        The current research introduces a novel relationship between consumer attitudes toward time and consumer well-being, connected to organic food consumption based on the findings from 206 American consumers. Consumer motivations to seek nutritional information appears as a mediator impacting organic food purchase intentions. Practical and theoretical implications are discussed.

        On the one hand, organic food consumption has emerged as a rapidly growing consumption trend, juxtaposed against the unsustainability of industrialized food provisions. On the other hand, recent reports highlight that premium food consumption is one of the fastest growing luxury market segments worldwide. This paper draws on the theory of social practices in order investigate how organic food consumption can be understood as an emerging luxury fashion trend, comprised of multiple interrelated ‘nexuses of doings and sayings’ that represent the elements of, and situated within the broader context of consumer culture. In this endeavour, we have conducted a situated investigation of organic food consumption in South Korea. Our findings illustrate that Korean consumers engage in organic food consumption not merely for their superior health benefits or sustainability concerns. Instead, organic consumption conveys three distinct consumption value types – namely, functional (e.g., superior quality), experiential (e.g., feeling better about themselves because they purchase eco-friendly produce), and symbolic (e.g., allows them to convey their social status). Importantly, when these value types are taken together, they closely resemble the value derived from luxury fashion, which lead us to the conclusion that organic food consumption can be conceived as a particular type of luxury fashion trend. The paper concludes with the discussion of theoretical contributions and managerial implications.

        Despite consumers' growing support to preserve the environment, organic products business in emerging country such as Indonesia is still suffered from consumer’s low acceptance toward organic food. It is conceivable that some influencing factors are existed; as such consumers’ attitude cannot be translated into action. Through mixed methodology research, this study proposes an approach to integrate individual factors, which encompasses psychographic and demographic factors, into Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) to predict consumer acceptance toward organic food. Then, using Partial Least Square analysis, this study generates an extending TAM that could explain the role of those individual factors toward consumers’ acceptance on organic food.

        This paper presents the findings of a study on the influence of health consciousness, organic food knowledge, and environmental attitudes on consumer’s attitude towards organic foods. A questionnaire survey was conducted using a sample of 222 respondents and a partial least squares approach was used to validate the research model. Environmental attitude and organic food knowledge are found to have positive influences on consumers’ attitude towards organic foods, which is consistent with research results from prior studies. Our research results also conclude that health consciousness does not show a significant relationship. Several implications of our findings for research and for the continued development of the organic industry in Asia are proposed.

        During the last decades more and more consumers worldwide, started integrating environmental considerations into daily purchases what leads the so-called ‘green consumer’ to ask for healthier, safer, and better quality food. Nonetheless, a deeper understanding of value dimensions consumers across nations perceive in the context of organic food products is still required to develop successful management strategies which might transfer positive consumer perceptions to satisfaction and resulting buying behavior.         This study conducted a survey to analyze awareness, preferences, and the current state of consuming environmentally friendly organic food while eating-out in 435 adults aged 20 and above in Daegu, Korea. Most subjects (95%) showed awareness of environmentally friendly organic food, and 88.5% of subjects answered environmentally friendly organic food is ‘needed’. The percentage of eating out for families was 58.9%, and 49.0% of subjects said they eat out one to three times per month on average. In addition, subjects preferred a price range between 10,000 and 20,000 won per person when eating out, and they mostly favored Korean restaurants when ordering environmentally friendly organic food. Analysis of awareness of environmentally friendly organic food showed that among ‘health’ factors, ‘environmental’ factors, ‘social’ factors, and ‘dietary essential’ factors, ‘health’ factors showed the highest percentage for awareness. A survey on preferred foods by gender showed that both genders preferred vegetables the most. The results show that subjects in their 20s and 30s favored vegetables and fruits while subjects in their 40s preferred vegetables and grain animal products. Analysis of preferred types of environmentally friendly organic foods showed that men preferred polished rice while women preferred brown rice. Subjects in their 20s and 30s preferred strawberries, whereas those in their 40s preferred cherry tomatoes and those in their 50s and above favored tomatoes (p<0.001). Among root and tuber crops (63.4%), sweet potato was the most preferred. Among fruits, subjects preferred apples while among special crops, they most preferred oyster mushrooms; both genders preferred Korean beef. The most preferred livestock product of subjects in their 20s was pork, whereas subjects in their 30s preferred Korean beef. Subjects in their 40s preferred Korean beef and pork in the same proportions, whereas subjects in their 50s and above favored eggs the most.

        Due to an overall increase of income, the general standard of living has improved and people have begun to be interested in being more healthy in their lives. This tendency has affected the food market, especially in relation to organic and eco-friendly food. Thus, the overall market size for those products has grown to give more choices to consumers. To examine the effect of the motive for choosing certain food products on the actual attitude and intent to purchase the products, a survey was given to 330 people living in Seoul, which resulted in 235 usable responses. The content of the questionnaire consisted of 18 questions on food choice motives, 3 questions on the attitude toward organic foods and 3 questions on the intention of purchasing for organic foods. The SPSS 12.0 statistics program was used to analyze of following: frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, t-test, one way ANOVA and regression analysis. Five factors of food choice motives were obtained from the analysis: health, convenience, price, familiarity and environmental protection. The regression analysis showed that food choice motive, health and environmental protection factors have a positive relationship with organic food attitudes and organic food attitudes have a positive relationship with the intent to purchase organic food.

        21종류의 폴리스티렌 용기를 대상으로 용출조건에 따른 용기내 증류수로 용출되는 5종의 VOCs(톨루엔, 스티렌, 에틸벤젠, 이소프로필벤젠 및 n-프로필벤젠)를 Purge&Trap 장치를 연결하여GC-FID로 분석하였다. 각 표준물질은 1~50 ng/ mL의 농도범위에서 직선성(r2 =0.9976~0.9995)을 나타냈으며, 검출한계는 0.041~0.092 ng/mL, 정량한계는 0.135~0.304 ng/mL 이었다. 용출조건은 첫째, 60oC에서 30분, 둘째, 95oC에서 30분, 셋째, 실생활에서 컵라면 섭취시를 고려하여 끓은 물을 부은 후 뚜껑을 덮고 3분간 유지한 다음 뚜껑을 열고 5분 동안 개방하여 용출시키는 것으로 설정하였다. 톨루엔, 에틸벤젠, 이소프로필벤젠 및 n-프로필벤젠은 평균용출량이 모든 조건에서 5 ng/mL 이하로 검출되었으며 스티렌의 경우는 60oC에서 평균용출량이 4.02 ng/mL, 95oC에서는 52.71 ng/mL, 컵라면 섭취시의 조건에서는 17.23 ng/mL로 검출되었다.

        The purpose of this study was to investigate housewives' perception, interest and consumption of organic food, and to identify the variables influencing on them. The sample was selected from 411 housewives living in Seoul from 1st of September to 20th of September in 1993. Used statistical methods were frequency, percentage, mean, Cronbach's α, factor analys, ANOVA, Duncan's multiple range test, t-test, correlation, regression analysis and Path analysis. The major results are as follows: 1) Housewives' perception degree of organic food in its variety, easy availability and contribution to health was relatively high level, but price level, reliability and packing condition was somewhat low level. Out of housewives' many images of organic food, taste health care, quality and necessity factors can be implicated. 2) Housewives' interest degree of organic food is somewhat high level 3) Housewives' consumption degree of organic food was relatively low level and was affected by their perception of oraganic food. 4) Frequency to use seasonings was the major independent variable which influenced to housewives' perception degree of organic food, while recognition on enviornmental contamination was the major independent variable which influenced to their interest degree of organic food, and their total perception on organic food was the major independent variable which influenced to their consumption degree of oragnic food. Therefore, it is considered that their total perception to it can decide the demand of organic food 5) Housewives' perception and interest degree of it was the major intervening variable which influenced to their consumption degree of oragnic food.

        Herein , the effect of changes in the organic loading rate in anaerobic digestion was evaluated. The experiment was carried out by a laboratory -scale semi-continuous stirred tank reactor, and feedstock was food-waste leached. The organic loading rate was increased by 0.5 kgVS/m3 in each phase from 1.0 kgVS/m3 to 4.0 kgVS/m3. At the end of the operation, to check the failure of the reactor, the organic loading rate was increased by 1.0 kgVS/m3 in each phase and reached 6.0 kgVS/m3. This shows that the biogas yield decreased as organic loading rate increased. Biogas production seemed to be unstable at 3.5–6.0 kgVS/m3. Moreover, biogas production dramatically fell to approximately 0 mL at 6.0 kgVS/m3, which was decided as the operation failure on the 16th day of the las tphase. The result of the reactor analysis shows that the cumulation of volatile fatty acid increased as the organic loading rate increased. This seems to occur due to the decreasein pH in the reactor and led to extinction of anaerobic bacteria, which were the biogas products. Although the buffer compound (alkalinity) could prevent the decline in pH, the concentration of alkalinity was found to be lacking at a high organic loading rate

        The paper investigates the antecedents of Organic Food (OF) produce in Vietnam and the intentions and behavior of OF purchasers. A theoretical framework is developed and evaluated by simulation of the structural model. Data was collected from a convenient sample of 222 consumers from Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. The selection included 159 (72%) women, who were identified as being the primary buyers of organic food for their family (73%). Findings suggest food hygiene issues and conscientious self-identity as the much beneficial determinants of organic production perceptions. Because of the results in this report, the consideration for food security has gained little research consideration throughout the field of organic produce. Food safety concerns are also related to academics exploring consumer confidence as they might be regarded as one of their aspects in selecting standard, natural or health food products. Findings suggest food security as one of the essential determinants of motivation, while health awareness purports to become the least significant motivation, contrary to observations from certain previous studies. However, it is observed that moral personality-identity influences both perceptions and willingness to buy organic food, stressing that the association of participants with ethical concerns influences their perceptions and eventual choices of consumption.

        A bioelectrochemical anaerobic digester for food waste was developed by installing an anode (−250 mV vs. Ag/AgCl) and a cathode (−550 mV vs. Ag/AgCl) inside a conventional lab-scale anaerobic digester. The performance of the bioelectrochemical anaerobic digester was investigated at different organic loading rates of 0.70-4.25 g VS/L.d. The bioelectrochemical anaerobic digester was rapidly stabilized within 25 days after start up, and at an organic loading rate of less than 1.97 g VS/L.d., state variables such as pH (7.0-7.8) and alkalinity (10-12 g/L as CaCO3) were very stable. The volatile fatty acids were maintained at 400-500 mg HAc/L with their main component being acetic acid (80%). At an organic loading rate of 1.97 g VS/L.d, the performance was significantly high in terms of the specific methane production rate (1.37 L CH4/L.d) and the methane content in the biogas (around 74%). The removal efficiencies of volatile solid and chemical oxygen demand were also as high as 80.1% and 85.1%, respectively, and the overall energy efficiency was 91.2%. However, the process stability deteriorated at an organic loading rate of 4.25 g VS/L.d.

        There is about 80% organic acid in the Food wastes leachate and organic acid can be used as organic carbon source for mixotrophic microalgae. The mixotrophic cultivation is that the combination of autotrophic and heterotrophic cultivation, where inorganic and organic carbon sources are used in their methabolism simultaneously. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of various organic acid on the microalgae when Food wastes leachate treatment. Chlorella vulgaris was used in this study, also NaHCO3 is supplied at all conditions as inorganic carbon source. In order to see the effect of organic carbon sources centrally, the carbon source conditions was set in 5 conditions - glucose known to have excellent effectiveness to increase of biomass productivity 1500 mg-COD/L, acetate 1500 mg-COD/L, isobutyrate 1500 mg-COD/L, propionate 1500mg-COD/L and the mixed organic acid (acetate, isobutyrate, propionate each 500 mg-COD/L). This study evaluated final biomass production, consumption of organic carbon, and N,P removal. In the result, the final biomass productivity by using glucose, acetate and isobutyrate is the highest level, followed by mixed organic acid and propionate. This is same aspect in N,P removal; the more rapid growth rate is, the more rapid N,P removal rate is. In the view of consumption of organic carbon, acetate make best use among organic acid.

        In this study the effects of co-digestion of sewage sludge and food waste leachate on the anaerobic digestion efficiencyfrom sewage treatment facilities in S. Korea were investigated. For this study 15 facilities were selected including 9facilities treating sewage sludge only (S-Only) and 6 facilities treating sewage sludge and food waste leachate (S-MIX).The average volatile solid (VS) removal rate of S-Only was 30.7% and that of S-MIX was 45.2%. The COD removalrate of S-MIX (61.3%) was higher than that of S-Only (48.6%). It has been observed that the anaerobic digestion efficiencyof S-MIX was superior to that of S-Only because S-MIX contained more sufficient nutrient with higher VS contents andtotal solid (TS) contents emerging from food waste leachate. Therefore food waste leachate addition in sewage sludgeanaerobic digestion would be the preferred option to treat only sewage sludge.

        The objective of this study is to estimate the relative importance of food labelling on organic and country-of-origin of tofu. The relative importance of three Tofu attributes shows that the country-of-origin is the most important and an organic labelling and price are followed in order. The result is that if two attributes, an organic labelling and the country-of-origin are taken into account, organic soybeans produced in Korea gets the highest value and non-organic soybeans produced in Korea, organic soybeans produced in USA, and others are followed in order. For respondents who have children under 6 years or under 18 years, the importance of an organic labelling increased compared to those whose children do not fall into that age. The results of this study show that the country of origin, especially domestically produced products, is more importantly recognized than the organic labeling to consumers.
