One opinion of traditional Chinese Philology is that Character is a shape, or a concrete image in one’s mind. But in modern Chinese linguistics and Philology quoted from linguistics in Europe and America, character is considered as the symbol of language. The same of these two ideologies is that character is seemed as a symbol. But the difference is that character equals meaning in the former one, on the contrary the latter considers character equals language. In the former theory, they are the same status between character and language, but in the latter theory, character is seemed as the dependency of language. This difference was originated from different research objects, different standing, and different theoretical basis.

Besides of new punctuation mark, punctuated and newly-revised edition of Kangxi Zidian(《康熙字典》) increased Chinese pinyin and zhuyin, and reset type. Though it meets the demands of user and readers, there are lots of mistakes in the book. We seldom found articles about the mistakes of punctuated and newly-revised edition of Kangxi Zidian(《康熙字典》) in recent years. So We choose and analyze some mistakes, and classify them into four categories: character pattern, transcription and citation, Chinese pinyin, punctuation mark. Hope it will be of assistance to the next edition’s revision of Kangxi Zidian(《康熙字典》) in future.

Kien Minagawa(皆川淇園) is a scholar of Chinese on Edo age of Japan. His work Wenxuejuyiao is a book about early Japanese learning Chinese literature. He created the “Kaibutsugaku”(開物學) that combines YiJing(《易經》) and phonology, trying to interpret Chinese words from a new perspective. This research analyzes Kien Minagawa(皆川淇園) towards Chinese words by Wenxuejuyao(《問學舉要》), and taking examples from his other works Shizijie(《實字解》), Xuzijie(《虛字解》) and Zhuzixiangjie(《助字詳解》), to clarify Kien Minagawa(皆川淇園)’s view of Chinese words and for descendants to make reference in the future.

This article focuses on the place names in Oracle bone characters. We specially pay attention to Oracle bone place names “functional”. This paper absorbs former existing research results, comprehensively analyzes of Oracle bone place names according to the context and refers to scholars “Function-oriented” classification criteria. The function of Oracle bone place includes worship, hunting, military, agriculture, administration and construction. Different literae humaniores activities are carried out in different functional places. The functional anysis of places can help us to understand humaniores activities at Oracal bone period.

This paper is concerned with the research on the classification and origin and connotation of the <Xunmeng zihui>. The paper points out that the term of dictionary definition is the key to grasp the meaning of Chinese characters to the users. However, because the ancient authors did not explain the terms they used, this resulted in our study of ancient Chinese character dictionary is very difficult. If we do not understand the terms, the source and uses of the dictionary, We will not be able to carry on the research to the South Korean Ancient Chinese character dictionary, Whether it is the dictionary itself, or its traditional and theoretical.

The article points out the definition and scope of Ming dynasty colloquial words in XunMengZiHui(Hereinafter referred to as ZiHui). The distribution of the colloquial words in ZiHui was throughly investigated and four major characteristics of the colloquial words are summerized. we think colloquial words in ZiHui can broaden the research field of modern Chinese vocabulary. It has great research value to the study of Chinese vocabulary periodic history and grand language reference book compilation.

Five years Diaosheng statue has a sentence called because Diaosheng gave shao Jiang five silk scarfs and a pair of pots. It has always been a variety of interpretations. This paper thinks, Yi(以) word is a preposition. Shuai(帥) word can be interpreted a Silk scarf. The sentence can be explained because Diaosheng gave shao Jiang five silk scarfs and a pair of pots.

The Collection of Characters of the Warring States Period edited by Tang Yuhui, includes the most abundant forms of Characters of the Warring States Period up to now. Characters on ancient seals are one type of Chinese Characters it recorded, which accounts over 1/4 among the total number of the characters. According to recently related research achievements, we made a revision of these missing prefixes of Chinese characters, forms of characters on ancient seals and other different mistakes in the Collection of Characters of the Warring States Period.

The study mainly focuses on the non-classical words in Dunhuang manuscripts of Tang Dynasty. We built a visualized database which not only showes the process of evolution and variation in detail of the non-classical words, but also illustrates the causes of formation, the principles of variation, the product of evolution in this period, and other relative issues. This paper is divided into four sections. The first section is to introduce some achievements of Dunhuang non-classical words, then explain what will be demonstrated in this paper. In section two we make a statistics about what had happened to Dunhuang non-classical words in three periods of Tang Dynasty. For the sake of clarifying the principle of evolution and variation in non-classical words of Dunhuang manuscripts, microscopic research and macroscopic analysis are operated in the third section. The final section makes a conclusion about the whole study. The target of this paper tries to set up a modeling with clue of time so as to conduct a systemic research at the macro level.

According to shape features of Chinese characters, Chinese characters are categorized with a four-word phrase in Zilin Zhiqi. This sorting method has not been done before. So this research helps to enrich diversities of dictionary layout and the compilation history of Chinese character dictionaries. Based on description of its style and layout in Zilin Zhiqi, this article reveals its unique style and analyzes its characteristic so as to reflect the unique value of this book. Further research is necessary because of deficiency of its stylistic rules and layout.
