국내 도로표지는 국토교통부에서 제정한 「도로표지 제작·설치 및 관리지침」을 토대로 설계와 시공이 이루어지고 있으며 문형식 과 편지식 도로표지 기초는 주로 역 T형 형식을 적용하고 있다. 기초 상단이 갓길 측은 성토 비탈면에, 중앙분리대 측은 포장 면에 위 치하여 기초 연결부가 고부식성 환경조건에 놓이게 된다. 이는 지주 및 앵커볼트에 부식이 쉽게 발생하고 장기적으로는 구조성능 저 하로 이어질 수 있는 사안이다. 아울러, 중앙분리대 측 문형식 도로표지 지주에는 방호 시설이 없는 상태로 차량 충돌 시 변형 또는 전도 위험과 2차 사고 발생 가능성 있다. 본 연구에서는 문형식과 편지식 도로표지 기초를 방호울타리 상단까지 높이는 방법으로 개선하였다. 풍하중에 의한 지주 휨모멘트 가 평균 18% 감소 되어 경제적인 설계가 가능하고 기초 연결부 환경조건이 개선되었다. 중앙분리대 측은 교통차단 등 특별한 조치 없 이도 상시 육안 점검이 가능하게 되어 유지관리 효율성이 증가하였고 방호성능 확보로 차량 충돌 시 지주 변형 또는 전도 위험이 해 소되었다. 결론적으로 기초 상단을 높임으로써 내구성, 유지관리 효율성 및 방호성능 향상을 기하면서도 경제적인 설계가 가능하게 되었다.
Lee, Hye-Kyung. (2023). “The Speech Act of Explanation in Closure Signs”. The Sociolinguistic Journal of Korea, 31(4), 1-32. This study investigates the speech act of explanation within a corpus of approximately 243 closure signs posted during the Covid-19 pandemic in Korea. Using a classification system derived from Bella and Ogiermann (2022), the explanations are categorized into four distinct groups. Category 1 explanations are further divided into three subcategories: signs revealing the relationships between government decisions and closures, those with expressions of support for official mandates, and those presenting dissent with closure directives. A comparative analysis between the third sub-category and pandemic-related activities (i.e., My Body My Choice Activities) is also conducted, highlighting similarities and differences. Category 2 centers on safety concerns, emphasizing public health and safety as the primary justification for closures. Notably, this category showcases an elevated sense of agency among sign authors. Explanations in Category 3 combine Categories 1 and 2. Category 4 explanations, which attribute closure to Covid-19, necessitate an investigation of terms referring to Covid-19. It is observed that the naming closely adheres to normative and public guidelines, reflecting a collective awareness of the crisis and a commitment to cooperation. The findings contribute valuable insights into the linguistic and cultural characteristics of explanations within Korean business closure signs, indicating phenomena specific to Korean communities.
PURPOSES : Speed management is essential for enhancing children’s safety in school zones. The objectives of this study are to analyze how digital-based school zone signs and newly proposed signage for increasing visibility influence speed reductions and how the new system facilitates drivers obeying the speed limits.
METHODS : A before/after analysis technique with comparison groups (widely used to evaluate safety effects) was employed. To effectively capture the safety effects of the new system, two significant measures were selected as the measures of effectiveness: the rates of change in space mean speeds and speed limit compliance.
RESULTS : With three target sites and three comparison sites, the mean space speeds after installing the new systems were found to be slightly reduced for all target sites (the reduction rates of the space mean speed were found to be 5% for site A, 1% for site B, and 6% for site C). The lack of a constant tendency in speed reduction effects at all sites might be owing to the fact that the speed data collection was conducted before the driver's system adaptation was sufficiently performed. Regarding the speed limit compliance rate, significant increases were observed at two sites (10% for site A and 51% for site C), but site B did not show an increasing effect. The reason for the absence of this effect is that the installation of crosswalks and speed bumps at the target site affected the driver's compliance with the speed limit.
CONCLUSIONS : An insufficient amount of evaluation results was obtained for the new guidance system. However, the new guidance system method provides an alternative approach to improving children's safety, i.e., by inducing drivers to actively slow down in school zones.
In this study, a mixed resin containing Bis-GMA was developed to produce a light-emitting sign using quantum dots. As a result of measuring the viscosity, color coordinates change, and luminance of the mixed resin, the following conclusions were obtained. The viscosity of the mixed resin decreased as the content of the diluent increased, and viscosity values ranged from 3,627 to 1,349cps showed as a result. The viscosity of the mixed resin decreased as the temperature increased, and the viscosity showed a value of 5,156 to 1,132cps. For the optical properties of InP/GaP/ZnSe/ZnS quantum dots, the absolute quantum efficiency was 91% at 522nm and 90% at 618nm when the gallium was 0.01%. The luminance of the light-emitting sign using the resin mixed with quantum dots was showed 142.6cd/m2 in white and 104.2cd/m2 in the red region.
In horse management, the alarm system with sensors in the foaling period enables the breeder can appropriately prepare the time of the parturition. It is important to prevent losses by unpredictable parturition because there are several high risks such as dystocia and the death of foals and mares during foaling. However, unlike analysis in the alarm system that detects specific motions has been widely performed, analysis of classification following specific behavior patterns or number needs to be more organized. Thus, the objective of this study is to classify signs of the specific behaviors of the mares for the prediction of pre-foaling behaviors. Five Thoroughbred mares (9-20 yrs) were randomly selected for observation of the prefoaling behaviors. The behaviors were monitored for 90 min that was divided into three different periods as 1) from -90 to -60 min, 2) from -60 to -30 min, 3) from -30 min to the time for the discharge of the amniotic fluid, respectively. The behaviors were divided into two different categories as state and frequent behaviors and each specific behavioral pattern for classification was individually described. In the state behaviors, the number of mares in the standing of the foaling group (3.17 ± 0.18b) at period 3 was significantly higher than the control group (1.67 ± 0.46a). In contrast, the number of the mares in the eating of the foaling group (1.17 ± 0.34b) at period 3 was significantly lower than the control group (3.33 ± 0.46a). In the frequent behaviors, the weaving of the foaling group was significantly higher than the control group, and looking at the belly of the foaling group was significantly lower than the control group. In period 2, defecation, weaving, and lowering the head of the foaling group were significantly higher than the control group, respectively. In period 3, sitting down and standing up, pawing, weaving, and lowering the head in the foaling group were also significantly higher than the control group. In conclusion, the behavior is significantly different in foaling periods, and the prediction of foaling may be feasible by the detection of the pre-foaling behaviors in the mares.
The following study analyzes the linguistic landscape of governmental public signs with focus on whether language rights are being fulfilled, in Garibong-Dong, Seoul, which has a high proportion of people with Chinese citizenship in Korea, most of whom are Korean-Chinese, utilizing “Language Rights of Linguistic Minorities: A Practical Guide for Implementation” (Izsák-Ndiaye, 2013) published by the UN OHCHR (Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights) as a framework to see whether language rights are being fulfilled by governmental public signs. The study includes interviews with two workers of Korea Support Center for Foreign Workers about whether language rights of Garibong-dong's residents could be affected by the linguistic landscape and what efforts could the governments make for residents.
PURPOSES : This study aims to investigate the effect of the propagation time of variable message sign (VMS) information and drivers’ detour rate on the VMS performance under non-recurrent traffic states.
METHODS: A microscopic simulation model (i.e., VISSIM and VISSIM COM User Interface) was developed at a location where VMS messages were most frequently displaced in 2018 from the Busan Regional Construction and Management Administration. The non-recurrent traffic states realized in this study were one- and two-lane close cases with scenarios involving multiple propagation times from 0 min to 20 min in 2 min increments and detour rates from 0% to 50%, in 10% increments. The measures of effectiveness are the average delay per vehicle, total travel time, and reduction rate of the total travel time based on the average value of 30 multiple simulation runs for individual scenarios.
RESULTS:For the one- and two-lane close cases, the reduction rate of the total travel time increased as the propagation time shortened and the detour rate became bigger. The optimal (i.e., 0 min propagation time and 50% detour rate) and worst (i.e., 20 min propagation time and 10% detour rate) scenarios produced 41.1% (8.9 h) and 6.4% (1.4 h) and 26.4% (86.5 h) and 1.4% (4.7 h) of the total travel time for the one- and twolane close cases, respectively.
CONCLUSIONS : The study results implied that the late propagation time and the low detour rate might not significantly influence the VMS system. Therefore, it is important to improve the information process time for the shorter propagation time and the reliability of the VMS information for a higher detour rate, which will result in a better VMS system performance.
PURPOSES: The objective of this study is to develop an external lighting traffic sign system for better visibility.
METHODS: To develop an external lighting traffic sign system, we selected an installation location and an appropriate angle of view for the luminaire. Using these parameters, we developed an external traffic sign system based on field installation results on the lighting and reflector. The economic benefit is then compared with the cost, an analysis that is necessary for both internal and external lighting traffic signs.
RESULTS: Through experiments on the number of luminaires necessary to improve illuminance deviation and visibility, it was confirmed that the illuminance was improved roughly 2 to 3 times by the use of two luminaires. The protruding height (H) of the luminaire is 1.0 m, in consideration of the differences in brightness and driver visibility between the top and bottom, and the angle of view of the luminaire is applied at 120 degrees of high-brightness and low-brightness difference. The lower illuminance is lowered because of the diffusion of light according to the angle of view of the luminaire, due to the longer protruding length of the external lighting type traffic sign. To improve from this problem, the experiment was performed with the application of the reflecting plate, the lower illuminance of the sign was lowered, and the upper and lower illuminance ratio was improved. This solution was confirmed to be effective. As a result of reviewing the economic feasibility of the external illuminated traffic sign system, the cost reduction effect was determined to be about 39.8%.
CONCLUSIONS: The results of this study were used to develop a balanced combination of the optimum housing and lighting installation angle for external lighting traffic signs. The use of this technology requires further research under various site conditions.
안내판의 사전적 정의는 ‘어떤 내용을 소개하거나 사정 따위를 알리는 판’이다. 문화재 안내판은 정보를 제공하는 단순한 시설물 기능을 넘어 방문자와 소통하는 매체로써, 국민의 역사 인식과 지역 이미지 창출에 기여하는 바가 크다. 문화재보호법 시행규칙에 따르면 법 제48조제3항에 따라 공개 제한을 통보받은 시・도지사 또는 시장・군수・구청 장은 공개가 제한되는 문화재 주변에 제1항 각호의 사항을 적은 안내판을 설치하여야 한다.
문화재청은 2009년 문화재 안내판에 대한 중앙정부 차원의 정책부재와 안내판 정비 및 관리에 대한 지침(가이드라 인) 부재, 안내판 설치과정의 시스템구축 미비를 문제점으로 보고 전국의 문화재 안내판을 체계적으로 개선 정비하기 위해 안내판에 대한 기본 가이드라인으로 디자인의 원칙, 시스템의 원칙, 문화재 경관 중심의 원칙, 정보 전달의 원칙, 효율성의 원칙을 제시하였다. 이 가이드라인을 기초로 한 연구에서는 안내판의 현황을 통해 유형별 특색을 반영하고 명확한 정보전달과 홍보, 광고 기능을 위해 내용면의 통일성을 부여해야 한다는 문제점이 도출되었다.
따라서 본 연구는 천연기념물 식물 전체 263건 중 26개소를 대상으로 대상지를 대표하는 안내판의 유형을 분류하여 안내판의 현황과 나아갈 방향에 대해 도출해 보고자 한다. 우선 안내판의 일반적 사항을 살펴보고자 대상지의 유형과 지정명칭의 정확성을 살펴보았고, 안내판의 분류를 크게 내용적 분류와 형태적 분류로 구분하였다. 내용적 분류는 안내판에 담겨진 내용을 간략화한 것으로 글과 사진 유무, 언어, 내용으로 구분하였으며, 형태적 분류는 외형적 부분을 살펴본 것으로 안내판의 모양, 재질, 상태로 구분하였다.
그 결과 대상지는 군락 8건, 노거수 18건으로 조사되었으며 대체로 안내판의 위치는 식물의 위치와 근접하였으나 금릉 조룡리 은행나무와 순천 선암사 선암매(홍매)의 경우 지정된 식물과 위치가 상이하여 안내판의 위치가 적절하지 않은 것으로 조사되었다. 또한 지정명칭이 간략화 되었거나 다르게 표기된 건도 9건으로 조사되었다. 내용적 분류에서도 대체로 글만 있는 경우가 많았으나 글과 사진이 함께 있는 경우가 2건, 글과 간략한 지도가 있는 경우가 1건이었으며, 언어로는 한글과 영어가 표기된 안내판이 20건으로 가장 많았고 한글, 영어, 한자, 일본어의 4개국어가 표기된 경우가 4건, 한글, 영어, 한자 1건, 한국, 영어, 일본어 1건으로 통일성이 요구되었다. 포함내용은 유래, 지정사유, 현황, 특징, 수령의 5가지 형태로 구분할 수 있었는데 이 중 지정 사유가 안내판에 표기된 경우는 10건에 불과했다. 천연기념물 식물은 오랜 세월 동안 우리 민족과 밀접한 관계를 맺어 왔으며, 자연적 가치와 더불어 역사적 가치가 복합된 우리 민족의 자연유산으로 매우 다양한 가치를 내포하고 있다. 이렇듯 천연기념물 식물은 문화적인 측면과 매우 연관성이 있으며 유래, 지정사유와도 직접적 관련이 있는 것으로 보이므로 안내판에 필수적으로 표기되어야 할 항목으로 보인다.
형태적 분류는 유사한 군으로 묶어 문화재 안내판 중 철재의 ㄱ자 형태를 유형1, 세로로 긴 형태를 유형2라 표기하고 이외의 문화재안내판이 아닌 형태를 기타유형으로 분류 하였다. 안내판은 대체로 문화재 안내판의 유형인 유형1과 유형2로 분포하고 있으며 세부모양은 조금씩 차이를 보였다. 문화재청 가이드라인에서 벗어난 안내판 유형은 6건으로 조사되었다. 안내판의 상태는 양호 21건, 보통 2건, 불량 3건으로 글자색이 벗겨지거나 노후흔적이 나타난 안내판은 교체가 필요한 것으로 보인다. ‘제주 산천단 곰솔군’ 안내 판의 경우에는 노후흔적이나 글자색이 벗겨진 물리적 훼손은 없으나 안내판의 오류를 수정하는 방법으로 스티커 형태의 시트지를 덧붙임으로 인해 안내판의 가독성이 떨어지고 지저분해 보여 교체가 필요한 것으로 조사되었다.
문화재 안내판의 조사 결과, 문헌조사를 통해 문화재 안내판은 정확한 정보 전달이 중요하고 일관된 디자인을 통해 통일성을 부여해야하나 대상지들의 특성에 조화로운 변형이 필요하다고 보았다. 이를 바탕으로 실제 천연기념물 식물의 문화재 안내판의 현황을 살펴 본 결과, 대체로 형태적인 면에서 일관성을 주려 노력하였으나 내용적인 부분의 통일성이 부족하므로 포함내용의 일관성이 요구된다.
본 연구에서는 해설판의 ‘숲의 명칭’ 또는 ‘숲의 치유 효과에 대한 정보’가 이용객의 회복환경지각(perceived environmental restorativeness: PER)과 전반적 치유효과지각(perceived healing effectiveness: PHE)에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 2015년 5-6월 중 연구대상지역인 무등산국립공원 내 '치유의 숲길' 방문객을 대상으로 편의표본추출 방법 을 통해 247명의 표본이 선정되었으며 자기기입식 설문지기법을 통하여 데이터 수집이 이루어 졌다. 본 연구의 실험을 위해 ‘치유의 숲길’을 따라 설치한 해설판(숲의 명칭과 치유의 숲길의 치유효과에 관한 내용 포함)을 읽은 응답자는 플라시보그룹, 해설판을 읽지 않은 응답자는 컨트롤그룹으로 간주하였다. 분석결과, 컨트롤과 플라시보그룹 간 PER과 PHE는 전반적으로 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 PER의 구성 요인별 비교 결과에 따르면 플라시보그룹이 ‘벗어남’(being away) 요인에서 컨트롤그룹에 비해 긍정적인 수치를 나타냈다. PER의 4개 요인(벗어남, 짜임새, 매혹 감, 적합성) 모두 PHE에 영향을 미치는 것으로 조사되었으며(P<0.001) 이들 4개 요인은 PHE의 51.1%를 설명하였다. PHE에 미치는 영향력은 짜임새, 벗어남, 적합성, 매혹감 순으로 크게 나타났다. PER에 미치는 플라시보 효과는 남성, 저연령층, 저 방문경험 그룹에서 나타났으며, PHE에 미치는 플라시보 효과는 남성, 소그룹, 혼자서 또는 친척/가족 동반그룹, 저 방문경험 그룹에서 발견되었다. 관리적 관점에서 몇 가지 시사점을 제시하였다.
OBJECTIVES : A fog generated field test was conducted to analyze the relationship between different sizes of variable speed limit signs and the legibility distance under various fog density conditions. By using this study, appropriate sizes of signs can be selected depending on the density of fog. METHODS : An actual tunnel was selected as the area for this test, as other places cannot maintain the fog condition because of rapid air current. A total 121 subjects were recruited for this test, which took place over the course of four days. The test on the first day was conducted under normal weather conditions for comparison. Visibility-distance detecting sensor was used to measure the visibility distance due to the fog density time, simultaneously with the evaluation of legibility distance by subjects. RESULTS : The test results show the relationship between the different sizes of signs and the legibility distance corresponding to the visibility distance due to both non-fog and fog generated conditions. According to the technical test results, appreciable amount of reduction in legibility distance due to fog was resulted in all sizes of signs. Moreover, the legibility distance is reduced proportionately with the decrease in the visibility distance due to fog. CONCLUSIONS : The results of this study can be used to select appropriate sizes of valuable speed signs under fog conditions. Hence, drivers can expect to have more room to respond to adverse weather conditions, thereby reducing the risk of accidents.

PURPOSES: While road networks are becoming increasingly complex, traffic signs are being indiscriminately installed and operated, which makes drivers who depend on traffic signs to reach their destination confused and unable to understand road information efficiently. In order to promptly and exactly guide road users to their destinations, traffic signs should be able to satisfy the functions of connectivity, visibility, and location suitability. However, the results of a site survey shows that most of the traffic signs currently installed in the Jeollanam-do Province do not satisfy these functions. METHODS: This study analyzed the problems of traffic signs after an actual site survey and focused on a total on 9,353 traffic signs and 70 road routes in Jeollanam-do Province. RESULTS : This study analyzed the problems of traffic signs based on their required functions (connectivity, visibility, suitability) and suggested improvements by establishing a guide system that considered the problems found in the study. CONCLUSIONS : The guide system can be utilized as a basic material that provides efficient road information for future installation and maintenance of traffic signs in Jeollanam-do Province.
In this study, to find out the effect of psychological anxiety of the patients during MRI examination on the claustrophobia and vital signs, As for a study tool, to measure Anxiety Sensitivity Index(ASI), Kamsung Evaluation Index of Life Environmental Noise(KEI), Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders(DSM-IV) was used, and for vital signs, blood pressure and pulse rate were measured pre and post MRI examination. In conclusion, it was indicated that though the effect of the general characteristics, psychological anxiety, on noise sensitivity and claustrophobia was small, the psychological anxiety of the patients during MRI examination affected claustrophobia and vital signs.
PURPOSES : Expressways experience chronic and recurring congestion, especially during weekends and holidays, because of the increased demands for leisure-related travel. The alternatives to solve chronic and recurring congestion may be three-fold: (1) physical expansion of expressway capacities, (2) road pricing, and (3) temporal and spatial distribution of traffic demands. Among these, the third alternative may be the most cost-effective method for the Korea Expressway Corporation (KEC) that can be achieved by using the existing ITS infrastructure.
METHODS : KEC initiated a pilot study in which the traffic on congested expressways was managed by providing traffic condition information (i.e., travel times) of neighboring national highways for taking detours via variable message signs (VMS). This study aimed to estimate the detour rate, and the two pilot studies on Seohaean and Yeongdong expressways yielded many benefits.
RESULTS: It was revealed that the total length of congestion segments decreased by 7.8 km, and the average travel speed increased by 5.3 km/h.
CONCLUSIONS: Based on these findings, it was concluded that the propagation of detour information via VMSs during congestion hours can help reduce congestion on expressways and increase the benefits of the entire network.
As a preparation of a design standard regarding road facilities, such as cantilever columns for traffic lights, street lights on highways is proposed. Currently these minor structures are designed based on guidelines which are mixed with multiple old foreign specifications without any criteria in terms of safety and economy, which could lead irregular safeties and the loss of national properties. In the considered two cases for effective projected area, it is found that following efficient way of design without critical analyses could make significant errors and miscalculations. Therefore, a fundamental research on the minor structures is urgently needed.
