In this study, RPS system, one of the renewable energy support systems, is utilized for economic analysis of solar generation equipment and the fuel cost savings plan for controlled horticulture farms with high fuel-cost dependency and facility applicability were evaluated. On the exterior of the upper layer of glass greenhouse (9917m2) of controlled horticulture farms using bunker C oil, half of the area (4958m2) was utilized for theoretical installation and operation of 450kW-level solar power generator, and as the result, first, the effect of investment cost only of solar generation system was found to be quite excellent, but it was analyzed that there were limits to saving the fuel costs of the controlled horticulture farms. Second, when geothermal system was first introduced in the farm and solar system was additionally introduced, it was analyzed that the effect of introducing solar system was excellent. In order to apply such effects to the sites of farming, partial supplementation of RPS system which is being uniformly applied regardless of the purpose of renewable energy is necessary. When the subject of use directly install facilities where it is directly connected to national added-value such as food security created by the farming industry, it is necessary to introduce appropriate system that corresponds to such. Moreover, it was studied that the quick development of demonstrative complex that can practically evaluate the applicability of renewable energy in farming industry and interest and preparation of related institutions in financial support structure for its site application would lead to success.

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of effective microorganisms (EM) on growth, yield and fruit nutrient contents of two cultivars (‘Muhanjilju’ and ‘Daetong’) of hot pepper. The number of injection of EM cultivated are 6 times from the pepper plant seedlings until harvested in both cultivars. Stem girth was highest in the treatment of Lactobacillus plantarum whereas lowest in no EM control. In ‘Muhanjilju’, the number of branches was highest (79.3) in the treatment of Bacillus subtilis whereas in ‘Daetong’ was highest (119.0) as treated with Lactobacillus plantarum. Yield of the red hot pepper fruits that sum of two varieties was highest in the treatment of Rhodopseudomonas capsulatas (53.1kg FW per 10a). Regardless of EM treatments, average yield was 8% higher in ‘Daetong’ than is ‘Muhanjilju’ (33.8kg vs 31.2kg per 10a). The incidence of antracnose was lowest by the Rhodopseudomonas capsulatas treatment, which led to the highest yield. As for the effect on fruit mineral nutrients, total N and phosphorus concentrations were highest in the treatment of Lactobacillus plantarum and Bacillus subtilis in both varieties, respectively. The highest content of total carotenoids was obtained from the treatment of Lactobacillus plantarum in both varieties.

In order to develop a high cellulolytic direct-fed microorganism (DFM) for ruminant productivity improvement, this study isolated cellulolytic bacteria from the rumen of Holstein dairy cows, and compared their cellulolytic abilities via DM degradability, gas production and cellulolytic enzyme activities. Twenty six bacteria were isolated from colonies grown in Dehority’s artificial (DA) medium with 2% agar and cultured in DA medium containing filter paper at 39℃ for 24h. 16s rDNA gene sequencing of four strains from isolated bacteria showed that H8, H20 and H25 strains identified as Ruminococcus flavefaciens, and H23 strain identified as Fibrobacter succinogenes. H20 strain had higher degradability of filter paper compared with others during the incubation. H8 (R. flavefaciens), H20 (R. flavefaciens), H23 (F. succinogenes), H25 (R. flavefaciens) and RF (R. flavefaciens sijpesteijn, ATCC 19208) were cultured in DA medium with filter paper as a single carbon source for 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 and 6 days without shaking at 39℃, respectively. Dry matter degradability rates of H20, H23 and H25 were relatively higher than those of H8 and RF since 2 d incubation. The cumulative gas production of isolated cellulolytic bacteria increased with incubation time. At every incubation time, the gas production was highest in H20 strain. The activities of carboxymethylcellulase (CMCase) and Avicelase in the culture supernatant were significantly higher in H20 strain compared with others at every incubation time (p

We conducted a survey of actual using conditions of farm-made liquid fertilizers by investigating their formulation types, materials, making processes, using methods and various beneficial effects on 29 farms certified by National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service to produce environment-friendly agricultural products in 2009. Most of the materials used to make liquid fertilizers are those that can be easily obtained around the farms. Molasses or black sugar are added as an energy source of microorganism. And leaf mold, bacterial cultures supplied by agricultural extension centers of local governments, and cultures of native microorganisms were used as microbial sources for fermenting effective microorganisms. Types of the farm-made liquid fertilizers were fermented liquid fertilizers, fermented plant juices, amino acid liquid fertilizers, calcium-liquid fertilizers, and phosphoric acid liquid fertilizers. Effects of liquid fertilizers used by the farms were found to promote plant growth by supplying nutrition, to accelerate blooming and flower bud formation, to enhance the quality of agricultural products such as increase of sugar contents and improvement of storing conditions, to induce resistance against diseases and insect pests, and to cause endurance to high temperature stress. Chemical properties of the liquid fertilizers collected were analyzed. As a result, pH and EC range showed differences according to kinds of the liquid fertilizers. Amount of macro-nutrients, such as nitrogen and phosphoric acid, in most of the collected liquid fertilizers, was found to be low. Even though the liquid fertilizers were made from same materials, their contents was found to be different depending on the making process.

This study was conducted to evaluate soil inorganic N concentrations and N uptake efficiency of sorghum × sudangrass hybrid (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) as affected by organic nutrient sources from 2009 to 2011. The treatments included chemical fertilizer, compost, oilcake, alfalfa hay mulch, and control. Nutrient applications were made at rates equivalent to approximately 210 kg of actual N per hectare. The precipitation during the growth period from May to September was higher in 2011, followed by 2009, and 2010. Oilcake had the lowest C:N ratio in the raw materials. Compost treatment slowed N-mineralization rate in soil during the measured years. Soil mineral nutrition and dry matter production were not consistently affected by treatments, but the dry matter production was negatively correlated with the amount of precipitation from May to September for three years. Chemical fertilizer treatment increased N efficiency in plants in the first two years, observing with lower N efficiency in plants treated with compost for 3 years. Increased precipitation from June to August improved N efficiency in sudangrass plants treated with compost but reduced the efficiency with the chemical fertilizer. Total dry matter production and N efficiency in plants were not affected by the C:N ratio of the raw materials rather than weather condition.

This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimal stocking rate of earthworm populations grown under different stocking rates. The stocking rate in terms of ratio of biomass of earthworms to biomass of feeds(organic resources) is an important factors for biomass productivity of earthworms and vermicast production. The different stocking rates were 1:16(S-1), 1:32(S-2), 1:48(S-3) and 1:64(S-4), as the ratios of biomass of earthworm to biomass of organic dairy cow manure, respectively. The stocking rate of 1:32(S-2) and 1:46(S-3) were obtained a higher values on increasing rates and conversion efficiency of organic matter to earthworm biomass than other stocking rates. Thus, a stocking rates of 1:32 and 1:46 estimated an optimal stocking rates for maximum biomass productivity of earthworms. A stocking rate of 1:16(S-1) showed a significantly highest values of vermicast production and ratios of vermicasts during the rearing periods.(P≦0.05) A stocking rate of 1:48(S-3) showed a highest values of the number of cocoons and vermicasts production per earthworm biomass among the treatment (P≦0.05) The contents of nitrogen, available phosphorus, cation exchange capacity and exchangeable cations of vermicasts tended to increase with stocking rate and rearing progressed. Vermicasts have a great deal of potential for crop production and protection in sustainable organic cropping systems.

A pot experiment was carried out to examined the effect of electrolyzed micronutrients (Fe, Mn, Zn, Sr, Se, Sn, Co, Ti, and V) solution treatments with nutrient solution and SCB slurry on the mineral content and growth of tomato in cherry tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum). The treatment of nutrient solution (NS) + micronutrients solution (MS) significantly increased the concentrations of Li, Zn, Sr, Se, Ti as compared with that of NS alone in the cherr tomato fruits, and SCB +MS solution treatment significantly increased Li, Zn, Se, Co, Sr, and Ti contents as compared with SCB treatment. The micronutrient contents of MN+SCB+MS treatment were significantly higher in Li, Zn, Se, Co and in Ti than those of SCB and NS treatment, respectively. The growth and yield of cherry tomato fruits was highest with NS treatment. The yield indices of cherry tomato treated with NS+MS treatment and SCB+NS+MS were 97% and 94% of NS treatment. In conclusion, it seems to be possible to produce micronutrient-fortified cherry tomato by the mixed treatment of electrolyzed micronutrients.
