        The global pet market is continuously growing as the number of single-person households increases along with the preponderance of the nuclear family, so pet-related industries are steadily growing. In addition, the market related to the health of companion animals is also increasing significantly. Regarding the health of companion animals, it is reported that the incidence of adult diseases, like humans, is growing mainly due to activities in indoor environments and the lack of exercise due to the lack of time for companion animals. This paper studies the antioxidant properties of Jerusalem Artichoke extract, which can be used as a raw material for functional foods related to adult diseases in companion animals by using substances extracted from Jerusalem Artichokes grown by the first author. Samples to be tested were extracted from hot water extraction and ethanol extraction methods according to conditions. To confirm the antioxidant properties, absorbance analysis, thin-layer chromatography (TLC) analysis, polyphenol measurement, flavonoid measurement, and radical scavenging ability measurement by DPPH were performed to determine whether the raw materials applied in this paper could be used. It was confirmed that Jerusalem Artichoke extract is a suitable additive raw material for functional pet food.

        This study aimed to prepare kombucha, a fermented tea beverage, containing Dendropanax morbiferus (DM) leaves and roots, and analyze its antioxidant and intracellular activities. We compared the pH change, total acidity, radical scavenging activity, and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) of kombucha fermented with black tea alone and that with added DM leaves or roots during fermentation. Using RAW 264.7, we evaluated the effects of kombucha containing different DM parts on nitric oxide (NO) production and inflammation-related cytokine content in cells. Kombucha containing ethanol extracts of DM leaves (BTK-E-DML) and roots (BTK-E-DMR) showed higher radical scavenging activity and ORAC 3 d after fermentation than that prepared from black tea alone (BTK-Ori). In an in vitro experiment using RAW 264.7, samples were treated with 8 mg/mL kombucha considering cytotoxicity; the lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced NO content significantly reduced after BTK-E-DML and BTK-EDMR treatments compared with that after BTK-Ori treatment. Additionally, the levels of interleukin-6 and tumor necrosis factor-alpha, which were LPS-stimulated inflammatory cytokines, significantly decreased in cells treated with BTK-E-DML and BTK-E-DMR 15 d after fermentation compared with those treated with BTK-Ori. In conclusion, these results demonstrate that kombucha fermented with the leaves and roots of DM increases antioxidant activity and can significantly regulate inflammatory responses at the cellular level.

        The physical and antibacterial properties of ophthalmic lenses fabricated by copolymerization with hydrogel monomers using two types of graphene were measured, and their usability as contact lens materials was analyzed. For polymerization, silicone monomers, including SID-OH, 3-(methacryloxy)propyl tris(trimethylsiloxy)silane, and decamethylcyclopentasiloxane, were used, and N,N-dimethylacetamide, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate as a crosslinking agent, and azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator were added. Also, graphene oxide nanoparticle (GON) and graphene nanoplate (GNP) were used as an additive, and the physical properties of the lenses fabricated after copolymerization were evaluated. The fabricated lenses satisfied the basic physical properties of general hydrogel contact lenses and showed the characteristics of lenses with high water content, and the disadvantage of very weak durability, due to low tensile strength. However, it was confirmed that the tensile strength and antibacterial properties were greatly improved by adding GON and GNP. With GON, the oxygen permeability and refractive index of the fabricated lenses were slightly improved. Therefore, it was determined that the graphene materials used in this study can be used in various ways as a contact lens material.

        The purpose of this study was to develop a functional beverage by using Caragana sinica extract and Tremella fuciformis Berk, which have high physiological effects such as anti-diabetic, antioxidant, anticancer, anti-lipidemic and anti-inflammatory. To this end, we used various mixing ratios of Caragana sinica extract, Tremella fuciformis Berk, and isomalto oligosaccharide, and measured the physicochemical properties of those beverages. The analyses showed the following: moisture content of those beverages using Caragana sinica extract and Tremella fuciformis Berk was 50.51~67.64%, pH was 5.19~5.38, and crude fat content was 0.28~0.52%, crude protein content was 1.26~1.80%, ash content was 0.47~0.80 and sugar content was 8.55~26.98°Brix. The lightness (L) of the beverages was 37.70~58.11, the redness (a) was 6.88~16.94, the yellowness (b) was 13.72~23.68, the total polyphenol content was 2.07~3.46 mg/g, and the total flavonoid content was 0.37~0.42 mg/g. Based on the results, it was confirmed that the nutritional components and total polyphenols of functional beverage using Caragana Sinica Extract, Tremella Fuciformis Berk and isomalto oligosaccharide were high at a mixing ratio of 1:1.3:25%. These results will increase the use of Caragana Sinica Extract and Tremella Fuciformis Berk, as functional materials in the future, and provide a framework for the manufacturing of diluted beverages comprising mineral water and carbonated water.

        Cassia tora seed was processed by germination and roasting to develop a germinated Cassia tora tea. The effects of extraction temperature on antioxidative compounds in tea extracts were examined and compared to four different commercial Cassia tora tea products. The contents of antioxidative compounds, such as phenolics, flavonoids, and β-carotene, increased as the extraction temperature increased (5 to 80oC), subsequently increasing in vitro antioxidant activities (DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities). Germinated Cassia tora tea had higher antioxidative activity than selected commercial Cassia tora teas, and the difference was significant at low extraction temperature. Therefore, the germinated Cassia tora tea could contribute to a new type of tea product with enhanced bioactive and antioxidative activities by adopting appropriate processing and extraction conditions.

        Kombucha is a fermented tea manufactured by adding various microorganisms and sugars to brewed herb tea such as green tea and black tea. Its components and functions vary depending on ingredients, inoculated microorganism compositions, and fermentation conditions. Therefore, this study aims to examine which conditions affect kombucha properties and how these features are affected. Types of substrates, specifically plant-based foods, alter profiles of polyphenol, organic acids, carbohydrates, and protein amounts in kombucha. Long fermentation time raises polyphenol contents and high fermentation temperatures increase sourness in kombucha. Microbial composition of SCOBY, which is the symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast used to inoculate microorganisms, change the kombucha microbiome that contributes to the chemical composition and functions of kombucha. Several studies have discovered that kombucha has health beneficial functions such as antioxidant activity, hepatic protective effects, antimicrobial effects, anti-diabetic effects, anti-inflammatory effects, and cholesterol reducing effects. These findings indicate that kombucha has high potential as a health functional food. However, future studies are needed to further determine the relationship of manufacturing conditions and functional properties of kombucha.

        녹두의 기능성 식품 소재로서 활용 가능성을 알아보고자 이화학적 특성에 관하여 분석한 결과, 일반성분 중 탄수화물 함량은 57.20±0.29%로 절반을 차지하였으며, 조단백질 26.40±0.69%, 수분 9.90±0.16%, 조회분 3.54±0.43% 및 조지방 2.96±0.26%로 확인되었다. 녹두의 비타민 성분 중 vitamin B5가 0.62±0.013 mg/100 g으로 높은 함량을 나타내었으며, 비타민 A의 전구체인 β-carotene 이 87.37±0.754 μg RE/100 g으로 동정되었다. 칼륨(K) 함량은 12,428.55±147.55 mg kg-1로 가장 높게 나타났고, 마그네슘(Mg)은 2,053.32±14.13 mg kg-1, 칼슘(Ca) 1,966.40±14.53 mg kg-1을 함유 하고 있었으며, 녹두의 총 지방산 중 포화지방산은 29.23±0.03%의 함유량을 보였으며, 단불포화지방산은 20.30±0.04%, 다불포화지방산은 50.46±0.06%의 비율로 불포화지방산 함유량이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히, ω-6계 linoleic acid가 41.19±0.02%, ω-9계 oleic acid 19.98±0.03%를 함유하고 있었다. 총 아미노산 함량은 21.75±0.24 g%이며, glutamic acid 3.93±0.03 g%, aspartic acid 2.68±0.03 g% 등을 함유하고 있었고, glutamic acid 및 aspartic acid가 총 아미노산 함유량의 18.07%, 12.32%를 차지하였으며, 구성 아미노산의 대부분을 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. 녹두 중, 총 유리 아미노산 함량은 336.77±8.66 mg%로 확인되었고, arginine이 81.97±1.31 mg%로 유리 아미노산의 24.34%를 차지하는 것으로 나타났다. glutamic acid, asparagine 및 aspartic acid 순으로 각각, 41.97±0.29, 28.47±0.15 및 26.97±0.12 mg% 함유된 것으로 분석되었다.

        본 연구에서는 초임계 이산화탄소를 사용해 도라지(balloonflower, Platycodon grandiflorum A. DC) 종자로부터 추출한 유지의 기능성과 에멀전 특성에 대해 조사하였다. 종자에 비해 도라지 종자유는 총 polyphenol(8 mg/100 g)의 함량이 낮았으나 α-tocopherol(14.15 mg/ 100 g), β -sitosterol(116 mg/100 g) 및 stigmasterol(8 mg/100 g)의 함량은 높았다. DPPH 라디칼 소거능으로 분석한 종자유(IC50=1235.5 μg/mL)의 항산화능은 종자(IC50=1138.2 μg/mL)와 유사하였다. 1%(w/w) lecithin 농도에서 도라지 종자유를 사용해 제조한 에멀젼은 탁도, 지방구 입자 크기 및 형상, 유화안정 성에서 콩기름을 사용한 에멀젼과 유사하였으나 들기름 사용 에멀젼보다는 탁도 및 유화안정성이 낮았고 지방구 입자는 크게 나타났다. 도라지 종자유 에멀젼의 표면장력은 들기름 에멀젼과 유사하였다.

        Reverse electrodialysis (RED) is green energy technologies to produce electric power using the salinity gradient. The salinity gradient generates chemical potential difference by transport of ions through the membranes. In RED system, anion exchange membrane (AEM) and cation exchange membrane (CEM) play a major role in transporting cation (Na+) and anion (Cl-), respectively. Significant technical issue is how to enhance conductivity and permselectivity of membrane simultaneously in the system. In this study, we characterized influences of cationic functional groups on AEM. We evaluated conductivity and permselectivity of AEM introduced three types of cationic salt functional groups.

        기존의 건설정보 분류체계는 객체들 간의 관계성 표현 제한으로 인해 교량 구조물에 그대로 적용하기에는 한계가 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위하여 분류체계 기술의 국제표준인 PLIB Part 42를 활용하여 이종의 도메인 간 정보공유의 기본이 되는 형상 정보모델링에 특화된 교량 구성요소의 제품 분류체계를 제시하였다. 특히, 제안한 분류체계는 교량 구성요소의 기능적 특징을 고려한 부품의 의미적 정보가 포함 가능하도록 하였다. 또한 본 연구에서 제안한 분류체계 를 실제 모델링에 활용하기 위한 기본 프레임워크를 제안하고 이를 활용한 교량 모델을 생성함으로써 제안한 분류체계가 실 무에서 활용 가능함을 보였다.

        고분자 분리막 시스템은 우수한 가공성, 재료의 다양성 등의 장점으로 인해 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 고분자 분리막 시스템이 타 공정과의 경쟁력을 가지기 위해서는 높은 투과성과 선택성, 화학적 내구성 등의 특징이 요구된다. 그러나 일반적으로 고분자 분리막은 특정기체에 대한 선택성이 향상되면 투과 성이 저하되는 trade-off관계를 가지고 있다. 투과도는 분리막 제조 시 다양한 공정조건과 제조 기술의 발전으로 한계를 나타내고 있다. 최근 들어 고분자 소 재에 관능기를 도입하여 기체의 용해성을 증가 시키거나 free volume을 증가시 켜 확산도를 증가시키는 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 브롬, N3가 치환 된 폴리술폰을 제조하였으며, 이를 이용하여 고분자 분리막을 제조하였다 제조 된 분리막은 DSC, TGA 등을 이용하여 열적 특성을 파악할 수 있었다. Time-lag 장비를 이용하여 기체분리 특성을 확인 하였다.

        Purpose : Ophthalmic soft contact lens using functional silicone monomer were manufactured and the physical properties of copolymerized materials were analyzed. Methods : The materials for ophthalmic hydrogel contact lenses were polymerized by adding 1,3-bis(TDS) and acrylated poly-(dimethyl siloxane) to DMA, HEMA and cross-linking agent(EGDMA) which are commonly used in ophthalmic hydrogel contact lenses. The hydrogel ophthalmic lens was manufactured by cast mould method. The manufactured ophthalmic hydrogel contact lenses were stored in a 0.9% NaCl normal saline for 24 hrs. And also, for the utility of functional silicone monomer as a high gas permeability and visible light transmittance material for ophthalmologic devices, the oxygen permeability, spectral transmittance and water contact were measured. Results : The value of oxygen permeability ranges from 16.83 to 36.59 x    ×     sec ×  ×   . The results showed that the average value of water content decreased as the ratio of additive increased. The visible light tansmittance of copolymerized ophthalmic soft contact lenses, was in the range 89~ 92%. Conclusions : The material containing acrylate poly-(dimethyl siloxane) and methacrylate siloxane is expected to be used usefully as a material for high oxygen permeability hydrogel contact lens.
