        본 연구는 위장 단계의 소화과정에 관여하는 Gastric lipase (GL)를 반려견을 위한 정적 체외 소화모델(Static in vitro digestion model)에 적용을 검토하기 위하여 실시되었다. GL의 첨가가 체외 소화과정 동안 건물(Dry matter; DM), 조단백질(Crude protein; CP) 그리고 조지방(Ether extracts; EE) 소화율에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. GL은 위장 소화단계에서 첨가되었다. 위장(39℃, 2 hr.)과 소장(39℃, 4 hr.) 소화 후에 비소화 분획을 분리하였다. 그리고 실험사료와 분리된 비소화 분획에서 DM, CP 그리고 EE 수준을 측정하고 각각의 소화율을 계산하였다. 위장과 소장 소화단계에서 측정된 DM, CP 그리고 EE 소화율은 Control과 GL 그룹 사이에서 통계적으로 유의한 차이는 관찰되지 않았다(p>0.05). 결과적으로 우리의 체외 소화모델에서 GL의 첨가는 DM, CP 그리고 EE의 소화율에는 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 이와 같은 결과는 정적 체외 소화모델을 이용한 소화율의 평가에 있어서 GL의 역할은 다소 제한적일 수 있다는 것을 시사한다.

        This study was performed to investigate the ingredients and subsidiary feed production policies, actual condition, and understanding. The survey was conducted by e-mail about 60 feed companies in Korea. The results of the analysis on the production status and perception of the ingredients and subsidiary feed production facilities were summarized as follows. First, the most urgent problem to be solved for the development of a sustainable feed industry and development and stable supply of domestic and international feed resources. Second, the quality of feeds maintained a considerable level in comparison with the developed countries. Third, the production equipment for the introduction of the feed safety management system was after set conditon of introduction. Therefore, to develop a sustainable feed industry, we should proceed to secure reliable sources about fodder resources. In order to maintain a food quality, the role of feed safety inspection for imported feeds materials are more important. The government's various efforts are more necessary for the imported feeds test agencies to improve the reliability, satisfaction and a feed management system.

        본 연구는 보조기구 제공의 차이가 한우의 생산성에 미치는 영향을 통해 복지형 한우사육방안을 구명 함으로써 한우 복지형 사양관리의 합리적인 사육방법에 대한 기초자료를 제시하고자 실시하였다. 공시동 물은 18개월령의 한우 거세비육우 48두를 공시하여(410.63±8.76kg) 개방식 우사에서 10개월간 실시하 였다. 시험설계는 32m2의 우방에 4두씩 각각 대조구(무처리 관행구), 처리1구(개체관리용 카우브러쉬), 처리2구(놀이용 구조물), 처리3구(개체관리용 카우브러쉬 + 놀이용 구조물)로 입식하였다. 처리는 4처리 3반복으로 완전임의 배치하고 15일간 예비실험 후 수행하였다. 조사항목으로는 사양성적, 행동관찰, 혈 액성상, 도체성적 및 경제성을 각각 분석하였다. 시험결과 보조기구 제공에 따른 사양성적으로는 처리3 구에서 유의적(p<0.05)으로 우수한 경향을 나타냈고, 대조구에서 가장 낮은 사양성적을 보였다. 행동특 성 중 발현시간에서는 기립(standing)이 대조구에서 유의적(p<0.05)으로 높게 나타났으나, 섭식 (feeding), 횡와(lying) 및 걷기(walking)는 처리2구와 처리3구에서 유의적(p<0.05)으로 높게 나타났다. 빈도에 따른 행동특성에서는 음수(drinking)와 몸비비기(rubbing), 투쟁(fighting)을 제외한 모든 행동빈 도에서 유의적(p<0.05)인 차이를 보였다. 혈액성상에서는 대조구에서 백혈구와 cortisol 수치가 유의적 (p<0.05)으로 높았고, 도체성적 중 등지방두께 및 등심단면적 항목에서 대조구 < 처리1구 < 처리2구 < 처리3구 순으로 우수한 것으로 사양성적과 유사하게 동일한 패턴의 결과를 보였다. 근내지방도에서는 놀 이용 보조기구 제공에 따라 근내지방도 스코어는 향상되는 것으로 분석되었다. 또한, 출하에 따른 경제 성 분석결과로는 처리3구에서 총수익이 두당 178여만원으로 가장 높았고 대조구의 103여만원 보다 두당 75여만원의 추가 수익을 올린 것으로 분석되었다. 따라서, 본 시험결과를 바탕으로 보조기구의 제공이 한우 거세우의 사양성적, 행동발현, 혈액성상 및 도축성적에 긍정적인 경향을 미치는 것으로 판단되며, 향후 농가현장에 보급함으로써 한우산업 경쟁력 향상에 기여할 것이다.

        In experiment dealt with 240 Hanwoo (172 steers and 68 heifers) among the 456 cattle during growing and fattening period were used from 2004 to 2015. Growth period was divided into 6, 12, 18, and 24 months for steers and 6, 12, 18, and 43 months for heifers. The results showed that lying down, feeding, and drinking behavior increased according to the growth. In contrary, the time of locomotion behavior including standing and walking behavior were reduced. Aggressive behavior was observed to be mostly generated in the first 6-months. Thus the results showed that different growth period of Hanwoo steers can be used as management systems for breeding and disease management. It conclude that providing a comfortable living space is a useful management systems suppress stress to the minimum extent without giving unnecessary stress to the animals.

        농장동물복지형 한우 사양관리를 통한 고품질의 쇠고기 생산을 목표로 세계적인 트랜드에 부합하는 축산선진국으로 나아가기 위하여 본 시험으로 우방내 사육공간의 넓이차이에 따른 한우의 사양성적, 행 동특성 및 혈액성상에 미치는 영향을 비교·분석해 보았다. 16개월령의 한우 54두(암소 미경산공태우 및 거세우 각각 27두)를 공시하여 성별에 따라 사육공간의 넓이차이를 주기 위해 4두(8m2), 3두 (10.67m2) 및 2두(16m2)로 처리하여 9개월간 각각 3반복으로 완전 임의배치 후 실시하였으며, 한우 사 양관리 프로그램에 따라 사료급여를 하였다. 데이터 수집방법으로 증체량, 사료요구율 및 혈액분석은 2 개월 간격으로 반복하여 측정하였으며, 행동패턴 수집은 복수개체 추적방법 및 선택적 행동관찰법으로 기상청에서 제공한 맑은 날을 선정하여 15일간 녹화 후 분석에 이용하였다. 본 시험의 결과로, 사양성 적(체중, 일당증체량 및 사료요구율)의 경우 미경산공태우와 거세우 각각 20개월령과 18개월령 이후부 터 2두와 3두 처리구에서 모두 유의적(p<0.05)으로 향상되었다. 행동특성으로는 미경산공태우의 2두 처 리구에서 행동시간으로 기립행동은 유의적(p<0.05)으로 낮고, 횡와 및 걷기행동은 유의적(p<0.05)으로 높았다. 행동빈도에서는 음수, 자기몸핥기, 긁기, 몸비비기, 투쟁행동에서 유의적(p<0.05)으로 적게 나 타났다. 거세우의 2두 및 3두 처리구에서는 미경산공태우와 유사한 경향을 나타냈으나 유의적(p<0.05) 으로 섭식시간은 증가하고, 다른소핥기 및 몸기대기의 빈도는 유의적(p<0.05)으로 적게 나타났다. 혈액 성상으로 미경산공태우와 거세우의 4두 처리구에서 적혈구가 유의적(p<0.05)으로 낮았고, 콜티졸은 유 의적(p<0.05)으로 높게 나타났다. 또한, 미경산공태우의 헤모글로빈과 거세우의 백혈구 수치에서는 모 두 2두 처리구에서 유의적(p<0.05)으로 각각 높고 낮은 것으로 분석되었다. 이상의 결과를 종합하면 사 양성적, 행동특성 및 혈액성상 등의 전체적인 내용을 토대로 우사의 여유 및 표준우사의 우방크기를 고 려할 때 한우의 사육공간에서 관행사육인 4두 처리구(두당 8m2) 보다 미경산공태우는 2두 처리구(두당 16m2), 거세우는 3두 처리구(두당 10.67m2)로 사육하는 것이 적절하다고 판단되며, 본 시험결과는 추후 복지형 한우의 사양관리를 위한 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

        1. 1995년부터 2014년까지의 대북의 공공적 지원과 민간차 원으로서의 대북지원사업을 조사 연구하고 이미 발표된 통일 대비 축산지원정책 자료를 토대로 26개 설문문항을 작성, AHP방법을 이용 우선순위 분석결과를 다음과 같이 요약하 였다. 2. 평가대항목 중에서 공공성이 0.5229로 절반이상의 수치 를 보이고 2위로 기술성, 3위로 시장성의 순이며, 평가소항목 에서는 기술실현성 0.6220이 또한 높은 수치를 보이며 2위엔 시장성장성, 3위엔 국가전략과의 부합성 순이다. 3. 각 대항목과 소항목간의 종합가중치에선 공공성에서 국 가전략과의 부합성, 사회적 영향성, 산업적파급성 순으로 나타 났으며, 기술성 측면에서는 기술실현성, 기술파급성, 기술독창 성 순이고 시장성 측면에서는 시장성장성, 투자수익성, 시장규 모성 순으로 각각 나타났다. 4. 평가대안의 대북축산지원사업 우선순위 1위인 “지역특화 사업단지 조성”부터 26위인 “통일 후 축산지원방향 협의체구 성”까지의 지원사업 전체가 중요하다고 판단돼 정부의 미래 대북지원정책 수립과정에서 기초자료로 사용되었으면 한다. 또 한 26개 대북축산지원우선순위에 관해 전문가들에게 Delphi 설문조사방법을 시행하여 각각의 지원사업에 적절한 예산안 분배배치가 이루어질 필요성이 있다고 판단된다.

        The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of pen and group size on behavioral characteristics of Hanwoo steers. Forty-eight beef steers, all 15 months of age, were used in this study, and were assigned to 3 groups: control (4/35.28 ㎡), treatment 1 (8/70.56 ㎡), and treatment 2 (12/105.84 ㎡). In addition, behavioral characteristics were analyzed every 2 days in each month using CCTV cameras. Each behavior of the treatment group was observed significantly more frequently (p<0.05) than the corresponding behavior of the control group in summer, especially feeding behavior. In addition, no significant difference was observed between the treatment groups. Locomotion was observed for a significantly longer duration in the control group than in the treatment groups (p<0.05), and resting was observed for slightly longer in the treatment groups than in the control group. Fighting behavior, related to social status, was observed significantly more frequently in the control group than in the treatment groups (p<0.05). In winter, feeding behavior was observed for a significantly longer duration in the control group than in the treatment groups (p<0.05) On comparing the behavior of Hanwoo steers during different seasons, we found that the steers showed more resting behavior during summer and more feeding behavior and movement during winter. The above results suggest that the behavioral characteristics of Hanwoo steers depend on the pen and group size, based on the higher frequency of fighting, rubbing, and scratching observed in the treatment groups than in the control group. The results also suggest that the behavioral characteristics of Hanwoo steers depend on the environmental conditions, as shown by the seasonal differences in behavior. Under conditions of high temperature stress, Hanwoo steers showed increased lying down, drinking and grooming behavior to counter this stress. The findings of this study can be applied to management practices for animal welfare and producticon of cattle in both growing and fattening periods.

        The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different rearing spaces on growth performances, behavioral traits, and blood parameters in Hanwoo (Korean Native Cattle) heifers and steers. The average daily gain and feed conversion ratio were measured to assess the growth performance. A total of 54 Hanwoo heifers and steers at 18 months old, were housed separately in groups of 2, 3 or 4 heads in a pen (32 m2) for nine months. In the case of the heifers, the growth performances were significantly (p<0.05) improved by increasing the 2 head group size with the exception of the 18 month old heifers. However, among the steers the growth performances were significantly enhanced (p<0.05) after 18 months of age, by increasing the 3 heads group size. In addition, the heifers in groups of 2 heads spent less time standing and more time lying down or walking, and also had a significantly (p<0.05) lower frequency of self-grooming, scratching, and fighting. These findings are similar to the results obtained for steers housed in 2 or 3 heads per group. The steers housed in 2, 3 heads groups spent more time feeding and consequently had a significantly (p<0.05) lower frequency of pair-wise grooming and Leaning. The heifers and steers housed in groups of 4 heads showed lowest red blood cell counts, but highest cortisol content with statistical significance at p<0.05. The heifers in groups of 2 heads had the highest hemoglobin concentrations (p<0.05). On the other hand, white blood cell count was found to be the lowest in groups of 2 steers with statistical significance at p<0.05. We conclude that a large rearing space improved growth performances, behavioral characteristics, and blood parameters in Hanwoo heifers and steers. In the future, this data could be used to improve the welfare of rearing Hanwoo cattle.

        This study aims to examine the effects of taping of the ankle joint on the static and dynamic balance and gait ability of stroke patients. Twenty-six stroke patients receiving physical therapy at a hospital located in Gyeonggi-do were divided equally into a group that had taping in physical therapy and an ordinary physical therapy group. They exercised for 30 minutes each, 3 times per week for 8 weeks from June to August 2011. Romberg’s eye open and eye closed tests, limits of stability(LOS), forward and back test, timed up and go test(TUG) and 10-meter gait velocity test were performed to evaluate static balance, dynamic balance, and gait ability, respectively, prior to and 8 weeks after the intervention. Differences within each group in relation to the lapse of time were compared by a paired t-test. Differences between the two groups were compared by an independent t-test. Regarding comparison of differences within each group, all tests resulted in significant changes in both groups after the intervention (p<.05). Comparison of differences between the two groups showed that taping in the physical therapy group had significantly better test results than the ordinary physical therapy group in all measured items(p<.05). The after effects of ankle taping on stroke patients are more efficient and effective than ordinary physical therapy alone in improving balance and gait ability.

        A 10-year-old intact female Cocker Spaniel weighing 15.3 kg presented with dysbasia. The dog had hyperglycemia and glucosuria at presentation. Neurological examination and magnetic resonance imaging on the following day indicated the onset of cervical disk disease. Four days later, the patient returned due to sudden vomiting and anorexia with severe dehydration. Abnormal laboratory findings included severe hyperglycemia with ketonuria. Plasma progesterone concentration was very high at presentation. She was hospitalized for critical care, and insulin administration with fluid therapy was initiated. Mean blood glucose concentration showed a gradual decline, and hyperglycemia with glucosuria disappeared four days after initiation of insulin therapy. This case demonstrated that high plasma progesterone concentration during diestrus can contribute to development of diabetes mellitus in intact female dogs.

        Mungbean (Vigna radiata) is a fast-growing, warm-season legume crop that is primarily cultivated in developing countries of Asia. We constructed a draft genome sequence of mungbean to facilitate genome research into the subgenus Ceratotropis and to enable a better understanding of the evolution of leguminous species. The draft genome sequence covers 80% of the estimated genome, of which 50.1% consists of repetitive sequences. In total, 22,427 high confidence protein-coding genes were predicted. Based on the de novo assembly of additional wild mungbean species, the divergence of what was eventually domesticated and the sampled wild mungbean species appears to have predated domestication. Moreover, the de novo assembly of a tetraploid Vigna species (Vigna reflexo-pilosa var. glabra) provided genomic evidence of a recent allopolyploid event. To further study speciation, we compared de novo RNA-seq assemblies of 22 accessions of 18 Vigna species and protein sets of Glycine max and Cajanus cajan. The species tree was constructed by a Bayesian Markov chain Monte Carlo method using highly confident orthologs shared by all 24 accessions. The present assembly of V. radiata var. radiata will facilitate genome research and accelerate molecular breeding of the subgenus Ceratotropis.

        R genes are a key component of genetic interactions between plants and biotrophic bacteria and are known to regulate resistance against bacterial invasion. The most common R proteins contain a nucleotide-binding site and a leucine-rich repeat (NBS-LRR) domain. Some soybean NBS-LRR genes have also been reported to function in disease resistance. A total of 319 genes were determined to be putative NBS-LRR genes in the soybean genome. The number of NBS-LRR genes on each chromosome was highly correlated with the number of disease resistance QTL in the 2-Mb flanking regions of NBS-LRR genes. In addition, the recently duplicated regions contained duplicated NBS-LRR genes and duplicated disease resistance QTL, and possessed either an uneven or even number of NBS-LRR genes on each side. The significant difference in NBS-LRR gene expression between a resistant near-isogenic line (NIL) and a susceptible NIL after inoculation of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. glycines supports the conjecture that NBS-LRR genes have disease resistance functions in the soybean genome. The number of NBS-LRR genes and disease resistance QTL in the 2-Mb flanking regions of each chromosome was significantly correlated, and several recently duplicated regions that contain NBS-LRR genes harbored disease resistance QTL for both sides. In addition, NBS-LRR gene expression was significantly different between the BLP-resistant NIL and the BLP-susceptible NIL in response to bacterial infection. From these observations, NBS-LRR genes are suggested to contribute to disease resistance in soybean. Moreover, we propose models for how NBS-LRR genes were duplicated, and apply Ks values for each NBS-LRR gene cluster.

        Next generation sequencing (NGS) approaches can also be useful tool for characterization of organelle genomes. We generated chloroplast (CP) genome sequences of two Korean ginseng cultivars, Chunpoong and Yunpoong, based on reference-guided assembly using whole genome NGS data. We used 0.5x of P. ginseng genome NGS reads to assemble CP genome. Of the NGS reads used, about 6% were mapped to the reference CP genome with mean coverage of 94x due to high copy number of CP genome in plant cell. CP genomes of the two cultivars were predicted to be 156,248 bp and 156,355 bp in length and showed about 0.1% differences at nucleotide level, compared to reference CP genome sequenced from P. ginseng (Acc.no. NC_006290), whereas difference between CP genomes of the two cultivars is very rare. In this study, we developed the molecular marker to perform taxon identification and also to elucidate phylogenetic relationship among Korean ginseng cultivars. Now, we are analyzing the CP genomes of other P. ginseng cultivars together with other Panax species including American ginseng and Panax related species.

        Miniature inverted- repeat transposable elements are expected to play vital role in evolution of genes and genome of major eukaryotic organisms. However, there have been little reports on MITEs in B. rapa, a polyploidy model genome. We identified 13 novel MITE families in B. rapa genome by computational approach. Out of 13 MITEs families three, eight and two were classified under stowaway-like, tourist-like and hAT super families based on their unique structural characteristics. We characterized the members of 13 MITE families from the available 256 Mbp from whole genome draft sequences of B. rapa. We found ech MITE has high copiy number ranges from 14 to 977 which are distributed randomly along all the chromosomes. We also found more than 40% of the MITE members were associated with genes and gene rich regions. Furthermore, the polymorphism due to insertion and non-insertion of MITEs analysis suggest that MITEs are active in the genome. As, such the newly identified MITEs will provide a foundation for the further analysis of roles of MITEs in gene and genome evolution.

        Chinese cabbage (Brassica rapa ssp. pekinensis) is one of the most important vegetables and widely cultivated in Asia countries including Korea and China. Recently, whole genome sequence and full-length cDNA information of this species became available, which are encouraging genetic studies of this species to characterize agricultural important traits. Orange-colored (Or) cultivar of Chinese cabbage has inner leaves in orange, whereas other cultivars generally cultivated have yellow (Ye)- or white-colored inner leaves. In this study, we investigated phenotypes and carotenoid biosynthesis genes related to color variation in the Or cultivar. Firstly we compared the carotenoid content and composition between the Or and Ye cultivars by HPLC analysis. The inner leaves of Or cultivar contained approximately 9-fold high β-carotene content, whereas content of both lutein and violaxanthin was decreased to less than 30%, compared to Ye cultivar. Or cultivar was segregated with ratio of 3:1 in F2 population derived from crossing between Or and Ye inbred lines, indicating that Or phenotype is controlled by single recessive gene. To identify this gene, we investigated the expression of several genes involved in carotenoid biosynthesis by RT-PCR analysis. Among genes tested, two encoding putative carotenoid isomerase (CRTISO) and phytoene desaturase (PDS) were identified to show different expression between Or and Ye cultivars. Through further analysis of genomic DNA regions of these two genes, we could expect that several mutations such as InDel and base-substitution occurred and then affected expression of these genes in Or cultivar. In this presentation, I will introduce more detailed results for Or cultivars.

        family in the Brassica genome sequences by computational approach. The MITE family showed a total of 264bp length including 36bp terminal inverted repeats and remained 2bp (TA) targets it eduplication by its insertion. By searching the genome database of Brassica species, 516, 227, and 15 members were identified from 470Mbp of Brassica oleraceae, 154Mbp of B.rapa and 15Mbp of B.napus, respectively, indicating that there are approximately 692, 760, 1235 copies in B.oleracea, B.rapa and B.napus genomes,respectively. A total of 225 relatively intact MITE members, 146,68, and 11 members, which showed >80% sequence similarity and sequence coverage were identified and retrieved for MITE analysis from B.oleracea, B.rapa and B.napus genomes, respectively. Out of 225 MITE family members 159 having full structure of MITE and 66 having the truncated end either in right TIR or left TIR. Insertion polymorphism due to insertion or non-insertion of MITEs showed high level of polymorphism among accessions intra and inter species of Brassica. The new MITE would provide abetter tool for study molecular breeding in Brassica species and also helpful to understand their contribution in evolution and diversification of the highly duplicated Brassica genome.

        Perilla is a genus as a member of the mint family Lamiaceae which is known to contain lots of volatile metabolite. Perilla has been called as ‘deulkae’ indicating ‘wild sesame’ that means it has been maintained in Korea with long history. It has been very friendly used as edible oil and as fresh leaf vegetable. Perilla oil is valued for its medicinal benefit because it contains best amounts of unsaturated fatty acids, especially for the alpha-linolenic acid, known to omega-3 fatty acid, among all of the plant oils. It also include many beneficial phytochemicals. However, little study is conducted on their genetics. Here, we announce construction of well normalized and full length enriched-perilla cDNA library from a whole plant of one cultivar ‘Youngho-deulkae’ and their sequence characterization to provide useful resources for genetics, breeding and metabolite engineering. By sequencing of 5,760 cDNA clones, we 5,438 high quality EST sequences. Sequence trimming and assembly resulted 3,995 unigenes which consists 1,004 contigs and 2,991 singletones. Unigenes that showed little homology at the DNA sequence level with known genes in other plants even though they showed similarity at the protein domain level based on BLASTN, BLASTX, and TBLASTX. This study may provide good resources for initiation of further genomics, comparative genomics, functional genomics such as metabolic engineering and molecular breeding.
