        ‘Venus Berry’ 품종은 경기도농업기술원에서 2011년도에 육성한 절화용 장미 신품종이다. 이 품종은 2006년도에 ‘Boy Friend’ 와 ‘GSR10314’ 를 교배하여 2007년도에 실 생을 양성하였다. 종자친으로 사용된 ‘Boy Friend’는 화 색이 보라색(RHS Color Chart Purple Group 76B)이며 개화소요일수는 45일이다. 화분친으로 사용된 ‘GSR10314’ 은 화색이 흐린 분홍색(RHS Color Chart Red Group 52C)이며 절화수명이 13일이다. 2008년부터 2011년까지 절화 특성검정을 실시한 결과 절화특성이 우수하여 최종 적으로 선발하여 명명하였다. 중형 스탠다드 형태의 꽃으 로서 화색은 연한 분홍색(RHS Color Chart Red Purple Group 69C)이다. 잎의 흰가루병 발생 정도는 적었다. 줄 기 10cm에 1.8개의 가시가 있으며 개화소요일수는 45일 이었으며 년간 절화수량은 194.1본/m2 이었다. 절화장 은 65.5cm이고 절화중은 36.8g이었다. 화폭 10.2cm, 화 고 4.3cm, 꽃잎수 43.6매이었으며 절화수명은 12일이었다. ‘Venus Berry’ 품종은 2013년 국립종자원에 품종보호권등 록(품종보호 제4447) 되었다.

        본 연구에서는 유기용매 추출물이 아닌 베리 열매 자체의 생리활성에 관한 정보와 천연보존료 및 건강기능식품 개발 의 가능성을 모색하는데 기초자료를 제공하고자 다양한 종 류의 베리 열매 착즙액의 항산화, 항균 작용 및 균 생육억제 효과를 비교․조사하였다. 총 폴리페놀은 체리, 아로니아 및 크랜베리가 다른 베리류에 비해 높게 함유되어 있었으며, 각 농도별로 측정한 베리 착즙액의 DPPH 라디칼 소거능은 모든 시료에서 농도에 따라 높아졌다. 특히, 아로니아, 크랜베리 및 라즈베리의 소거능이 다른 베리류에 비해 높은 것으로 확 인되었다. FRAP 활성은 6가지 베리 열매 중 아로니아의 활성 이 모든 농도에서 가장 높았으며, 100% 아로니아 착즙액의 FRAP 활성은 25% 포도 착즙액의 5배 이상이었다. 베리 열매 착즙액의 식중독 원인균에 대한 항균활성은 크랜베리와 라 즈베리가 대부분의 식중독 균에 대해 활성을 나타내었으며, 대부분의 베리 열매 착즙액이 그람양성균보다 그람음성균에 대한 생육저해활성이 더 큰 것으로 확인되었다. 크랜베리와 라즈베리의 농도별 항균활성은 원액과 75%의 농도에서만 각 각 7가지, 6가지 식중독 균에 대해 생육저해를 보였고, 50%, 25%의 농도에서는 식중독 균 중 일부만 생육저해를 나타내 었으며, 10% 이하의 농도에서는 모든 식중독 원인균에 대한 항균활성을 보이지 않았다. 이상의 결과로 아로니아, 크랜베 리 및 라즈베리는 다른 베리에 비해 높은 항산화 및 항균활성 을 보임으로써 천연보존료 및 기능성식품 소재로써의 이용 성이 높을 것으로 판단된다.

        Yellow tea thrip (Scirtothrips dorsalis Hood (Thysanoptera: Thripidae) is anthophilous pests of many crops worldwide including five flavor berry. And the mealy bug (Pseudaulacaspis cockerelli (Cooley) (Hemiptera: Diaspididae)) is one of the hardest pests to control. Its body is covered with white waxy threads, which often make a chemical pest control useless. Five flavor berry (Schisandra chinensis Baill) is used in traditional Chinese medicine. So, the development of biological control against the major pest on five flavor berry is of great interest. In this work, a treatment of Chrysoperla nipponensis (Okamoto) was applied to five flavor berry fields infested by P. cockerelli and a treatment of Amblyseius swirskii Athias-Henriot was applied to two types of five flavor berry fields infested by S. dorsalis. Even though our tests found significant differences between the two culturing method(sod culture, nonwoven type mulching), the treatment of biological control agents decreased or a little increased the fruit damage, which was comparable to the chemical insecticide treatment. In the sod culture experiment, thrip population was significantly low and increased at a lower rate than in the nonwoven type mulching. It may be suggested from these results that A. swirskii and C. nipponensis as IPM program and sod culture could be incorporated into the integrated pest management system on five flavor berry.

        This study was conducted to investigate the physiological activity of acai berry (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) extracts from three different solvents (water, methanol, and ethanol). We measured total polyphenol and total flavonoid content, DPPH radical scavenging activity, nitrite scavenging activity, metal chelating effect, and reducing power. The extraction yield from water, methanol, and ethanol was 17.10, 9.50, and 37.51%, respectively. The highest total polyphenol content (10.54 mg/100 g) and total flavonoid contents (1.88 mg/100 g) was observed in water extract. DPPH radical scavenging activity was the highest in both water extract (72.03%) and methanol extract (74.79%) at levels of 5 mg/mL, which was similar to that of BHT (78.90%). Water extract yielded the highest metal chelating effect (92.54%) and reducing power (1.09) at levels of 5 mg/mL. Taken together, these findings suggest that extracts of acai berry can be used as functional food materials with antioxidative and nitrite scavenging activities.

        포도 '캠벨얼리' 품종의 결과지당 적정 엽수를 구명하기 위해 만개 30일 후에 결과지당 2송이를 착과시키고, 첫 번째 송이는 70~75립, 두 번째 송이는 35~40립으로 조절하고 변색기 이후 과실의 품질변화를 조사하였다. 과실의 당도는 변색기 이후 28일 동안 급격히 증가하였으나, 그 이후에는 일정한 수준을 유지하였다. 결과지당 15엽 처리구는 착색초기부터 빠르게 증가되어 착색 28일 후에 16.0˚Bx 이상 되었으나, 결과 지당 10엽 처리구는 12.0˚Bx로 증가폭이 적었고, 결과 지당 5엽 및 0엽 처리구는 당도 축적이 거의 없었다. 산도는 모든 처리구에서 28일 동안 감소되었고, 결과 지당 엽수가 많을수록 감소폭도 컸다. 결과지당 15엽 처리구는 변색기 이후 7일 동안 빠르게 감소된 후 수확기까지 꾸준히 감소되어 0.5%로 되었으나, 결과지당 5엽 및 0엽 처리구는 감소세가 완만하여 수확기에도 산 함량이 1.0%로 높았다. 과피색은 결과지당 15엽에서 hunter L과 b값이 변색기 이후 7일 동안 빠르게 감소되었고, 그 이후에는 완만하게 감소되어 수확기에 가장 낮은 값을 나타냈고, hunter a값은 변색기 이후 7일 동안 빠르게 증가되었고, 그 이후에는 약간 감소되었다. 그러나 결과지당 5엽 및 0엽 처리구는 hunter L과 b값이 변색기부터 완만하게 감소되었고, hunter a 값은 착색초기에는 현저히 낮았으나, 수확기까지 꾸준히 증가되었다. 총 안토시아닌은 결과지당 15엽 처리구에서 변색기 7일 후부터 빠르게 증가된 후 변색기 28일 후부터는 일정한 수준을 유지하였고, 다른 처리구는 변색기 이후 큰 차이가 없었다.

        구기자 잎을 이용한 특허제품 개발 및 기능성 식품소재에 관한 연구는 다수 진행되고 있으나 구기자 잎을 규격화 표준화하여 대량으로 공급할 수 있는 생산체계는 확립되어 있지 않다. 이에 구기자 육성품종 중에서 잎 생산에 알맞은 품종을 선발하고 가공용 잎을 대량으로 생산할 수 있는 예취시기를 확립코자 하였다. 구기자 11품종 중 잎 생산에 적합한 품종은 ‘명안’이었고, 다른 품종에 비하여 잎이 크고 분얼과 재생력이 왕성하였을 뿐만 아니라 잎 건물수량도 높았다. ‘명안’ 품종에서 구기자 잎 생산에 적합한 예취시기는 초장이 약 60 ~ 70 cm 자랐을 시기였고, 잎 수량은 5월 16일 수확 시 평균 106 ㎏/10a, 6월 20일 수확 시 평균 287 ㎏/10a로서 수확시기가 늦어질수록 직선적으로 증가되었다. 구기자의 지표성분인 베타인 함량을 1.43 ~ 2.63% 범위였고, 품종과 예취시기에 따라 함량이 다른데 생육이 진전 될수록 증가되는 경향이었다. 구기자나무 잎의 주요 생리기능성을 조사한 결과 항고혈압성을 나타내는 ACE 저해활성이 평균 84.4 ~ 90.8%로 높은 편이었고, 나머지 생리기능성은 20% 이하로 낮거나 검출되지 않았다.

        Background : Ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. meyer) is a medicinal herb which has been used for prevention and treatment of diseases in Korea, China and Japan for a long time. Ginseng is well known to have effects such as immunity enhancement, anticancer, antioxidative effect and blood circulation improvement. These pharmacological effects of ginseng have been reported to be due to various ginsenoside components. Recently, many studies have been actively conducted to identify the major components and functionalities of ginseng berry. Ginsenoside, a representative active ingredient of ginseng, is distributed in various parts of ginseng. However, contents of certain ingredient such as ginsenoside Re which have antidiabetic effect is higher in ginseng berry. This study was conducted to compare ginsenoside content and UV blocking effect according to the color of ginseng berry. Methods and Results : The ginseng berry extracts for the component analysis and UV-blocking effect test were obtained by harvesting the ginseng berry by color in 4-years-old ginseng cultivated, and then removing the seeds and extracting only the flesh of the ginseng berry and the peel with methanol. Ginsenosides analysis was carried out by dissolving 100 ㎎ of the extract in 2 ㎖ of methanol, filtering it with a 0.50 ㎛ filter and using it as a sample for HPLC analysis. Analysis of ginsenoside content showed that the total ginsenoside and ginsenoside Rb2 content of yellow ginseng berry were 23.9 and 2.9 ㎎/g, while those of red berry was 19.6 and 2.3 ㎎/g, respectively. The UV blocking effect of yellow ginseng berry was 17.4%, which was higher than that of red berry. Conclusion : The ginsenoside content and UV blocking effect of yellow ginseng berry were superior to those of red berry. These results suggested that yellow berry is more useful as cosmetic material for UV protection.

        Background: This study was carried out to determine the best time for collecting ginseng berries without reducing the ginsenoside- Re content of ginseng roots, which are used as food, medicine, or cosmetic materials. Methods and Results: The test variety of ginseng used in this study was is Chunpung, which was collected from a 4-year-old ginseng field. Ginseng berries were collected at 7, 14, 21, 28, 35, 42, 49, and 56 days after flowering. The number of berry bunches per 1.62㎡ ranged from 43.4 to 61.4, while the weight of berries per 1.62㎡ was the greatest when they were collected 49 days after flowering. The root fresh weight per 1.62㎡ was increased by 0.21 - 1.00 ㎏ compared with that before the test, but root weight gain was decreased as the berry collection time was delayed. Total ginsenoside content of 4-year-old ginseng was the highest when berries were collected 7 days after flowering, while the ginsenoside-Re contents was the highest when collection was done 14 days after flowering. Conclusions: The most suitable period for ginseng berry collection was proposed to be from 14 to 21 days after flowering, as this is when the content of ginsenoside-Re, which is useful as a medicinal or cosmetic material, is still high and the ginseng root has not yet decreased in weight.

        Background : This study aimed to determine the anti-osteoclastogenic effects of extracts from CK berry’s and identify the underlying mechanisms in vitro. Methods and Results : Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are signal mediators in osteoclast differentiation. AM extracts inhibited ROS production in RAW264.7 cells in a dose-dependent manner and exhibited strong radical scavenging activity. The extracts also attenuated the number of tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP)-positive multinucleated osteoclasts. To attain molecular insights, the effect of the extracts on the signaling pathways induced by receptor activator of nuclear factor kappa B ligand (RANKL) were also investigated. RANKL triggers many transcription factors through the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and ROS, leading to the induction of osteoclast-specific genes. The extracts significantly suppressed RANKL-induced activation of MAPKs, such as extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), c-Jun-N-terminal kinase (JNK), and p38, and consequently led to the downregulation of c-Fos and nuclear factor of activated T cells 1 (NFATc1) protein expression which ultimately suppress the activation of the osteoclast-specific genes, cathepsin K, TRAP, calcitonin receptor, and integrin β3. Conclusion : In conclusion, our findings suggest that AM extracts inhibited RANKL-induced osteoclast differentiation by downregulating ROS generation and inactivating JNK/ERK/p38, nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB)-mediated c-Fos and NFATc1 signaling pathway.

        최근 내수면양식장의 BFT 양식 배출수의 도시농업용 활용에 관한 연구가 활발하게 본 연구진에 의해 진행되어지고 있다. 하지만 도시농 업용으로 한정된 연구에서 비료가 다량으로 사용되어 지고 있는 과수에의 활용에 대한 연구 필요성이 대두되어 누구나 가정에서도 재배가 가능한 블루베리에서 BFT 배출수의 효과를 구명하여 보고자 본 연구를 수행하였다. BFT 배출수는 내수면양식연구센터 틸라피아를 양식 하고 있는 양식조의 물을 채취하여 무처리, 농장 관행법, 배출수 원액, 배출수 1/2희석액, 배출수 1/4 희석액 시비 등 5처리로 실험하여 다음 과 같은 결론을 얻었다. 블루베리의 총생산량과 과립당 무게는 처리간 유의성이 없어 배출수가 기존의 비료를 대체하여도 블루베리 열매 의 생육에 영향을 주지 않아 비료로서의 이용가능성이 있었음을 확인하였다. 그리고 과실내 무기성분의 변화에서는 나트륨과 철의 함량이 높게 나와 이를 줄일 수 있는 배출수 비료화의 또 다른 연구 점을 보여주고 있다. 블루베리의 고유 기능성 물질인 안토시아닌의 함량 결과에 서는 처리에 따른 일관성을 보이고 있지 않아 기능성물질의 변화에도 배출수의 처리가 나쁜 영향을 보이지 않음을 알 수 있어 블루베리의 재배에 있어서도 배출수의 비료활용도는 가능성이 있다는 결론을 얻을 수 있었다. 하지만 비료로서의 사용가능성을 더 높이기 위해서는 보다 정제된 배출수의 사용과 효과를 얻기 위해서는 배출수의 가공적 연구가 더욱 필요하다고 판단된다.

        본 연구에서는 저온추출 뿐만 아니라 효소처리를 이용하여 생과형 블루베리 과일음료생산을 위한 최적의 방법을 확립하고자 하였다. 생리학적 기능성물질 추출 시 열에 의한 영양손실을 막기 위해 저온을 사용하였다. 또한 다양한 효소처리를 이용하여 혼탁 방지 및 추출수율 향상을 위한 최적의 추출조건을 확립하고자 하였다. 블루베리를 cellulase, pectinase 및 cellulase:pectinase(1:1) 혼합 효소와 효소 처리량, 추출온도, 추출시간, 추출 교반속도 등을 고려한 다양한 조건으로 추출하였을 때, 가장 우수한 추출 조건을 조사하였다. cellulase로 처리할 경우, 추출률이 85.72-86.55%, pectinase 처리구는 87.06-87.93%, cellulase:pectinase(1:1) 혼합 처리할 경우, 86.84-88.14%의 추출률을 나타냈다. 추출 온도는 45℃에서 87.91±0.05%, 3시간 추출 하였을 경우 87.88±0.10%, 교반속도는 90 rpm에서 가장 높은 추출결과를 보였다. 블루베리 추출액의 당도 및 pH는 추출 조건에 관계없이 모든 처리구에서 통계학적으로 유사한 결과를 보였으나, 총 폴리페놀 함량은 pectinase 처리구에서 18.62 mg/g으로 가장 높은 값을 나타냈다. 유리당 함량은 모든 시료에서 과당과 포도당 두 가지 당류만 검출되었으며 cellulase 효소 0.10%를 처리한 블루베리 추출액의 유리당 함량이 포도당 0.51%, 과당 0.49%로 가장 높았으나 다른 처리구와 유의적인 차이는 없었다. 블루베리를 이용하여 생과일형 음료 제조를 위한 최적 조건은 cellulase: pectinase(1:1) 혼합효소 0.1%를 첨가하여 45℃ 온도에서 90 rpm의 교반속도로 조사되었다.

        Background : Recently, ginseng (Panax ginseng C.A. Meyer.) berry has been used as a health-promoting supplements. Also, Mulberries (Morus alba L.) fruit have been used in traditional herbal medicine to treat and prevent diabetes. In this study, we measured the cytotoxicity after fermentation of the extracts in Panax Ginseng Berry and Mulberry Fruit. Methods and Results : The extracts were prepared by decoction for 3 hours in distilled water (100 g/L). The dried extract was then dissolved in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) in preparation for use. Cell viability was examined by an MTT assay. RAW 264.7 cells were seeded at 1 × 104/mL densities in 96-well plates. Each grouping had a non-treated group as the control. The extracts were added to each well and incubated for 24 hours at 37°C and 5% CO2. The MTT solutions (5 mg/mL) were added to each well, and the cells were cultured for another 2 hours. The supernatant was then discarded, and 100 μL of dimethyl sulfoxide was added to each well. The optical density was read at 540 nm. Conclusion : Probiotics and prebiotics modulate the composition of human and domestic animal gut microbiota. The beneficial effects may result from suppression of harmful microorganisms or stimulation of organisms which contribute in a positive way to the nutrition and health of human and domestic animal. Recently, fermentation using microorganisms for the production of more effective compounds has been extensively studied. In particular, the novel pharmacological effects of a new compound generated by fermentation have been reported. Some previous studies have demonstrated that Fermented herbal medicine extract showed better bioactivity than normal herbal Plants extract when used at the same concentration.

        Background : Ginseng berry(GB) is useful not only just in growing source but also in functional food source. The ingredients of crops varies with the maturity. So, GB ingredients need to be analyse for optimal harvesting stage of GB against appropriate use. Methods and Results : This study was carried out to determine optimal harvesting stage of GB. GB was harvested 5 day periods from July 12, started harvesting when pollination was 50 days old, until August 1. GB was analysed color, ginsenosides and fatty acids using colorimeter, LC and GC, respectively. As the majority of GB increase, color of freeeze drying GB powder were changed that lightness and yellowness was increased, redness was decreased. Ginsenoside Re, Rb1 and Rb2, major ginsenoside in GB, were increased and Ginsenoside F1, Rk1 and Rg5, minor ginsenoside, were increased for a time and then decreased. Oleic acid, the main fatty acid in GB, was decreased, and linoleic acid and total fatty acid content was increased to July 27 and then decreased. Conclusion : Total ginsenosides content was the highest on August 1 and total fatty acid content was the highest July 27. As the majority of GB increase, ratio of oleic acid on total fatty acid was decreased and linoleic acid was increased. Thus, GB is that the longer a harvest period and the more useful for food source.

        포도 송이다듬기는 많은 노동력이 필요하므로 노동력을 감 소시킬 수 있는 새로운 송이다듬기 기술을 개발하기 위하여 연 구를 수행하였다. 포도의 송이다듬기 기술은 지경솎기가 알솎 기에 비하여 작업효율성이 6.7배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 과실 품질은 지경솎기 및 알솎기가 무처리구보다 과방과 과립수가 적지만 가용성 고형물은 높고, 산도는 낮게 나타났으며 압상률 도 적은 것으로 나타났다. 송이다듬기에 의한 포도의 송이 품질 균일도를 조사하기 위해 송이의 기부, 중간 및 선단 부분의 가용 성 고형물 함량과 산도를 측정한 결과 350~450 g의 과방중을 가진 포도송이가 송이 내 위치에 따른 품질의 차이가 나타나지 않아 적합한 것으로 판단되었다.

        Edible berries are rich in anthocyanins and phenolic acids, compounds that possess antioxidant, anti-inflam-matory, and other biological activities. Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities of five berries including acaiberry(Euterpe oleracea Mart.), Aronia/black chokeberry (Aronia melanocarpa), blueberry (Vaccinium angustifolium), black cur-rant (Ribes nigrum L.), and cranberry (Vaccinium macrocarpon) were assessed. The Aronia G (prepared by GreenField s.c.)exhibited the highest antioxidant activities as shown in total phenolic (138.81㎎ CAE/g), flavonoid (3.68㎎ QE/g), andanthocyanin (20.31㎎/g) contents compared to the other berries. It also showed the strongest scavenging activities such asDPPH (69.69㎎ vitamin C/g) and ABTS radical scavenging activity (757.79µmol trolox/g). Aronia G exhibited strong ferricreducing antioxidant power (553.98µmol vitamin C/g), and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (820.92µmol trolox/g). Inaddition, black currant and Aronia showed stronger inhibition of nitric oxide production in lipopolysaccharide-stimulatedRAW 264.7cell than the other berries. According to the above results, the Aronia and other edible berries have notably highlevel of antioxidant activities and they could be used as a potential source of natural antioxidants.

        Anti-inflammatory activity of the extracts of ginseng berry (GBE) was investigated through the evaluation of its inhibitory effect on the production of inflammatory meditator, nitric oxide(NO), tumor necrocis factor-alpha (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6) in LPS-induced RAW264.7 macrophage cells. GBE was fractionated using n-hexane, chloroform, ethylacetate, buthanol and H2O, sequentially. RAW264.7 cells were induced 100ng/mℓ of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) and treated with 0, 1.6, 8, 40 and 200μg/mℓ of GBE fractions. LPS-induced NO production on all of GBE fractions was inhibited with increasing added concentration of GBE fractions. Chloroform fraction of GBE was the most effective in inhibiting LPS-induced TNF-α production. Hexane, chloroform and H2O fractions of GBE exhibit strong inhibition LPS-induced IL-6 production. Especially, H2O fractions of GBE was the most effective in inhibiting LPD-induced IL-6 production without significant cytotoxicity in RAW264.7 cells, and reduced the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPK) and IkB phosphorylation. These results indicate that H2O fractions of GBE exhibits strong anti-inflammatory effects by inhibition of NF-kB by inhibition of p-38 on MAPK and IkB phosphorylation.

        This study was conducted to select plant growth regulators effective at ginseng berry set inhibition to help root growth in Korean ginseng (Panax ginseng C. A. Meyer). PGRs (ethephon, gibberellic acid, maleic hydrazide, coumarin) were applied to field grown 5-year-old Korean ginseng between one and two times, before and during bloom in 2009, 2010. The number of treatment was more effective in ginseng berry set inhibition when used two times compared with one time in GA 1,000 ppm, MH (5,000, 10,000 ppm), coumarin (5,000, 10,000 ppm) treatment. According to treatment period of plant growth regulator, ginseng berry set inhibition rate from 20days before flowering date to 5days after blooming was the highest in MH 5000 ppm showing 99.9% and the lowest in GA 100 ppm showing 32.8%. The spray treatments of Ethephon (50, 150 ppm) and MH (5,000, 10,000 ppm) from 20 days before the flowering bloom up to 5 days before, and coumarin (5,000, 10,000 ppm) from 20 days to 6 days and before blooming that induced the inhibitory effect more than 90% after 12 weeks. Considering ginseng berry set inhibition characteristics and treatment period ethephon and coumarin was important about applied period but, MH treatment appeared to effective ginseng berry set inhibition regardless of treatment period.

        A new rose variety, ‘Venus Berry’ was selected from the progenies of a cross between ‘Boy Friend’ and ‘GSR10315’ by rose breeding team of the Gyeonggi-Do Agricultural Research and Extension Services(GARES) in 2011. ‘Venus Berry’ was crossed in 2007 and seedlings were produced. After the test of specific characters from 2008 to 2011, it was finally selected and named. ‘Venus Berry’ was developed because of distinctive characters such as growth uniformity and high yielding potential. The petal of flower is so thick and has no scratch. A standard type with large sized flower, it has light pink(Red Purple Group 69C) color flower. ‘Venus Berry’ takes 45 days from pruning to blooming and cut flower productivity was 194.1 stems/m2 in a year. The length of cut flower was long with 65.5 cm. It has 10.2 cm in flower diameter and 43.6 in petal numbers per flower. Vase life of the this cultivar could be as long as 12 days.
