High yield arable and crop farming demands a temporally and quantitatively determined application of plant nutrients according to field and culture. The nutrients may come from commercial fertilizers or from animal wastes. Regarding the dangers to soil, water and air, which come from current agricultural application measures for nitrogen, a sectoral approach for a nonpolluting liquid manure utilization cannot be used any longer. An integrated system approach has to be found, leading to a drastic improvement of nutrient utilization and hence to a considerably reduced nutrient use. This can be only expected, if the organic manure can be applicated at times, when losses through leaching and volatilization can be minimized.

With the development of national economy and increase of income, consumers’ demand for quality and safe agricultural products have increased and perception on environmental-friendly Farming products has been sharply changing. In other words, consumers increasingly show the tendency to prefer environmental-friendly farming products for considering health and environment protection, despite higher price. The environmental-friendly farming products in Jeonnam Province is still at its early stage, accounting for 1% or so of the total products. Considerable part of environment-friendly farming products, nevertheless, difficult problem to find consumers, thus sold at relatively high prices. To the questionnaire asking their most severe difficulty is about 30.5% for sale. This suggests that strategies for consumption expansion of environment-friendly farming products, including of consumers’ confidence, publicity of consumers, should be established to increase the income of environmental-friendly farmers in Jeonnam Province.

The purpose of this study is analyze Development policies on environmentalfriendly agriculture(EA) and find out some implications. As consumption of environmental- friendly agriculture products increasing, administrative policies on EA began 1997s and it has been generally expanded in Korea. The strategies for EA aim to promote among human beings and between humanity and nature require. In addition, support to develop horizontal and vertical productions-organization, regionalization, and political support must be further developed. The necessary investments for such concepts can clearly be reduced through cooperation.

Recently, with the improvement of national income, the increase of interest in the consumers’ health, and the enhancement of recognition of environment the demands of environmental-friendly agricultural products(EFAPs) are on the rise rapidly. The demand in the market for EFAPs increases rapidly, and the sales amount increases by 30~40% every year. But, it is in situation that the EFAPs are not distributed well between the producers and consumers now. That is, the producers of EFAPs can not find their markets. And, the consumers do not trust the EFAPs. Also, it is in situation that it is difficult to promote the demand because of relatively higher prices than the general agricultural products. To solve these problems, it may be summed up as follows. First, it needs to reduce the distribution cost by the construction of stable supply basis. Second, it needs to improve the distribution system of EFAPs. Third, it needs to enhance the differentiation and improve the consumers’ reliability. Fourth, it needs to make in brand and extend the various publicities. Fifth, it needs to construct the supporting system and enhance the cooperation with the related institutions. Sixth, it needs to find new demand and introduce the procurement system by the government.

Foci of this thesis are an estimation of willingness to pay and an establishment of green marketing strategies for environment-friendly agricultural products(EFAP). Estimations of willingness to pay for grain, vegetables, fruit and processed foodstuffs are respectively 20.6%, 20.2%, 19.3% and 17.2% higher than agricultural products produced by conventional farming method. And a green marketing mix for EFAP is as follows; first, a product strategy focuses on producing safe and high-quality foods by environment-friendly agriculture(EFA) to point to consumer"s health and desire for environmental preservation. Second, in a price strategy, the balance of three factors should be kept, namely the environmental value, the true quality as food materials and the price of EFAP. Third, a place strategy is to reduce waste matters, resource and energy uses in marketing chain, and to simplify marketing channels. Also, it is necessary to choose the marketing channel for price discrimination. Fourth, a promotion strategy make use of programs that emphasize the multi-function of EFA.

Organic farming in the UK has been greatly grown for the last decade. Two policies for supporting organic farming introduced in 1994 and 1999 played a crucial role in expanding organic farming area and increase in the number of farmers taken up organic farming methods. Comparing the two policies, this paper identifies that the significant increase in financial aid to organic farming in 1999 not only was a key factor to succeed in the scheme but also provided environmental base for further development of rural areas. However, such a national aid scheme should be improved in order to reflect regional specific characteristics in terms of environmental protection and local social and economic development. The experience of the UK suggests that the role of organic farming in rural economies should be defined before enhancing financial support to farmers.

This study was carried out to investigate the effect of soil-born microorganism, vitabio on growth of leaf lettuce in the vinyl house. Total weights of leaf lettuce treated with vitabio showed difference compared with untreated leaf lettuce. Sugar content was also increased. Mineral contents of leaf lettuce showed no difference between treated with vitabio and untreated with vitabio. Exchange Capacity (EC) and Organic Matter (OM) in chemical properties of soil treated with vitabio showed higher than soil in untreated vitabio. Vitabio treated soil contained much more microorganisms such as Bacteria, Actinomycetes, Hyphomycetes, Bacillus sp. Pseudomonas sp. after harvest.
