The usage of Chinese characters never ceases during the long period of development. The continuous existence of Chinese characters relies upon its feature of “expressing meanings with formats”. Such feature is one of a kind among different characters all over the world. This feature also greatly influenced the peripheral countries and ethnics. The developments of Chinese characters form all kinds of complicated relationships. Such relationships are so sophisticated that scholars studying Chinese characters are exhausted in exploring records of Chinese characters’formats thus have no time to build up a scientific system of Chinese language. The study of the history of Chinese characters has been stopped on the documentary level for a long time and falls behind the research of the history of Chinese language. In this case, the researchers could not even figure out the specific time and using contexts of Chinese characters. Objectively speaking, such situation is due to the lack of a stage for researchers to conduct study on Chinese characters. Such shortage prevents researchers from knowing the development of Chinese characters, understanding the needs of using Chinese characters, and formulating regularities of Chinese characters.

Currently, the research on Chinese characters’examination in Korea is still lack of quantitative investigation and statistic information which are systematic and microscopic. Such shortage is a pity of modern research of Chinese characters in Korea and academia of Chinese characters should pay attention to this situation. The forms and quantity of Chinese characters is the foundation of regulating Chinese characters’examination. In order to edit the table of Chinese characters, a practical survey must be conducted. Based on this awareness, the researching group has imported the lists of Chinese characters from eight organizations conducting examination of Chinese characters into a database. By counting the quantity of characters, combining the information from Chinese characters’table of official examinations and the statistics of Chinese characters’ frequency in the database, then comparing them, our research group has established the important reference to define the Chinese characters’table, quantity of Chinese characters, and types of Chinese characters, which is a breakthrough. With this study, we have obtained a reliable cornerstone for the study of the quantity and types of Chinese characters used in Chinese examinations in Korea.

The research is based on the existing statistic study, which is built upon oracle-bone inscriptions’components with different formats. The quantative statistics of oracle-bone inscriptions’components rested on the frequency of characters engraved on oracle bones is accomplished in this study for the first time. Further, the study compares the quantative statistics of oracle-bone inscriptions’components from the perspectives of characters’formats and frequency. Consequently, the study obtains more authentic information about the quantity of oracle-bone inscriptions’components. Aside from that, the study also reveals the phenomenon that the slow development of oracle-bone inscriptions is associated with the intensive apprearances of oracle-bone inscriptions’components at the highest frequency and the lowest frequency.

The verification and explanation on Chinese Knotty words is one of the major tasks in the traditional Chinese exegetics, which is discussed on how to resolve the perplexing and difficult problems in article languages properly. There is a commonality on deciphering Chinese Knotty words, which you may read all the ancient literatures. However, the different properties of literatures can be studied as a special method. Chinese knotty words of Stone inscriptions have sharp property, which deserved to interpret seriously. According to my experience on verifying and explaining Chinese knotty words, I summed up 11 methods as references for the interpretation of stone inscriptions.
