The purpose of the study was to review ecosystem service researches and show the trend to guide researchers who want to study ecosystem service. Ecosystem service has been a theoretical base for conservation of nature such as grand mountains, rivers and so on. Moreover, reviewed studies showed economical, social, environmental values of ecosystem service in nature as well as in urban to support ecosystem service theory. By leading metropolitan governments in America, Canada and european and asian countries, the urban tree canopy(UTC)s’ ecosystem services have been evaluated quantitatively and accumluated as urban forestry data. This global trend has an implication that the study of UTC and its ecosystem service can support the provision of urban forestry and green spaces and especially, Korean cities should realize UTCs’ values on ecosystem services and start to apply them institutionally to enhance their urban environment.

This study was conducted to examine the effects of irrigation interval and fertilizer level on changes in soil chemical properties and growth of cut flower in soil retarding culture of standard chrysanthemum (Dendranthema grandiflorum) ‘Iwanohakusen'. The compound fertilizer (Poly-Feed, N-P-K 19-19-19) diluted with 1 g・L -1 were treated by irrigation intervals of 1 time/1 day (1.5 L・m -2 ), 1 time/2 days (1.5 L・m -2 ), 2 times/3 days (3 L・m -2 ) and 2 times/5 days (3 L・m -2 ). As irrigation interval was long, the nutrient contents of soil decreased. In 1 time/1 day treatment, NO3-N, K, and P2O5 contents of soil decreased, but Ca and Mg contents of soil did not change than before planting. The growth of cut flower, such as stem length, stem diameter, fresh weight, and weight of flower was the best in 1 time/1 day treatment, and was the worst in 2 times/5 days treatment. To examine the proper fertilizer level, the compound fertilizers (Poly-Feed, N-P-K 19-19-19) of 0.2, 0.4, 0.8, and 1.6 kg per 1.5t water were treated 1 time/1 day in 1,000 m 2 field. In fertilizer level of 0.8 or 1.6 kg, EC and nutrient contents of soil were higher or similar than before planting, and inorganic salts in soil were accumulating continuously. The growth of cut flower, such as stem length, number of leaves, weight, and diameter of flower bud was more effective in fertilizer level of 0.4 kg, but it was the worst in excessive fertilizer level of 1.6 kg. Therefore, fertigation of 0.4 kg compound fertilizer with 1 time/1 day in 1,000 m 2 field was the most effective for reasonable soil management and cut flower production of high quality in retarding culture of standard chrysanthemum ‘Iwanohakusen’.

The purpose of this study is to provide the basic data for desirable urban park planning which can provide a positive environment concerning activities and uses for all the people in a city. We chose the Seonyudo Park, a typical urban park in Seoul as an object for this study. As methods of this study, evaluation frame was made through reviews of preceding researches, related manuals and guidelines and on-site surveys. On-site evaluations were conducted with the point of universal design based on evaluation frame. Finally, We identified problems of the Seonyudo Park from evaluation results. The results of this study were as follows: firstly, based on the classified 9 evaluation sections, an evaluation frame of 83 sub criteria was made with a combination of 7 extracted principles of universal design. Secondly, evaluation of each Extracted Principles showed high scores in “Functionality” and “Accessibility” among 7 extracted principles and low scores in “Amenity” and “Durability.” Evaluation results showed ±50 scores in other extracted principles with 56.7 points average meaning low in universal design adaptation. Thirdly, major problem identified from each section evaluations showed that parking for the disabled was the most unsatisfied section from the point of view of the universal design. And the braille blocks and braille signs were barely installed in whole area. Also, the field survey showed that floors of most sections didn't use shock-absorbent and anti-slip materials. So an immediate repair and supplementation were required for these. Finally, there were many destroyed and improperly maintained parts which require more installations, repair and maintenance by managing authorities.
