        Skeletal muscle is an organ that regulates biological metabolic energy. Its dysfunction causes decline of body functions and disability, thus deteriorating the overall quality of life. Various materials are being developed with an anti-sarcolytic effect. However, anti-sarcolytic effect of Sinomenium acutum rhizomes extract (SAE) remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate anti-muscle atrophy effects of SAE and its alkaloids, including sinomenine (SIN), magnoflorine (MF), acutumine (ACU), and N-ferultyramine (NFT) isolated from SAE, on dexamethasone (Dex)-induced myotubules. C2C12 myogenic cells differentiated for 6 days were treated with 1 mM Dex for 24 hours. Induction of muscular atrophy was confirmed by a decrease in myogenin expression. We found that Dex increased expression levels of muscle-specific ubiquitin ligases MuRF1 and MAFbx/atrogin-1. However, mRNA and protein levels of these muscle-specific ubiquitin ligases were significantly reduced by cotreatment with SIN, MF, and NFT in myotubes. Glucose uptake reduced by Dex in myotubules were also restored by SIN, MF, and NFT treatments. These results suggest that SIN, MF, and NFT can reduce muscle wasting and enhance glucose uptake in Dex-treated myotubes, highlighting their potential as therapeutic agents to prevent muscle atrophy.

        With the increasing attention to environmental pollution caused by particulate matter globally, the automotive industry has also become increasingly interested in particulate matter, especially particulate matter generated by automobile brake systems. Here, we designed a coating composition and analyzed its mechanical properties to reduce particulate matter generated by brake systems during braking of vehicles. We designed a composition to check the mechanical properties change by adding Cr3C2 and YSZ to the WC-Ni-Cr composite composition. Based on the designed composition, coating samples were manufactured, and the coating properties were analyzed by Vickers hardness and ball-on-disk tests. As a result of the experiments, we found that the hardness and friction coefficient of the coating increased as the amount of Cr3C2 added decreased. Furthermore, we found that the hardness of the coating layer decreased when YSZ was added at 20vol%, but the friction coefficient was higher than the composition with Cr3C2 addition.

        This study focused on improving the phase stability and mechanical properties of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ), commonly utilized in gas turbine engine thermal barrier coatings, by incorporating Gd2O3, Er2O3, and TiO2. The addition of 3-valent rare earth elements to YSZ can reduce thermal conductivity and enhance phase stability while adding the 4-valent element TiO2 can improve phase stability and mechanical properties. Sintered specimens were prepared with hot-press equipment. Phase analysis was conducted with X-ray diffraction (XRD), and mechanical properties were assessed with Vickers hardness equipment. The research results revealed that, except for Z10YGE10T, most compositions predominantly exhibited the t-phase. Increasing the content of 3-valent rare earth oxides resulted in a decrease in the monoclinic phase and an increase in the tetragonal phase. In addition, the t(400) angle decreased while the t(004) angle increased. The addition of 10 mol% of 3-valent rare-earth oxides discarded the t-phase and led to the complete development of the c-phase. Adding 10 mol% TiO2 increased hardness than YSZ.

        Seaweed-derived foods have long been popular in Korea because of their high content of nutrients that are beneficial to the human body. Recently, Korean seaweeds have been used as raw materials to produce new natural products with health benefits. Herein, we compared the antioxidant activity of 16 Korean seaweed extracts to explore their potential utility as health foods. The total phenolic content (TPC) and 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging activity of seaweed extracts were determined. We also investigated their ability to protect human diploid fibroblast (HDF) cells against hydrogen peroxide. The results showed that seaweed extracts at a concentration of 100 g/mL did not cause any cell toxicity. Sargassum thunbergii (Jichung-i) had the highest TPC and radical scavenging effects, followed by Porphyra tenera (Gim), Silvetia siliquosa (Tteumbugi), and Sargassum fusiforme (Tot). Hydrogen peroxide increased the production of intracellular reactive oxygen species, while P. tenera (Gim), Saccharina japonica (Dasima), and S. thunbergii (Jichung-i) extracts significantly decreased it. The effect was highest in the S. thunbergii (Jichung-i)-treated HDF cells. These findings indicate that S. thunbergii (Jichung-i) shows promise as a potential antioxidant raw material.

        피부를 대상으로 한 살균을 목적으로 하는 외용소독제 의 경우 식품 취급자에 오염된 미생물의 사멸 또는 제거 를 목적으로 활용될 수 있으며, 최근 개인위생에 대한 관 심 증가에 따라 제품 소비 증가와 제품 다양화가 두드러 지게 나타나고 있다. 살균 효능은 소독제의 핵심 품질 평 가 요소로서 수행 절차 및 조건에 따라 상이한 결과가 나 타날 수 있기 때문에 시험법의 효율성과 정확성을 높이기 위한 연구가 필요하다. 이에 본 총설논문에서는 주요 제 형별(겔형, 액제형, 와이프형) 시험법 개발 현황을 파악하 고 시험법별 특장점 분석 결과와 최근 관련 연구를 통하 여 제시된 시사점을 기반으로 향후 효능 평가 체계의 발 전 방향을 제시하고자 하였다. 인체 대상 시험법의 경우 시험 유형에 따라 소독제를 시험 대상 피부 표면에 처리 하는 조건이 다양화되어 있어 시험법 간 동등성에 대한 평가를 통해 소독제 제품의 성분이나 특성에 따라 최적의 시험 유형을 파악하고 그에 대응되는 적절한 평가 체계 및 관련 규제의 표준화의 필요성을 시사하였다. 특히 와 이프형 소독제의 경우 처리 방식이 미생물 제거 및 살균 에 직접적으로 영향을 미침에도 불구하고 피부에 노출하 는 손 대상 처리를 위한 사용 패턴의 표준화 사례가 부족 하였다. 한편 [전처리 - 소독제 노출 - 미생물 회수] 등 각 시험 절차별로 결과에 영향을 미치는 주요 결정 요인을 발굴하는 연구의 지속 수행을 통해 기존 시험법을 개선하고 신규 시험법을 개발하고자 하는 노력이 요구된다. 최 근 활발하게 개발되고 있는 ex vivo 시험법은 인체 시험 의 제한적인 연구 재현성과 같은 한계를 극복하면서도 인 간 피부 환경을 구현하기 위한 기술의 적용을 통해 연구 결과의 신뢰도를 확보할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 한편 손 피부를 대상으로 한 균총 연구 등 소독제 처리 전후 미생물의 특성과 분포 분석 관련 연구가 최근 다수 보고 되고 있어 이를 활용한 미생물 군집 단위의 소독제 효능 평가 시험법의 확립이 기대된다. 본 연구를 통해 제시된 소독제 효능 시험법의 현황 기반 발전 전략은 보다 효과 적인 개인위생 관리 확립을 통해 손을 통해 교차 오염되 는 미생물에 의한 감염성 질병 발생을 최소화하여 공중보 건 및 식품 안전성 향상에 기여할 수 있다.

        Thermal protection systems (TPS) are a group of materials that are indispensable for protecting spacecraft from the aerodynamic heating occurring during entry into an atmosphere. Among candidate materials for TPS, ceramic insulation materials are usually considered for reusable TPS. In this study, ceramic insulation materials, such as alumina enhanced thermal barrier (AETB), are fabricated via typical ceramic processing from ceramic fiber and additives. Mixtures of silica and alumina fibers are used as raw materials, with the addition of B4C to bind fibers together. Reaction-cured glass is also added on top of AETB to induce water-proof functionality or high emissivity. Some issues, such as the elimination of clumps in the AETB, and processing difficulties in the production of reusable surface insulation are reported as well.

        Yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) has a low thermal conductivity, high thermal expansion coefficient, and excellent mechanical properties; thus, it is used as a thermal barrier coating material for gas turbines. However, during long-time exposure of YSZ to temperatures of 1200oC or higher, a phase transformation accompanied by a volume change occurs, causing the YSZ coating layer to peel off. To solve this problem, YSZ has been doped with trivalent and tetravalent oxides to obtain coating materials with low thermal conductivity and suppressed phase transformation of zirconia. In this study, YSZ is doped with trivalent oxides, Nd2O3, Yb2O3, Al2O3, and tetravalent oxide, TiO2, and the thermal conductivity of the obtained materials is analyzed according to the composition; furthermore, the relative density change, microstructure change, and m-phase formation behavior are analyzed during long-time heat treatment at high temperatures.

        This study examines the trend of research on food and culture in papers published in the Journal of The Korean Society of Food Culture from 1986 to 2020. The journals published a total of 329 papers, which we classified into 5 main categories and 13 middle categories. Of these, 204 articles were on “Korean traditional food culture.” The most studied topic in the entire period was “Perception of Koreans towards traditional food, preference, satisfaction, and usage.” A total of 76 studies related to “Korean contemporary food culture.” The most advanced topic researched concerned “Recognition and attitude”; these studies were consistently carried out throughout the research period. The main classification of “World food culture” encompassed 32 studies, with major research focused on “World's Modern Food Culture” and the most advanced being “Comparison of Food Cultures of Foreign and Korean Food Cultures.” All studies were consistently spaced out during the study period. These studies provide an integrated knowledge in the field of food and culture and can be used as a basic material for related research in the future.

        Although fine dust pollution in Korea is increasing, there is no information regarding nutritional standards for fine dustrelated disease patients. This study analyzed the food and nutrient intake status in adult men with disease associated with fine dust in the area with the increased level of fine dust pollution using the sixth and seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013-2017). The daily intakes, and average nutrient adequacy ratio (NAR) and mean adequacy ratio (MAR) values of energy were significantly increased in the control group compared with patient groups. Compared with the control group, protein, fat and cholesterol intakes were significantly increased in the patient groups. Daily intakes of cereals and grain products in the control group were increased, whereas seasoning intake was decreased in the control group compared with patient groups. The patient groups had low daily water and vitamin B1 intakes, and the niacin intake of patient groups was significantly lower than that of the control group. Nutrition density and nutritional quality of vitamin C were significantly reduced in patient groups. This study can be used as basic data for nutrition education that emphasizes sufficient calorie, water and antioxidant vitamin intakes for patients related to fine dust pollution.

        Purpose: This study compares the chest compression quality, and the willingness and confidence to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) before and after education between the compression only CPR (COCPR) group and the standard CPR (STCPR) group using manikins. Method: This study employs a randomized controlled trial design. A total of 219 and 214 individuals were randomly assigned to the COCPR and STCPR groups, respectively. Both groups were asked to perform CPR for 2 min before and after education. The willingness and confidence to perform CPR were surveyed through a questionnaire. Results: Before education, the STCPR group had a significantly higher mean chest compression depth and accuracy than the COCPR group for the entire 2 min. After education, the STCPR group had a significantly higher mean chest compression depth for 2 min and higher compression accuracy for late 1 min than the COCPR group. However, no significant difference in the willingness and confidence to perform CPR according to the compression method was evident. Conclusion: Repeated training is required to maintain chest compression quality. CPR education improves willingness and confidence to perform CPR.

        This study analyzed the health characteristics and comorbidity of adult men aged 40 years by dividing them into a control group of those without any disease related to fine dust and a patient group with one or more diseases related to fine dust in areas with high levels of fine dust pollution using the sixth and seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (2013-2017). Among the general characteristics, the mean age of the patient group was significantly older than that of the control group (p<0.001), and in terms of the health-related characteristics, the frequency of breakfast consumption in the patient group was higher than in the control group (p<0.043). The body measurements were similar in the patient and control groups. Regarding the prevalence of comorbidity, the patient group showed a higher prevalence of hypertension, dyslipidemia, stroke, myocardial infarction, heart failure, and diabetes than the control group, but the differences were not statistically significant. On the other hand, the prevalence of other cancers (except stomach cancer, liver cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and cervical cancer) in the patient group was higher than in the control group (p<0.05). In terms of the clinical characteristics, the glycated hemoglobin levels in the patient group were significantly higher than in the control group (p<0.048). Information on nutrition and health in areas with frequent occurrences of fine dust was obtained through the study results, which can be used as basic data for measures of health and diet management against diseases that will increase in relation to fine dust.

        수산자원보호구역인 춘천호와 안동호에서 어류 군집 분석을 실시하였다. 조사는 2017년부터 2018년까지 수행되었으며, 어류상을 파악하고 우점종 및 아우점종을 확인한 결과 춘천호에서 채집된 어류는 총 13과 34종 1,197개체였다. 채집된 어류 중 블루길(Lepomis macrochirus)이 23.2%로 우점하였으며, 피라미(Zacco platypus)가 17.4%로 아우점하였다. 안동호에서 채집된 어 류는 총 9과 24종 1,393개체였다. 우점종은 블루길이 15.7%로 가장 많이 채집되었으며, 붕어 (Carassius carassius)가 15.2%로 아우점하였다. 두 조사지점의 종다양도는 과거보다 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 균등도는 안동호에서는 차이가 보이지 않았으나 춘천호에서는 증가하는 경 향을 보였다. 두 인공호 모두 어류상 및 군집구조 측면에서 안정된 상태를 유지하고 있으나 외래종 비율을 감소시키기 위한 지속적인 노력이 필요하고, 다양한 어종이 안정적으로 개체 수를 유지할 수 있도록 수산자원 종자 방류 및 인공산란장 설치 등과 같은 관리가 필요하다.

        본 연구의 목적은 스마트 헬스케어를 위해 접촉식 직물전극의 구조가 심장활동 신호 획득에 미치는 영향을 연구하는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 심장활동 신호 측정을 위하여 전극의 크기와 구성방식을 조작한 6종의 접촉식 직물전극을 컴퓨터 자수 방식으로 구현하였고, 이를 가슴밴드에 부착하여 응용형 리드 II(modified Lead II) 방식으로 심장활동 신호를 검출하였다. 건강한 신체의 남성 4명을 대상으로 서서 정지한 자세에서 각 직물전극을 사용하여 심장활동 신호를 검출하였으며, 모든 유형의 전극에 걸쳐 4회씩 반복측정 하였다. 심장활동 신호의 수집을 위해 BIOPAC ECG100 장비를 사용하여 1 ㎑로 샘플링하였으며, 검출된 원 신호를 대역통과 필터를 사용하여 필터링하였다. 직물전극의 구조에 따른 심장활동 신호 획득의 성능을 비교하기 위하여 신호의 파형과 크기를 파라미터로 하여 정성적 분석을 실시하였고, 각 전극을 통하여 획득된 심장활동 신호의 SPR(signal power ratio)을 산출함으로써 정량적 분석을 실시하였다. 산출된 SPR 값을 대상으로 하여 비모수 통계분석 방식의 차이검정과 사후검정을 실시함으로써 6개 전극의 구조에 따른 심장활동 신호 획득의 성능 차이를 구체적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 접촉식 직물전극의 구조에 따라 심장활동 신호의 품질에는 정성적, 정량적 측면에 걸쳐 모두 주요한 차이가 있는 것이 고찰되었다. 접촉식 직물전극의 구성 측면에 있어서는 입체전극이 평면전극에 비해 더 우수한 품질의 신호가 검출되는 것으로 나타났다. 한편 3가지 전극 크기에 따른 심장활동 신호 획득의 유의한 성능 차이는 발견되지 않았다. 이러한 결과는 심장활동 신호 획득을 위한 접촉식 직물전극 구조의 두 가지 요건 중 구성방식(평면/입체)이 웨어러블 헬스케어를 위한 심장활동 신호 획득의 성능에 주요한 영향을 미치는 것을 시사한다. 본 연구 결과를 기반으로 후속 연구에서는 직물전극이 일체형으로 통합된 의복형 플랫폼을 구현하고 성능 고도화 방안을 연구함으로써, 시공간의 제약 없이 고품질의 심장활동 모니터링이 가능한 스마트 의류 기술을 개발하고자 한다.

        웨어러블 광섬유 직물의 주요 요건은 의류에 적용하기 위해 높은 유연성을 전제로 해야 한다는 점과 인체의 평평한 부위뿐만 아니라 굴곡이 있는 구간에서도 발광 효과, 즉 휘도를 유지해야 한다는 점이다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 위 조건을 충족하는 웨어러블 광섬유 직물의 세부 구조를 직조(weaving) 타입과 자수(computer embroidery) 타입의 2가지 로 제작하였고, 이를 토대로 다음의 두 가지 조건에서 실험을 실시하였다. 첫째, 굴곡이 없는 평평한 상태에서의 웨어러블 광섬유 직물을 1㎝간격으로 총 10개의 측정점을 좌표화하여 그 휘도를 측정하였다. 둘째, 인체 부위 중 입체적 굴곡이 발생하는 팔뚝 부위에 가로 방향으로 웨어러블 광섬유 직물을 배치하고 1㎝ 간격으로 총 10개의 측정점을 좌표화하여 그 휘도값을 측정하였다. 그 결과 직조(weaving) 타입의 경우, 평평한 상태에서의 휘도값은 최대 5.23cd/㎡, 최소 2.74cd/㎡, 평균 3.56cd/㎡, 표준편차 1.11cd/㎡로 나타났고, 팔뚝 부위에서의 휘도값은 최대 7.92cd/㎡, 최소 2.37cd/㎡, 평균 4.42cd/㎡, 표준편차 2.16cd/㎡로 나타났다. 또한 자수(computer embroidery) 타입의 경우, 평평한 상태에서의 휘도값은 최대 7.56cd/㎡, 최소 3.84cd/㎡, 평균 5.13cd/㎡, 표준편차 1.04cd/㎡로 나타났고, 팔뚝 부위에서의 휘도값은 최대 9.62cd/㎡, 최소 3.63cd/㎡, 평균 6.13cd/㎡ 표준편차 2.26cd/㎡ 나타났다. 즉, 자수(computer embroidery) 타입의 경우가 직조(weaving) 타입의 경우에 비해 더 높은 발광 효과를 보였는데 이는 자수(computer embroidery) 타입의 세부 구조가 배면 소재로 인해 빛의 손실을 줄일 수 있었기 때문으로 사료된다. 또한 두 타입 모두에서 팔뚝 부위의 휘도가 평평한 상태에 비해 각각 124%, 119%로 나타나, 인체의 굴곡에도 본 웨어러블 광섬유 직물의 발광 효과가 우수하게 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 이는 빛의 파동설을 정의한 호이겐스의 원리(Huygens’ principle), 빛 파면의 진행 방향과 이루는 각도(θ)의 크기에 커지면 이와 비례하여 빛의 세기도 커진다는 호이겐스-프레넬-키르히호프 원리 (Huygens-Fresnel-Kirchhoff principle)와 일치하는 결과이다.

        Porous graphites were synthesized by removing the template in HF after cabothermal conversion for 3 h at 900 ℃, accompanied by intercalations of pyrolyzed fuel oil (PFO) in the interlayer of Co or Ni loaded magadiite. The X-ray powder diffraction pattern of the porous graphites exhibited 00l reflections corresponding to a basal spacing of 0.7 nm. The particle morphology of the porous graphites was composed of carbon plates intergrown to form spherical nodules resembling rosettes like a magadiite template. TEM shows that the cross section of the porous graphites is composed of layers with very regular spaces. In particular, crystallization of the porous graphite was dependent on the content of Co or Ni loaded in the interlayer. The porous graphite had a surface area of 328-477 m2/g. This indicates that metals such as Co and Ni act as catalysts that accelerate graphite formation.

        The purpose of this study is to identify target consumers to expand the export of Korean rice to China. We used the ordered logit model as the analysis method and conducted a survey on 637 consumers living in Xi'an, China from September 13, 2016 to September 30, 2016. The results indicate that the target consumers could be set as those who less amount of rice per purchase, more purchase experience of Korea rice, and have lower age. Also, people who are watch korean dramas more or listen to K-pops more tend to buy Korean rice more. Therefore, it is required to maximize the export performance by selecting the young and interested in Korean Wave as the target consumer for the effective export of rice to the Chinese market.

        This article study the Letter of Collection(LOC) of U.S. National Cancer Institute(NCI) and the INBio-Merck Agreement as a international cases of the Access to Genetic Resources and Benefit- Sharing. These cases have the matching parts to the provisions of concern international norms. But, these cases not reflected the provisions of international norm because they concluded before 2010. So access to genetic resources and benefit sharing agreement will be concluded in the future must include the following contents. First, the provisions of the provider and the user of genetic resources as a parties of benefit sharing agreement. Second, the provisions of participation of stakeholders. Third, the provisions of prior informed consent. Prior informed consent must provide basic principles, elements, competent national authority granting and information of procedures for obtaining prior informed consent. Fourth, the provisions of mutually agreed terms. Fifth, the incentive measures could be used in the implementation for conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity, to promote accountability of access and benefit sharing, to provide for national monitoring and reporting.
