        본 연구는 D도시 소재 A 노인요양시설에서 근무중인 요양보호사를 대 상으로 왜 대부분의 요양보호사는 여성이며, 특히 연령대는 왜 대부분 50~60대인지, 그리고 요양보호사로의 삶에서 나타나는 사회적 문제들은 무엇인지 도출하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 본 연구는 질적 연구 방법 중 하나인 해석적 현상학을 활용하여 요양보호사들의 경험을 심층적으로 탐 구하였다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 최종적으로 4가지 테마를 도출하였다. 1) 대다수가 여성인 이유 2) 요양보호사의 직업적 특성 3) 직업적 현실과 사회적 기대 4) 작업환경과 사회적 인식이 이에 해당한다. 이러한 연구 결과에 기반하여 요양보호사의 근로환경 개선 및 복지향상을 위한 정책 적 지원 방안을 제안하고자 한다.

        본 연구는 북한이탈여성 노인의 성공적 노화 척도개발과 신뢰도, 타당 도를 검증하기 위한 연구이다. 연구자는 북한이탈여성 노인 20명을 심층 면담하여 구성요소를 설정했다. 포커스 그룹을 걸쳐 북한이탈여성 노인 의 성공적 노화 척도 예비문항을 개발했다. 이러한 작업을 수행한 후 문 항분석, 상관관계 분석, 탐색적 요인분석, 확인적 요인분석을 실시하여 척도의 신뢰도와 타당도를 검증했다. 연구결과 4요인 모델, 5요인 모델, 6요인 모델 모두 적합도 검증 결과 판정기준을 만족하는 것으로 분석했 다. 적합도 지수가 높게 나타난 6요인 모델을 최종적으로 선정했다. 연 구결과에 근거하여 북한이탈여성 노인에게 특징적으로 나타난 죽음인식, 자기성장, 모호한 상실 속에서의 가족 애착 등에 대한 논의를 했다.

        A checklist of dietary behavior items for the elderly was developed based on Korean dietary guidelines. First, a literature review was conducted, and 63 preliminary items, including 30 items on food intake, 12 on eating habits, and 21 on dietary culture, were obtained to evaluate the dietary guidelines. The preliminary items were evaluated by experts using Lawshe’s method to verify the content validity. They were then revised, resulting in 52 items: 25, 11, and 16 in the food intake, eating habits, and dietary culture domains, respectively. A face-to-face survey was conducted on 331 people over 65 years of age in the metropolitan area, and their one-day food intake was surveyed using a 24-hour recall method in August 2022. The 48 items, including 24, 11, and 13 items on food intake, eating habits, and dietary culture, respectively, correlated significantly with the evaluation indicators of nutrient intake, such as mean adequacy ratio, dietary diversity score, and nutrient intake density. These items were considered suitable for evaluating the elderly's compliance with dietary guidelines.

        목적 : 미세먼지가 젊은층과 노년층의 눈물막에 영향을 미치는지 알아보고자 미세먼지 농도 수준에 따라 눈물의 양, 안정성 및 지질층 두께 변화를 평가하였다. 방법 : 안질환이 없는 20대와 60대 각각 25명(총 50명)이 참석하였고, 한국환경공단에서 제공된 미세먼지 좋 음 수준(0~30 ㎍/m³)과 나쁨 수준(51~100 ㎍/m³)에서 각각 이들을 대상으로 눈물 검사를 하였다. 눈물양은 OCCUTUBE(OccuTech Co., Seongnam, Korea)로, 눈물막 안정성은 침습성눈물막파괴시간(TBUT), 비침습성 눈물막파괴시간(NIBUT)로 지질층 두께는 Lipiview® 로 평가하였으며, 건성안 관련 증상은 OSDI 설문지를 이용 하여 평가하였다. 미세먼지 수준에 따른 비교는 SPSS version 21.0(SPSS Inc, Chicago, IL, USA)를 사용하여 분석하였다. 결과 : 젊은층과 노년층 모두 미세먼지 나쁨 수준인 날에서는 눈물의 양과 안정성이 미세먼지 좋음 수준인 날과 비교하여 유의하게 감소하였으나(p<0.050), 지질층 두께와 OSDI 설문값은 미세먼지 수준에 따라 젊은층과 노년층에서 모두 유의한 차이가 없었다. 미세먼지 농도가 증가할수록 OCCUTUBE 검사값과 TBUT 와 NIBUT는 감소하는 상관성을 보였으며, 노년층의 상관계수(r=0.35, p<0.001, r=0.47, p<0.001, r=0.52, p<0.001, respectively)가 젊은층의 상관계수(r=0.34, p<0.001, r=0.37, p<0.001, r=0.40, p<0.001, respectively)보다 다소 높았다. 결론 : 미세먼지는 젊은층과 노년층에의 눈물의 양과 안정성을 감소시켜 건성안 유발요인으로 작용할 것으로 사료된다.

        목적 : 본 연구는 델파이 기법을 활용하여 한국 주거문화의 특성을 반영한 가정환경개선 평가항목을 개발 하고자 한다. 연구방법 : 문헌검색을 통해 기존 평가도구의 문항을 고찰하고, 전문가 그룹의 토의 및 서술식 의견수렴 과정을 통해 초기 문항을 작성하였다. 수정된 델파이 기법을 적용하여 총2회기의 전문가 패널 조사를 실시하였다. 1차 델파이 조사에서는 가정환경개선 분야에 종사하고 있는 13명의 작업치료사 및 작업치료학과 교수를 대상으로 문항적합성 평가를 진행하였다. 1차 델파이 결과를 바탕으로 전문가 위원회를 통해 문항 수정을 하였고, 2차 델파이 조사를 통해 최종적으로 개발된 항목들의 적합성을 확인하였다. 결과 : 평가문항은 주거양식에 따라 공동주택형과 단독주택형의 2가지의 다른 항목들을 개발하였다. 공동주 택형은 9개 영역의 56문항 이었고, 단독주택형은 10개 영역의 62 문항이 선정되었다. 공동주택형 문항의 내용타당도는 .99, 안정도 .12, 수렴도 .26, 합의도 .89이었고, 단독주택형 문항의 내용타당도는 1.00, 안정도 .11, 수렴도 .28, 합의도 .72이었다. 결론 : 본 연구는 한국의 주거환경 및 생활양식을 반영하여 노인의 가정환경을 평가하는 항목을 개발하고자 하였다. 본 연구에서 개발한 한국형 가정환경개선 평가항목이 추후 지역사회 가정환경개선 서비스에서 널리 활용되기를 기대한다.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate the current status of chronic diseases according to obesity in the elderly older than age 65 using data from the 7th Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2016~2018). The subjects of the survey were 3,245 elderly older than age 65 who participated in the health survey and nutrition survey, 45.8% of the subjects were males and 54.2% of the subjects were female. 37.5% of all the elderly were obese, and the females (42.4%) were more obese than the males (31.8%) (p<0.001). Diabetes, hypertension, and hypertriglyceridemia had a similar prevalence of 24.6%, 63.0%, and 12.7% in males and females, respectively. Hypercholesterolemia was higher in the elderly females (44.2%) than in the elderly males (24.9%) (p<0.001). Through the logistic regression analysis, it was found that the prevalence of chronic diseases was higher in obesity than normal in elderly males and females (p<0.001). The total food intake increased from ‘under weight’ to ‘obesity’ in males (p<0.01) and females (p<0.001). In the case of the elderly males, the higher the degree of obesity, the higher the energy intake (p<0.05), and ‘pre-obesity’ consumed the most energy in elderly females. As a result of this study, the higher the obesity rate of the elderly, the higher the prevalence of chronic diseases.

        The number of healthy older adults is rapidly increasing recently owing to the increase of the elderly population. Therefore, programs for improving the cognitive functions of these healthy seniors are actively being expanded. This study aimed to prevent the decline of cognitive function due to aging by applying a program enhancing cognitive functions to healthy older adults. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of Korean computer-based cognitive rehabilitation program (CoTras), which is commonly used in cognitive therapy for the aging, on the memory of the elderly. The subjects had scored at least 24 points in MMSE-K. CoTras was applied once a week (30 minutes) for one month. Electronic pegboard programs were used as an evaluation tool: order memory (difficulty=low) and location memory (difficulty=medium). The order and location memories were compared before and after the intervention. The Wilcoxon signed rank-sum test was used for the study at the significance level of α=.05. The results showed that CoTras significantly improved order memory and location memory. Therefore, CoTras can be applied to the healthy elderly for improving that memory improvement training has a positive impact on healthy older adults result in the development of memory enhancement programs can be expanded in the future.

        This study was conducted to develop easily chewable Korean rice cake (Garaedduk) for the elderly while maintaining its original form and flavor. We developed two types of easy-to-chew Garaedduk products by adding starch-degrading enzyme or trehalose, respectively. Characteristics of Garaedduk products were investigated and comparative analysis was carried out between control and experimental groups. The water content of control and enzyme-added Garaedduk was 43.55% and 44.11%, respectively, which was significantly higher than trehalose-added Garaedduk (40.30%) as free water content was reduced by the formation of hydrogen bonds between trehalose and water molecules. Due to the browning of reducing sugar produced by the decomposition of rice starch, Hunter b-value of enzyme-added Garaedduk was significantly higher compared to others. Hardness, adhesiveness, gumminess, and chewiness of experimental groups were lower than the control group. Consumer test scores showed significant differences with respect to overall liking, chewiness, and swallowing between control and experimental groups. Elderly preferred experimental Garaedduks over control and the experimental groups were evaluated to be softer, easily chewable, and swallowable.

        An objective classification of commercial thickened foods was studied for Korean elderly people with swallowing difficulty as based on rheological properties. A total of 16 commercial products (grain porridges, vegetable porridges, meat porridges, fish and shellfishes porridges, nut porridges) were measured using a stress-controlled rheometer with stainless steel plate-plate geometry and building material cell. Joint consideration has been made of viscous behavior (flow and thixotropy) and viscoelastic behavior (oscillatory testing). Rheological measurements were fitted to different rheological and empirical mathematical models, and a total of 11 parameters were generated. Based on these parameters and the use of fuzzy clustering and the c-means method, an objective classification of all the products was obtained. 16 commercial products were divided to 3 clusters. Each class has been defined from the parameters of the centroids generated by the classification method used - thus allowing us to know the common rheological characteristics of any of the products belonging to a given class. The results of this classification encourage further to develop of the new products for Korean elderly people.

        지금까지의 노인자살 연구들은 대부분이 노인자살에 관한 이론적 조망과 그에 따른 노인자살 요인들을 파악하는 데 집중되어 왔다. 그래서 노인자살의 예방대책에 관한 논의는 개괄적이고 제안적인 수준에 머 무르고 있다. 현재 우리나라는 자살사고를 효과적으로 예방하기 위한 자살예방사업 및 인프라가 극히 미비한 상태이 며 특히 노인자살의 특수성이 정책에 반영되지 못하고 있다. 우리사회에서 사회적 이슈가 되고 있는 노인 자살문제에 대해 효과적이고 실효성 있는 정책과 대안을 제시하기 위해서는 노인자살에 대한 정확한 특성 과 실태에 대한 분석이 필요하다. 이에 본 연구자는 통계청에서 제시하고 있는 마이크로데이터를 활용해 MDIS(MicroData Integrated Service)에서 2017년 10월 31일 공개된 통계 기초자료(Microdata)인 인구동향조사 「2016년 사망(원인) 통계」마이크로데이터를 수집하여 우리나라 자살에 대한 특성 및 실 태를 역학적으로 분석하였으며, 실천적이고 정책적인 제언을 제시하였다. 분석방법은 자살통계 데이터를 중심으로 첫째, 자살자의 인구사회학적 특성, 및 자살특성을 파악하기 위해 빈도분석 및 기술통계분석을 실시하였고. 둘째, 인구사회학적 특성에 따른 자살특성 차이를 알아보기 위해 교차분석을 실시하였다.

        This study was performed to determine the prevalence and associated risk factors of osteoarthritis in the elderly using the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013~2014 KNHANES VI). A total of 2,148 (936 males, 1212 females) elderly participants aged 65 years or older were selected. Prevalence of osteoarthritis was higher in 460 female (80.7%) and 167 rural (29.1%) groups, than in 110 male (19.3%) and 404 urban (70.9%) groups. While the mean values of LDL-cholesterol, triglyceride level, and waist circumference were significantly higher in the osteoarthritis group than the normal group, other parameters including height, HDL-cholesterol, fasting blood glucose, hemoglobin and hematocrit values were not. Quality of life (EQ-5D) was also significantly lower in the osteoarthritis group. The results of logistic regression analysis showed that smoking, alcohol intake, obesity, hypercholesterolemia and energy intakes were significantly different in regards to the prevalence of osteoarthritis. This study suggests that obesity and energy intakes were associated with osteoarthritis, whereas risk factors of chronic disease, such as hypertension, Hypo-high density lipoprotein, hypertriglyceridemia, anemia, diabetes, vigorous physical activity, moderate physical activity and walking were not. Long-term prospective study is necessary to investigate the effects of these factors on osteoarthritis.

        The consumption of high-salt foods is an independent risk factor for increased hypertension. Thus, evaluating the relationship of taste sensitivity and pleasantness of high-salt foods such as Korean jang products, would help contribute to an understanding of salty food eating behaviors of the Korean rural elderly. This study aimed to verify the association between taste sensitivity and salinity of Korean jang products, and the preferences of food groups and nutrient intake in the rural elderly. We studied 269 elderly persons (males 83, females 186) aged above 65 years, residing in the rural area, Sunchang gun Jeonbuk. For each subject, a recognition threshold of 4 basic tastes and pleasant concentrations of NaCl were estimated using the sip- and–spit method. Taste preferences, frequency of intake of food groups, nutrient intakes, and salinity and sweetness of Korean jang products (Doenjang, Ganjang, Gochujang) were assessed. No association was found between salt taste recognition threshold and optimally preferred concentration of salt and salinity of Korean jang products. However, the sweet taste recognition threshold was positively related to the sweetness of Korean jang products. Also, the salinity of Doenjang positively correlated with the frequencies of food groups and nutrient intakes. That is to say that the sweet taste sensitivity was related to the sweetness of Korean jang products, but was not sensitive to the salty taste. The salinity of Doenjang correlated with the consumption of food and nutrient intakes. Taken together, these findings suggest the need for appropriate intervention and education to reduce the salinity of Doenjang, which is an important modifiable factor contributing to reducing sodium intake in the rural elderly.

        한국은 저출산 현상과 평균수명의 증가로 고령화가 빨리 진행되고 있으며 이는 여러 가지 노인문제를 야기하고 있다. 노인들에게 발생하는 문제는 건강, 빈곤, 고독, 무력감 등이며 여러 가지 요소들이 결합되어 복합적으로 나타난다는 점과 다시 회복할 수 있는 방법과 시간이 부족하다는 점에서 해결이 어려운 문제이기도 하다. 본 논문에서는 문학 작품에 나타난 노인문제를 추출하여 분석하였다. 소설에 언급된 노인 문제는 경제 능력의 상실과 고립감, 독거노인의 빈곤과 고독사, 숨기려고 하지만 엄연히 존재하는 노인의 성문제 등이다. 노인문제는 노인의 사회적 역할이 감소하고 국가적 재원의 한계 등으로 인해 해결에 소극적인 면이 있지만 누구나 노인이 된다는 점에서 우리 모두의 문제인 것이다.

        The present paper proposes an categorization of commercial fluid products. A total of 21 commercial fluid products were analyzed(porridges, universal design foods, foods for special medical purposes) corresponding to 11 different commercial brands. Joint consideration has been made of viscous behavior (flow and thixotropy) and viscoelastic behavior (oscillatory testing). Rheological measurements were fitted to different rheological mathematical models, and a total of 4 parameters were generated. Our results correspond to three different classes. The three defined classes have been named in a way similar those most commonly used in the literature. Each class has been defined from the parameters allows us to know the common rheological characteristics of any of the products belonging to a given class.

        Seniors have more economic power, leisure time and better health compared with the past; in addition, there with increased social activity opportunities that allow for active and independent consumption activities based on their economic independence. Therefore, the silver industry for elderly consumers is buoyant in the development of product planning and marketing strategies that target seniors. It is necessary to know the exact characteristics of advanced age along with feet studies that provide basic information on the shape of shoes; however, there are few studies on elderly men's feet. This study develops a shoe sizing system for elderly men based on previous studies which analyzed the aspects of sole shape for individuals aged 60 or over. The distribution on KS G 3405 (2001) was examined and basic items were selected based on a correlation analysis of items related to foot shape. The measurement interval was based on KS and cross analysis was conducted for basic items to select an interval which indicated a frequency of more than 5% by type with a measurement system established by type. The results of the study are as follow. A sizing system was developed with an interval of 5 mm for foot length, an interval of 3 mm for the circumference of the top of the foot and an interval of 6 mm for the circumference of the top of the foot within the same foot length standard to develop a shoe sizing system for elderly men. The respective sizing systems in accordance with type were developed and 12 types of sizing systems were suggested for elderly men to reflect characteristics by type. The differences in sizing system were compared by combining sizing systems by type of sole for elderly men. Type H consists of the greatest number of foot length sections using 7 sections of foot length at 235-265 mm, Type A consists of 6 sections of foot length at 240-265 mm and Type V and D consist of 6 sections of foot length at 235-260 mm. The circumference of the top of the foot has 7 sections from C to F; Type H and A consist of C-EEEE and Type V consists of 6 sections of D-F, and Type D consists of 5 sections of D-EEEE. Type H and A include the sections of small circumference of the top of the foot; however, Type V includes the sections of large circumference of the top of the foot and Type D includes the section of small foot length and a large circumference that indicated differences between type. Type H, subtype 1 (the frontal part of the foot is high and the central part of the foot is low) and 2 (the frontal part of the foot is low and the central part of the foot is high) shows the distribution of size appellation in the sections of C-D where the circumference of the top of the foot is smaller than subtype 3 (the frontal part of the foot is low and the central part of the foot is low) that indicated that the size table is suggested with the reflection of size appellation only for Type H of small width and large height. Appellations are classified in accordance with 3-dimensional type in the section less than 240 mm of foot length. Type V show the same distribution of the appellation (including the section of D-EEE) for all the three types, except for a part of the section of 260 mm. The size appellations of subtypes 2 and 3 are distributed in section F, which indicates the formative characteristics of the foot with a large width or height. Type A has differences in appellation distribution between 3-dimensional types; subtype 2 is distributed in the small circumference section and indicates that Type A has the foot shape with a small width and high height. The distribution of size appellation of subtypes 3 and 1 with the section of large circumference suggests that subtype 3 of Type A (the foot shape with the largest width) has no large foot length and subtype 1 has a large foot length. Type D has differences in appellation among three subtypes, but all of them are included in subtype 1 and suggests that the subtype 1 sizing system can be used. The results indicate that a shoe sizing system for elderly men by foot type could improve the suitability of shoes and provide a wider range of size and satisfaction that helps shoe makers produce shoes of various purpose and function for seniors.

        The aim of this study was to investigate the change in women’s somatotype with aging. The subjects were 1,123 women aged 40~69. Their anthropometric data were from the 6th Size Korea. The data were analyzed by factor analysis and cluster analysis. Seven factors were extracted: body mass, body length, back shoulder, arm length factor, front interscye factor, body rise factor, and shoulder angle. The upper body types of middle-aged and elderly women were classified into five types: skinny, short stout body type with forward posture, composite, tall & full body type, and short & skinny. The skinny and composite body type appeared more often than the short stout body type in the early 40s of Korean women. Starting in the mid-50s, composite body type was less often found. However, the number of women with short stout body type increased. In the 60s, the number of women with short stout and tall & full body types decreased. These results reveal that the body types of middle-aged and elderly women changed with some pattern with aging. And women in their early 40s, mid-50s, and 60s women had different body shapes and postures.

        The purpose of this study was to examine the current status of patents related to dietary life of the elderly in Korea. Using Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service, patents registered between 2002 and 2013 were searched with the key words including 'elderly or the aged' and 'food, meal, or dietary life.' The search results showed 1,438 patents, and 500 patents meeting the research purpose were selected and analyzed. They were divided into two categories: 'patents on foods' and 'patents on products and services related to dietary life.' The former was further divided into four subgroups as follows: foods for health promotion, foods for disease prevention, foods for the people with difficulty in swallowing and masticating, and others. Also, the latter was divided into products or services. The results showed that patents on foods accounted for about 90%, of which the patents on foods for health promotion were ranked as the highest (40%). The number of patents on products and services related to dietary life was relatively small, indicating that the technology development has been focused on foods. Therefore, the technology for products and services related to dietary life should be actively developed as well as that for foods to improve the quality of life for the elderly in the future.

        This study was performed to investigate the characteristics of nutrient intake according to metabolic syndrome in Korean elderly. Data on 1,200 elderly (men 545, women 655) over 65 years was obtained from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2010. The subjects were divided into metabolic syndrome (MetS) and normal groups based on NCEP-ATP III guidelines and by applying the Asia-Pacific definition with waist circumference. The prevalence of MetS was 48.9% in all subjects, 35.6% in men and 58.9% in women, respectively. All nutrient intake was significantly lower in MetS than normal subjects, except iron, vitamin A, carotene, and retinol. In the carbohydrate: protein: fat (C:P:F) ratio, MetS showed a higher rate for carbohydrate, but a lower rate for protein and fat than normal. MetS was lower in calcium, vitamin B1, and vitamin C by the nutrient adequacy ratio than normal. Mean adequacy ratio of MetS (0.69) was lower than that of the normal group (0.72). These results demonstrated that undernutrition, not excess intake of specific nutrients - energy, fat, or cholesterol was associated with the risk for MetS in Korean elderly with MetS. Therefore, it is recommended to have a healthy dietary pattern with diverse nutrients for the prevention of MetS.

        The elderly is a target group for health functional foods (HFFs). We surveyed 825 Korean elderly (71.4- years-of-age) for HFF use and significant variables for HFF use including demographic characteristics, health related variables, and nutritional beliefs. The prevalence of HFF use was 48.7%, and among all types of HFF, red ginseng products were eaten most frequently, followed by ginseng products, nutritional supplements, and mushroom products. The mean age of users of HFFs was lower than nonusers (p<.01). HFFs were eaten more frequently by subjects from families living with a spouse or unmarried children (p<.01) and those with higher levels of monthly pocket money (p<.001). HFFs were also eaten more frequently by subjects or their spouses with a higher education level (p<.001). The social activity participation ratio (p<.01) of subjects and the HFF usage ratio by the spouse (p<.001) were higher in users of HFF than in nonusers. Dietary assessment scores were not different between the two groups, and users had a more positive view concerning the potential health benefits of HFFs than did nonusers (p<.001). Most users of HFF ate HFFs "when they were healthy" (52.2%) and experienced some effect through HFF use (45.8%). Most users of HFFs received information on HFFs through their families or relatives (38.1%) and most purchased HFFs at the pharmacy or oriental medicine clinic (44.8%). HFF users preferred multivitamin- and Ca-supplements most among the vitamin and mineral supplements belonged to HFFs. The above results show that HFF use is widely spread among subjects, and that use of HFF is influenced by various factors. Thus, practical guidelines for HFF use should be provided for the elderly through elderly focused-nutrition education based upon significant variables and consumption behaviors for their HFF use of present study.
