating the expression of target genes. Recent studies suggested that the expression pool of microRNAs changes in response to a variety of nutrient deficiencies and that such changes play important roles in adapting to or resisting the consequential nutritional stresses. Here, we aim to identify and characterize rice microRNAs whose expression changes upon nitrogen starvation and re-supplementation. By applying RNA-Seq, we observed that the expression of a set of genes involved in nitrogen assimilation was altered in response to nitrogen deprivation. We also found that a considerable number of microRNAs exhibited dynamic expression changes in a nitrogen supply state-dependent manner and that the expression of genes targeted by those differentially regulated microRNAs was altered reciprocally. Our study suggests that microRNAs may have roles in regulating the response of rice to nitrogen supply state and subsequently modulating NUE.
