Amino acid transporters are essential for the growth and proliferation in all living cells. Among the amino acid transporters, the system L amino acid transporters are the major nutrient transport system responsible for the Na+-independent transport of neutral amino acids including several essential amino acids. The L-type amino acid transporter 1 (LAT1) is over-expressed to support cell growth in malignant tumors. The double stranded RNA-mediated RNA interference (RNAi) analysis can be in a wide variety of eukaryotes to induce the sequence-specific inhibition of gene expression. In this study, we examined the effect of LAT1 short interfering RNA (siRNA) on cell growth using siRNA of LAT1 in the KB human oral squamous cell carcinoma. In the RT-PCR analysis and western blot analysis, the siRNA of LAT1 inhibited expressions of LAT1 mRNA and protein. The uptake of [14C]L-leucine was inhibited by siRNA of LAT1. In the MTT assay, the siRNA of LAT1 inhibited the growth of the KB cells in the time-dependent manner, indicating that the growth inhibition of KB cell by the siRNA of LAT1 is induced by the blocking of neutral amino acid transport mediated by LAT1. These results suggest that the transport of neutral amino acids including several essential amino acids into the KB human oral squamous cell carcinoma is mediated mainly by LAT1. Further, the LAT1 would be a new target for the inhibition of cancer cell growth.

This paper introduces the system of England in terms of the accountability of prison. Since the prison riot arose in 1990, England has started the reformation of prison in a human and rational way. In regard to the reformation of prison, this paper examines necessity of the accountability of prison, prison management and policy evaluation method, activity of prison inspectorate for transparency of prison administration, activity and limitation of boards of visitors (independent monitoring board), an appeal of dissatisfaction, the third-party agency, and the system of coroner. I write this paper in the hope that these reformations will be operated in Korea. I also look forward to meeting modernization, legislation and internationalization of prison in Korea.

This study was conducted to investigate the quality characteristics of low- fat pork patties containing fat replacers. Carrageenan(CA) in combination with pectin(PE) or potato starch(PO) was added as fat replacers and physicochemical properties were evaluated in low-fat pork patties cooked by oven-roasting or pan-frying. Uncooked and cooked pork patties formulated with fat replacers were higher in moisture and ash content and lower in fat content than those of control. The cooking yield and reduction in diameter of pork patties were significantly improved by the addition of fat replacers(p<0.05). Pork patties formulated with CA had the highest fat retention, while CA+PE had the highest water holding capacity. Hunter s L(lightness) value was not different from among patties and a(redness) and b(yellowness) values were higher in carrageenan-based patties than those of control patties. Hardness was higher in carrageenan-based patties than that of control and cohesiveness and springiness showed no difference among patties. Sensory analysis showed that flavor, juiciness and palatability of carrageenan-based patties were superior to control patties and combined use of CA with PE or PO provided improved acceptability of low-fat pork patties over that from using single carrageenan.

포란한 성충 암컷 Tigriopus japonicus(요각류)를 내분비계 교란물질로 잘 알려져 있는 4-nonylphenol에 노출하여 생존율과 포란율의 변화를 살펴보았다. 실험생물은 2004년 4월 제주도 구안연안에서 플랑크톤망으로 쓸어 잡기로 채집한 후 실내순응을 한 달 동안 시켰다 치사율은 노출농도의 높아지면 증가하였으나 그 경향이 뚜렷하지 않았다. 반면, 노출 후 처음으로 치사한 개체가 발생하는 시기는 비처리군과 처리군에 따라 명백한 차이를 보였

IASL(iodo acetamide) and MSL(maleimide) disordered the orderly helix arrangement of myosin in the rest state of spin level. Especially the effect of IASL was great. Equatorial refiection(10,11) change inferred that myosin head was moved to the vicinity of actin filament by spin level. The intensity change of 143a and 72a could offer information of the mass projection of population of myosin heads along the :filament axis. The slope of intensity profile of the mass projection of 143a and reflection of IASL is appeared and that of MSL is appeared sharply. The decrease of 215a reflection intensity is appeared the periodical characteristic of 143a reflection by spin label. The raise of MSL actin reflection at 51a and 59a in the actin reflection change refers that the shifted myosin head binds a certain actin or changes an actin structure by spin label effect. Because iodo acetamide has a tendency to decease the actin reflection, actin dose not bind myosin head. From this result, we could conclude that LASL and MSL are spin labeled on SH of myosin head and disordered the helix arrangement of actin.

The myotubularin (MTM) family constitutes one of the most highly conserved protein-tyrosine phosphatase subfamilies in eukaryotes. MTM1, the archetypal member of this family, is mutated in X-l띠ked myotubular myopathy, whereas mutations in the MTM related (MTMR)2 gene cause the type 4B Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, a severe hereditary motor and sensory neuropathy. In this study, we investigated the role of pleckstrin homology (PH) domain of MTMR2. We demonstrate here that the PH domain of MTMR2 directly interacts with phosphatidylinositol (PtdIns)(3)P, PtdIns(5)P, and to a Iesser extent Pt，이 ns(4)P. Furthermore, MTMR2-PH domain is required for targe띠g Mη00 to the 다πoplasmic compartment. Mutation in the PH domain abolished its phospholipid binding ability and MTMR2 subcel1ular localization. These results su잃.est that the PH domain regulates MTMR2 1αalization and function through its interaction with phosphoinosi디des and give us the clue to understand the pathogenic effect of PH domain

국내에서 재배되고 있는 약용버섯인 상황(P. baumii) 자실체의 열수 추출물로 부터 건강 기능성 식품 및 의약품개발의 기초자료를 제공하고자 항암실험 및 면역효과에 대한 실험을 수행하였다. 본 연구에서 사용한 PMO-P4의 경우 rDNA의 ITS부위의 염기서열 분석을 통한 계통분석결과 P. baumii로 판명 되었으며, PMO-P4 자실체로부터 열수 추출한 성분(HWE-P4)을 160mg/kg/day의 농도로하여 Sarcoma-180 암세포를 유발한 마우스에 경구투여한 결과 A군의 경우, 종양억제효과는 35.3%로 대조군보다 유의성 있게 감소하였으며(p<0.05), 생명연장 효과는 156%증가한 것으로 나타났다. 시료의 경구투여 방법에 있어서도 시료를 먼저 2주간 투여한 후 암세포를 접종한 A군의 경우가 시료 투여와 암세포 접종을 동시에 실시한 B군의 경우 보다 종양억제효과 및 생명연장효과가 높았음을 알 수 있었다. A군의 경우 대조군에 비하여 CD4/CD8의 비율이 71.4%증가 하였으며, CD25(IL-2receptor chain)분자의 발현을 5배정도 증가시키는 것으로 관찰되었다. 이러한 결과로 보아 P. baumii로 밝혀진 PMO-P4 자실체로부터 열수 추출한 성분의 항암효과는 암세포를 직접 공격하여 항암효과를 나타내기 보다는 T cell등의 면역세포를 활성화시킴으로써 암세포를 억제 혹은 사멸시키는 것으로 생각된다.

On contraction of the muscles, marked changes in X-ray reflections are observed, suggesting that conformational changes of contractile molecules and the movement of myosin heads during muscle contraction. Time slice requires tension peak after the onset of stimulation and the height of tension peak depends on the number of twitch cycle. The muscles were stimulated by five successive stimuli at an interval of 80 ms started while the tension was still being exerted by the muscles. The intensity of I11, I10, 143a and 215a reflection measured with 5ms time resolution and is recorded in isometric tension. The peak height of I11 and 143a intensity is changed after the onset of a stimulation Ii, and the length of twitch is shortened by successive twitches in the case of stimulation Ti. On the other hand, the peak height of In and 215a intensity starts to decrease at the 1st twitch and remains constant at low peak height without appreciable recovery during the contraction term. In the case of successive twitch stimulation, the myosin heads of muscle are once moved from their resting position and never returned to their initial position.

In the background of his theory of anti-self there are Indian and Japanese Religious thought, Celtic folklore, Spiritualism, the Order of Golden Dawn, and the great poet Dante. "Ego Dominus Tuss" is a dialogue between two men, Hic and Ille, who discuss poetry and creative process. Ille, like Yeats, is a daimonic poet walking in the moonlight. For Yeats, lunar and subjective were always the antitheses to solar and objective. Poesis called for complete subjectivity, for entry into the friendly silence of the moon. The moon is always associated with feminine divinity. With the help of a mask, Ille is calling to the opposite of his daily self, his anti-self. In the end of the poem, Ille found his anti-self. In Anima Hominis Yeats said that the saint like Christ and Buddha, and the poets like Dante and Keats attained the anti-self. The anti-self is a egoless self, the higher self. Saint, hero, and poet are all inspired. Yeats said, "Saint or hero works in his own flesh and blood and not in paper or parchment, have more deliberate understanding of that other flesh and blood." Only when Yeats became the anti-self could he become a totally subjective mind, overcome the illusion of duality, and find a "revelation of realty." Yeats could receive daimonic inspiration only during visionary experiences. Finally Yeats found the anti-self he felt ecstasy. According to his theory, the production of art was an expression of the artist's longing for "Unity of Being." In Per Amica silentia Lunae Yeats said "the poet, because he may not stand within the sacred house but lives amid the whirlwinds that beset its threshold, may find his pardon."
