This study was conducted to investigate the proper design of alpha board used to support concrete blocks under high loads. A board height of 50 mm was appropriate to ensure a deflection of 3 mm or less under a load of 5 tons. The trapezoidal shape of the vibration absorbers in the interior of the board reduced the maximum deflection by evenly distributing the deflection across the board width. The height of the board is the most important variable in preventing deflection, and for the same board height, adjusting the thickness of the top and bottom plates was more effective in reducing the amount of deflection than adjusting the thickness of the stiffener. The theoretical solution is a good tool for easily predicting the deflection of the board, as it shows a difference of 5 to 15% from the simulation results. However, as a 2D prediction model, the theoretical solution cannot represent the distribution of deflection over the entire board area, so the 3D simulations are necessary in predicting the amount of deflection over the entire board.
Advanced technoloigy, according to the development of science, is also applied to weapons systems to prepare for future battles. But the emergence of new technologies leads to DMSMS(Diminishing Manufacturing Source and Material Shortage) because it brings a short life cycle of parts. In particular, DMSMS frequently appear in electronic parts with a short launch cycle for new products. The life support system of K2MBT(Main Battle Tank) is a key functional item related to crew survivability and convenience. Recently, various parts have been cut off on the life support system, requiring a redesign of the Control Box. The K2MBT is not only central to domestic production but also plays a key role in export projects to countries like Poland, making continuous production necessary. This study aimed to ensure the sustainability of component production and reduce maintenance costs by redesigning the control box.
As the importance of the indoor environment increases. As part of a study to improve range hood performance, a flow analysis of chamber casing was conducted. flow analysis was performed by applying Realizable ( ) Model. For flow analysis, “STAR-CCM+” program of “SIEMENS” was used. It was analyzed how changes in inlet velocity, outlet velocity(flow rate) and static pressure increase occur according to changes in the shape of the chamber casing. Flow analysis was performed by changing the shape of the chamber casing limitedly, but the results were not helpful in improving the performance of range hood.
In this study, we addressed the prevention of fire extinguishing device malfunction caused by noise in the fire detector of automatic fire extinguishing devices applied to mobile equipment such as armored vehicles and tanks. The automatic fire extinguishing system consists of a fire detection unit, an automatic control unit, and a fire suppression unit. In the case of a fire detector, it is a major component of the fire detection unit. Even though no fire occurred during operation in the field, a number of fire extinguisher sprays occurred, and the malfunction of the fire detector, which is a fire detection unit, was reproduced. The cause was identified as noise in the fire detector connector due to vibration and shock that may occur during operation of the mobility equipment. In order to solve this problem, noise generated momentarily from a fire detector is treated as an exception, and when a fire signal is transmitted from the fire detector to the automatic control unit for more than a certain period of time, Software has been improved to enable fire extinguishers to operate. This study analyzed the causes of malfunctions in automatic fire extinguishing devices, which are components of mobile equipment, and derived improvement measures to improve the reliability of automatic fire extinguishing devices.
KCEV(Korean Combat Engineer Vehicle) perform the mission of removing mines and various military obstacles buried in the battlefield and opening passageways. It is characterized by modifying the chassis of the K1 series tank and equipping it with an excavator, track-width mine plough, and magnetic signature duplicator. KCEV has a steering wheel, and steering force is transmitted to the transmission steering lever through the steering linkage and acceleration linkage. KCEV can be steered in up to 3 gears, and it was confirmed that there was a risk of interference with the acceleration linkage as a bending occurred in the steering linkage when steering to the right in 3 gears. In this study, we examined the bending of the acceleration linkage and proposed a method to increase the stiffness of the acceleration linkage tube to improve it. Structural analysis was conducted to confirm the effect of increasing rigidity, and the improvement was confirmed by applying it to an actual vehicle. As a result, it was confirmed that not only the bending displacement of the steering linkage was reduced, but also the stress in the bent area was reduced.
In this article, to solve the problems about obsolescence of parts and unable to driving turret when internal components are failure, the DC-DC boost converter in the gun/turret drive system of mobile weapon was improved. The power converting circuit in converter is changed by applying the latest components, and the control circuit is changed from analog to digital. Also, the power converting circuits were modularized in three parallel so that it could be driven even when some components failed. The improved DC-DC boost converter secured stability such as converting to voltage in a linear manner in the entire section from the start of boosting to the end. Also, through the modular configuration, turret driving system can operates when some components failed.
The rapid urbanization and industrial growth have increased the demand in construction, maintenance, and infrastructure, leading to significant advancements in aerial work vehicle technology. This study focuses on the structural performance of ultra-high-strength steel plates of varying thicknesses used in telescopic booms, which is a critical component of aerial work vehicles. This study aims to address the cost issues associated with the previously used 5mm thick plates by evaluating the structural integrity of thinner plates. Using finite element analysis (FEA), the study analyzes stress and displacement for different thicknesses, specifically targeting the first boom segment, which bears the most load. The results indicate that while 3mm and 3.2mm thick plates are unsuitable due to buckling, the 4mm thick plate meets safety criteria with a safety factor of 2.51 and reduces costs by over 20%. By using 4mm thick ultra-high-strength steel for the first boom segment is cost-effective, providing structural integrity and an applicable solution for aerial work vehicle manufacturers.
In order to prevent disconnection of the hydraulic pump EDV cable, this study judged the vibration generated by the pump as the greatest effect on disconnection, and confirmed the vibration effect. And it had a structure that was vulnerable to vibration because of the wire flow space inside the EDV cable connector. After applying the improved adapter, vibration analysis, excitation test, and bending strength test were performed to confirm the effectiveness of design change and improvement. As a result of vibration analysis, the amount of vibration was reduced by about 10 times compared to the existing product, and the strength increased by about 4 times in the bending strength test was confirmed to increase the effect of preventing disconnection due to vibration.
This study is to deal with the cause analysis and improvement ideas for breakage to hydraulic pipes mounted on self-propelled howitzers. Hydraulic piping is one of the core components of a hydraulic system. This is because in the case of devices that use hydraulic pressure as a power source, hydraulic oil is supplied through hydraulic piping to operate. Compared to the main hydraulic assembly, its importance is low, so there are not many studies or failure analysis cases on it. However, contrary to this, cases of hydraulic pipe failure account for a significant proportion of the total number of failures, requiring in-depth technical review. In this study, we aim to analyze the causes of failures in hydraulic pipes of self-propelled guns operated by the military and propose improvement measures. It is expected that this study will aid as a reference for problem solving when similar failures occur in the future.
Recently, corrosion problems caused by quarantine disinfectant have occurred in the door panel of commercial trucks. As a way to solve this problem, a drain hole is being drilled in the door panel, and the door panel is being designed again for this purpose. Reinforcing parts such as frames or brackets for rigidity are attached to the inner and outer door panels, and spot welding is performed for assembly. X-rays and nugget diameter measurements of the welds were performed to confirm the results of performing according to various conditions for such spot welding. Through this study, it was confirmed that the pressing force had a greater effect on the welding quality than the amount of welding current.
