The synthesis and solution properties of polyglycerol alkyl ether(R12Gn) are described. The phase behavior, surface tension, cloud point and HLB value of polyglycerol dodecyl ether in aqueous solution and in mixed solution of surfactant /water /oil have been investigated and compared with values of polyoxyethylene dodecyl ether. The surface tension showed that R12Gn have sufficiently low values of surface tension and cmc to serve as useful polyoxyethylene alkyl ether. The mesophases appearing in the R12Gn systems were more stable in a high temperature range than the mesophases of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether systems. The cloud point and HLB data indicated that addition of one glycerol group was equivalent to the addition of three oxyethylene group units, as far as the hydrophilic property was concerned. The phase diagrams of the polyglycerol alkyl ether /dodecane /water systems showed that the solubilizing and emulsifying powers of R12Gn were greater than those of polyoxyethylene alkyl ether. It is concluded that the polyglycerol chain can be even more useful as hydrophilic group of nonionic surfactants than the polyoxyethylene chain.
The kinetics of the hydrolysis of indolylacrylophenone derivatives(IA) was investigated by ultraviolet spectrophotometry in 30% dioxane-H2O at 25℃ Rate equations were obtained over a wide pH range. On the basis of rate equation, general base catalysis and Hammett's plot, the mechanism of hydrolysis to the (IA) were proposed: Below pH 3.0, the hydrolysis of (IA) was proportional to hydronium ion concentration, between pH 4.0~9.0 neutral water molecule and hydroxide ion were added to carbon-carbon double bond and over pH 10.0 hydrolysis of (IA) was proportional to hydroxide ion concentration.
This study was separated and identified prostaglandin from garlic by TLC, HPLC, and Gc-Mass. In this experiment aimed at researching the effects of garic on body weight, and serum lipid, protein and glucose in male rats. The male rats applied in this work were 42 of Sprague-Dawley strain. In addition to basal diet, the worker administrated 4 groups of the experimental rats solutions which were 0.2 and 0.4ml of raw garlic juice, and of etanol garlic extract with together 2.5% cholesterol solution solved by corn oil for 8 weeks respectively. These results were as follows. 1. Separated and identified of Prostaglandin from garlic. 2. The growth rate of body weight and food efficiency ratio(FER) appeared to be more increased in the experimental groups administrated ethanol garlic extract than raw garlic juice. 3. The content of serum total cholesterol apperaded to be decreased in the experimental group administrated 0.4ml of ethanol garlic extract. 4. The level of serum HDL-cholesterol had a tendency to be more increased in all the experimental groups administrated garlic than control group. 5. The level of serum glucose appeared to be decreased in all the experimental groups administrated garlic, particularly ethanol garlic extract.
Transesterification reactions (methyl methacrylate with diethanolamine, ethylene glycol with dimethylphthalate) were kinetically investigated in the presence of zinc compound catalysts at 120~170℃ The amount of reactants was measured by gas chromatography. and the reaction rates also measured from the amount of reaction products and reactants upon each catalyst. The transesterification reactions were carried out under the first order conditions respect to the concentration of reactants, respectively, The overall reaction order was 2nd. The apparent rate constant (k') was found to obey first kinetics with respect to the concentration of catalyst. It shows that according to an increase in basicity of anionic species the rate constant increase, and that a linear relationship exists between ln k and pKa in transesterification reaction of methyl methacrylate with diethanolamine.
Levels of total lipids in the seeds of three species of the Pinaceae family were determined and their fatty acid compositions were also analyzed by a gas-chromatograph equipped with a capillary column coated with Carbowax 20M. The results are summarized as follows: Lipid contents of the seeds amounted to 56.9% in P. koraiensis, 29.9% in P. thunbergii, and 21.2% in P. rigida. In all lipids 19~20 fatty acid were detected and, surprisingly, fatty acids having δ5-non-methylene interrupted conjugate double bond such as δ5, 9-C18:2,δ5, 9, 12-C18:3 and δ5, 11, 14-C20:3 occurred in appreciable amounts. In the lipids of P. koraiensis, the main component was C18:2Ω6(45.0%), followed by C18:1Ω 9(26.9%) and δ5, 9, 12-C18:3(14.6%), and then δ5, 9-C18:2(2.2%) and δ5, 11, 14-C20:3 were also present. Levels of saturated fatty acid such as C16:0 and C18:0 were as low as 7.5%. The seed oil of P. thunbergii predominantly comprised C18:2Ω6(45.2%), and was then occupied by equal amounts δ5, 9, 12-C18:3(18.1%) and C18:1Ω9(18.1%). Its δ5, 11, 14-C20:3(5.8%) level was the highest in the samples tested. δ5, 9-C18:2(2.8%) was also detected with other minor components. In the oils from the seeds of P. rigida, C18:2Ω6 was present as a main component, accompanied by C18:1Ω9(21.6%) and δ5, 9, 12-C18:3(20.3%). The latter showed higher level than in any other samples. A minor component corresponding to δ5, 9, 12, 15-C18:4(not confirmed by GC-Mass) occurred in P. thunbergii and P. rigida.
A microorganism, isolated from soil and designated Pseudomonas sp13, produced two kinds of rhamnolipid in the medium containing glucose as carbon source. There were both rhamnolipid contain L-rhamnose and β-hydroxydecanoic acid. Coumpound A and B elucted chloroform-methanol mixed solution of silicic acid column chromatography and recrystallized from a mixture of ether and n-hexane. Studies on the structure of these products reveled that compound A is L-rhamnopyranosyl-β-hydroxydecanoyl-β-hydroxydecanoic acid and compound B is L-rhamnopyranosyl-L-rhamnopyranosyl-β-hydroxydecanoyl-β-hydroxydecanoic acid.
The standardized activated sludge for the biodegradation test of anion surfactants has been produced from the collected microorganisms in the soil and the wastewaters treatment plant. The activated sludge was kept under control of the pH, dissolved oxygen, microorganisms and inoculated the basal medium flasks with LAS and LAS mixed with heavy metals [Cd(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)]. Based of results, the inhibition effect(%) of heavy metals in LAS biodegradation were 1. All 1% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 0.1mg/l, respectively 2. All 1~10% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 1mg/l, respectively 3. All 10~40% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 10mg/l, respectively 4. All 30~65% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 100mg/l, respectively And toxicity order of heavy metals to the microorganisms in LAS biodegradation were Cd〉Cu〉Zn in low concentration(0.1~1mg/l)and Cd〉Zn〉Cu in high concentration(10~100mg/l).
This study was designed evaluate the change of fat content according to cooking methods of ground beef. The results are summarized as follows. 1. The fat content of ground beef is the lowest in boiling cooking method. 2. The fatty-acids composition of ground beef is mainly palmitic and oleic acids. The fatty acids hardly change according to cooking methods. 3. P/S ratio is inclined to increase a bit after cooking than pre-cooking. From all the results obtained in this study it can be conclude that fat content is the lowest in boiling and microwaving cooking methods and fatty acid composition is mainly palmitic and oleic acids.
