Attempting to make an economic valuation of semi-liquid manure raises various complex questions. These are the valuation under different farming conditions, cost-benefit analysis in connection with the investment requirements of different semi-liquid manure systems, different storage capacities, transportation distances and treatment procedures. In the following, three questions will be discussed : 1. What value do the different types of semi-liquid manure have under different farming conditions? 2. Which storage capacities are economically justified? 3. Under which conditions is the transport of semi-liquid manure over long distances profitable?

The objectives of this study were to analysis satisfaction and additional cost scale about environmental-friendly agri-product school meal program. To analysis satisfaction about environmental-friendly agri-product (EFAP), parent’ survey were conducted residing in Cheonan city. The sample size of the survey is 304 respectively. As a result, parents of students recognized that EFAP is good for their children as well as they really want to change food material from general agri-product to EFAP. Therefore, environmental-friendly agri-policy to be more focused on consumption behavior and food security needs. In order to perfectly change food material to EFAP, about 1 trillion won will be additionally needed. It means that the market demand of EFAP will be dramatically increased. On the other hand, safe school meal program is one of the most important in a child’s life, vital for proper growth and development.

This study was carried out to clarify the effects of antifungal bacterial strains isolated from the greenhouse soil grown strawberry plants on the growth inhibition of plant pathogen, gray mold (Botrytis cinerea) infected in strawberry plants in Damyang and Jangheung districts. Antagonistic bacterial strains were isolated and investigated into the antagonistic activity against gray mold. Screened ten bacterial strains which strongly inhibited Botrytis cinerea were isolated from the greenhouse grown strawberry plants, and the best antifungal microorganism designated as SB 143 was finally selected. Antifungal bacterial strain SB 143 was identified to be the genus Bacillus sp. based on the morphological and biochemical characterization. Bacillus sp. SB 143 showed 59.4% of antifungal activity against Botrytis cinerea. By the bacterialization of culture broth and heated filtrates of culture broth, Bacillus sp. SB 143 showed 93.1% and 32.1% of antagonistic activity against Botrytis cinerea.

This study was conducted to investigate into the distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in the greenhouse soils grown strawberry plants in Damyang and Jangheung districts. Twenty three soil samples were collected from strawberry plants under greenhouse conditions, and mycorrhizal spores in soils were separated using wet-sieving methods. Number of mycorrhizal spores per 30g fresh soil sized over 500㎛, 355~500㎛, 251~354㎛, 107~250㎛ and 45~106㎛ were 0.3, 1.0, 4.2, 50.4 and 119, etc. Total number of spores per 30g fresh soil were 173.9. Root infection by vesicles and hyphae were 25% and 4%, respectively. Mycorrhizal root infection by arbuscules was not shown in strawberry roots. Isolated mycorrhizal spores were inoculated into the host plant of sudangrass to identify the genus of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, and propagated for 4 months. As a result of identification, mass propagated mycorrhizal spores were Glomus sp., Gigaspora sp., and Acaulospora sp., and so on.

Two hundred [(Duroc×Yorkshire)×Landrace] pigs were used in a 117-d growth assay (including four growth stages) to determine the effects of dietary supplementation of Lactobacillus reuteri on performance of swine, fecal and rectumal microflora and carcass grade. Pig diet was divided tow types, commercial diet (Control group) and supplemention of 0.1% Lactobacillus reuteri (Treatmental group). There was tend to increased in average daily gain (ADG) and feed efficiency (Feed/gain) in treatmental group than control group during the whole experimental period. The number of Lactobacilius spp. into rectum and feaces and carcass rate tended to increase in treatmental group than control group. Ammonia emission from excreta were decrease by supplemention of 0.1% Lactobacillus reuteri in feed (P

This study was conducted to investigate into the marketing states of ‘Hangalku (Cirsium japonicum DC.)’ for the soup stock of wild vegetables with Jangheung as the central districts, and to clarify the distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi in the native soil and roots of Cirsium japonicum DC. Hangalku for wild vegetables was used for the soup stock with soft leaves and roots. Total fresh and dry weights of leaves per 1,000won were 226.0g and 24.6g. And total root fresh and dry weights by 1,000won were 175.6g and 37.5g. Leaf fresh and dry weights of Hangalku per plant sold for wild vegetables were 9.1g and 0.9g, and number of leaves was 10.8. Root fresh and dry weights of Hangalku per plant were 19.2g and 4.1g. Thirty five soil samples were collected from the native soils grown Cirsium japonicum DC., and mycorrhizal spores in soils were separated using wet-sieving methods. Number of mycorrhizal spores per 30g fresh soil sized over 500㎛, 355~500㎛, 251~354㎛, 107~250㎛ and 45~106㎛ were 0.6, 2.1, 6.0, 55.3 and 126, etc. Total number of mycorrhizal spores per 30g fresh soil were 190. Root infection by vesicles, hyphae and arbuscules were 13%, 4% and 3%, respectively. As a result of identification, mass propagated mycorrhizal spores by the host plant of sudangrass were Glomus sp., Gigaspora sp., and Acaulospora sp., and so on.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of animal slurry on nitrogen uptake of hairy vetch and growth of chinese cabbage in cropping system. Hairy vetch was seeded on September 20 in 2003. We examined the effect of cover crop(hairy vetch (Vicia villosa Roth) and slurry application(0, 100, 200kg N/ha) on yield and N uptake. Dry matter yield and nitrogen uptake of hairy vetch were measured. The chinese cabbage succeeding cover crop was harvested in 2004. The nitrogen uptake of hairy vetch was 84, 121, 148kg N/ha respectively, when the slurry application was 0, 100 and 200kg N/ha. In addition. N uptake of hairy vetch at the plot of 100kg and 200 kg N/ha slurry were 44% and 76% higher than that of the plot without slurry application respectively. Slurry application of hairy vetch could increase nitrogen uptake by application of green manure at the harvesting time. The content of organic matter and P-content of soil with hairy vetch plot was higher than that of fallow plot due to inhibition of soil erosion. The organic matter levels tend to improve with the addition of hairy vetch. Hairy vetch could improve soil quality by reducing erosion compared with bare fallow. The green manure of hairy vetch with animal slurry maintained soil nutrient and reduced nitrogen fertilizer of chinese cabbage. The hairy vetch residues decomposed rapidly releasing half of their residues within 40 days after burial. The yield of chinese cabbage was 90% in the plot of manure of hairy vetch compared with chemical fertilizer. The yield in the plot treated with green manure of hairy vetch and 50% of chemical fertilizer was reduced 5% less than that of chemical fertilizer. Therefore, it was estimated that the green manure of hairy vetch-chinese cabbage cropping system could reduce nitrogen chemical fertilizer as much as 84~148kg N/ha. The green manure of hairy vetch with animal slurry maintained soil nutrient and reduced nitrogen fertilizer of chinese cabbage.
