This study aimed to explore nursing students' experience of learning cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in a web-based virtual simulation (vSim) through analysis of the reflection journals. Method: From June to July 2020, data were collected from 48 fourth-year nursing students who performed the simulation by reviewing prompt feedback on their CPR performance. The contents of the reflection journals were analyzed using NVivo qualitative data analysis software. Results: Nursing students experienced unfamiliarity with the English-based virtual environment as well as psychological pressure and anxiety about emergencies. Incorrect interventions were identified in the following order of frequency: violation of defibrillator guidelines, missing fundamental nursing care, error in applying an electrocardiogram monitor, inadequate initial response to cardiac arrest, insufficient chest compression, and inadequate ventilation. Lastly, the participants learned the importance of embodied knowledge, for knowing and acting accurately and reacting immediately, and their attitudes as nurses, such as responsibility, calmness, and attentiveness. Learning strategies included memory retention through repetition, real-time feedback analysis, pre-learning, and imagining action sequences in advance. The level of achievement, time required, CPR quality, and confidence improved with behavior-modification strategies developed through self-reflection. Conclusion: Educational interventions that are based on understanding accurate algorithms can strengthen selfawareness of mistakes to improve efficient imparting of CPR education.

Purpose: This study aimed to perform an integrated literature review to identify evidence for developing a problem-based learning (PBL) method based on a simulation education program for nursing students. Methods: In May 2022, 10 electronic databases were used to conduct a literature search using the keywords simulation, PBL, nursing, and education in Korean and English. Finally, 21 studies were selected. Results: There were more single-type simulation studies than studies using a hybrid model that combined two simulation types. Most simulation studies were for a single domain of adult nursing rather than for various integrated domains. Four studies (19%) applied a theory during debriefing, but most did not conduct a systematically structured debriefing. All studies selected attitude and competency as the outcome variables to study the effects of the intervention. Two variables (attitude and competency) or three variables (knowledge [or skill], attitude, and competency) were typically selected, and their effects were measured. Conclusion: PBL based on simulation education can be effective in improving nursing practice competency in nursing students. Future studies ought to develop interprofessional education programs based on PBL simulations through multidisciplinary cooperation.
Purpose: In this study, we developed an integrated simulation practicum and investigated the effectiveness of the practicum for senior nursing students. Methods: Sixty-seven senior nursing students from a university were enrolled in this study and assigned into two groups: experimental (n = 31) and control (n = 36). We developed and applied a 60-hour integrated simulation practicum that spans a 3-week period. The control group performed a traditional clinical practicum. The outcome measures were critical thinking disposition, clinical competence, and practicum satisfaction and the data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 software. Results: After the intervention, both experimental and control groups showed significant improvement in critical thinking disposition (p = .017) and clinical competence (p < .001) compared to those of the baseline. Regarding practicum satisfaction, the experimental group showed significantly higher satisfaction than the control group (p = .003). Conclusion: The integrated simulation practicum was an effective program that improved critical thinking, clinical competence, and practicum satisfaction in senior nursing students. To effectively improve critical thinking and acquire clinical competence, which are essential for prospective nurses, nursing students should be exposed more to simulation practicum that reflect environments similar to actual clinical settings for various patients with complex health problems.
Purpose: This study analyzed domestic studies on blended learning among nursing students to identify research trends and future directions.
Methods: This scoping review was conducted following the process suggested by Arksey and O’Malley: 1) identifying the research questions; 2) searching for relevant studies; 3) study selection; 4) charting the data; 5) collating, summarizing, and reporting the results; and 6) optional consultation. Relevant studies were searched using the keywords “blended learning” and “nursing” in the domestic databases RISS, KISS, and DBpia. The selection and exclusion criteria were applied to 203 articles, and 34 were finally selected.
Results: The final 34 studies included 30 quantitative and four qualitative studies. Most of the studies were experimental studies. In undergraduate nursing education, blended learning was utilized more in the classroom than in the lab or clinical setting. Furthermore, it was mainly applied by combining online and offline approaches. It improved learning satisfaction, critical thinking, clinical performance, and self-directed learning ability.
Conclusion: Research on blended learning in nursing education has increased over time. Blended learning positively affects learning satisfaction and learning ability in nursing students; thus, it is expected that this could be effectively utilized in both the classroom and lab or in clinical teaching for nursing students. Therefore, future studies using various research methods should be expanded, and systematic reviews and meta-analyses are recommended.

Purpose: Room of Errors is a little-known method in Korea, effective for patient safety education. This study aimed to examine nursing students’ recognition of pre-staged medical errors while working as individuals or in a team.
Methods: Thirty-four errors for a pre-op care scenario and thirty errors for a post-op care scenario were pre-set in two simulated patient rooms. Fifty-six nursing students randomly participated as individuals or as a team in one of two “Room of Errors” to find as many errors as possible within a certain time. The evaluation of error detection and debriefing occurred immediately following the simulation.
Results: “Wrong patient name on wrist band” (77-100%) and “bedside rails down” (91-100%) were the most frequently identified errors by both individuals and teams. Few students found “injection of a drug to which the patient is allergic” (0-9%) and “administration of a contraindicated drug to the patient” (0-7.7%). The performance of students working in a team was much better than those working alone.
Conclusion: This study found that “Room of Errors” provided very experiential and practical learning to nursing students in identifying simulated patient threats. The method is also useful for interprofessional patient safety education to develop teamwork and communication.

Conclusion: Self-directed practice using augmented reality simulation was confirmed to be an effective method to increase confidence, ability and practice satisfaction in nursing skills.
This study was aimed to develop morality improvement education program (MIEP) and to evaluate the effects of MIEP among nursing students by quasi experimental design. Theoretical framework is based on Ajzen’s theory of planned behavior and Rest's Four-Component Model: moral sensitivity, moral judgement, moral motivation, and moral implementation. Research design used a nonequivalent control group pre-post test. Participants were 75 undergraduate nursing students recruited from S college, assigned to either an experimental group (38 students) or a control group (37 students). The two hour education was provided once a week for eight weeks from March to June, 2013. Self-reported questionnaires were given to the students before and after the education. The data were analyzed using t-test, Chisquare-test, paired t-test, unpaired t-test, ANOVA, and MANCOVA with SPSS Windows 18.0 program. The results as follows: 1. The experimental group showed a more significant increase on the 4 components affecting morality improvement compared to the control group. 2. There was no significant differences on moral sensitivity and moral judgment between experimental group and control group. 3. The experimental group showed a more significant increase on moral motivation and moral implementation compared to the control group. Based on these results, this MIEP was effective in improving morality improvement, and especially increasing moral motivation and moral implementation among nursing students. MIEP developed in this study could be used for improving nursing students' morality.
