Production technology trials for PARC’s new fodder oat cultivar (PARC-Oat) were conducted at the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) under rain-fed conditions in Islamabad from 2021 to 2023. The effects of different fertilizer doses, planting densities (seed rates), and inter-row spacing on green fodder yield were studied. The experiment comprised four fertilizer doses of nitrogen and phosphorus (N:P) (55:30, 65:40, 75:50, and 85:60 kg/ha), four seed rate densities (30 kg/ac, 35 kg/ac, 40 kg/ac, and 45 kg/ac), and four inter-row spacings (15 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm, and 60 cm). Results based o n k ey p arameters a ffecting t he y ield of PARC-O at—namely plant height (cm), leaf area (cm²), leaves per tiller, number of tillers per plant, and green fodder yield (t/ha)—indicated that the maximum yield of 72.74 t/ha was observed with the fertilizer dose of 75:50 kg/ha (N:P). Similarly, a seed rate of 40 kg/ha produced optimal planting densities, resulting in the highest green fodder yield of 72.85 t/ha, while an inter-row spacing of 30 cm yielded the maximum green fodder yield of 74.30 t/ha. These results suggest that to achieve maximum green fodder biomass of oats, best management practices should include the application of a fertilizer dose of 75:50 (N:P), a seed rate of 40 kg/ha, and an inter-row spacing of 30 cm.

This study examined impact of agricultural cooperative membership on technical efficiency, income, and costs of coffee farmers in Southern Shan State, Myanmar. Using stochastic frontier analysis (SFA) and propensity score matching (PSM) methods, this study estimated average treatment effect on the treated of agricultural cooperative participation. Results showed that technical efficiency, total income, and total variable costs were significantly higher for cooperative members than for comparable non-members. However, net income of members is not significantly different from that of comparable non-members.

Maize (Zea mays. L) is one of the major sources of green fodder for livestock in Pakistan. Crop management plays a key role in obtaining high yields for green fodder. Fertilizer application, seed rate, and row spacing are critical components of crop management, which can significantly affect crop biomass. To determine the best production technology, a two-year (2021-2023) study was conducted at the research area of National Agricultural Research Center, Islamabad. Plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, green fodder yield per acre, and green fodder yield per hectare were recorded. Various row spacing (15 cm, 30 cm, 45 cm, and 60 cm), fertilizer ratio (N: P = 55:30, 65:40, 75:50, and 85:60), and seed rates (30 kg/ac, 35 kg/ac, 40 kg/ac, and 45 kg/ac) were applied. Results obtained experiments revealed that in both growing seasons, the maximum green fodder yield was obtained when fertilizer N: P ratio was 75:50 (green fodder biomass: 74.61 t/ha and 72.56 t/ha). Similarly, the optimal seed rate was found to be 40 kg/ac, which resulted in the highest green fodder yield (73.41 t/ha and 72.88 t/ha in two seasons). Furthermore, the plant of maize at row spacing of 30 cm was found to generate the maximum green fodder yield (72.39 t/ha and 72.40 t/ha, respectively). Green fodder yield per hectare was found to be positively correlated with plant height, number of leaves, and leaf area. These findings underscore the significance of applying a fertilizer ratio of N: P = 75:50, a seed rate 40 kg/ac, and a row spacing of 45 cm for higher yields of green fodder in maize crop.

This study evaluates the determinants of Cambodia’s agricultural product exports from 2004 to 2023 across 35 major export destinations using the gravity model approach. During this period, China accounted for the largest share of export value, followed by Vietnam, France, Malaysia, and Thailand. Cambodia’s GDP and the GDP of its trading partners positively influenced the country’s agricultural exports. Moreover, the historical status of export destinations as former French colonies facilitated Cambodia’s export flows. In contrast, exchange rates and geographical distance negatively affected Cambodia’s agricultural trade. This study confirms the existence of significant untapped export potential between Cambodia and its trading partners. To optimize its agricultural exports, Cambodia can benefit from processing agricultural products before export. Therefore, the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) should actively support and promote investment in the agricultural processing industry to enhance the country’s international competitiveness. Additionally, the RGC and policymakers should strategically select export destinations through favorable trade negotiations and focus on the effective implementation of existing export policies.

This study developed an integrated performance evaluation framework for rural development Official Development Assistance (ODA) projects in Korea and validated its effectiveness through practical application. Based on the FAO’s SAFA (Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture Systems) Tool, the framework enables a balanced assessment across economic, social, environmental, and governance dimensions. The methodology incorporates the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) and Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA) to measure the importance and performance of objectives and indicators. The developed framework serves as a tool for Project Design Matrix (PDM) development, monitoring, and evaluation throughout the project’s planning, implementation, and completion phases. During planning, it systematically incorporates stakeholder input in setting objectives and indicators. During implementation, it facilitates real-time monitoring for immediate decision-making and resource reallocation. At completion, it supports comprehensive performance evaluation. Application of the framework to the “Rural Development Programme in Tuyen Quang Province, Vietnam” demonstrated its effectiveness in systematizing excessive indicators and clarifying the hierarchical and logical connections between objectives. This performance evaluation framework can enhance project transparency and accountability by overcoming the limitations of current PDM approaches and providing systematic methods for incorporating stakeholder feedback. It is particularly applicable to multi-sectoral rural development programs and is expected to contribute to integrated development in target areas. However, validation through a single case study presents limitations, necessitating future application across diverse regions and project types to verify generalizability.

This study explored multidimensional value of the Moroccan Figuig Oasis in designated Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems (GIAHS) and explored strategies for sustainable management and dynamic conservation. The Figuig Oasis successfully preserves a unique agro-ecosystem in an arid desert environment, utilizing traditional irrigation systems and multi-layered agricultural systems. The local economy relies heavily on the date palm industry and livestock farming. The ethnic and cultural diversity of the region contributes to a strong community-based social fabric. However, this oasis faces serious challenges, including water resource depletion due to climate change, spread of Bayoud disease, population decline, youth migration away from agricultural activities, and economic vulnerability. In addition, the region’s ability to be economically self-sufficient is being undermined by a growing reliance on migrant remittances. Despite a growing number of women engaging in agriculture, they continue to be marginalized in land ownership and decision-making processes. In light of these challenges, this study assessed the status and characteristics of the Figuig Oasis inscribed on the FAO’s GIAHS. This study emphasizes the role of GIAHS as a catalyst for expressing and strengthening pluralistic values and public goods functions of agriculture. Through this analysis, this study seeks to reaffirm that the FAO GIAHS framework is a traditional knowledge system that contains concerns and wisdom of past generations, which, if effectively harnessed, can help overcome ecological challenges and realize the potential for future agricultural and rural development.
