This paper presents the detection and diagnosis of air-conditioner electromagnetic sound through noise measurements. Electromagnetic sound originating from the motor is an unpleasant source of unwanted noise that should be detected at the manufacturing stage. A detection system using sound measurements was built and a detection algorithm based on FFT analysis is presented. Sound measurements are preferable over direct vibration measurement because it is non-contact and low cost. Experimental results show that our sound measurement system can detect electromagnetic sound effectively compared to using vibration measurements.

In this paper, the current of ECV block is connected to compressor crankcase on which the Pc port of Ps port Euro is formed(Type-1). Pc Port Internal Bellows are supposed to be affected by changes at the flow of refrigerant to the solenoid valve inside inhalation. There is Ps port at the direction of flow characteristic in predicting and analyzing. At suction pressures of 0.2MPa and 1.5MPa, maximum flow rates become 46m/s and 129m/s respectively. The refrigerant is discharged by compressor rotation around the axis of rotation from the inflow of port(Pd)(Type-2). By predicting and analyzing inlet flow, suction pressures become 2.7MPa and 3.6 MPa when maximum flow rates of 177.5m/s and 205m/s are affected on Pc ports of Euros with pressures of 1.2KPa and 3.8KPa respectively. This study result can be applied as the basic data for design of ECV.

‘Hoon’ is a traditional musical instrument known to be coming into our country in King Yejong of Koryo Dynasty. Because of the structural problem, the traditional Hoon has a limited musical range. Nowadays Hoon is played only in Confucian ritual music among Korean traditional music. Our research team have developed the improved Hoon which retains the sound of the traditional Hoon, as we can play western music as well as traditional music by this instrument. This new instrument has been tested with the traditional Hoon and Ocarina, and very promising experimental results have been obtained. The pitch of the sound of Hoon is well suited to harmonic scale, and the range of sound has been expanded while retaining timbre compared to that of the traditional Hoon.

In this study, carbon/epoxy composite DCB(double cantilever beam) specimens based on K-means clustering and wavelet transform analyses are presented. For the fracture Mode I, the fiber orientation θ = [0 ]24 and θ = [±45]12 both shown up stable crack growth in DCB testing. For the fiber orientation θ = [0 ]24 , the continuous type AE signal showed at central frequency 130~270kHz, which means that matrix micro cracking was occurred. The Burst type AE signal was occurred at central frequency 200~300kHz due to fiber bridging and fiber breaking. Other burst type AE signals were occurred at central frequency 130~180kHz with very high amplitude due to fiber bridging. For the fiber orientation θ = [±45]12 , the burst type signal showed at central frequency 220~300kHz, which means that fiber breaking was occurred. Mixed type of burst and continuous signals were captured at central frequency 250~480kHz due to fiber friction.

Among the various parts of automobile, automotive seat is the most fundamental item that ride comfort can be evaluated as the part contacted at human body. Dynamic stabilities on 3 kinds of models are analysed according to inside beam configuration of rear seat frame in this study. Model 1 has the basic design of straight beam. Model 2 has the beam that is curved slightly from model 1 configuration and model 3 has honeycomb structure. Total deformations and equivalent stresses are investigated when these models are crushed at side. Total deformations due to frequencies are also obtained and critical frequencies on these frequency responses are investigated. By comparing total deformation configurations of model 1,2 and 3, model 1 and 2 apply the damage to passengers but model 3 absorbs the damage. Model 1, 2 and 3 show total deformations of 482.7, 178.9 and 151.62 mm at the critical frequencies of 180, 200 and 150Hz respectively. Because model 3 does not apply the damage to passengers and the total deformation at critical frequency becomes minimum among three models on frequency response, this model becomes most stable among 3 kinds of models when crushed at side.

four kinds of models designed by the basis of British industrial standard and ISO international standard in this study. Energy release rates at mode 1 are investigated by the fatigue analysis of aluminum foam TDCB model bonded with adhesive. These analysis models are compared each other by classifying four models into m values with 2, 2.5, 3 and 3.5. The value of m as the gradient of model is represented with the function of crack length(a) and height of model(h). Through the correlation relation, the fracture behavior of bonded material is analyzed and these analysis results can be applied to composite structures of various areas. Mechanical property and fracture toughness of composite material are also analyzed in this study.

The object of this study is concerned about the optimal design of the supporting frame in a twist screen. Twist screen is widely used for grading and screening materials in the fields such as coal-selecting, mining-selecting, building materials, electrical power and chemical industry, etc. It is composed of base, supporting frame, vibrator, screen, spring, trough, clamp and etc. Especially, supporting frame in twist screen are stressed by high load, mostly it is shock-type loads. Nevertheless, design of base is dependent on experience, and it will cause reliability reduction and cost increase. The supporting plate is composed by the upper plate, the bracket and etc. This research purpose is to propose and verify a method to achieve higher product quality, lower costs, and far less physical testing. In this study, design parameters used for optimization are the upper plate thickness(8㎜, 10㎜, 12㎜) and the bracket thickness(8㎜, 10㎜, 12㎜) in the supporting frame. The result showed that base weight reduced to maximum 25.8% when compared with the current twist screen.

The temperature distribution of a generic battery module was analyzed for different flow rates of cooling fluid. For the given battery module design, the temperature of battery cell near the inlet is higher than that of battery cell near the outlet. Because the inlet is located at the higher elevation than the top of battery electrodes, most of the incoming cooling fluid flows directly towards the battery housing wall above the outlet. For the inlet velocities of 1, 3, 5 m/s, the maximum temperature differences are 28, 19, 15 degrees Celcius respectively.

A three dimensional numerical analysis was performed to study the PEMFC performance characteristics. Operating pressure and operating temperature were selected as simulation parameters. Operating pressure was varied as 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 atm. Operating temperature was varied as 323, 333, 343, 353, and 363 K. For a constant cell voltage condition, the maximum current density was obtained at operating pressure of 5 atm and operating temperature of 323 K. As operating pressure increases, current density increases because concentration of reactant gases increases. As operating temperature increases, current density decreases because concentration of reactant gases decreases due to high overpotential condition for the considered PEMFC.

Numerical analysis has been carried out to investigate thermal characteristics for hydraulic system. Overall performance of hydraulic system is largely influenced by oil flow field with heat transfer. Especially thermal characteristics for operating conditions with high oil temperature caused by heavy load and continuous operation are dominant. Oil temperature variation with time in the system is predicted for various flow conditions. Local fluid flow fields at the pipelines, valves, and oil pump in the hydraulic system are considered with thermodynamic and transport properties such as density and viscosity. These results in the study can be applied to the optimal design of hydraulic system.

The types, properties, and processes for wear resistance are reviewed from the viewpoints of material properties, metallurgy, and tribology. Though materials such as ceramics and polymers are used as the wear resistances materials to provide various useful properties, they can offer excellent corrosion and wear resistances as well as mechanical, physical and chemical properties when combined with metal materials. This paper presents, first of all, the concept of surface, kinds of wear resistances and methods based on the characteristics of surface. For that reason classifies wear resistances followed by each surface modification. This, combined with numerous sophisticated wear resistances processes recently developed, makes them the choice of modifications in a large number of applications. This review has been written with an emphasis on wear resistance consisting materials as opposed to metals, ceramics and polymers. It is hoped that this review will serve as a useful source for literature survey as well as an introduction to the subject of wear resistance with materials.

Silicon based magnetostrictive structures were fabricated for micro-wireless actuators, and finite element models were developed to predict mechanical characteristics of the actuated structures. These structures can be used to design wireless automotive parts and multi-function packaged micro automotive devices. In the fabrication process, amorphous magnetostrictive films of the optimized binary compound Tb0.4Fe0.6 and Sm0.47Fe0.53 were deposited with various thicknesses on the silicon membrane by DC magnetron sputtering using cast composite targets. Magnetic fields lower than 2KOe (0.2T) were applied for micro-system applications. These films have been tested in a simple cantilever arrangement and the predicted magnetostrictions of the actuated membranes through the developed FE models have been calculated.
