Followings are resulted through the analysis of the maln characters and the leaf ingredients, which is on the purpose of getting the basic materials to improve jaso and increase its production.Of the introduced varieties, Jukyeubjaso-stem length is 180cm, ear length is 37cm, No. of branches ofstem is 27, leaf length Is 16cm, leaf width Is 15cm-has better character than any other. Gurye local-stem length is 179cm, ear length is 38cm-is taken to be the best in the Geo-ecotypic.In the yield of leaf and seed, JukyeubJaso Is 727kg/10a, the greatest of all. In the leaf softness, allthe Inirorluced varieties are about 3.5 degrees, the Geo-ecotypic, about 2. The qualify of the introducedvat'ieties is better· than that of the Geo-ecotypic. Estimating on the chemical analysis of leaf,Jukyeubjaso has Protein 21.84%, Total carbohydrate 7.91%, Fe 126ppm, and Gurye lacal has Protein21.7 a, Total carbohydrate 8.4%, Fe 148ppm, expressing the highest. In correlation coefficients of leafchemical components, between protein and Total carbohydrate, Protein and Mn, protein and Fe, Pro-tein and Cu all the sorts show the positive correlation. Among them the Geo-ccoyplcs show the hlghestsignificance.
These experiments were conducted to determine the effects of Sorghum allelopathic substances on the callus growh of several weeds and crops. 1. When substances extracted from allelopathic Sorghum(Sorghum bicolor L.) were treated on medium, growth of callus of several weeds and crops were in-hibited. The degree of inhibition differed depending on the genotypes, ranging from 50 to 90% com-pared with that of control. 2. The extracts of above 5% Sorghum inhibited the callus growth of Che-nopodium albun L., Commelina communis L., and .Ammaranthus retroflexus L.and showed in-hibition rate of above 70% in callus growth. These results indicate that we could investigate theallelopaihy effect by using in vitro system. 3. The suitable explant for callus induction fromallelopathic plants was immature embryos, the callus induction rate differed depending on the geno-type, growth regulators and concentrations. In general, the addition of 2, 4-D and NAA onto medium increased the rate and amount of callus.
Many Entoloma were collected at Mt. Baiyang, Mt. Jiry, Mt, Sunun, Mt, Naejang and Mt. Manduck to September 1991 from June 1991. These spercies were identified. According to the resulting. Entoloma readii, E. cinerascens, E.padiceum, E.squamulosum and E. umbilicatum were newly to Korea.
This experiment was carrie out to investigate the amount of essential of leaves and fruits of Magnolia sieboldii, Magnolia hypoleuca, Evodia danillii male and female, Phellodendron amurense male and female and Zanthoxylum schinifolium male and emale by Karlsrube set on August, August, September and October in 1994. Essential oil yield was highest in the fruits of Zanthoxylum schinifollium leaves on Augus the amount of essential oil of Magnolia sieboldii and Magnolia hypoleuca leaves was more than the one of Evodia danillii, Phellodendron amurense and Zanthoxylum schnifolium leaves. The amount of essential oil were not diferent between male and female leaves.
Germination rate of encapsulated somatic embryos shelved significant differences under different concentrations of AgN03. The highest germination rate of 81.2% was found on MS medium withouthormones mixed with 10 mg/1 of AgN03. In vitro vermiculite planted with encapsulated embryostreated with 10 mg/1 of AgN03 induced 24.7% germination rate, and vermiculite planted with encap-sulated embryos treated with 40 mg/1 or 80 mg/1 of AgNO, induced no germination at all.
In order to establish utilijzation of medicinal herb as vegetable by Hydroponics, the present studies were conducted to investigate the effect of temperature and light on the seed germination ofmedicinal herb. The results obtained are summaried as follows. The lower and upper temperaturelimit for herb germination was 10'c and 30'c within which the optimum was 20'C. Germinationof medicinal herb was similar in light and dark condition.
The experiment was carried out to study the influence of planting densities and on some agronomic characters and yield of rresh weight in Agastache rugoso. The results obtained are summarized as fol-lows; stem length was long in dense planing and short in spacious Planting. Stem diameter was thickIn spacious planting, and was thin in dense planting. Yield was higher in dense planting densities (20x20cm : 2spiants/m, 30×20cm : 17plants/m).
The plants medicinal resouces of middle area of Korea were investigated 10 times from May 1, 1993 to November 30. 1994. In order to analyze the vegetation of middle wild plants structure and distribu-tion. Medical wiId plants of middle southern area consisted of 100 familis, 380 specis in all. Theresources of important herb drugs were Polypodiaceae, Graminae, Liliaceae, Polygonaceae,Ranunculaceae, Brassicaceae, Rosaceae, Fabaceae, Apiaceae, Labiatae, Solanaceae, Scrophulariaceae,Campanulaceae, Compositae. The herb drugs were comparatively more than in other mountains in ourcountry.
The effects of medium, hormones, and PFP on the proliferation of red callus in leaf tissue cultures of Garden orach(Atriplex hortensis L.) was investigated. As a result,88% of leaf tissues formed eallus on MS nledium containing 2mg/l 2,4-D. Fresh weight of callus was higher on MS medium than on Bsand NN media. It was also found that 2, 4-D was more effective than Dicamba and Picloram. The op-timum concentrations of hormones for callus proliferation depended on culture media. Isolated red cal-lus grew markedly both on MS medium supplemented with 1-2mg/l 2, 4-D and Bs medium contain-ing 2-4111g/l 2,4D. Callus proliferated on B5 and NN media containing Dicabma Img/l as well as onthe same media containing 2mg/l Picioram. The addition of PFP concentrations of 2, 5, and 40mg/ lrcspectiely to culture medium caused increase of callus fresh weight, especially under light condition.
This study was carried out to investigate about cultivation and export of major medicinal crops in Korea. The results obtained were summarized as follows'Planted area, harvested area and pro-duction were increase very much, but yield was not increased almost to 1993 from 1988. In spiteof, cultivation area was increased, export was decreased to 1993 from 1988. In cultivation area, major medicinal crops were Angelica gigas, Platycodon grandiflorum, Astragalus membranaceus, Paeonia lactiflora and Codonopsis lanceolata in 1993. In amount of export, major medicinal cropswere Ginkgo biloba, Bupleurum falcatum, Cornus officinalis, Asarum sieboldii in 1993.
This study was conducted to investigate desirable storage method to major chinese herbal medicine materials, Moutan Radicis Cortex in different packing materials and sealing degree. The loss in weight of Moutan Radicis Cortex as influenced by packing materials was the lowest at complete sealing treatment with transparent or black polyethylene film. The rot ratio of Moutan Radicis Cortex during the storage period was not difference between packing materials, transparent and black polyethylene film, but rot ratio of complete sealing condition was lower than punch (ΦJ5mm) on polyethylene film.
